Excellent Vacation at Excellence Riviera Cancun
We have vacationed at the Excellence Riviera Cancun more than 15 times over the years. Some might suggest that we branch out but the amenities, location and especially the outstanding staff keep us coming back. While we're sure that most staff deserve excellent reviews; these are the women and men with whom we engaged on our recent trip and with whom we have the utmost gratitude, affection, and respect. The following staff members are listed in no particular order, but it should be noted that these superb folks keep us coming back. Laylan: Manager for the Excellence Riviera Cancun. There were 6 people in our group. After multiple travel delays and challenging incidents, we arrived at the resort tired, hangry, and irritable. We encountered further frustrations when we learned that our booking agents had not shared some of our specific requests with the resort. Customer service is often a thankless job, but we say thank you Laylan for all that you did for us. We recognize you and your enormous efforts. Your professionalism, effectiveness and calm approach turned grumpy customers into grateful customers. Thank you. It's important to note that an organization is only as good as its employees, and employees like Laylan help make the Excellence Riviera Cancun a terrific resort. Miriam: beach concierge in the Excellence Club. Miriam was an absolute delight. She was energetic, friendly, courteous, efficient, and professional at all times. Miriam went above and beyond, treated us like royalty and could always be counted on to provide excellent customer service. She was a highly effective team player. Thank you, Miriam, for your unceasing commitment and dedication. You always went the extra mile and as such, you are a wonderful ambassador for the Excellence Riviera Cancun. Eleuterio: resort gardener. While always busy with his numerous tasks, Eleuterio went out of his way to engage with us. This is a man who does extremely well with guests. He made us feel most welcome with his friendly, welcoming, and gracious manner, all the while, approaching his duties with passion (the gardens and grounds are beautiful). He was charismatic, thoughtful and customer focused, also going above and beyond. Eleuterio is a loyal and exceptional ambassador for the Excellence Riviera Cancun. Well done. Moises: pool waiter in the Excellence Club. Once you've met Moises and experienced his humour and infectious laughter, you will never forget him. We met Moises years ago and are always impressed with his dedication, high energy, efficiency, loyalty, and professionalism. He is a joy to know. Moises is a thoughtful, conscientious, and excellent team player who puts the comfort of guests first and foremost. A highly skilled and competent employee, Moises is also a remarkable ambassador for the Excellence Riviera Cancun. Carlos Senior: waiter at Magna Restaurant in the Excellence Club. We enjoyed 2 experiences with Carlos Sr. He was attentive, proficient, friendly, courteous, and professional. A skilled server, we noticed how other staff treated him with respect and dignity – obviously a fine mentor. Amir: waiter at Chez Isabelle (wine cellar). Here was a man with impressive knowledge and skill. With 6 people in our group, Amir exemplified professionalism with his friendly, respectful, and excellent customer service accomplished in an elegant and sophisticated manner. Alberto: waiter at Oregano Restaurant. Last but definitely not least. We have known Alberto for years in his many roles at Excellence. We are very proud to count him as a cherished friend. When I asked my wife Wendy to describe Alberto, she said, “kind; a lovely man!” While true, Alberto is also a loyal, dedicated employee with a wonderful, positive disposition. His talent and customer service are stellar, and his hard work takes the resort to new heights. The Excellence Riviera Cancun is fortunate to have Alberto on their team – another fine ambassador. Until next time Alberto . . . Phil and Wendy H. * * * * *

No longer worth your money
I have been at Bahia Principe 6 times and unfortunately it is not what is used to be. For instance 1. I could not swim at the beach because the bottom of the ocean everywhere in the premises is full of sharp stones/ As a result, most people stay on the chairs looking at the ocean instead of being in the ocean. 2. The food at the buffets is plain bad. It used to be so good in the past, a wide variety and the quality was excellent. Now there is less variety and the food does not taste good. 3. The food at a la carte restaurants is terrible. Everything looks fancy and beautiful but if the food is bad what is the point. For instance at the French restaurant the soup was so salty that it was not fit for human consumption, the lamb was harder than my shoes and for some reason it tasted weird, the dessert was not freshly made and extremely sweet. Everything was so bad that we did not eat anything and had to eat at the buffet restaurant instead. The waiter did not even bother asking why we did not eat. I guess they know very well why. However, that was not the only bad restaurant, they were mostly bad and we heard other people complaining about the food too. 4. There are very pushy people selling time shares in all the lobbies. They harass you constantly. They ask you to attend their presentations promising its only an hour but in reality they last hours. Their predatory tactics also leave a lot to be desired. 5. They have less staff than in previous years so the staff is clearly overworked and its kind of stressful to see these poor souls trying to do the work of two or three people. It does not help that at the Sian Kahn buffet for instance, there is a tall guy, I assume their manager, scolding them in front of guests for no reason all the time. 6. There are now street vendors roaming at the beach. This is kind of worrisome as I do not know if these people may represent a risk to my safety. 7. The A/C did not work properly in our room. There was a leak in our washroom and the fridge kept making loud noises at odd hours of the night, not letting us sleep properly. We told the front desk about it, they sent someone who said he would look into it but nothing was done in the end. 8. Its very difficult to find openings for the a la carte restaurants. This does not make any sense because when we went to these restaurants they were half empty. I wonder if its because they limit the amount of people who can get in so not everyone gets a chance to enjoy these restaurants and as a result they save money. When I spoke to someone about it their answer was for us to buy lobster so they could accommodate us in that particular restaurant. So whats the point of getting a chance to book a la carte restaurants if you will end up paying for it then. 9. I found a disgusting practice from the managers of some restaurants. They would pocket the money of waiters when they would not see. That is so wrong. 10. Lack of shows. In the past they used to have a great variety of shows. Now they are bad and nearly nonexistent. However, if you pay you may get into one that used to be free in the past. So all in all our experience was bad and I do not plan to go back to this hotel. It is just not worth the money and there are many better and cheaper choices out there for the money. It's a pity because the premises of the hotel are not bad.

