Worst resort and the worst holiday i have ever had
I booked a 2 week vacation at this resort. BIG MISTAKE! It was a bday trip. It was crap from the start and only got worse. I requested a quiet room, top floor, king bed. As a single person, I already pay more for the holiday per person than a couple gping but that doesn't matter to RIU. They actually treat your worse by the staff, especially as a single woman. After checking in, I recieved a room in the 7block on the ground floor. It had a very potent odor of mold, which as an asthmatic and allergic to mold was not going to work, alos they pushed 2 beds together to make a king bed. I went immediately to change the room. They gave me a room in block 2 on the second floor. This room also smelled of mold, but inwas exhausted from our 9 hour flight and to annoyed to change it again. The next morning I went to the fro t desk and requested a move again, they said they had no rooms available to suit my needs. The noise at this resort was beyond concert level. The screaming drunk people, the pounding music from different pool locations with Dj's competing for attention drove me to insanity. I slept a couple nights in that room, immediately getting a respiratory infection from the mold. If i was lucky i got 6 hours sleep in 4 nights. I had to sleep with ear plugs and my beats headphones on top to try and block out some of the noise which goes til 5am and then start all over agin. I requested it to be fixed. It worked a couole times and then didnt work again. I called 3 times for water and coffee to be fefilled in one day. At 1030pm they finally brought up coffee, but not water. I was sick and needed water. You can't drink the tap water at this resort. The safe didn't work either I that room. I had to carry my passport and money around, which is not safe. I asked to be moved again and also to be moved to their sister resort at the Riu Baja Camifornia, but they said there was no availability there. They said room in block 4 was available and should be quieter. By this time I had spent the majority of my first week moving 3 times and trying to get some help from the front desk. The manager was very rude, I cooperative and not willing to try and make things better. After 2 nights in this cramped, noisy, hotel I eventually paid to move to the Riu Baja Californai. They wouldn't even pay the 100 pesos to move my luggage over. I walked it with a bell boy. They made no efforts to arrange ge this resort change, I had to do it by myself (by walking back and forth between the hotels) and pay for an upgrade of 800 Usd on top of my 3400 CDN I had originalky paid. This resort was packed, the pools were full, the chairs reserved by people who put their towels down and then didn't come back for hours as they went to eat or sit in the pools. The restaurant staff I found to be rude. The pool bar staff were also rude unless you tipped extremely well. The rooms were not clean to Cdn standards. I am pretty sure there was bodily fluids on the couch and what looked like blood around bathroom light switch. I saw hotel patrons doing blow on the beach which they bought from the merchant selking t-shirts, within the roped off area and around kids. THERE WAS NO WHERE ON THIS RESORT WHERE ONE COULD FIND PEACE AND QUIET AT ALL. I didn't see any security staff, and trust me there was a lit of drunk people and drugs. I never saw any staff member checking the water quality of the pools or cleaning the pools. We booked a 6pm time on the pickelball courts. We got there early and thank goodness because there was no lights on the courts. We had to finish early. 2 of the paddles were damaged out of 4. I reported this to the front desk staff as well. Horrified by the lack of customer service and the staff. I will never return to any RIU hotel ever agin. P.S THE BAJA CALIFORNIA WAS NOT MUCH BETTER. THE ROOM WAS MORE SPACIOIS AND SOMEWHAT QUIETER AT NIGHT. THE HOUSEKEEPING WAS BETTER BUT THE SAME APPLIED TO THE POOLS, NOISE AND DRUGS. Also, I booked a tour from Delta excursions at the hotel and they left without me on the return. The staff there saying they have nothing to do with excursions being sold on their property and Delta took no responsibility for it either. You can't swim near the beach due to rip currents and the pools were too loud and crowded. The internet barely ever worked throughout the resort, probably due the pure size of it and the amount of people. I had to pay for roaming and had a sizeable phone bill on my return. Albeit this has nothing to do with the hotel, my visa was declined at pharmacy on the main strip by the marina, because it was flagged by my Canadian bank. Use cash at any pharmacy. Honestly, this 2 week trip was a nightmare and I wish I would have never booked it.

