Cayo Coco - Cayo Guillermo
This Hotel although aged is kept spotlessly clean. Rooms are large and basic but are kept spotlessly clean. No frills here. There is a safe in the cupboard to use and a small tv. Seniors who are reasonably fit and able do the stairs cus there is a fair amount of them, should consider a stay on first or second floor. Families seemed to choose rooms that faced the pool which made it easier for them. Quieter rooms are say building 8 or 9 still closer to amenities. Overall at night very quiet. Beach was beautiful and with a fair amount of chairs and huts for shade. Food and wine was reasonable. Great coffee in the lobby area. [Details]

The strong points
Clean and pest free I'm happy to say. I stayed on second floor. The staff are extremly helpful and always with a smile on their face.
The weak points
Key cards are annoying, mine took numerous tries to connect and open the door and I had change them three times. In the end I kept them separate from my purse which was a nuisance and really didn't help that much. Main pool needs cleaning more often
Sanitary measures
Clean bottom pool itself more often

Hello, Thank you very much for your comment on the site, for us it is a pleasure to have you visit us on your holidays and enjoy our services. Regarding your comments about the lack of water in your room, I would like to comment that it was a product of a saving strategy, taking into account a breakdown caused in the water supply source of the main one in Cayo Coco.
On the other hand, our team offers you a warm welcome to this great family that is Tryp Cayo Coco, and we look forward to your next visit. Sincerely ...

This was my third visit to Tryp. It is a nice smaller type resort. Easy to walk around to services, beach and pools.
The resort was hit by a recent hurricane which tore up the roof on the reception and lobby building. This has been repaired and new sail-type awnings were being put up in February 2024. Doors and windows were added to separate the lobby from the outside deck which makes the lobby more comfortable.
Beach-front grill restaurant was damaged in a hurricane and removed: reconstruction has begun but only the frame was in place when we were there. Doesn't look like any work is going on right now. The old restaurant provided bathrooms near the beach, so these are missing now.
Resort was under 40% occupied and only 2 à la carte restaurants were open (Cuban and International). Cuban was disappointing. International was ok, with great service.
Entertainment was mostly as expected: stage dance performances. One good highlight was the Circus Performers. Some good lobby entertainment- saxophone player and female singer.
Staff was efficient, friendly, and responsive.
Food choices were somewhat limited, but there was always something we could eat. Pizza, choice of grilled meats, pasta cooked with choice of toppings. Lasagna not very good. Bread was often dry. Toaster was available only part of the week. Water bottles provided in room every day.
Breakfast was great way to start the day. Eggs cooked to order. Pancakes with sauces. Fruit juices or smoothies. Orange juice was not freshly squeezed - like a watered down Tang.
Red wine was good. By end of week, ran out of white wine and draft beer: they started serving Moosehead Beer in cans and another brand in bottles.
Wifi worked around resort, but didn't work in our room. [Details]

The strong points
Very friendly staff.
Small resort with services well located.
Beautiful beach.
Coral reef easily reachable at low tide; able to see tropical fish while walking towards reef or snorkeling.
Good ice cream.
Full massage on beach well worth $40 US.
The weak points
No bathroom facilities near beach or pools.
Desserts were disappointing; mostly small cake pieces and fruit.
Rooms showing age - cracked tiles, rounded and slippery tubs.
Lots of flies in dining room.
Thin, rough toilet paper.
Sanitary measures
Signage in bathrooms showing cleaning requirements.
Was surprised not to see hand sanitizers in restaurants.
Dear Acadienne1: Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback about your recent stay at Tryp. It's great to hear that the repairs to the reception and lobby building have been completed, adding new sail-type awnings to enhance the comfort of the lobby area. The addition of doors and windows to separate the lobby from the outside deck is a thoughtful improvement. The ongoing reconstruction of the beach-front grill restaurant following hurricane damage may have affected your experience, especially with the absence of bathroom facilities near the beach. It's understandable that having limited dining options with only two à la carte restaurants open during your stay could be disappointing, but it's reassuring that the International restaurant provided good service.
I'm glad to hear that the entertainment generally met expectations, with highlights such as the Circus Performers and enjoyable lobby performances. The efficiency, friendliness, and responsiveness of the staff enhanced your experience, which is wonderful to hear. Your feedback on the food choices is valuable, noting both the limitations and the positives. It's helpful to know that there were options available, such as pizza, grilled meats, and pasta cooked to order. However, it's unfortunate that some items like lasagna and dry bread did not meet expectations. The breakfast options you described sound delightful, and your feedback on the quality of orange juice and availability of beverages is duly noted.
It's good to know that the resort's wifi connectivity worked around the property, though it was lacking in your room. Your feedback will certainly provide insights for the resort to improve guest experiences in the future. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts and experiences; your feedback is valuable for both the resort and future guests. We hope that if you choose to visit Tryp again in the future, your experience will be even more enjoyable.

