Back home after our 5th visit to Rainbow and each visit is better than the last. The Cuban people face many challenges and hardships in their lives and tourism is one of the best ways to get money and goods into the country to help them. Despite the current challenges in Cuba we didn't experience any major shortages or power issues, please know you can visit with confidence of having a safe and enjoyable stay. Like many others, Rainbow has become our haven, safe space, oasis, and home away from home. The guests are amazing! Considerate, friendly, polite and fun, it's a huge difference from any other resort we've been to. Many of the staff have become friends and some, like family. It's impossible to go anywhere without being greeted with a smile and wave. The new manager, Mario, is doing a great job and is always visible, friendly and available to help. We had positive interactions with everyone but there are some people that deserve some extra recognition and I'd like to thank them for having us as their guests. Noidys: if you know, you know. One of the sweetest, kindest and considerate people I've ever met, Noidys wants nothing more than for others to be happy. She is the best and should be cherished like the rarest resource she is. We love you very much Noidys! (not great at dominos though) Osmary, Osmel, Twin, Danys, Roseangela, Magdiel, Yudith, Brandys, Alejandra, Yamile, Pedro: these people have become like family to us over our visits and always go out of their way to chat and make sure we're taken care of. Amazing group and a big reason we keep coming back. I'd also like to recognize the following staff who made our stay so amazing: Ary, Yunay, Jordyn, Yaillette, Jorge, Angel DJ, Roxanna, Arlettis, Dalmaris, Leo C, Leo at beach bar, Ronald, Yoandry, Martha, Duagned, Annie, Ernesto, Lizmel (cook), Yendy, Mabel O, Dianely Avila, Adriel Silveira, Yisel M, Carlito López, Mayito, Yeisy, Yorjanni (Pepe), Yoah, Yoelle, newer pool tech, and many, many, more! Thank you so much for having us, your hospitality and warmth is truly appreciated. See you again soon!

BEST HOTEL IN AREA
Fantastic vacation in Cuba at Playa Paraíso it was about our 20th time just at this resort! I had the pleasure of staying at the Playa Paraíso with my family and friends, and I couldn't have asked for a better time we are treated like family. The staff were all great! Everyone of the workers in all areas gave 100 percent. These people are hard-working, accommodating, and super friendly, it takes them hours to get to work and put a smile on there face to make you happy! A special affirmation to Ernesto,George and of course Annelys whose job it was to liven things up days and nights at the pool and the bars areas, and they did so . Housekeeping staff went above and beyond by taking the time to decorate our rooms with flowers as well as shaping the blankets and towels into lovely swan and heart shapes and even writing thank you notes for us. Dining room staff at the buffet and la a cartes were conscientious, asking what we'd like to drink, and always courteous, constantly refilling our water glasses and clearing dishes away. All the chefs at the grilling table whose dishes were always made-to-order, whether they were omelettes in the morning or steak strips or pork medallions for lunch and dinner. They have alot of bacon to make you happy Bartenders at all the bars were really friendly and knowledgeable and mixed great drinks! Even the gardeners were hospitable, greeting us every time we walked to our bungalow. Some of them would create flowers or grasshoppers by intricately weaving palm leaves, even bracelets for all the woman with us! When I was given these, it always made my day! For the price, this holiday was more than I expected. Anyone who has things to complain about is being obtuse. We all work hard for our money and have to save in order to splurge on a vacation, but compare this price to all the other packages. If you're expecting full-on luxury, then you need to pay for that. Also, complaining about the workers approaching you to exchange canadian coins for american bills is asinine. A quick Google search will teach you that the locals can do absolutely nothing with the loonies and toonies you give them as tips. You have to make sure your bills are not ripped because there banks will not take. So, the money you worked hard for and have taken with you on vacation for tips is wasted. These people can only use their cuban money or american bills to buy things. Just ask any of them. They'll be more than willing to share some facts with you. The next time you want to book a vacation and choose Cuba because the price is right, take american bills for tipping or 5 dollar bills. You'll get the service I just wrote about. And if you've booked for beautiful Cayo Coco again, pack bug spray like we did. It sure made things more enjoyable. Again, you'll learn from a quick Google search that the island of Cayo Coco is 80% swamp land, so mosquitoes will always be abundant spray in morning and night, Men wear pants at night you will be happy. I have been everywhere in Cuba and Cayo Coco is the best. If you are Single use this hotel there is no price difference.