8 Glorious Days at Marquis Los Cabos.
This was the perfect adults only resort experience for a couple to enjoy. Our beautiful 5th floor oceanfront room was well laid out and always kept clean and well supplied. The bath towels and housecoats were unusually plush, particularly compared to other resorts where we have stayed. Our shower had excellent water pressure and lots of hot water. The morning housekeeping and turndown services were done at the times we had requested during our initial check-in. We also followed the advice of a previous reviewer of this resort and booked our dinner reservations for the whole week in advance when we checked in so that we could get our preferred times. The food here was excellent, especially at the breakfast buffet, the lunchtime poolside taco station, and most outstandingly at the special seafood tasting dinner at Dos Mares which is offered only twice a week so must be reserved well in advance. We enjoyed a couple of dinners at the Italian restaurant Pergola and also had a lovely Asian meal at Sakke. We were able to eat all of our meals outside at each location although the evenings can get cool, so we recommend that you bring a sweater or jacket to sit outdoors at night. We prefer quiet areas during the daytime while we relax on a poolside chaise and quickly discovered that the quietest place to do so is at end of the infinity pool where there are waterfall spouts. Although this resort had the usual suspects who ran out and reserved chaises with their towels early in the morning before they actually needed or used them, we were okay with this because we prefer shade and those early birds always wanted chaises in the full sun. So, it worked out! The resort staff were uniformly very welcoming and helpful, often going out of their way to make our experience a happy one. Although this is an all-inclusive resort, we still offer tips to people who have gone the extra mile to help us and especially leave a daily tip for the hardworking housekeeping staff. This feels like an appropriate tangible acknowledgement and is simply respectful of what they are doing. The beach can be somewhat difficult to walk along because the sand is a bit gritty and it's on a steep slant down to the water's edge. It's also not safe to swim in the ocean right in front of the resort because of the strong undercurrent and unexpected big waves that can occasionally occur. It is possible to walk 15 minutes further north to the Hilton beach where we have been told that it is safter to swim, although we did not do this. However, the pools at Marquis are well maintained and a pleasure to swim in. The other note to pass along is that Marquis is right on the edge of a busy highway, so traffic noise can be heard when you're in your room. Over the first couple of days, this eventually became simply background White Noise to us, especially at night. The best thing is that we never heard traffic noise whenever we were on the ocean side of the property since the large resort building itself served as a perfect sound buffer. We will definitely return to Marquis the next time we travel to Los Cabos. It was the best holiday that we've ever had in Mexico!

WARNING: DO NOT STAY AT ROYAL SOLARIS, CABO
If you're considering staying at Royal Solaris in San Jose del Cabo, here's my advice: don't. What was supposed to be a relaxing vacation turned into a nightmare that my wife and I will never forget. We went to Mexico for some rest and dental work, but instead, we were drugged, robbed, and trapped in a foreign country, with the hotel staff and even the local police working against us. Here's the full story of what happened and why you should think twice before booking a stay at this hotel. We arrived at Royal Solaris on Thursday, October 10, 2024, through RCI, excited for a peaceful getaway in San Jose del Cabo. The first night went smoothly. We had a drink, grabbed a quick meal, and went to bed early. The following day, Friday October 11, 2024, started off well enough. Around 2 PM, we went to the main pool bar. I had a couple of small, slushy drinks served in small Dixie cups (not full-sized cocktails) while we chatted with a couple we'd met. Everything seemed fine. Later in the afternoon, I asked my wife to grab another drink for me since I was already in the pool. She brought me a blue cocktail that immediately tasted strange—salty and off. She tasted it as well and agreed that something was wrong but we didn't want to leave it so we finished it. We thought it was just a bad mix, but I only managed to drink about two-thirds and my wife drank 1/3. A Horrific Turn of Events About 30 minutes after drinking the blue cocktail, everything spiraled out of control. My body felt unbearably heavy, and I couldn't coordinate my movements. My vision blurred, and I was unable to function normally. Standing up became an impossible task. By the time I realized something was seriously wrong, I was already incapacitated. My wife, sensing the