been to Cuba 4 times and found this hotel put more effort into serving its guest then the other hotels I have stayed in Cuba. The beach and bar area were one of my favorite places to relax and enjoy (served ham/cheese sandwiches and served beer rum pina colada`s etc. The hotel seems to be gaining a lot more Cats, but they did not bother me as I found them entertaining to watch run around the resort chasing off all the insects. It is an older resort I did find so I cannot say too much downside as to the upkeep as most Cuban resorts are having to be fixed and patched up constantly. The Staff/Management did put in an effort to welcoming their visitors to the resort. I found that the size of the hotel was designed to hold 5 times more the people then it had staying there. I found that it was very pleasant and not overcrowded. [Details]

lots of areas to lay out around the pools.

smelt mold when first entering the room by the air conditioning unit but was fixed over with a paint job to temporary fix the problem

We stayed at hotel Tryp Cayo Coco from the 15th to the 22nd of November, 2022 through a Sunwing trip. We loved it!
The service was perfect in the main buffet and beach cafeteria. The lobby bar was very nice and the service, very fast. Beautiful live music every night in the sitting areas and lobby. The pools were all very clean and we enjoyed the quiet pool a lot. The hotel seems to have had a great renovation with most of the rooms having an ocean view. The weather was in the 30s the entire trip, keeping the ocean water warm every day. The beach was clean with weeds and vegetation being cleared each morning. You can go get yourself a catamaran at any time.
One note - please bring dry cat food with you if you can. There are about 20 cats and kittens all over the resort looking for food. This wasn't my first trip to Cuba and I know most resorts have this issue so I brought a bag of Whiskas for the animals. They really liked it so I highly recommend it!
All in all, the trip was amazing and we would definitely return to this lovely resort again. Thank you Tryp Cayo Coco!

Wonder time (as usual) at Tryp. The staff are all so very wonderful, accommodating and friendly. They treats guests like family. The grounds are very well kept by the hard working gardeners. The pool at this resort is always very clean. Food was sparse this time, but very tastey. Always something to eat. Ala carts are totally worth it. Swim up bar is always fun. Beach is cleaned regularly. [Details]

What a disappointment and a loss of money. I chose this resort because COVID testing was on site. This place was very dirty, poorly maintained with mostly unfriendly staff. The locals pretty much took over the resort and staff would bend over backwards to serve them first. The one pool that was there was drained on the second day of arrival and never refilled. Took the cleaner two days to scrape the dirt out. Lots of theft the week I was there. I felt very uneasy at this resort and was never so happy when my plane left to go home. I always loved going to Cuba but things have changed. Grateful to be home safe and sound. [Details]

Thank you for your comment, our sincere apologies for the incidents you experienced during your holiday. We have taken note of your comments and discussed them with the relevant management staff. It is true that during your stay we had problems with one of the 4 pools that the hotel has, but it needed a thorough cleaning due to serious incidents from other guests. We have taken measures to ensure that incidents of this type do not happen again and we are currently keeping all 4 pools open.

Another great visit to Tryp. It was nice to see so many staff members were still working. The new staff were very friendly just the same as the old gang !! Stayed in room 1010 facing the "quiet pool". Nice to be on the ground floor with a patio to enjoy the sun or shade and be able to walk right out my door and jump in ! Still that "great green decor in the rooms" The grounds are returning to pre-Irma look with grass growing, lots of bushes and trees looking fuller. Maintenance is getting everything all prettied up for the Celebration in a few weeks. The Food - there is always something to find. It is still buffet but you are served your food. Please Please be patient as they are trying to understand your language behind the mask, through all the noise and your finger pointing of your selection. Dont bud in front of others. If you are polite and patient, the staff will treat you better than family and do all they can for you. A great need for any type of over the counter drugs, Tylenol Apirin Muscle relief cream etc. Wear your mask properly and protect everyone

My stay at this was over all good. The service I received was top notch. All the workers where friendly and helpful. My room was kept clean daily and there was fresh towels every day. In the evenings they put on good shows that entertained all the guests from the kids to the adults. Because of Covid something's where limited but they did their best to accommodate all needs of their guests. The beach is one of the best I seen in the Caribbean. I give this resort a thumbs up. Hello I've been at this hotel many times and last time was 6 years ago. This hotel is so special to me, the staff is incredible and hotel and restaurants was amazing . Unfortunately after the hurricane 2 years ago, many things changed such as some restaurants were closed and 2 of them got distroyed. The hotel itself is not as it was but the staff always friendly and wonderful and they do there best to make you comfortable. For sure I will continue to go at the Tryp Cayo coco [Details]