Superb location on the Pacific, great resort.
What to say? We spent an amazing & wonderful week at the Riu Palace Los Cabos, during mid-september. It was our first time at Los Cabos. Weather perfect (very hot, sunny and dry, this is what I was looking for). Sunrise around 6am and sunset around 6.30pm. Food is really good, we also tried the Bombay and the Krystal Restaurants, both really good. We really enjoyed the fact that no reservation is needed for restaurants, this is great. Employees are all nice and professional, we had few minor issues during our stay and they all have been resolved within the hour. Super staff! There are 3 swimming pools, one is for activity, one is a swim-up bar and the other is quieter. Lounges always available. Access to the Riu Sant Fe is a super , you can go to the water slides (Splash World) it is so much fun, and to the Riu Party. You also can access all the swimming pools at the Riu Santa Fe but there are noisy. View on the beach is amazing. The layout of the resort is very well made, it is a very beautiful hotel, there are a lot of stairs to climb but it kept us in shape (there are multiple elevators available). Cocktail drinks are excellent, the bar (La Ventana) and the coffee shop (Capuchino) both offer an outstanding and unbeatable view on the Pacific ocean and the rocks. Room was perfect, clean, with balcony, AC worked perfectly. Beach is so beautiful, ocean is red flag, but you can walk to the public beach (swimmable beach) about 20 min walk. In conclusion, we would recommend this resort with no inch of hesitation to anyone who is looking for a perfect no-worry vacation at Los Cabos. We did a lot of AI Resorts, this one is one of our favorites. I hope being able to come back.

Last minute trip to Catalonia end of August 2024
First, we were excited to be arriving at the Tulum airport for our first time. We have travelled Mexico quite a few times in the past few years. What we had not really verified was the distance. It still took over 1 hour to get to the resort. This said, the resort was definitely not attractive upon arrival and very close to the Main Street which left us uneasy upon arrival however, once you enter the facilities, you do have the resort feel. The most attractive part of this resort is the walkway to everything. They really made this unique and beautiful. The resort is easy access to all amenities and restaurants which is quite pleasurable. While most restaurants have air conditioning, the buffet and poolside restaurants were wonderful. Just very hot in August making it a little challenging. We took the Honeymoon Section as we were celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary. They did put a lovely banner on our door however, it said newlyweds which only made us laugh. We also hd a bottle of bubbly that was waiting for us in the room on the night of our anniversary. Nice touch! The restaurants were all amazing and delicious with the exception of the grill which was our only disappointment... service included but we did not let that influence the overall experience. The staff is very peasant and service was excellent. Though I got some type of bite and I think it was throughout the night while sleeping, I did have to go outside the resort to get checked as there are no Dr. or assistance on the resort. They could have called a Dr. to come and see me but that would have been $200 USD so we chose to take a taxi and eventually rented a car as I needed to go to hospital to get treated for cellulitis. I did ask the hotel to check our room and bed and they did so that same day and sprayed our room. We were also given a romantic dinner as per what they called it on the beach nd we were looking forward to this dinner after having spent a day running clinics and hospitals only to be treated to a table on some sand but by the pool where people were still drinking and swimming with the music going so we chose to not accept this setting as there was another table on the beach all ready which we thought it was for us but it was for "Exclusive Members" only. I guess if felt a little insulting...and we had not asked for this dinner. They said it was part of pur package. This should be handled differently and seriously, not called a romantic dinner on the beach. All in all, it was a great trip. Great staff. Nice resort and THE BEACH WAS ABSOLUTELY CLEAN AND BEAUTIFUL ******* however, we were missing shade and had to move chairs constantly to be under a palm tree to get shade. I did also have a facial at the spa which was also really nice.