gravity of the situation, started recording everything on her phone. Without her vigilance, we wouldn't have been able to piece together the horrifying events that followed. Here's what happened: • By 5 PM, I was severely incapacitated. I could barely move, and I noticed injuries: a broken toe, a damaged foot, and scratches on my arms. My personal belongings, including my shoes, hat, shirt, and Prada sunglasses, were missing. • There's a blank space in both my memory from 5 PM to 9 PM, and my wife started regaining memories slightly earlier around 8pm. I have blurry flashes of events but no coherent recollection. • Security then separated my wife from me without my knowledge. Telling her she was being arrested for looking for my missing belongings. Sensing danger, she instinctually began recording. • The hotel staff threatened to arrest her if she didn't return to her room with a security gaurd. My wife refused to go alone, scared of being alone with the guard, she demanded a key card instead, and continued recording. Her refusal to stop recording seemed to agitate them, and they threatened to call the police multiple times. • She repeatedly asked to speak with the manager, but they wouldn't address her concerns as long as she was recording. The Hotel's Alarming Behavior My wife's law enforcement background helped her navigate this escalating situation. She understood the potential dangers of complying with their demands. As she continued recording, she confronted the staff about their behavior, asking if they would treat their daughters the same way. Their responses were chilling, with one employee coldly stating, “I don't have kids.” Chillingly, continuing to refuse to help. When the manager finally arrived, she refused to engage with her beyond threatening to call the police, due to my wife continuing to record. Multiple times she turns it on, and off. My wife was begging for help and they threatened arrest. At that point, my wife realized the hotel was not going to help her file a report, and she called the police. After multiple attempts to contact the local police, she finally got through—only for things to go from bad to worse. The manager came down to the pool area and told me that my wife was going to be arrested. I was still drugged and just started have have memories coming back in pieces. The Police's Shocking Indifference When the police arrived, my wife initially felt relief, assuming they would help. Instead, they refused to take oue statements. My wife greeted them and tried to explain what had happened, but they ignored her, focusing only on the manager's version of events. On video, she can be heard repeatedly asking to file a report, but they refused every time. At one point, the manager told the police a story in Spanish that we couldn't understand. We were essentially silenced, unable to communicate our side of the story. The police brushed us off, telling us we could return to our room but offering no assistance and blatantly refusing to take our report, all clearly seen on video. It is terrifying to watch my wife beg the police to take her report and they refuse. The police finally told the manager they had to give us a key card and let us into our room without being arrested. But on video, the Manager states that we were “not allowed to leave the hotel” which is repeated back to her. This chilling statement made us feel like prisoners in a foreign country. The police refuse to help and the hotel states we can't leave. Security and maintenance personnel knocked on our door throughout the night, checking on us every hour or two. None of them spoke English, and their constant presence felt like surveillance rather than assistance. Trapped and Terrified We went to bed, completely confused about what transpired. By 5 am neither of us could sleep so we reviewed the videos and realized the gravity of the situation. We contacted our kids who watched us on Facetime who confirmed our pupils were dilated. We put it all together and realized we were drugged, robbed, injured, and abandoned by the very people who should have been responsible for our safety. The hotel staff's threats and the police's refusal to help left us feeling trapped and vulnerable. Our attempts to seek help were unsuccessful. RCI, our booking platform, couldn't assist us immediately due to the holiday weekend. Our credit card company was also closed on the weekend. With no support system, we were left to fend for ourselves in a hostile environment. We decided to escape. Early the next morning, we called an Uber and sprinted to the vehicle waiting outside the hotel gates. Security guards pursued us, but we managed to get into the car and flee before they could stop us. The relief we felt as we sped away was immense, but the trauma of what had happened lingered. Realizing We Were Drugged Once we reached the safety of a new accommodation in La Paz, we began piecing together the events. We sought out the advice of a doctor as they