We loved our stay ! The food was quite good. Especially the Mexican and steak houses . The staff were friendly, and attentive.

It is geared to younger guests. Yet there were a lot of retired people there Wanting to rest and relax but they blasted techno music full blast. The owners need to Read the room. See who their clients are.The lounge beds were all reserved by guest by 8 am. Why should we have to get up early just to be able to get a chair. Food was repetitious.. never hot. We were first to go in for buffet lunch opening and food was already cold. Half the time restaurants closed need signage With hours. Need to label the food as we didnt know what we were eating half the time. Whether fish or chicken. Tables half wiped. Pizza bar no gloves bare hands handing out cold pizza and wiping his nose. More concerned about helping the co workers set up cooking class.The drink service was great. No shows at all. Entertainment was bingo or cooking classes There was conventions going on and day guests allowed. So pool full on weekends. Rooms clean beds good. A bit dated. Highlight was over 100 bats flying over balcony from roof top resting above us. Listened to hotel next door fans for cooking. The owner needs to go incognito live there for 2 weeks. Will not go back.

We were very disappointed with our stay at Melia Puerto Vallarta. We were often made to feel like second class citizens because we apparently had the wrong colour wristband. When we checked in, we were never offered the choice to upgrade to “premium” so it was only later we found out that we weren't eligible for “premium” drinks. We tried to get a negroni, but there was no Campari, so we asked for one with Aperol, but that was considered “top shelf.” Especially at the lobby bar, Julian was very cool with us, never rude, but he always made sure we got the bottom shelf stuff and if someone else was serving us, he'd whisper to them while looking at us and we could see our bartender change their attitude towards us. At the pool bars, this didn't happen so much and we actually got the occasional good drink. Overall though, the alcohol is watered down, the pours are stingy and the bars are not well stocked. The buffet restaurant was not very good at all. There would be empty trays and empty spaces where there should have been trays, and most of the food was filler and bland, you had to hunt down the hot sauce to get any flavour. Mole and Taco was better. This Fish House had a lot of fried food and when we asked to sit nearer the water, we were outright refused and had to sit at the back even though there were plenty of tables at the front. In addition, little of the seafood wasn't included in the supposed “all-inclusive” but you had to pay extra for it. We spent a lot of time in line-ups: to get reservations, to get into the buffet, at the omlette station, at the bars. Service was slow, maybe they are short-staffed. Bar service on the beach was practically non-existent. The beach itself is narrow so choose your lounger wisely otherwise there will be a beach volleyball game in your lap. It's also not very clean and the loungers have bird poo all over them. There were a lot of children at this resort. None we encountered were especially misbehaved but they're kids so they're having a good time running around and screaming. There were also a lot of Mexicans there either vacationing as families or in groups. I only bring that up because they have a different sense of personal space and they bring their speakers to the beach. One day there was an epic ghetto blaster battle between a group of six young women and a family. Though another day there was a group of North Americans serenading everyone with their country music. We had an ocean view room that was spacious and clean enough and the balcony was a real plus. However, the glass panels on the balcony were filthy and there was only one power outlet available for charging all our devices, so that took some planning. The bathroom sink drained slowly and partway through our stay the toilet wouldn't stop running. They did come and fix it right away, but in talking with others at the resort, many had issues: toilets running, bathtubs not draining, leaks from the ceiling, plaster flaking off the walls, cracks showing in a lot of places. It's run down and needs a major reno. We made the best of it, but we won't be going back and would recommend you choose a different property.

Average experience.

A reasonably-priced all-inclusive vacation gives you a tired hotel with mediocre food selection and somewhat better restaurant venues. The location is on the beach with wonderful sunsets as a backdrop. However, despite the good intentions of the staff, the high volume of guests makes a stay here less relaxing than the location alone can provide.

Hotel was clean, staff was friendly and food was good. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

I very much highly suggest that you look elsewhere. Especially if you're an adult with no kids or a couple looking for a nice romantic trip together, as this is just not it: Food Quality (incredibly uneatable) Drinks Quality (Bottom shelf and watered down) Space around the pool (Enough space to accommodate 10% of the hotel guests) Towels availability (hard to find towels) Staff knowledge or willingness to help (Whatever you ask for, within your package, the 1st answer is always NO, then you need to start haggling from there to get to a YES) We thought $4.5K would get us a nice week vacation package, but outside of Christmas week, this shouldn't have been priced at more than $700. The hotel facilities are at 1-2 stars level. I can write a book about the food itself. The "activities" are really geared towards kids under the age of 5 at most

The rooms were very nice and the walk-in shower spacious. The food in the resort was, in comparison to many other resorts, meager. 8 main dishes, two soups a 12 tray salad bar and small, repetative desert selection) liqour was lower end and no activities to speak of, coupled with extensive construction.no specialty restaurants (contrary to ads) and sometimes spotty service. When you did get served, they were very nice. Mexican night was very nice but understaffed.Kids club and gym were being blocked off for construction.two bars on the beach and long lines. Coffee bar in lobby was only open from mid afternoon to early evening. 2nd restaurant (at beach) was minimal and food substandard. Cold burgers, small salad bar and a few entrees that were ok. In my opinion, not the best value for the money.
