Los Cabos
We spent an amazing & wonderful week at the Riu Palace Los Cabos, during mid-september. It was our first time at Los Cabos.
Weather perfect (very hot, sunny and dry, this is what I was looking for). Sunrise around 6am and sunset around 6.30pm.
Food is really good, we also tried the Bombay and the Krystal Restaurants, both really good. We really enjoyed the fact that no reservation is needed for restaurants, this is great.
Employees are all nice and professional, we had few minor issues during our stay and they all have been resolved within the hour. Super staff!
There are 3 swimming pools, one is for activity, one is a swim-up bar and the other is quieter. Lounges always available.
Access to the Riu Sant Fe is a super , you can go to the water slides (Splash World) it is so much fun, and to the Riu Party. You also can access all the swimming pools at the Riu Santa Fe but there are noisy.
View on the beach is amazing. The layout of the resort is very well made, it is a very beautiful hotel, there are a lot of stairs to climb but it kept us in shape (there are multiple elevators available).
Cocktail drinks are excellent, the bar (La Ventana) and the coffee shop (Capuchino) both offer an outstanding and unbeatable view on the Pacific ocean and the rocks.
Room was perfect, clean, with balcony, AC worked perfectly.
Beach is so beautiful, ocean is red flag, but you can walk to the public beach (swimmable beach) about 20 min walk.
In conclusion, we would recommend this resort with no inch of hesitation to anyone who is looking for a perfect no-worry vacation at Los Cabos. We did a lot of AI Resorts, this one is one of our favorites.
Enjoyed our stay very much excellent staff in all areas. Food was great in all places and bartenders are second to none.
The weak points
If i had one concern it would be on your lack of music performers and
more hours of stage performance.

Our third stay at this resort

We love everything about this Riu Palace. The food is outstanding, the entire resort is spotlessly maintained, the rooms are a comfortable size, the bathrooms spacious, the beds comfortable. We enjoy the specialty restaurants with their generous portions and skillfully prepared international cuisine. We look forward to starting each day in the Coffee Shop, sipping a cappuccino while watching the sun rise over the ocean. The view of the rock formations on the Sea of Cortez is one we enjoy. We are a quiet couple who aren't really into the pool games and shows (which I hear are excellent as well) Our goals are to relax around the pools, enjoy a few fancy drinks and recover from our hectic lives back home. We came with a group of 25 consisting of young adults and their parent friend group . Hotel was clean and well kept . Grounds and facilities were awesome . The only disappointment was the food . This was the first all inclusive that we had been to that didn't take reservations for their al a carte restaurants. There were 4 different ones in the property which opened at 6:00 pm , if you weren't in line by 530pm you weren't getting in . The Italian restaurant had a limit of how many people they could serve in an evening so even if you lined up for dinner you weren't guaranteed to get in . Food quality was not great and not a lot of variety . The best thing was the fresh omellets in the morning and the nacho's with fresh guamolie . Staying at the palace had it's perks which allowed you to go to the Baja California adults only portion of the resort and the Santa Fe which was where our young adults hung out because of the night club and various foam themed pool parties they had . We had a junior suite for my husband myself and our 18 year old daughter and it was tight . The room had a California king which was great for us but our daughter had to sleep on a pull out couch that was very small and uncomfortable . Would have been nice to have two queen beds . This doesn't exist as most of the rooms only allow 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children . We had a great ocean view but were right over the theatre lounge so it was loud until about 12pm . We originally had a room on the other side of the hotel but the view wasn't as nice so I asked to be changed I am sorry I did . Hotel was very close to downtown Cabo which was nice . Three dollar is or 60 pesos per person each way or a 20 min walk along the beach however the sand was coarse and heavy and walking along the beach was hard on the calf muscles . All in all the holiday was great just not consistent with the food . The staff were great and accommodating and service was fabulous . [Details]

BEWARE TRAVELLERS!!

Beware!! My son's stay ended in theft from their LOCKED safe in their room the day before they were leaving. Passports, wallet and camera! Riu Palace took ZERO responsibility and in fact wanted to charge them over $3100 USD more for 6 additional days due to the Embassy closing over Christmas! They wouldn't even give them a copy or the original theft form completed to take with them to file their police report.
In speaking with other guests there they shared that they had watched cleaning staff enter rooms to clean and leave the doors slightly ajar with the deadbolt pulled across allowing the 'thieves' access to rooms. Tell me how they get into LOCKED safes? Reset code? Key? There is obviously an 'organized' group of people involved in this act!! Riu did nothing for these young adults and offered no help at the expense of theft happening under their roof!!
ALL TRAVELERS BEWARE STAYING AT THIS LOCATION!! Hotel safes are NOT safe here...as I'm sure many other places! Very scary when you can't get back to your home country!
This is very unfortunate as they had enjoyed their stay until this. Food was great and the atmosphere was fun.
Overall a great experience. There could be more poolside games to do. There are hardly any. The restaurants are mediocre considering it's a 5-start hotel. [Details]

The hotel lobby was very nice when we walked in. The check in went well and was a smooth process. Our room was clean and we enjoyed the swim out pool and large patio. The location of the room was facing the Santa Fe, so it could be loud at times(room 0019) Staff was friendly and service was good in most areas. Food was good, most days you can find something if you are not fussy. The pool areas were clean and you could choose to be on the quiet side or the louder side. If I was going again I would request a room away from the riu Santa Fe. [Details]

The hotel was beautiful and we had a ocean view in the King super saver room. Staff were very friendly all around and you were able to make a connection with them. Which made you feel even more at home and relaxed. Most of the restaurants were wonderful. The steak house was amazing and the only one we weren't a really large fan of was the Italian. However, we enjoyed it so much that we are hoping to take our children back there. As, we enjoyed that we could go to the other two resorts through the Riu. This was our first all inclusive and we enjoyed it. [Details]
Gym at the Palace was alright. Not very big. We decided that if we go back we would use the gym at the Baja California.

