Great all-around experience for the family

, North Vancouver, BC

We have never stayed at a Dreams resort, but we had heard they were great for families. This resort is one of the few that were built to be a Dreams/Secrets resort (many others were purchased and then rebranded as a Dreams resort) and it's fairly new, built in 2021 I believe. It's expansive and there is always a pool or restaurant to go to without much wait. You never feel like it's crowded or that you have to wait in a long line. Our kids (ages 3 and 6) loved the pools, waterpark, poolside grill, and especially Kids Club (starts at age 3). The rooms were well designed though there is construction going on next door to the resort that does impact some of the views of the more expensive 'oceanview' rooms. In this respect, I'd advise not splurging for the oceanview until the construction is complete. As for the staff, very friendly and accommodating. Great entertainment--fiesta night, fire show, st. patrick's day event. Good fun for the whole family. Make sure to ask for a VIP access for at least one day to try the Secretes French restaurant called Bordeaux--it was amazing. Also, Sofi at concierge was super helpful with setting us up with access to the restaurant. [Details]

The strong points
-family oriented -variety of pools -variety of restaurants -good buffet with many options -kids liked the kids club activities a lot -never seemed crowded or too busy
The weak points
-buffet closes mid-day (12-1) -it's a bit of a steep decline walk to the beach -not a swimmable beach but we knew that beforehand -oceanview rooms not worth cost due to construction impacting view

Beautiful Setting

Employees were extremely helpful, seemingly couldn't do enough to make our stay memorable. The food was very good, lots of choice and no need to pre-book any of the restaurants. Always a waiter ready to take your drink order. No need to get up early to get a lounge chair or umbrella for the day as there were always lots available any time of day. Entertainment could be improved upon. Beach was very stony and not good for swimmers, but good for surfers. Very enjoyable and would recommend. [Details]
