Nice Vacation
This was our first vacation post COVID and Sandals RP did not disappoint. This is an intimate all Butler property where the staff go above and beyond. A big thanks to our Butler Tamara who exceeded our expectations. Overall, the food was very good with many options. You have full exchange privileges at Sandals Ochi, which provides over 20 dining options. Albeit, the staff at Sandals Ochi were not as friendly. Probably because it is a massive property and they don't get to know the guests as well. The demographic at this property are professionals over the age of 40. It is not a party resort. If you are looking for excitement, this resort is not for you. If you are looking for rest and relaxation while being constantly pampered to, look no further. The resort is situated on a cliff, which means you walk down to the beach and some of the food areas. There are no elevators in the east or main buildings. Something to consider if you have mobility requirements. The Beach is amazing, however there are not enough umbrellas on the east beach. If you are looking for shade, you need to claim your spot early. The west beach have ample umbrellas. A big thanks to the Beach Butlers who made sure we always had a drink and snacks. The room was clean and serviced daily by housekeeping. Like all Sandals, the property grounds were immaculate. It is about a 2 hour transfer from the airport. For safety reasons, the driver will only stop at sanctioned rest stops. It is best to take advantage of the rest rooms before leaving the airport. The drivers are not Sandals employees, so you can tip them if appropriate.

Disappointing
Sunday arrived approximately 130 room not ready no problem went to eat and enjoy beach. Tapas food was good but we didn't order enough. Waved waitress over got menu back after about 15 mins. Then tall thin girl came over we said what we wanted she said is this a reorder we laughed thinking she was joking and said yes sorry we are hungry. After 45 mins no food I went to another waitress shorter and older than first waitress a d said can we get our food? She said you didn't get it? No. Within 5 mins we had our food. I said what happened. She said I can't tell you. Monday ocean bar approximately 1. First waiter said afternoon buddy how are you. He said what did you call me I said hey buddy. He said don't call me that. what does that mean at home I said hey friend pal etc. Like a good greeti g for friends he then said don't ever say that again it's bad here. I was like I'm sorry how about hey man? He was like that's worse. I was like what am I supposed to say and he walked away. Few hours later thin bartender. Very good at his job entertaining good drinks etc. It started to rain so we all came inside made us drinks. Large group of ppl. He said in front of everyone is it customary to tip where you are from. We all said yes but then we all said we were told not necessary here? We all tipped because we felt guilted into it. Don't advertise no tipping advertise tipping optional if that is the way staff are going to treat ppl. Older gentleman gave me shit for coming in to ocean bar without drying off. No signs no nothing indicated this was mandatory it's a beach bar. Tues called for water to be delivered to room. Never came. Rooms are dated. Construction was ongoing all night long some sort of jack hammering. Internet is weak at best. Price of sandals should not have to pay for upgrading internet. Waterfront walkway was supposed to be open in August. Asked if anything special. It was anniversary. Did nothing. Don't expect anything but don't ask if you don't care. Some staff have been amazing don't get me wrong. I have travelled to Jamaica at 6 times and the rest of the Caribbean at least 2 times a year for 30 years. so I'm not a rookie traveler. This place is a 3 star at best. I will never be back

RED FLAGS!
RED FLAG WARNING at the end of my review!! Upon arrival, we were very disappointed in our room. The tile floors were deeply stained (looked dirty) and our view was overlooking a very old, paint chipped roof with all sorts of pipes. We did not have a balcony - just a patio door with a railing. We requested a new room but did not get moved for two days. Our second room was much better - far less dated and worn than the initial one. The staff were very friendly but service was extremely slow!! We visited the water park and two of the lifeguards at the top were sleeping - kids were running wild down the slides whenever they wanted. I got kicked in the back of the head by two older boys who flew down right behind me. I travelled to Jamaica with my three children - ages 17, 20 and 25. This resort was not a good choice as there were minimal activities available for them and the Resort was typically asleep by 10 or 11. Scheduled pool activities were minimal and often did not even take place. Our final 24 hours at the resort was HORRIFIC! A local man made his way onto the resort. I saw him numerous times throughout the day. He told me he was from St. Mary and when I asked him if he was staying there, he said no. This man got extremely drunk over the course of the day and by mid afternoon, he was stumbling around the pool, had stacks of plates of food, he was trying to peek into guest bags and he took over the lounge chair that was part of the private cabana package. He then proceeded to dance inappropriately by the pool and THEN HE TOUCHED HIMSELF (yes, hands down his pants touching himself). My daughters and I felt soooo violated as this took place right in front of us!! At this point, I alerted numerous staff of his behaviour. This man also started asking young females to pick up his drink for him and he harassed me verbally at one point. Again, staff did nothing to remove this man. In fact, he wandered into Neptune's (a la carte restaurant) at around 8:30 pm, barefoot and still in the same bathing suit, got 2 glasses of wine and then walked to a room that appeared to be blacked out (vacant) to drink his beverages. The very frustrating part of this event is that staff did nothing about this man! They actually aided his effort by slipping him a room key (we watched) and providing him food and drink. There were many more details about this incident, but I think I have gotten my point across! Departure day - my AirPods went missing and I alerted the staff from the airport but they could not find them. I insisted they check the video footage and miraculously after an “investigation” which took 48 hours, I was informed that my AirPods were found on the patio (which is odd considering that not once did I have them on the patio for the duration of our trip). I now have to ship them back from Jamaica at my expense. Finally, our ride to the airport, arranged by Beaches was extremely scary and sketchy. Our driver - Kevin - did not speak to us once on the drive. He went into Ocho Rios and stopped at two different gas stations (made calls at each) before turning back towards the resort to get in the toll route. Once on the toll route, we flew to the airport, reaching our destination in about 40 mins. When we arrived, he dumped our bags on the sidewalk and drove off quickly without even closing the passenger door (it slid shut with the speed in which he took off). I have reported all of the above to Beaches but I have yet to receive a response to their “investigation”. Show less Date of stay: March 2024

Don't go there!!
Awful!! Outdated!! Cold management!! I reserved for a week on Friday snd arrived on Sunday, they didn't have my reservation in their system because their office closes on the weekends. So I get to the front desk with my suitcases and my printouts of my booking and the lady at the desk tells me she can't find my reservation I'm not in the system. She left me hanging there for a few seconds until I asked ´ok, but I'm here now so what are my options? What do ee do now???? She asked me to pay for the night untill they sort it out the next day. Ok so I paid for that first night even dough I had all of my proofs of booking. I had booked an ocean view room and they put me in a parking lot view room. I argued with them that this is not the room described on my booking that was supposed to have the nice ocean view, hairdryer and flat screentv with cable!?! They said that this is what I had booked and that I could still see a tiny bit of the ocean pass the gazebo of the parking lot. After complaining for 2 days they finally changed our room. But I had to get my travel agency representative talk to them because they didn't hear me. The hotel is outdated, need renos ASAP. Plumbing is rough no pressure when you flush the toilet and the water temperature changes when you shower constantly from warm to burning hot or warm to cold. It's stressful!!Be ready for an experience! I will never go there again!!! My husband is Jamaican and this is by far the worst place we've stayed in Jamaica. 100$ us per night? Ridiculous!! You could have better for less money. The owners of this place don't care about their guests it is obvious. I'm providing you with some pictures of my ´ocean view room' and of the furniture getting eaten vu termites. Ah yeah I forgot to mention, they have termites in their furniture.
