Zero stars if I could
This hotel is advertised as a fun, party resort but it is FAR from it. Upon arrival we were told that we needed to pay a $40CAD tax on our connecting rooms (which we were not informed of prior) and then were told that there was no more availability for the rooms we had booked which were two double beds per room. That was the first. Secondly the security found any and every way to kick us out of the pools, lobby bars and sports bars for “being too drunk” or not dressing “appropriately” even if we were wearing shorts and a crop tank or cover ups. In 30° weather you would think that you didn't need to be covered head to toe to get a drink…. Other members we met on our trip complained of the same things, with staff saying they were too intoxicated to be in certain places when they were clearly coherent. Not sure why you put free mini bars in peoples rooms and unlimited shots but don't want them to be drunk at the same time. Anywsys aside from that the food was DISGUSTING AND UNDERCOOKED SOMETIMES EVEN RAW (videos and pictures of my raw burger and other food) and we were subjected to the bathroom during all hours of the night during our 7 day stay. Food has no flavour and is nowhere near a representation of Mexico and their delicious meals. Resort seems to cater to more of their European clients, avoiding any and all spice and seasoning. The pools close at like 7pm so we just continued our nightly festivities at the beach most times even though sometimes security tried to tell us to leave there too, but our Spanish speaking friends we made spoke to them for us. A la carte restaurants are underwhelming, only the steakhouse was decent. Also the 24/7 sports bar only serves disgusting hotdogs, hamburgers and sandwiches in the fridge that u need to microwave alongside stale chips and cheese sauce that is also cold. Very small resort wouldn't recommend. Maybe one of the other rius

Terrible experience, I will never return!!!
PROS: Bed was comfortable, clean rooms and the wait staff were great. CONS: The beach was awful!! Right next to the Marina, all I could smell was gas and diesel from the HUNDREDS of the boats that went back and forth. The beach, if you want to call it that, was so small. The area to swim was pretty much non existent, and the smell from the boats made me not even want to get in the water. The pool was freezing!!!!! We struggled to get in, and when we did it was so cold that we wanted to get out. The Food was so gross, my partner lost 15 lbs on this trip and he's a fit guy who loves to eat. I lost 5 lbs and my pregnant friend lost 5 lbs. Even the front desk agreed that it was gross, pretty awful when the locals wont even eat at the resort. This was the first time on a trip to Mexico were we had to eat off the resort multiple times because we were so hungry. The front desk could barley speak English which was struggling. We were put in a room right behind the music and stage, it was a struggle to sleep or relax between the music by the pool and the amount of boats going back and forth on the "beach" (cesspool of gas and diesel is what I would call it). The front desk gave us keys to a new room which we requested on the last day we were there so we could sleep, and they gave us keys so an already occupied room... this happened to another guest that stayed there as well, only she walked in on a threesome happening. Awkward!!!!! The a la cart restaurants (there were 2) were just more of the same discussing food. There were so many rules at this resort, it was hard to enjoy any part of this place. You were no allowed to eat anywhere by the pool or on the beach, only where the food was served. My partner wore a cut off Vans shirt to the gross buffet one night and I wore a crop tank top with short shorts, he was asked to leave to change, while I was much more exposed than he was. We planned on just hanging out around the resort while we were there, however, we ended up planning excursions just to get away from the place so we could have some enjoyment. Someone that was there the same week had their US money stollen from their safe as well. There's no room in this resort where you can have peace and quiet, any room wither it was ocean from, facing the road or the court yard, it was so loud!! You could barly speak to the person next to you sitting by the pool. I slept for days when I got home because of the lack of sleep. While the rooms might have had comfortable beds, the noise kept us awake, so ear plugs are a must if you're a light sleeper, every echos. If you get a room with a smaller balcony, you can't even sit out on it. You can only stand. I'll never return to this place or recommend it to anyone. I would rather splurge a little more and stay somewhere where I can actually enjoy myself. The trip from Hell is what this was... I've been the Mexico 5 times and have stayed at resorts 3 stars - 5 stars and never experienced anything like this one, I'd give this one a big ONE star. You may as well have been in Cuba at a 2 star resort. Just awful!

Didn't disappoint
We stayed here for a week on a family vacation. We had 3 luxury suite ocean front rooms in the Coral Level at the Iberostar Cancun. The rooms were very nice, bed was comfortable, minibar stocked daily with local and American beer as well as red and white wine, pop, juice and water. There was a Nespresso machine with a combo of pods, teas and pretzels and chips or peanuts for snacks. The view from the room is amazing. The pool was laid back but had some good entertainment and games if you want to partake. Had to get up by 7am to get prime seating but on the beach there was almost always some lounger's available. For the restaurants, we usually don't care too much for buffets but this one was excellent for breakfast lunch or dinner. We had ribeye steak and lobster and crab multiple times. The steakhouse was pretty good with a salad bar appetizer bar. The Italian restaurant was better in our opinion. We didn't care too much for the Hibachi restaurant but it may have been an off night for the show chef. Didn't make it to the Mexican or American restaurants. The bars all had top shelf liquor, although you have to request it at the pool bars. The grounds were clean and the workers were very friendly. Nightly entertainment was ok. We really liked the singer and the Mexican mariachi. There is a bus stop just down on the main road that takes you up the hotel strip or downtown for 12 pesos in an air conditioned and comfortable bus. The beach was red flag for the week but people still went in the water and they had a very attentive lifeguard on duty. Playing in the waves and searching for seashells was fun. Check in and out was pretty efficient and the concierge was helpful. We rented the big cabana for a day poolside which was enjoyable having an air conditioned retreat with a private bathroom with shower. All in all we had a great time and if I was to return to Cancun hotel zone i would like to stay here again.