Had another great week here. Staff as usual where the greatest. Building 7 was just opening up again when I was leaving. Work is being done quickly to the Beach Bar and Grill. Can't wait to see the finished product in April. My opinion of the Bed and 2 Chairs on the beach for 10CUC a day is that it is a waste of space and chairs that we all could use. I had to ask the staff to find me a chair as there seem to be a shortage and it is not high season yet. Totally like the earlier buffet opening, 6:30 instead of 7:00 We must remember to tip the Guest Services Staff, they are always in the background working hard, but rarely tipped. [Details]

Enjoyed my Solo 2 week stay at this resort A
casey dorsman, Burlington, ON
2019-11-08
October 17-31, 2019. First time for me to do a 2 week trip. I always travel Solo. The staff are excellent. Many remembered me and I them after about 1 1/2 years. Guest services are top notched and extremely helpful. Only half the resort was open due to supposedly renovations being done to blocks 7 and up.(I prefer Block 7, 8 or 9 which I hope I can get on my return for the 4th time in April) Missed the quiet pool and the Beach Bar and Grill which was also closed I understand due to weather damage. Only one small Hut with limited drinks on the beach. (great lady running it) Only 1 different A la Carte available every night. Buffet got a bit monotonous the 2nd week of my stay and the A/C could have been used especially in the evening. Staff where wonderful again. Weekends got a bit loud with the locals coming in with their big families. Entertainment staff practice all day but was not so impressive my second week there. Seemed to be more for local kids for at least 2 nights. There were some Shortages but not that many (Like where are the Onions for my Omelettes.LOL and the Cristal Beer) Stayed in Block 6 and had the GM as my neighbor part of my time. I do hope the single supplement will be waived starting April 1st and not May 1st as I always travel solo and cannot afford the price increase. Over all I had a great 2 weeks there and will be returning to see my friends in the staff in April. I understand many people do not like having to check bags when going into the buffet, but I personally think it is great and sure helps with food shortages due to bags being filled. One thing I really noticed is the number of noisy cats around. Another positive is the exchange rate 73 cuc for 100 cnd. [Details]

My favorite place on earth :)
Laurel Lighter, Montréal, QC

Once again the Tryp exceeded my every expectation. My husband and I went on a fairly last minute trip knowing that we were heading out during the rainy season, and we didn't care. The staff at this hotel are beyond amazing- it's a pleasure to be here from start to finish! I think people forget that Cuba is Cuba and have unrealistic expectations on occasion. The Tryp is the place for people that know what Cuba is like, and want to have a laid-back week being spoiled by the friendliest staff that Cuba could offer. 100% of the employees will do anything they can to make your stay all it can be! Right off the bat, the reception and lobby area is open, bright, easy to navigate, and staffed by the friendliest people possible. The recent change to making this area non-smoking is greatly appreciated, especially when the check-in or check-out crowds are larger. It's also great when using the wifi. They take care of getting you checked in, and oriented within the resort, quickly and efficiently. The rooms are simple but more than sufficient- beds are comfy, rooms are clean, there's a good safe and a mini fridge, bathrooms are clean and I've never had a problem with water pressure etc. If you're the kind of person that needs a state of the art, massive flat-screen TV etc then honestly, why go to Cuba? Go to Best Buy and re-do your living room instead. If you know anything about Cuba you'll know the food can be commented on. However, I'm a picky eater and I've never once had an issue- fresh meats and seafood are grilled to order at the buffet, the arroz congris is one of my favorite things ever, and the fresh fruit and veggies are to die for! My husband wishes I'd make him breakfast like you get at the buffet :) The a la carte restaurants are also exceptional, with a fun ambiance at each. I highly recommend the lasagna when the Italian is open! The beaches are the most amazing, beautiful things ever, and Tryp is working hard to keep them that way! The dunes are gorgeous as the purple plant is flowering and lush. The ocean is indescribable so I'm barely going to try- the water is blue and clear and shallow enough to walk out and enjoy for ages. The sand is soft, but still offers enough shells for the kids to run around collecting. Due to the absolutely amazing ocean, I didn't even get in the pool once, so no opinion on the pool forthcoming, however the swim-up bar is accessible by a bridge and I can tell you- go at least once during animation for a drink and to play Bingo! To summarize... Go to the Tryp. It's an older, unassuming hotel that plays to it's skills; which are the most amazing location, and the most amazing staff. The people that work here go so very far above and beyond to make sure every aspect of your stay is enjoyable. I wanted to shout-out the staff that made my week special but I don't have enough room, suffice it to say I've gone into budget overdrive so I can go back sooner than usual- I'm "homesick" for the Tryp already. I have been going to this hotel for many years. The renovations looked nice but half of the hotel was still being renovated. The beach was dirty with all seaweed, they used to drag and clean the beach in the morning before but was unpleasant this time. The ala carte was amazing but the buffet for lunch and breakfast served the same food and was unappealling. The staff is still super friendly which was good to see. I went to Pullman for two days and loved it. For the price I paid, I am staying at Pullman the next time. Tryp is outdated and needs to rebuild the ala carte restaurants in different locations rather that having it in the main building and alternating the different options on different days. [Details]