confirmed the symptoms we experienced—confusion, memory loss, and an absence of a hangover despite consuming minimal alcohol—were classic signs of being drugged. Here's why we're certain this was the case: • We are moderate drinkers and have never experienced such severe effects from drinking, especially considering they were small drinks. • We woke up the next morning completely sober and clear-headed, which wouldn't have been possible if we had simply been intoxicated. My wife reacts poorly and would have been sick for days, but she was sober at 5am. • Our children, who we FaceTimed during the ordeal, said we looked “strung out” with dilated pupils—clear signs of drugging. My wife slurs her speech when drunk, but this never occurred at any time on the video, her speech was very clear and coherent. Aftermath: Feeling Unsafe Everywhere The aftermath of this experience has been devastating. We were left with injuries, stolen belongings, and a profound sense of insecurity. The hotel staff and local authorities failed us entirely. Instead of helping us, they exacerbated our trauma, leaving us with no choice but to flee and seek refuge elsewhere. A Warning to All Travelers Here's what you need to know: 1. Avoid Royal Solaris: This hotel is unsafe. The staff's behavior was not only unprofessional but dangerous. Their actions, combined with the local police's indifference, create a hazardous environment for guests. 2. Be cautious with drinks: We believe we were drugged through a drink served at the pool bar. Reports of similar incidents in the Cabo area are becoming more common. 3. Don't rely on local authorities: If something happens, the police may not help. Our experience showed that they prioritized the hotel's interests over the safety and well-being of guests. 4. Document everything: My wife's decision to record the events likely saved us. Without those videos, we would have had no evidence to support our claims. Our lawyers said we are extremely lucky, but the trauma we suffered as a result doesn't feel lucky as it has shattered any sense of safety, stopping us from ever to Mexico as a result. This experience has forever changed how we view travel and safety. We will never return to Mexico after what happened, and we urge you to think twice before visiting this hotel or region. Your safety and well-being are not worth the risk. Looking back, the videos are chilling. Why did they never offer to help my wife? Why was she threatened for merely searching for my missing belongings? These unanswered questions only reinforce our Warning: Royal Solaris is not a safe place. Women and families, be especially cautious. Protect yourself and your loved ones by avoiding this hotel at all costs. For review verification, I have a different name on my profile to protect our safety considering what happened, but the hotel can validate the incident with the Manager, Security Guard and Police on October 11, 2024, and the lawyers submitted the videos to the consulate to confirm. Our advice, stay away for your safety!

A Serene Escape Amidst the Waves and Stars
As a first-time visitor to Cabo San Lucas region, I was happy to stay at a resort that can only be described as unique. The meticulously maintained landscape, sprawling across the vast property, left a positive impression. The promise of unobstructed ocean views was fulfilled. There's a certain magic in falling asleep to the rhythmic lullaby of the waves—that natural luxury that was ours to enjoy every night. From the expansive patio of Section 19, the panoramic vista of water meeting sky offered a perfect backdrop for both daydreaming and star gazing late night. While the rooms may carry a "vintage" charm, they hold a character all their own. The dual restrooms were a bonus for our visit, ensuring convenience and privacy for both Mother and Daughter. Admittedly, the beds were on the firmer side, but the staff's prompt response to our request for mattress pads was commendable. Pillow connoisseurs might find the offerings a tad basic, so tempering expectations is wise. However, the air conditioning's efficiency and the surprisingly strong water pressure were modern comforts that did not disappoint. Bring your own shampoo if you are fussy. Nil conditioner. Room cleanliness, though, was somewhat inconsistent across the three rooms we viewed, with varying attention to detail with basic dusting (woodwork and shutters) and wall mark removal. Yet, the linens remained fresh and inviting. There's the option to have the room "refreshed" with a friendly scent spray if the space smells off to you. Call: 6000 for assistance. For those facing accessibility challenges, the resort's layout may seem daunting at first glance. The carts, while fun for some, could pose a difficulty for others. As enthusiasts of leisurely strolls, we often chose to explore the grounds on foot, embracing the resort's natural beauty at our own pace. The private beach, a tranquil retreat, reminded us of nature's awesome