Our stay at the Riu Jalisco
We stayed for a week at the beginning of December. Our first impression of the resort was great. It was clean and spacious and nicely set up. The check in was quick and staff immediately greeted us and got our luggage and offered us a drink. We got to our room, the room was clean and a great size, lots of space. It was 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 kids. The food, honestly, 10/10. We loved the Italian restaurant and the Asian one, unfortunately didn't get to try the steakhouse as it was booked for a wedding and the wait was too long (and if you got kids, we need food asap haha). The buffet was AMAZING, we ate dinner there 3 or 4 nights in a row, the food was beautifully executed- different themes every night and a HUGE variety of food from seafood, sushi, meats, starches, fruit and deserts- everything was stunning and so delicious. Truthfully, we never went hungry, we were constantly stuffed with how amazing the food was. The entertainment was pretty good, a few shows were better than others but overall the entertainment was a solid 8/10. The staff were incredible, friendly and made sure you were happy and satisfied. The drinks were delicious, the beer was great- best drinks we have had at a all inclusive resort. If you get a chance to go- order the “doctor funk”, it's tasty. The staff/entertainment staff were SO amazing with all the children, putting on amazing shows, games and doing crafts and scavenger hunts and face painting. I was impressed. The beach was stunning. The pools were awesome. Great size and always could find sun loungers to relax on. The only negative thing I could say would be the beds, not the most comfortable however it wasn't the worst and we still had a decent nights sleep. You will read reviews and people have negative things to say but honestly I am not sure where they stayed cause it definitely wasn't at the Riu Jalisco. Sure, the rooms are “outdated” but they aren't even that bad and I don't spend every second looking at every nook and cranny- could eventually use a facelift but the rooms are just fine and for the amount of time you actually spend in it, you won't notice a thing unless you sit in the room all day. A big bonus is that the resort isn't all that big, everything is in nice close proximity and that is a big bonus especially when you have littles. From the front of the hotel to the beach, maybe a 2 minute walk. Wifi worked great except at the beach area. All in all, we had an extremely amazing time and we will be back in the future.

Perfect Place for Rest and Relaxation
Samba Vallarta is a smal resort so getting everywhere is very quick. There isn't the glitz and glamour that you will find at the newer, bigger resorts;which we were trying to avoid and why we chose to come here. The beach is as beautiful as described in all the reviews; soft sand, surprisingly warm ocean water and the waves were small. We never had to stress about getting up early to save a lounge chair, there were always plenty available under the palaypa covers. The bonus was the small bar that would be setup on the beach so you didn't have to walk far to get a drink. We had upgraded rooms with balconies, very spacious and comfortable; lots of hot water and great water pressure. The buffet food was excellent, the best mashed potatoes ever! We never tried the restaurants The grounds are beautiful The pool was large and there is a great area for children in it with a pirate ship that has a slide. Lots of activities if that's what you are looking for; pool tables, ping pong, shuffleboard, yoga, aqua exercise and much more. They also have bike tours or you can borrow a bike and helmet at no cost if you want to explore on your own. Bucerías and the mega grocery stores are all less than a hour walk away. A very safe and comfortable walk, we went to both. Thank you to Bernardo, the concierge and Alejandro, Carlos, Salvador and Cele in the buffet for the excellent service. All of you helped make our stay very enjoyable. We will be back