Beach is dirty, need to complete renovations and rooms and hotel is outdated.
Hi dear Whitby,
Thanks a lot for choosing Tryp Cayo Coco to spend your holidays and for posting this feedback about your recent stay in the hotel. As you could see we are working on improving our services. We still drag and clean the beach but this service do not belong to the hotel, it is another company who provide it and as we had problems with fuel they were not working. I will pass your comments about the food to our chef, we have rebuild the a la carte restaurants, we have a cuban, an oriental and an italian restaurant very updated but they were closed due to low occupancy. I am very sorry to know you don' t want to comeback to the hotel and I apologize for the aspects you have mentionned.
With warmest regards,

The worst resort
Andrew Peacock, Scarborough, ON

This was the worst hotel ever. The door locks on room doors didn't work. Pool was always dirty and sandy. There were no cups and plates even though it was all inclusive, people had to share or else you could not get anything. The booze was only local alcohol except for the Havana club. The water made us all sick because it was not from a sealed bottle. The rooms were outdated and falling apart. Do not go no matter how affordable it is you will be very disappointed. [Details]

This place is breathtaking; from the pool to the beach. My fiancé and I enjoyed our 7 days stay here and couldn't have asked for more. The staff is really friendly, accommodating and will fix any issues in less than 30 minutes as they did for our phone and safe. I would recommend getting a bicycle from the rental place (1 hour free like we did everyday) and explore the area and the other resorts nearby and also to try the stir fry at dinner. [Details]
Hello Mavis A,

We had a great time in Cuba. Short 15min bus ride from airport. Nice, older resort. Mature, beautiful grounds, with many palm trees, spotted hummingbirds and lots of other birds. Clean swimming pools and good customer service (any our problems were resolved very quickly). Food for the most part was very good for Cuba, particularly in the buffet where they have Spanish chef. Great untouched turquoise-blue water beach. Lots of beach space and chairs. Lots of young people. Excellent beach activities and sports: beach volleyball, jogging and kite surfing school where you can take lessons with licensed instructors. Fun to kite-surf and watch how kite surfers jump and ride their kites. Will definitely return. [Details]

Inexpensive one week!
[Details]
My experience
The staff was very cordial, cleaning ladies did wonderful job
Few very important internet and WiFi was terrible, there was no water in the room for few hours for couple of days [Details]
Good trip to Tryp Cayo Coco
[Details]
Tryp Cayo coco
Beautiful
BETTER THAN EXPECTED
The hotel seems to be gaining a lot more Cats, but they did not bother me as I found them entertaining to watch run around the resort chasing off all the insects. It is an older resort I did find so I cannot say too much downside as to the upkeep as most Cuban resorts are having to be fixed and patched up constantly. The Staff/Management did put in an effort to welcoming their visitors to the resort. I found that the size of the hotel was designed to hold 5 times more the people then it had staying there.
I found that it was very pleasant and not overcrowded. [Details]
Amazing resort!

Still our favourite Cuba resort
My week at Tryp Cayo Coco hotel
Never Again
November 2021
It was nice to see so many staff members were still working. The new staff were very friendly just the same as the old gang !!
Stayed in room 1010 facing the "quiet pool". Nice to be on the ground floor with a patio to enjoy the sun or shade and be able to walk right out my door and jump in ! Still that "great green decor in the rooms"
The grounds are returning to pre-Irma look with grass growing, lots of bushes and trees looking fuller.
Hope this helps.

Home away from home
Enjoyed my Solo 2 week stay at this resort A
My favorite place on earth :)
My husband wishes I'd make him breakfast like you get at the buffet :)
The a la carte restaurants are also exceptional, with a fun ambiance at each.
[Details]