We would recommend this Resort for a great holiday. The location is perfect as had a beautiful view from our room. The pools are wonderful especially the Infinity pool. The food and service in buffets and pool side was excellent. The rooms were quiet and very comfortable whole resort was very clean. One server named Blanca in the buffet was 7 months pregnant was so efficient, she outworked most others. Entertainment could have better. Since the sister resort, Riu Santa Fe had pool parties which seemed to interest the younger guests Mon, Wed, Fri and Sat we felt this is the reason our entertainment wasn't much. We were thankful we didn't stay at Santa Fe resort as would have been very LOUD. Plan on going back!!! [Details]

This was my second time to this hotel. I was there May 2019 (my husband and I) and now Aug 2019 (Friend's trip). I was pleased both times with the hotel. I would say that it caters to couples more as it is a very relaxed atmosphere. Everything closes down early. I think the thing that this hotel needs to improve on the most is the food quality. This resort was absolutely amazing. It has everything you can think of and more. The staff were so great to deal with and always very pleasant and as helpful as possible. they will go out of there way and try and accommodate you in every way possible. the rooms were really nice as we had a partial ocean view suite over looking the pools and ocean. The food was fantastic and would be suitable for everybody. the buffet was huge and a very large variety of everything you can think of. the 5 main restaurants are also available for fine dining. The steak house was fantastic. we enjoyed the Italian one too. We had the Mexican restaurant for lunch and it was good also. I never made it to the Japanese or Indian one that they have there also. I would recommend this resort to any body traveling to Cabo San Lucas. the resort is located right on the beach so you do not have to walk far to enjoy it. you can walk down the beach to Medano Beach and the Marina and enjoy the night life and bars and restaurants You have the privelage of using the Riu Santa Fe next door which is very fun and suited the younger croud as we were there during spring break. this resort is very large and has lots of restaurants and bars in it also. I just returned from a week holiday at the Rio Palace Los Cabo. I spent two weeks on a golfing holiday and then a week at an all inclusive. It is a beautiful resort with amazing ocean views. My morning began with a latte, watching the amazing sunrise from the cappuccino bar. Breakfast was buffet style with every possible food you could imagine, beautifully presented and plentiful. There was a variety of heated salt water infinity pools to lounge by. With the consistently perfect Cabo weather I must say this was one of the nicest resorts and all inclusive holidays I have had in a long time. [Details]

The grounds are amazing, always being looked after and cleaned. There was only 1 hot tub which would be jammed packed once the sun went down. A couple time we had no towels in our room which isn't the worst complaint but an inconvenience. It would be great if the shuttle pick up times were made readily available, I had to wait in line twice to wait for a travel rep to tell me the time of our shuttle pick up only to be lectured that I did not attend the welcome meeting upon arrival. Riu Palace Review
Andrew Ellerman, Port Moody, BC
2018-09-26
We stayed at Riu September 2018 for two weeks. The rooms were nice and clean, the pools were very nice and the resort location isn't bad. We also found the staff to be very friendly. The food was very average even for all inclusive, we usually ate off resort because we didn't like it.
There are no hot tubs which would be really nice, especially for the days it rained and was a little colder.
It's an inexpensive resort and you get what you pay for. For the price, the hotel was very good- it just isn't our style. We would recommend this hotel to others looking for a budget friendly trip.
DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM ALAMO AT THE HOTEL! Reason #1. They will try to rent you a small compact car which is totally unsafe and unrealistic to drive if it remotely rains during your stay or if you plan on leaving Cabo to explore and road trip (to La Paz etc) since the roads are not all fully paved roads.
Reason #2. They charge a fortune! A VW Jetta is $55/day with all of the coverages. We went into town and rented a Jeep Wrangler for $60 for 4 days.... had we used Alamo it would've cost almost $300!!! Instead we only paid $60... so less than $20/day
Reason #3: the larger man at the Alamo desk whose name we can't remember reserved us a car and when we showed up for our rental his co worker informed us that the guy who rented us the car wasn't going to be in for the week and had promised a variety of people cars when there weren't actually any available. This became a huge problem because we had an appointment at another resort where we are getting married and had no car to get there. Alamo refused to honour the original rate and lied about not being able to give us a car since we found one ourself in their parking lot, at which time they finally gave it to us and at unreduced rate. The whole process made us over an hour late and there was 0 customer service offered.
Also, don't take cabs from the hotel! They charge insane rates... $10 for a one way trip to Walmart..., which is literally across the street
The final negative point was the entertainment. It was sub par at most and we were super disappointed. We've been to lots of resorts with great entertainment and this is unfortunately not one of them.
This hotel felt like a party place for travelers on a budget and there were a lot of loud, obnoxious, drunk people who seemed to overrun the resort. We will not be returning and will spend the extra money to stay at a higher end resort.
However, I do want to point out that the staff were really lovely and did everything they could to help guests with whatever they needed and really went above and beyond. [Details]

[Details]