power with its non-swimmable waters. But fear not, for the well-maintained pools provided a delightful alternative for a refreshing dip, each with its own atmosphere, from serene to lively at the popular Sky Pool. Dining was a pleasure, with a diverse selection of quality options. The Market's innovative concept (smart to offer a Food Hall) and the Golf Clubhouse Restaurant, along with the sister hotel's downtown offerings, kept our culinary journey interesting throughout the week. A special mention must go to the fresh tacos from La Choya's Taco “Van”—a must-try. In town shuttle services were easily accessible- Don't forget to book your spot in advance! Need a cart to collect you at a certain time? Simply pick up the phone to request. We never had to wait mor than 5mins. Many will enjoy the friendly vibe / karaoke nights at The AFTER. The morning stretching classes offered a relaxed start to the day, though the activity location varied daily—no biggie. Shout-out to the staff. Ops cleanliness was a consistent theme, with public restrooms and various dining spots were always clean. My only wish would be hand sanitizers at the main buffet La Nao. If they were out, I did not spot. Other areas provided. In conclusion, our visit was pleasing, marked by unexpected delights like evening fireworks (private wedding's on the beach) that added a touch of wonder to our first stay. This resort, with its blend of charm and great customer service, promises a memorable escape for all who visit.

Amazing Resort - Lost in Translation
You will arrive after a short 45 minute trip from the airport. Hotel arrival area is vast and beautiful. Staff are friendly and are ready to help where they can. Unfortunately, check in is not until 3 pm. It seemed this is done on purpose to allow "concierge" staff to help you organize your stay. That is really not their true intention. They pitch excursions and suggest over priced costs then offer a "deal". For example $500 per couple for a snorkeling excursion but we can offer this at $100 per couple. We decided to pass on our arrival. The next morning we were ready to book our excursions. Different "concierge", different pitch, different pricing. It took me a while before the lights came on, they were pitching a " membership" to Hyatt Resorts. We heard from others who attended the sales pitch (breakfast), that is how you get the discounted excursion pricing that the "investment" is $15000 US! We paid full price for the snorkeling trip which was wonderful but we did not like the bait and switch that seemed to be constant. Our experience overall was wonderful. the food in the restaurants was good to excellent. Staff are constantly cleaning everything, you will notice that. The resort is gated so we felt very safe. The security keeps tabs on you with your comings and goings, added comfort! No limit on the cocktails, very tasty! Wine list was pricy considering the closeness to California, this was disappointing. Cabo is an expensive area, it seemed that the expectation was these tourists are loaded, so let's charge them the $$$$ we can. We loved our holiday and the experience but will likely try another destination in the future. Thanks Cabo for your amazing views, hot weather and beautiful beaches!!

Second time at GFA - Great family vacation
Our first visit was before we had kids, and the quality of stay was exceptional The hotel caters for both relaxing and partying, with those two worlds separate. The price point likely keeps the demographic of guests in a category that keeps the vibe chilled and respectful. Whilst not marketed as a family resort, they cater to little kids well. Beach and hotel were spotlessly clean. Food quality remains very high, and you can see the pride they staff have in their job. We learned our lesson from our first visit that you will get put in a terrible room, depsite paying a premium for specific rooms/areas. Fr our second visit, we actually cbtacted the hotel before departure and got them to clarity n writing and on a map where our room will be. Depsite this, we still got put in a terrible room and had to hassle mgmt to get moved on day 2. The room we paid for and they committed to, was actually not even functional (as the entire block was under renovation), so after a lot of stress we got moved to the perfect room on day 2. This process essentially sucked the joy out of the first 2 days of the 7 day trip (just like last time). But with older parents and a 2 year old with us, the move was necessary. Remaining 5 days were exceptional. It's a great hotel if you want to remain active, as it's on a hillside so you cover a lot of ground. Not ideal hotel for strollers or anyone with issues climbing stairs/ramps. They do have frequent gold carts to help people get around. The gym is great and has pano views. We will be back, but once again, will get the hotel to commit in writing the specific room/area before arrival to give us half a chance of getting what we need/paid for.
