Very clean and well maintained property. The staff were all courteous and friendly. There was a good variety of activities led by Briian and the evening entertainers were very talented especially the band, Elite. Moises never disappointed with the bar service on the beach! The favoured restaurants were Chez Isabelle and Basmati [excellent!].

Just celebrated my 60th birthday with family at Riu Palace Costa Mujeres and had a great time, everyone really enjoyed themselves immensely. The food was good, the beach was great, nice warm water, very little seaweed, lots of shade on the beach. The pools were great, the water was really warm, bar staff were excellent, remembered your drinks, made the drinks well. The resort was beautiful, layout was good, easy walk from our OceanView to the pools and beach, lobby was real nice, we really like the Square Bar, we just called it the Pink Bar as decor was in pink, wife really enjoyed the coffee bar on the opposite side of the bar. Note: the coffee bar has ice cream, great desserts, and they also make great milkshakes! All restaurants had good food, and service, the staff were great, I didn't like that we could not reserve a dinner time, it was first come first service, it was hard on us as we were a party of 8. I didn't like the Steak House, some food was good, but the restaurant was just outside the buffett at the back in the open deck, was were hot and humid, a Steak House is supposed to be more upscale and should be inside with A/C. The rooms were good, well laid out, nice deck, bed was comfortable, shower was good, was cleaned well and liked the morning clean then the turndown service. Resort was very relaxed if you wanted, the entertainment staff always had something happening in the pools or the beach, kept people involved. If you wanted more parties, I liked you could go over to the Riu Dunamar, short walk, and they also had free shuttles to Riu Caribe for some more parties. I highly recommend this hotel, one of the best I have been to.

We very much enjoyed our 1 week stay at this resort. The rooms were nice and clean and well maintained. The beds were comfortable. The mini fridge was well stocked and the liquor was well stocked . The food at the buffets and a la Carts was very good. The service and staff were very good! Our only complaint was the cool temperature of the larger pools.

We have vacationed at the Excellence Riviera Cancun more than 15 times over the years. Some might suggest that we branch out but the amenities, location and especially the outstanding staff keep us coming back. While we're sure that most staff deserve excellent reviews; these are the women and men with whom we engaged on our recent trip and with whom we have the utmost gratitude, affection, and respect. The following staff members are listed in no particular order, but it should be noted that these superb folks keep us coming back. Laylan: Manager for the Excellence Riviera Cancun. There were 6 people in our group. After multiple travel delays and challenging incidents, we arrived at the resort tired, hangry, and irritable. We encountered further frustrations when we learned that our booking agents had not shared some of our specific requests with the resort. Customer service is often a thankless job, but we say thank you Laylan for all that you did for us. We recognize you and your enormous efforts. Your professionalism, effectiveness and calm approach turned grumpy customers into grateful customers. Thank you. It's important to note that an organization is only as good as its employees, and employees like Laylan help make the Excellence Riviera Cancun a terrific resort. Miriam: beach concierge in the Excellence Club. Miriam was an absolute delight. She was energetic, friendly, courteous, efficient, and professional at all times. Miriam went above and beyond, treated us like royalty and could always be counted on to provide excellent customer service. She was a highly effective team player. Thank you, Miriam, for your unceasing commitment and dedication. You always went the extra mile and as such, you are a wonderful ambassador for the Excellence Riviera Cancun. Eleuterio: resort gardener. While always busy with his numerous tasks, Eleuterio went out of his way to engage with us. This is a man who does extremely well with guests. He made us feel most welcome with his friendly, welcoming, and gracious manner, all the while, approaching his duties with passion (the gardens and grounds are beautiful). He was charismatic, thoughtful and customer focused, also going above and beyond. Eleuterio is a loyal and exceptional ambassador for the Excellence Riviera Cancun. Well done. Moises: pool waiter in the Excellence Club. Once you've met Moises and experienced his humour and infectious laughter, you will never forget him. We met Moises years ago and are always impressed with his dedication, high energy, efficiency, loyalty, and professionalism. He is a joy to know. Moises is a thoughtful, conscientious, and excellent team player who puts the comfort of guests first and foremost. A highly skilled and competent employee, Moises is also a remarkable ambassador for the Excellence Riviera Cancun. Carlos Senior: waiter at Magna Restaurant in the Excellence Club. We enjoyed 2 experiences with Carlos Sr. He was attentive, proficient, friendly, courteous, and professional. A skilled server, we noticed how other staff treated him with respect and dignity – obviously a fine mentor. Amir: waiter at Chez Isabelle (wine cellar). Here was a man with impressive knowledge and skill. With 6 people in our group, Amir exemplified professionalism with his friendly, respectful, and excellent customer service accomplished in an elegant and sophisticated manner. Alberto: waiter at Oregano Restaurant. Last but definitely not least. We have known Alberto for years in his many roles at Excellence. We are very proud to count him as a cherished friend. When I asked my wife Wendy to describe Alberto, she said, “kind; a lovely man!” While true, Alberto is also a loyal, dedicated employee with a wonderful, positive disposition. His talent and customer service are stellar, and his hard work takes the resort to new heights. The Excellence Riviera Cancun is fortunate to have Alberto on their team – another fine ambassador. From the moment you arrive at the resort you know you made the right choice. Absolutely no issues , Excellant food and drink , clean , great staff , convenient to town , great shows.

We are fairly well travelled and found this resort to be outstanding. The food rivalled and cruise ship and the staff outstanding

This is my 3rd stay within a year at the Barcelo Riviera Maya. I frequent Mexico frequently and I typically visit 4 times annually. This is a great hotel with many great features but does have one major downfall. I was booked for another stay for a group of six friends in 4 weeks from now but we have decided to cancel.

Beautiful setting on a quiet bay, views of sunrise and sunset. The staff, from reception to bar staff and waiters are excellent. The rooms all have an ocean view, although some may be obscured by palm trees. The multiple pools are huge. The numerous restaurants and bars have a range of dishes and beverages to suit all preferences and tastes. The beach is very quiet and is not shared with any other resort.