Unforgettable!
Had a blast with family and friends. The resort itself: clean, rooms are clean too. Not in a pristine condition but nothing to be ashamed of. A/C in the room was good but at it's very limit. 5 minutes away from the famous Playa Pilar in a classic taxi drive is a huge pro. The view; breathtaking! The location is so unique you get amazing views from so many places on site. The beach itself often gets algae on the vert first part but the resort staff are always working hard to get ride of them, still, amazing beach with white sand and beautiful water. The food: we came with little to no expectations. Never missed a thing, the buffet has plenty to offer. Yes it kinda gets redundant but it's Cuba so you already know that you don't travel there for a culinary experience. A good pro: every.single.music.artist that come and entertain us at the buffet are AMAZING. Very talented! The best part: it's people. Let me explain. The staff made us feel comfortable and like if we were family. The people working there were all so warm and welcoming and they are the very reason that our vacations are so unforgettable. Here are some of the people that you WANT to meet if you ever have the chance to visit the Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Wendy, David and Alejandro: I'm pretty sure that they were my brothers or something like that in another life. Wanna have a good time? Hit them up! Great great great animators and dancers they made a huge difference. Their only cons is that I feel like I'll never move like them ever. Mia: She's taking care of the animation for the kids like no one else. Such a sweet and smart person she even got our VERY shy daughter to dance. Yobani and Jasniel: Yep! Even the staff working at the maintenance by the pool made a difference in our vacation. We had such great conversations, always willing to learn about our culture and teach about theirs. They were always nice to us, making sure that everything was fine for us and the people around. Real hard working gentlemen. Andrés: the dj! He might look kinda shy at first glance but he's a smart young man who's always ready get the party started. He has great songs and will always be ready for a request. These are some of the names but really, waitresses, bartenders, receptionist etc. They were all so nice! To conclude, I recommend this resort. Their prices are really good and you will have a very good time. And yes they had problems with the main water pipes on our last day but it could happen in any resort of any country so it did not bother us.

You should chose another hotel
We stayed at the Memories Flamenco from December 24 to January 31. Our expectations were low given the reviews, and we thought we could only be pleasantly surprised. What a disappointment. This is the first time I've written a review about a vacation, but I feel so cheated that I had to share my experience. Diamond Club/Premium: My first comment specifically concerns the Diamond Club/Premium, which is a complete scam. I am genuinely shocked to have paid $100 per day for literally nothing. Here's why: We had access to a private buffet, which in reality had the same food as the main buffet but with 10 times fewer options. We were supposed to get early check-in but only received our room at 3:00 PM instead of 4:00 PM, despite arriving in the morning. We never got a welcome cocktail. The exclusive beach is tiny and eroded, so we didn't use it. The exclusive bar didn't offer any drinks different from the other bars (if anything, there were fewer options). Since there was no wait anywhere, there was no benefit to using it. We didn't receive premium drinks. We never got to dine at the à la carte restaurant because it was closed. The minibar was never restocked and remained empty. We didn't receive "premium in-room amenities," as there was no difference between our room and those of our friends who weren't premium, except that our toilet worked properly. We weren't entitled to more specialized restaurants than other guests. In the end, we paid $700 per person for this: access to the room one hour earlier than others, a fiew private tables at the buffet (which was never full anyway), and one special meal at the premium restaurant. The concierge desk for premium guests isn't worth it because there's hardly ever a wait at reception. To top it off, any hotel guest (premium or not) could sit in our beach area, order drinks from our bar, and eat at our private restaurant because there was NO monitoring. Please, save your money! Room: The rooms are outdated in appearance. That's not a big deal for us, as we only cared about cleanliness. Unfortunately, the room was not clean: The walls were particularly dirty. The floor was mopped with dirty rags, leaving hair everywhere. The pillows, towels, and sheets were completely stained. There's definitely mold in the walls. Some people traveling with us felt sick as soon as they entered their rooms, and so did we. Water in the shower was sometimes burning (like hell), sometimes very cold (no hot water), sometimes there were no water at all. On the bright side, the rooms are spacious, and the beds were reasonably comfortable. Food: It's Cuba. Food quality depends on your taste. I consider myself someone who isn't picky at all and eats just about anything. The food ranged from okay to bad. The only places we ate well were the specialized restaurants. If you expect excellent food, I suggest going somewhere other than Cuba. Otherwise, it might suffice. Drinks: The drinks were okay. Some bars are better than others, so it's worth trying them out. The drinks aren't stingy on alcohol, which is good. However, there were no glasses available during the last two days, so we couldn't get any drinks. The menu is not very diverse (mostly rum-based drinks). Internet: well, it never worked on my iphone, except in the lobby. Service: Service was 50/50: 50% of the staff were friendly, and the other 50% seemed bothered by our presence. Most staff were on their phones and would finish their calls before assisting you. That said, I understand it's probably not a pleasant work environment, and they work long hours. Beach: The beach is very beautiful! Bring with you: Canadian and US dollars (as you can pay for a fiew things in CAD) Toilet paper Bottles for the drinks In Conclusion: Honestly, if you choose to go to Cuba, try to budget for a better experience. I don't think this hotel is worth more than $600 CAD in a vacation package with a flight included. Giving it 4 stars is extremely exaggerated—maybe 2.5 at best.