Beautiful, enjoyable with some mobility challenges
Rui Palace Pacifico. We are seniors and have been on many all inclusive holidays, particularly in this area and we had a very enjoyable week long stay at the Rui Palace Pacifico. Our overall impressions were similar to many of the reviews here. Beautiful facility which is kept scrupulously clean, very pleasant, hardworking staff. No shortage of places to sit by the pools or on the beach, though they were, as a result, very tightly packed. Overall high standard of food, both in specialty restaurants and buffet. Constant stream of peddlers, and massage providers on the beach, who were not aggressive, but numerous. Hard to escape from the noise of activities during the day or the entertainment at night, which seemed to concentrate more on volume than quality. I will concentrate on our impressions in two areas, the Elite Club and provisions for the mobility challenged. Elite Club. This began badly for us on arrival. Arriving on a bus from the airport, we were greeted by a bellboy who put our luggage in a central area with that of the other arrivals and took us the Elite Check in Station which was a desk in the Elite Bar. Unfortunately, it was unmanned. We sat there for about 15mins, watching our fellow bus riders being checked in at the front desk. Eventually, a gentleman came and proceeded to check us in and go through the privileges afforded Elite guests. We returned to our luggage which were by now the only bags left in the middle of the lobby with no bellman present. We waited for about 15 min. finally taking our luggage and searching successfully for our room on our own. This has never happened to us at any other resort/hotel we have visited over the years and started our stay on a downer. That said, all the other privileges and experiences that came with Elite were first class and enjoyable. The room was beautiful with a full ocean view, the liquor dispenser had upgraded brands. We enjoyed using the Bali beds provided on the beach for elite guests and they were always available, though you had to be there early for one in the front row. The drink service was extremely good, particularly on days when Fernando was the designated server. Elite guests also had a special breakfast area on the balcony of the Steak House which had a small a la carte menu or you could go make your selection at the buffet nearby and bring it to your table. We found this a very pleasant and relaxing way to start our day, particularly if Hugo was the server. The Rui app allowed Elite guests to book restaurant reservations and this worked very well. The steak house seemed the only restaurant that had a significant lineup, so it was convenient to be able to make a reservation there. It was however a little uncomfortable when we showed up for our 6 pm reservation to wind our way through and past the lineup of about forty people to claim our reservation. Perhaps due to this demand, we were startled when, halfway through our starter, our main course was placed on our table. It made the whole experience feel rushed rather than relaxed. This did not occur at the other restaurants which delivered a relaxing, fine dining experience. Is Elite Club worth the extra cost? Yes, in our case. We were there for sun and sand and the Bali beds provided that in spades and though we did enjoy the other perks, we wouldn't have paid the extra cost just for them. Mobility. My wife is mobility challenged and finds stairs very difficult, so we were on the look out for ramps and elevators to give us access to areas. The Pacifico is conscious of this need, as we found 4 ramps in the design. However, it would seem that little thought was given to how a person could use them efficiently. The only ramp, that is available to leave the main building to access the pools, beach and other facilities, is on the tip of the east wing. That forces anyone in the west wing to walk the length of that wing, across the lobby and up the length of the east wing, doable, but annoying. Just as annoying is, if you are in the steak house or buffet and you want to use the washroom, you cannot access the one directly below you unless you can negotiate two flights of stairs. If not, you have to walk back down the wing across the lobby to the nearest one of the only 3 public washrooms in the resort. The ramp access to the main pool however, is exceptionally good, a long slow slope with a railing suitable for wheelchairs or those needing just a little support. Accessing the beach is a little confusing. The main access is by two large sets of stairs. We were told at registration that that there was a ramp at the west side of the property, but the hotel didn't like guests using it as it was for access for the hotel's vehicles for beach supply and servicing. However, as it was the only way for us to access the beach and the Bali beds, which were, to us, the main plus of paying for Elite Club, we used it anyway and it was perfect. Access is just by the hotel side of the activity pool. Coming back, you just had to ignore the large sign saying it was only for the use of hotel staff. We loved the Bali beds, but were disappointed to find that the new beach washrooms were not designed for mobility access, requiring users to go down two sets of stairs, one with a rail and one without. If you couldn't manage these stairs, the nearest bathroom required a trek across the width of the beach, up the ramp, through the pool areas and finally down the ramp giving access to the bathroom in the main building by the gym. This required some prior planning. Once we were aware of all the factors involved, we were able to access everywhere on the resort, however, not conveniently. It was surprising that the recent renovations had not thought through how to make the resort conveniently accessible to those that need assistance. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and may return, though not for a long stay.

