Not my best vacation

The hotel staff were all very pleasant and helpful and the sheets and towels in our room were clean. However , a thorough cleaning of the room has not been done in a long time and although we had daily maid service, the table in our room wasn't even wiped once. The cupboards were all locked so we could not even have a glass to drink our water from or a plate to heat up leftovers that were bought elseswhere as the buffet was very poor. Thankfully, we had access to a couple other resorts that were affiliated with this one so we ate there instead of our own hotel but dined out a fair bit also despite having an all inclusive pkg. Also, the alcohol included was very low quality. They didn't even serve Kaluha. [Details]

Lovely staff

We had the all inclusive package at this hotel is categorized as a 3 star. It's a 2 star, at best. It's too bad because the staff are so lovely and hard working. it could be so much better if the owners cared a little bit. The only meal that was decent was breakfast at the hotel down the road. We ate out or made simple meals in our room. The drinks were not good. It was definitely quantity over quality. We made drinks in our room or went out. It's too bad because authentic Mexican food is delicious and that's all they had to do. Simple and basic fresh local ingredients would have went a long way. What is with the hotdogs in everything? Fortunately there are a lot of restaurants with great food and drinks (try happy hour margaritas across the street. So good!). The pool was too small and crowded for such a large hotel. We hung out at the pool we ate breakfast at. It's really unfortunate that the disco across the street was so loud and went on til morning. I recommend a room at the back, facing the ocean. You can still hear the disco but it isn't as loud. The kitchenette could be better stocked with more cookware and dishes. There was one frying pan and that was it for pots. No bowl to make a salad. Coffee maker and blender worked great. Unless there are changes, this hotel is only suitable for young people who are in town to party. [Details]

Great Hotel and Location

, Toronto, ON

We spent a week at this hotel and had a great time. The hotel was extremely good value for the price we paid. Our stay at the hotel was all-inclusive however you can stay without opting for the all-inclusive package.

Although I have noted some weak points, they were relatively minor to us and did not negatively impact our stay. The strong points definitely outweighed the weak points.

The hotel is quite new (built in 2016 I believe) and is very well looked after. The rooms are spacious and have a great bathroom with large shower. There was always plenty of hot water. There is also a small kitchenette with full size fridge, microwave, and sink which was very handy.

The hotel is located on the beachfront however the main road into town is just outside the front door and provides easy access into town by walking, by bus or car. There are lots of restaurants and stores nearby.

The hotel pool is quite small as is the seating area around it so can get a little crowded, As there are 2 other hotels on the same site and 1 a short walk away that are all managed by the same company, there are however other pools to choose from.

The beach outside the hotel was quite wide and flat and you could walk for miles. No problems with seaweed or rocks. The ocean was generally calm early in the day and would get rougher later in the day as the wind got stronger. The water was very shallow and only got gradually deeper so you could walk out quite a way into the water.

Our all-inclusive package included a la carte dinners at restaurants in our hotel and the other related hotels. The food in each of them was very good. We also ate at the buffet restaurant and although fairly small, there was still a great selection of food and you would never go hungry. For breakfast we had the choice of a few buffet restaurants and opted for omelettes most days, always a good choice. For lunch the restaurant in our hotel was great and we loved the shrimp quesadillas.

We would definitely recommend this hotel and area. [Details]

The weak points
1. Check-in process was very slow. 2. It was not clear at first how the all-inclusive privileges worked. 3. Room did not have enough storage space and hangers for clothes. 4. Noisy beach musicians and nearby club.