Not a great place to stay and waste of money
I recently stayed at StarFish hotel, and it was hands down the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Here's why: 1. Bed Bugs The room was infested with bed bugs. I woke up covered in bites and had to spend the rest of my trip itching and scratching. Clearly, this hotel doesn't prioritize cleanliness or pest control. 2. Horrible Sanitation The room itself was filthy. The bathroom reeked of mildew, the towels were stained, and the floors looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Even the sheets were suspect, with visible stains that made me question whether they were even changed before my arrival. 3. Cockroaches in the Buffet The buffet was a complete health hazard. I spotted cockroaches crawling near the food trays. It's absolutely unacceptable for a place serving food to guests. I didn't dare eat there again for fear of getting food poisoning. 4. Spoiled, Unhelpful Staff The staff was shockingly unprofessional and entitled. They outright refused to assist with basic requests unless tips were offered upfront. This is not hospitality—it's extortion. Their rude attitude and lack of service made the stay even worse. 5. Poor Maintenance Everywhere The entire property was in disrepair. Broken fixtures, peeling paint, and a musty odor throughout the hotel made it clear that upkeep is not a priority. Overall, this was a complete waste of money. I can't stress enough how terrible this hotel is. Stay far, far away if you value your health, safety, and sanity.

Will not come back
Visited end of August. 90 percent of people staying are Cubans, all entertainment and communication in Spanish, most of personnel do not understand or speak English, virtually no English anywhere. Beach and its proximity is outstanding features. No beach towels provided. Food is OK, slow service. One the first day one of the servers was clearly drunk but still allowed to work. Nautical center could take you for snorkeling to the reef nearby but a bit expensive and they work whenever they want, could be closed for days, even on days of favorable weather. Got standard rooms on second floor, constant musty smell in the rooms, water temperature could be OK but could be outright cold, no problems with AC. No mosquito screens anywhere so if you leave veranda door open they (mosquitos) will invade room in big quantities. Music at the pool horrible, all upbeat Cuban (I presume) and Spanish, English tune one in the two hundred. Booked la carta restaurant 2 days in the row, supposed to be alternative International and Cuban cuisine but it was same International on both days for us. When asked why, explanation was it is a mistake of the chef. Neighbouring resort got some kind of lake on SE of the resort and oh gosh it was stinking of rotten and sewer when wind blows wrong direction! Quite limited assortment of drinks (alcohol and soft). Ping pong is outside, pool table is closed most of the day, open just in the evening – very inconvenient. Sound level in disco just insane and unhealthy – my kids had club earplugs and still were complaining of unbearable high sound levels, personally me I got a feeling my eardrums going to pop so I did not stay there. Got $200US stolen from my room by room service. Witnessed preferential treatment of cubans over tourists from other countries. And finally the biggest killer are mosquitos!!!! They are everywhere and in big quantities! You can not go anywhere without getting bitten hundred times. They spray something to kill mosquitos but when it is no wind or rains a lot its game over, you getting eaten alive! Definitely not coming back.
