Not worth the money
We went last minute as our travel agent said it was a good resort as it was just renovated and had extra services like 24 hour room service and guest services for assistance in booking la carte, etc. The service was horrible and they don't speak English for majority of the resort, so that poses a problem if you don't speak Spanish. We travel to Mexico all the time and this is never a problem in the resorts. You have a stocked mini fridge, at least when you get there, and if you ask for it to be stocked after to the guest services, they say it was stocked and you can't have anymore, so you have to convivence them it wasn't so they come to your room and take a picture to confirm it wasn't so you can have some water or pop. We booked some of our a la carte restaurants before we left from the app, but wanted to wait to see what the resort was like before booking more, book all then before you go, or you are out of luck. Trust me, book the a la carte as the buffet is HORRIBLE. It is a small buffet for all meals, and the food is the same for lunch and dinner the entire time. The a la carte are a hit or miss as well and the same service is at those as well. It's like they don't want to work, they stand around and no one says hello or is welcoming. If you order a drink most times they forget to bring it. We ate at the sports bar 2x's for lunch to get away from the buffet and the waitress Aurey, forgot our drinks and we ended up going up to the bar to get them, even though she was looking right at us, and we saw this alot from her with everyone and the one day she said there were no French fries as they had no potatoes but others had them, so the other waiter came over and said there were French fries no problem. The on a la carte (Italian at the resort) said we couldn't order a starter and soup, and he didn't understand us again no English, so he got someone else over who spoke some English and she confirmed we could order both and repeated our orders to us and left. We never got our soup. They have a beautiful expresso machine at the sports bar and an instant coffee machine that makes instant espresso, cappuccinos, etc. so you can just come up and get an instant one, but if you order an expresso or cappuccino, they won't make it from that big fancy coffee maker they go to the instant coffee machine instead. So don't expect much from the service when you order a coffee either.
There is NOTHING to do at the resort in the evenings, as we went to some of the a la carte at the other resorts and it's always so busy, with live shows, they even had a fire show, and when we would come back to ours there is nothing, everyone is back in their rooms. There isn't a real lobby or grand lobby like all the other resorts it's just a kiosk and no real anything. There isn't anything for the kids to do, there is a small water park for the little ones, but no kids center that would have air hockey, pool tables, etc. just a kiddie center where it's a daycare. There is one air hockey table in the sports bar. It's a pretty basic resort even though it says LUXCURY in the title and it's suppose to be higher end. It's not. The rooms are nice as they were renovated but that's about it.
Note: the trollies never pick you up when you are standing at the stops in the pouring rain as it rained all the time when we went, it happens, but people were yelling for them to stop and they wouldn't. And you have to take two to get from the Punta Cana resort to ours and that is where the Japanese and Asian a la carte's are and the shopping. Even at our front entrance/kiosk they don't come enough so get there early if you have a a la carte reservation as you will wait a while.
If you want quiet, crappy service and bad food, this is the perfect resort for you.
Pros: Albi the bartender at the pool is the best and Luisana Martinez one of the Managers is great too. It's also right near the beach so you have easy access to the pool and the beach without having to walk far.
