I really enjoyed my stay—both the room and the service were excellent. I'd recommend downloading the app; it made things very convenient. Whenever we left the room, we could simply request housekeeping through the app, and they came promptly. Everything ran smoothly, whether we were heading out for dinner or grabbing a quick snack. We didn't use room service, but it was nice to have the option. I also appreciated the hotel's efforts to stay on top of the seaweed situation and keep the beach clean. In fact, everything was clean and new-looking. One area for improvement would be the availability of beach chairs. It often felt like a “first-come with your items to save, but never attend” situation. When I asked a staff member for help, I was told all chairs were taken, even though many appeared unused for hours with belongings left on them. Better management of this would really enhance the experience. Drink service on the beach could also be improved. I did leave the resort briefly for a walk along the hotel strip and unfortunately had a negative experience with local police who attempted to solicit a bribe. While this is not the hotel's fault—and I didn't report it at the time—I would recommend staying on the resort property for peace of mind. I felt very safe while on the hotel property. Lastly, my partner became quite ill on our final day, which made for a difficult trip home. Make sure you bring supplies!

We recently stayed at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres for 7 days as a family of five (2 adults and 3 kids), and once again had a wonderful vacation. The resort grounds are absolutely beautiful and exceptionally well maintained. Everywhere we walked was clean, lush, and well cared for, creating a relaxing atmosphere throughout our stay. A highlight of our trip was the Blossom Spa, where Priscilla provided an incredible treatment. She was professional, attentive, and made the experience truly relaxing. It was one of the best spa experiences we've had. We were also pleasantly surprised with a room upgrade upon check-in thanks to Eric and Daniel from Guest Services, who recognized us as returning guests. Their warm welcome and exceptional customer service made us feel genuinely valued. A huge thank you to both of them for starting our vacation on such a positive note. The food and beverage service was another standout. Daniel at the Piano Bar was knowledgeable, incredibly friendly, and always provided fast, attentive service. Flavio at the main bar is a true mixologist—his cocktails were expertly crafted and added a special touch to our evenings. One of our favorite memories was watching the quarterfinal match at the Sports Bar. The lively atmosphere, combined with delicious wings, burgers, and fries, made it a fun experience for the whole family. The pool area was lively and busy, which created a fun vacation atmosphere, especially for families. The beach did have some seaweed during our stay, but the resort staff worked hard throughout the day to clean it regularly and keep the beach as enjoyable as possible. Overall, Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres continues to impress us with its excellent service, beautiful property, and friendly staff who go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome. We look forward to returning again!

We experienced issues with mini bar, amenities, room service, noise and bugs in the room. Contacted the resort and they simply don't seem to care. Food was great but not labelled so incredibly difficult for vegetarians or those with allergies. Only 3 bathrooms for the whole resort and restaurants. Two are outside. Extremely clean however. Staff constantly cleaning the bathrooms and resort grounds.

We arrived at the resort excited to relax and enjoy the view from the balcony in the morning and we were put on the side of the building looking at sand and a wall so that was not a welcoming point at all but overall we had a great time and food was great, we did not enjoy all the 18-20 year olds of the cruise line that were loud, drunk and obnoxious, if this is an adult only resort why were they allowed to come in when the party resort was Santa fe right next to us ? We left 3 restaurants because of these kids being super loud and drunk. We had a great time in town exploring the marina and little shops and had lunch at cabo wabo which was nice Overall the resort was great and we would go back but not during spring break when all these kids came in

Everything is spotless, staff are always cleaning inside and outside. Rooms are like new, minibar and water is restocked as soon as requested. Service is great – quick and friendly. Food is far too tasty, leading to over-eating. Well equipped gym, to help with the over-eating! Ocean is really warm and the waves are great for beginner and intermediate body boarders – boards are available for free for an hour. June off-season was a great deal. Would definitely return.

From the moment you arrive at the resort you know you made the right choice. Absolutely no issues , Excellant food and drink , clean , great staff , convenient to town , great shows.

We really enjoyed our stay with Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort. We loved the size of the resort and the fact that it is family owned. Very quiet resort with nice vibe. Very clean rooms and public areas. There was lots of sargassum during our stay but that is out of the resort's control. They did try to keep it to a minimum daily with staff removing it.

Love the nature walk through the jungle to get from the lobby to the pool and beachfront. Great beach with lots of lounge chairs to choose from. Easy to get into and out of the ocean. Delicious breakfast and lunch in the beach front grill. Good drinks at the various bars. Speciality restaurants all located near the lobby area. Five speciality restaurants to choose from with good food. Early evening musical entertainment in the lobby area was exceptional. Room was spacious with lots of marble.

Nice resort, in terms of appearance. Smaller and easy to get around, everything was in a close vicinity. Rooms were modern and spacious. Was hoping for a rainfall shower, that could be improved. Not very sound proof, you could hear everything in the hallway and people were extremely loud if you were trying to sleep in later. Front desk staff was nice and somewhat accommodating. We asked for a later checkout that 12pm because our flight was at 9pm but they were booked. Beach was big with lots of areas to sit, but usually a lot of people around, no wifi signal, and the resort handled the seaweed very well. This is a party resort, very loud and for a younger crowd. Was not as relaxing and fun as I hoped for. Not much entertainment other than the nightclub and the shows offered in the theatre often coincided with dinner hours at the restaurants (you either went to a show or had dinner lol). Food was the WORST part about this resort. Extremely disappointing, not tasty, not many chicken options (like 1 or 2 each meal). Food was not prepared well and just repetitive at the buffet. There are no reservations for the restaurants but there should have been because there was always a 30-40 mins wait (they give you a beeper). Sadly, no room service and even though the 24-hour sports bar had snacks and "food" 24/7, it was not very good (refrigerated hot dogs/burgers, bland sandwiches). There was nowhere else open after 10pm if you were hungry. I was aware from before that Riu resorts have a rep for being party resorts but wanted to give it a try since there were so many options and modern, but I will not return to any of these resorts nor recommend them unless you are looking for a party resort and don't care about food quality.
