Great view,food,service. Rooms/elevators need work
Beautiful resort. Wonderful staff. Awesome food. Very clean and always being cleaned throughout the week. We stayed in the big, older hotel and the rooms were nice and adequate but there were some serious issues with things breaking down and the terrible elevator experiences. At arrival the resort is gorgeous. Staff is helpful and friendly. The view from the room was epic. But one sink literally was so clogged we couldn't use it. Beds were old and need changing. Our friends next door had the metal piston thing on their door break off and mold on their box spring. Mini fridge was stocked well but if you want it done daily you have to phone reception and stay on them. Elevators were a struggle. We were on the 6th floor so we would usually walk down to avoid the wait and on the way up you had to just tough it out. There were new elevators under construction so hopefully that helps but with thousands of people using 3-4 elevators it was difficult, plus one person told us she fell half a floor in an elevator and was scared to use them. The buffets were AMAZING. Probably the best buffets I've ever experienced. Something for everyone. The stir fry station in the Italian buffet at lunch was a highlight. My only issue with the food was none of the a la cartes were menu dining they were both buffets. Although really great food we were looking forward to something different and a fine dining experience and didn't get that. The pools and water slides and kids pool and slides were all totally awesome. Lots of bars and fun places for the kids to play. They had a blast. The only issue the adults had was that we hoped for more entertainment in the form of pool games and exciting hosts to ramp them up. There was plenty of activities but no central area or pool for them and no music except for in the adult pools. The beach is perfect and we had a great time in the ocean. They have vendors behind ropes halfway down the beach so people could relax without getting bugged and the vendors were super cool. The nightclub was super loud and played all salsa dance songs so it wasn't our jam, the sports bar was pretty cool except you had to pay for pool, air hockey, and foosball!!!! They had a beach party/rave which was awesome but a bit much for the young kids so we left lol. No foam party!!!! One thing I will say is that we were there right when the COVID-19 virus hit high gear so the mood was slightly shifting and Canadians were leaving daily so that affected activities happening and put a slight cloud over the trip for the adults.

Playa Mazatlan is Awesome
The hotel is a little older, one of the best we've ever had the pleasure to stay at. It's also the most clean we've experienced. Cleaning non stop by staff. The food at buffet is ok, good selection, the Italian and Brazilian are fantastic. Mexican we did not try. If you are accustomed to the typical Caribbean resort in punta cana or cuba you will find this a little different, it is an independent hotel and seems more geared towards many of its Mexican guests not just north americans, especially in terms of the entertainment which for me is a plus...you have an opportunity to be in a city rather than just a exclusive tourist resort, make no mistake it is a tourist area but you can easily experience Mexico while here from here if you wish to get out. Multiple pools in different areas some geared for activities others for children and families and others for quiet time. They have built a very cool area with a cenote where you can walk through cave like setting to get to it. There is the adults only swim up bar, adults only infinity hot tub up on top of the waterfall over looking the ocean. with so many areas to explore you really have a choice of setting you want to spend your day. Or evenings as the pools stay open to 9 vs many other paces till 6. Drinks served non stop on the beach or pools. Every single staff we encountered was beyond helpful and kind. I keep reading about no English, my Spanish is very limited but no issues at all here. However you would be wise learning a few phrases as it is a Spanish peaking country after all. They really appreciate your effort. The beach is very nice for walking sand is soft and is clean, big waves beautiful views, The water had stingrays at this time and several people got stung. Most did not, still lots of people were in the ocean but not me once I saw a lady who had the misfortune. It is located in a great area for anything you could want, pharmacies, shopping, bars, restaurants, you name it all in walking distance. Felt very safe, no concerns at all. Overall we fell in love with place, we have experienced many resorts all over many times and this was a nice suprise, we will be back.

Great Hotel and Location
We spent a week at this hotel and had a great time. The hotel was extremely good value for the price we paid. Our stay at the hotel was all-inclusive however you can stay without opting for the all-inclusive package. Although I have noted some weak points, they were relatively minor to us and did not negatively impact our stay. The strong points definitely outweighed the weak points. The hotel is quite new (built in 2016 I believe) and is very well looked after. The rooms are spacious and have a great bathroom with large shower. There was always plenty of hot water. There is also a small kitchenette with full size fridge, microwave, and sink which was very handy. The hotel is located on the beachfront however the main road into town is just outside the front door and provides easy access into town by walking, by bus or car. There are lots of restaurants and stores nearby. The hotel pool is quite small as is the seating area around it so can get a little crowded, As there are 2 other hotels on the same site and 1 a short walk away that are all managed by the same company, there are however other pools to choose from. The beach outside the hotel was quite wide and flat and you could walk for miles. No problems with seaweed or rocks. The ocean was generally calm early in the day and would get rougher later in the day as the wind got stronger. The water was very shallow and only got gradually deeper so you could walk out quite a way into the water. Our all-inclusive package included a la carte dinners at restaurants in our hotel and the other related hotels. The food in each of them was very good. We also ate at the buffet restaurant and although fairly small, there was still a great selection of food and you would never go hungry. For breakfast we had the choice of a few buffet restaurants and opted for omelettes most days, always a good choice. For lunch the restaurant in our hotel was great and we loved the shrimp quesadillas. We would definitely recommend this hotel and area.
