The staff were very friendly for the most part. The wait staff at the Riviera platinum area were very friendly and accommodating and gave excellent service. Booking the a la carte restaurants with the app was easy but you had to be fast. You are only allowed to book 3 days in advance and they fill up fast, especially Mama Mia.
Walking around this large resort would have been easier with more visible signage. Luckily the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable after the long walk from the lobby to the platinum section(there is also a shuttle). [Details]

The grounds are like walking in a park, very beautiful. The buildings, courtyards, pool area, and our room were very clean. Entertainment was great, they had a special performance by the Tenors. Truly Amazing!!
The beach area had seaweed for the first three feet but then clear, but not enough chairs .
The main pool area has a taco hut --delicious
Over all, inspite of my mobility issues, we enjoyed our vacation very well. [Details]

It was clean and efficient place. Food was great. Drink lines were a little longish but they have burgers and dogs on the beech. Beech is beautiful but there are some stones you have to tip toe past to get to the Sandier areas. Waves were very moderate and I was comfortable with my 11 and 12 year Olds in the ocean without their life jackets. The shows were mostly amazing. Although my daughter was very upset when we missed the sign up list for karaoke night due to some misinformation on one of their signs. Fire and drums blew our minds. It is way to freaking cold in the Miso and French restaurants. [Details]

took 4 calls to get my luggage brought to my room....it was 130 am when it finally arrived.

Grand sunset princess is a beautiful resort. It was fairly priced for a one week stay. Definitely recommend upgrading to the platinum package, as you get a private lobby, private pool area and really nice rooms. The beach was beautiful sand and the water is clear. The only improvement it needs is food. The buffets were always lacking refills and the a la carts provided poorly seasoned, over cooked or just plain gross. Servers even suggested what not to order because other guests had complained. The wildlife is pretty unmanaged, especially the raccoon rats - they will come attack you at the pool for your food or drink, so that's a nuisance but you can work around it. The monkeys and deer are nice to look at. [Details]

This was our 2nd visit to this wonderful resort, and we will be back. The food is good the staff are wonderful. special shout outs to Ady at the Platinum pool, very friendly and great service. And also want to recognize Axel Garcia at the Miso Teppenyaki Restaurant, very entertaining and handled a difficult party with patience. [Details]

Overall it was a fabulous experience. The staff were very friendly (everyone from the grounds people on up) Rarely was it that I was not greeted with an hola or hello. I was on my own but noticed there were a lot of families (and it wasn't the holiday period yet) the children were delightful, in most cases, but if you prefer completely adult this is not the resort for you. In the week I was there I got to eat at 3 of the al a carte restaurants, Mama Mia's, La Hacienda and Miso. Great food and service. My recommendation is to book them just after you arrive, as I would have liked to have tried the fourth one. I did find the main dining room (buffet) very busy and noisy. [Details]

Stayed for a week, I found the resort staff very friendly and helpful. We had a few nice excursions that were easy to plan, and had some wonderful relaxing days by the pool. [Details]

I would like to start of with saying the food and drinks were great and the staff working are very friendly and really amazing. The rooms are clean and very nice.
Where we were dissapointed is the lack of accommodation to help make this a romantic trip being that it was our honeymoon I am very well traveled and this is the first resort I've ever stayed at that didn't care to help make this special or romantic in anyway. The most we were ever offered was chocolate covered strawberries( which first round was eaten by ants and second round was eaten by Mexican raccoons) and a bottle of champagne. I wanted to have this trip be special and just seemed like people at front desk or concierge could've cared less. Was very dissapointed in this. Also we've stayed at many resorts and usually book swim up rooms for the access to pool but the cut off here is 7pm and if ur caught past then swimming in the swim up which you pay extra for they stand there and demand u get out and don't leave until you comply. This was def a first for us and unfortunately even though these seem like small things these are issues that will stop us from coming back. Quality was not worth the price [Details]

We stayed 7 days at Grand Sunset Princess, it was our, my wife and I, first time at this resort, not our first time in Mexico.
What a great time we had there.
Room, grounds, pools, buffet, shows, drinks, beach, beach bar and snack hut, poolside taco stands, poolside hamburger and hotdog BBQ stand, lobby bar, sports bar were fantastic.
We had so much fun at the pool bar, Eric, activities animator, was great at his job.

We went to xplor, at xcaret park and had a blast. Ziplines, jeeps and water activities were amazing. The buffet at xplor was incredible.
We laughed like kids all day there.
We are planning our next trip there already, and we are bringing friends with us. [Details]

Everything was amazing from the check in to the room to the pools and the food. Wildlife roaming the resort was also enjoyed by us. Staff were great, helpful and courteous. Food choices were many and all were perfectly prepared. We enjoyed large buffet, snack bars and a la carte. Went to five of the different a la carte restaurants and the steak a second night. We really appreciated the online app for booking meals and navigation of the resort. [Details]

Hotel was great, clean and well maintained, Staff were very friendly and helpful, The grounds were beautiful. The restaurants were great, as well as the burger and taco stands.
Enjoyed the wildlife. My wife became sick for a few days, the chef/cook and the staff in the buffet went above and beyond to make certain dishes as well as ginger tea to help her feel better.