Not a True 5 Star. And the FOOD IS TERRIBLE!
We booked 7 days with our daughter and 5 year old twin granddaughters. Up arrival, we were told that our superior 2 bedroom suite was facing the driveway into the resort. So after explaining that this is not ok, nor will we accept this, they presented us with a choice. 1. Parking lot. 2. Marina. Needless to say we chose the Marina. Which turned out to be really peaceful and was beautiful for Sunrises. But the fact that we had to argue for it was extremely disappointing. That was not a great start to our vacation that we had booked months in advance. Once we got into our room, it was good, clean, and spacious. However, make note that they only supply coffee for 2 days and after that you have to purchase your own or buy it from them. Not what I would consider all inclusive. The room also only provided 2 bottles of water in the room upon arrival. And there is no alcohol in the room which is pretty standard in an all inclusive. We've stayed at many 5 stars in pv, cancun and the Mayan among others. We also were prompted to sit through one of thier time share presentations, which of course we did not, and didn't appreciate the pushiness. Ridiculous. Our first experience at the buffet was shocking. The food was old, stuck together (pancakes molded together, French toast stuck to the pan and crusty, pre made mini waffles hard as rocks), then all the other food was beyond an unacceptable standard by all the people we spoke to about it.The yogurt bar and fruit were very nice. The rest of the buffet was inedible for the most part. We weren't the only ones who thought this. We got to choose 2 dinners at the only 3 restaurants on site. So we did. We went to the Japanese one 1st, the presentations were very nice but I got sick from it. 2nd reso was at the Mexican rest, it was also good, but with both restaurants, half the menu was not part of the all inclusive. Which was really upsetting and kind of angering, coupled with the other issues. But the entertainment at the Mexican rest was fun, a one guy key board dude with some interesting takes on hit music. It was fun and funny:) Our room never got cleaned prior to 330 on most days. If you want to use the gym, there is a 15.00 usa per day charge. This was never mentioned when we booked. The cost would be ridiculous to use it. Eveytime you order anything at any of the restaurants, snack bar, poolside etc, you have to sign the bill, which included the cost of your meal and a place for a tip and your room#. All while wearing a wrist band for your all inclusive. This was really annoying. One could not move around without opening a new tab each time you wanted move or leave. Entertainment was ok. We had a Mexican fiesta and a western night. The same food from inside was simply served outside, with a few small additions to the menu. Weird. The kids club was fun and the girls enjoyed it alot. The property was very clean and well maintained and beautiful. Plus we felt very safe onsite at all times. Staff was always very attentive and very nice. This resort seemed like it was unable to manage or track 'members/'timeshare' guests and the all inclusive guests at the same time. It was frustrating. We would not recommend going there as an all inclusive. And can't recommend going there at all because the food was so bad, and the lack of it being all inclusive and having to sign all the time is a deal breaker for us.

Fantastic
This trip was beyond our expectations. The staff were all excellent. Our room view was really pretty. We had upgraded to preferred and were glad that we did. The food was excellent everywhere we ate (Olio, Bordeaux, Portofino, Mezze). We had Oscar on his first night at Mezze and he was very sweet. The short rib was so great I ordered it twice and my hubby loved the mushroom ravioli at Portofino. Plus the snacks and lunch at Preferred Club, room service and poutine were awesome. Breakfast at Preferred Club was great every day. We honestly can't say anything negative about this resort. The beach, although not swimmable for beginners which we knew in advance (cool to watch the surfers) was super lovely to walk along both directions. Shout out to Danny the Pool Concierge who was super sweet and knowledgeable and all of the staff up there on the Rooftop; Dario and Julio! The pools and warm tubs on the Rooftop Preferred Club were a great place to hang out all day. We also enjoyed the music and shade in the afternoon down at the Barracuda Bar. At the Secrets Lobby Bar, Alex, Gabriella and the whole team were awesome! You can tell everyone here takes great pride in their jobs. Elizabeth our butler was helpful. We needed a couple things in our room and used the app….extremely responsive and helpful. We never felt the need to ‘save a lounger' or rush anywhere….it did not feel crowded at all and everyone had a smile on their face.

Very Disappointed
We arrived to a lobby full of locals and plates of food all over and spilled drinks and cups. I must say, as a travel agent walking into this was shocking. We checked in online and still waited 45 min to check in. Room was not what we asked for. As we were walking with the bell boy through the lobby, I slipped and fell from drinks that were spilled on the floor. There was not one caution sigh to be seen. I went to customer relations were Jessy Gomez was very helpful. Went to the room, I could hardly move my neck and had a terrible sleep. The next day Livs Manvel from the front desk who was amazing moved us to a ocean front room. The room and view were beautiful but the weddings everynight with crazy load music was a nightmare. Once again we could not sleep. Food was very good and the servers were the best. The sports bar was the worst because all the servers did was wait on the locals so we left and never went back in. The pool snack bar was the same. All they cared about was the locals. Never went back there either. Pool was small but the amount of locals in the pool was terrible so we spent all the time on the beach. Beach and service on the beach was great. The grounds at this resort were beautiful. I have never seen a resort that was so wonderful to walk around. It is sad to say that I would not return here for the simple fact that the locals take the place over and the ocean front rooms are right above the wedding venue and the music is ridiculous loud. I was at the Grand Palladium Jamaica in Oct 2024 and it was amazing. They need to make some changes at this one.
