Recommend!
Overall, would highly recommend. We travelled in January and the pool was so cold! My kids are 6 years old and couldn't use the awesome kids park with slides/splash park because the water was just too cold. The ocean was much warmer. For the ocean, great snorkeling and some smooth sandy areas. You can pay a deposit and borrow snorkel gear for one hour/day. If you want to play in the waves a bit, highly recommend water shoes. Floaties are a fun idea to bring. The resort needs an app or at least a brochure! A one place to get all information - map (a useful one with all the paths, side paths, connectors, etc), the shows, the kids activities and the pool activities. You had to hunt down all the different links, and as far as figuring out where to walk - you just take a turn and see where it goes! By the end of the trip we found all the short cuts but sure would have been nice in the beginning to know we could go from the Palace to Tropical in 3-4 minutes as opposed to 10 minutes. We did 20,000 steps per day often, just at the resort! The shows were fantastic. Food was great. We got 3 a la cartes, and the rest they said was not available. However, when having your meal SO many empty tables so that was a bit frustrating. At the Italian Trattoria the four cheese gnocchi was amazing! They need to stock change for tipping. We asked every day at the Palace and only once did they have. We lucked out at the Tropical one day. Bring small bills if you can. We did pesos only and it worked for us. We took a cab (found at entrance) and did a cenote trip trusting the cab driver. Took us to an off the beaten track cenote, and it was fun! Our friends tried to walk to the one across the street, it's a 1 km walk once you across the street, it was busy, and they had jacked up the prices so they left. We stayed at the Palace and the room was good. We had two double beds and then a day bed which was hugely helpful. Awesome shower. They provide shampoo, conditioner and body wash, a safe, a few hangers, and quite a few drawers to unpack. They even had robes which came in handy. Great wifi throughout resort. Wifi cuts off at beach. Lots of fun shopping with their mall and outdoor shops. Overall, a great trip! About 1.5 hours from Tulum airport driving direct. We stayed at the Palace, the "higher end" resort. Buffet had more variety, drinks were top shelf, and the best beach area is directly across from the Palace (beach open to everyone, but far from drinks if you not staying at palace). Our friends stayed at Tropical, and from what we heard, Palace rooms nicer too. Palace all wrist band with no keys which was handy.

Exceeded Expectations
The hotel is great, just recently completed renovations in the Grand Sunset Princess half as of November/December 2025. The other remaining half is now undergoing renovation, expected to complete before Summer 2026. As a result, half of the resort was under occupancy and the other half was vacant, which resulted in no crowding or getting up early to occupy a lounge chair. Only three restaurants were not available, seven restaurants and their distinct styles were available during our stay from teppanyaki, steakhouse, Brazilian grill, French, Italian, Mexican, and noodle house. The food exceeded my expectations greatly, with quality and presentation of dishes outstanding to the contemporary redesigned interiors of restaurants and excellent service by all staff all-around. The resort is relatively quiet after sun-down, and pool bars and buffets closed relatively early at 5:00 pm. The beach was fantastic, with ample space and white sand. The water is not deep, meaning you can go 100m out and still only be mid-chest deep. Kayaking and minicats were free before any gratuities. Pool bars and beach bars were fantastic, and no worries about drinks being watered down or anything, they were of original quality and strength. All the cocktail options were fantastic to have, go for their strawberry mojitos! It is a great resort for families, as they offer fun waterslides of all ages to use, and have a small water playground for children to use. Unfortunately, due to the resort not at its full capacity and occupancy, there is no nightlife. The theatre with the makeshift dance floor meant at best only ten people dancing at a time, however its the people around you that make it fun not the quantity - great time! However, this is why I do not recommend it as a singles, or clubs and partying resort. It is great for couples, and families wanting to just relax and take it a little slow, which was perfect for my partner and I. There is a massive air-conditioned gym on site, with many squat racks and ample equipment. ATM fees on-site are atrocious, make sure you have any gratuities beforehand with you or a card that compensates for withdrawal fees as they are about $17 CAD. Staff were great from housekeeping, bar staff, and restaurants. The wildlife was unforgettable to see, from deer, capybaras, coati, and monkeys! Thank you for an amazing experience!