We have never been to Cancun, Mexico before. We loved every moment of it. We went from Saturday March 25, 2023 to Saturday April 1, 2023. I think next time we will try a 9 day stay. The Hotel/Resort was amazing. It was very clean and welcoming. It is nicely updated. The rooms are very nice as well. The grounds, pools and beach are kept very nice as well. There are a lot pools to choose from. Almost each pool has a swim up bar. For lunch if you want something quick there is a burger place or taco place to eat by the pool. The buffets are really good too. There is a lot of variety of food to eat. The restaurants that you can reserve are great as well. Just make sure to book them early because they fill up fast. The staff is very friendly. We had one really good day at the beach with little seaweed. The other days there were lots of seaweed. The beaches were not rocky. I really liked that you could see the bottom of the ocean too. Make sure to book an excursion. We had a great time visiting Tulum and snorkeling.
I would recommend this resort 100%. We will book there definitely again! [Details]

After reading a lot of reviews we chose the Grand Sunset as there was hardly a bad review. We booked a Laguna Villa and upon arrival the disappointment started. We were to have a private check in and that did not happen at all. The Villa was really nice, bed was excellent and the out door shower was a great feature. The adults only pool and cabana area was really nice but if you didn't get up and in line by 8:30am to book a cabana for the next day you didn't get one. The grounds were amazing and the staff worked really hard and keeping it that way. I have upgraded at other resort and you do expect a little extra for it. The buffets were not great each time I went, everything I tried was warm at best. I did try the seafood a la carte and it was the worst I have ever had on vacation. It tasted like everything had been cooked in dirty water. I did get a chance to have the Miso Thai and it was amazing. Other a la cartes sounded great from other guest but you could not get into them. Breakfast at the chill out was included with the villas and that place was the best part of our trip. Our group ate there 3 evenings as well and we knew it cost extra but it was worth a good meal compared to the buffets. All there food was cooked amazing and tasted the same, not sure why the other parts of the resort can't cook like that. I would recommend that the resort include this place as a upgrade and included with the Villas. Because we payed for supper the first night we got access to the beach club each day and it was worth it. That part of the beach was quiet, there was always a spot and the bar service was excellent. The main pool bars always had a huge line up for service which is a big disappointment. You don't go on holidays to wait 45 minutes for a drink.
The shows I did catch were excellent and did not disappoint.

We stayed there for a week and found the food very bland and boring. Restaurants impossible to make reservations at, very unhelpful and some rude people working at counter and at departure/arrival area of lobby. Rooms okay but nothing special. We had a do not disturbe on door 2x and once they came in and cleaned room anyway and another time opened door while we were in room! Pool bars ….good luck getting a drink unless your the one tipping highest on every drink. Can't get chairs in beach or pool unless you take towels down to chairs at 6am. People do that and you can watch those chairs reserved all day but no one around that uses them. Witnessed two having sex in pool 15' away from kids swimming. [Details]

This is not a 5* resort. The food was average at best! Bartenders at the pool bars make you wait a long time if you didn't have $$ in your hand to tip! My room leaked a lot of water from a ceiling vent the first night in the room . Beds were very old and uncomfortable. I would say this resort is a 4* at best . Wont visit again or give a good review to family and friends

We have stayed at this location a number of years ago and can tell you without hesitation that we will not be back. The room was old and tired (and in many cases, in need of repair), the service was slow and poor (except Marisol at the sports bar was excellent), we upgraded to the ‘platinum' level upon arrival and then was told we had the ‘wrong kind of platinum' to do anything with. But the absolute worst part of the whole trip was the food. It is absolutely putrid. Terrible wifi! [Details]

It is a big resort connecting a few resorts under the Princess brand. There is plenty of pools and restaurants, great evening shows, nice beach, pool water games and entertainment for every age, lots of places to get a snack, bars, internal shuttle service, tennis courts, great gym, spa, convenience and souvenirs stores, always fresh food and great selection. It is VERY clean everywhere! It could be great to add more shelves in the shower. In addition, it would be great to provide some map/entertainment list/info book when people arrive. Please sync the app entertainment list/restaurants menu with reality, not always they match. We really enjoyed our vacation and did not want to leave. A few great workers to mention are gym trainer Ricardo, shuttle driver Martin, pool entertainer Eric and Eduardo, many others. [Details]
