Cayo Coco - Cayo Guillermo

This was our 7th time at Melia Cayo Coco , and it definitely was the best . We had a beautiful room , many Thanks to Guest Services , the beach is simply gorgeous , warm sand , blue water , buffet and Ala cartes restaurants were wonderful . Staff here are what makes us want to return , they go above and beyond to make your stay wonderful . Another great plus , is that it's only about a 20 min drive from the Airport . We will definitely be back for our 8th trip , maybe this fall , or for sure in April.

It's my home away from home. Everything is perfect: staff, food, drinks, sea, beach and do clean, the entire site and rooms. A must, really!

The entertainment staff was absolutely amazing, they are who made the experience better. The beach was OK, not as good as it says on the site. The food was absolutely terrible, the rooms were OK, we had constant issues with the room key, reception wasn't helpful. Pools were ok, people were very rude.

I am not a person who writes reviews but I choose to this time. I was travelling with my family and requested a room that was not on the ground floor. I know this is not something that is guaranteed. We got to the hotel late at night and there was only one person at the desk. It took over an hour to check in the less than 10 bookings. I finally made it to my room after 12 am to realize I was on the ground floor. I don't like to complain so I let it be. We had a junior suite, there were three beds, one without cover. I went to the desk to request the cover and was told that I had to wait for the cleaners to bring it the next day. I got a little angry the next day when I realized that the hotel was booked at less than 50 percent capacity, why could I not get a room not on the ground floor? I think I had one of the laziest cleaners except on the 5th day when it was a different person who actually did a proper cleaning - I gave her an extra nice tip : ). Like I said I don't like to complain so i let it be. This is my rant

Upon arriving at this destination, the feeling of almost coming home was the most accurate description. The buildings were clean on the outside and inside. Rooms were comfortable and clean with exceptional house keeping services and never a shortage of fresh bottled water in the rooms along with toilet paper and fresh towels everyday. The resort is small, therefore only a short walk to all it has to offer from even the most far away buildings. The grounds of the resort were very well maintained and the staff was always friendly and greeted you, always a smile. The Entertainment Staff was above and beyond in providing guests with interactive games, dancing and various exercise classes. There was never a time you did not see the Entertainment Staff with beautiful smiles on their faces, they worked very hard to ensure that each activity was planned perfect and interactive with the crowd. The beach activity staff was out everyday showing people how to play beach games and talking with everyone. The Entertainment Crew made all guests feel important and valued. They were fun, creative and willing to help at any time. Best Entertainment Staff I have encountered while on vacation thus far. The pool area was great, separate pool for swim up bar, kiddies pool and water sports pool. Very clean, lots of chairs and shade. The Beach was amazing. There are tons of fish to see around the walk out peer, so take your snorkels! There is seaweed in the water about 50 feet from shore, but still room to get wet, sit in your floatie and enjoy. The beach bar is awesome, friendly beach staff and very clean. Lots of shells to collect and the walk down the beach is incredible on the pure white sand. There is WIFI around the resort, sometimes it disconnected when you left your location, but you could reconnect easily. The food at this resort was the best yet. Always fresh vegetables at every meal, tons of yummy fresh bread and butter. Lots of local seasonal fruit and seasonal vegetables available. Omelets, crepes and French toast every morning, no bacon at this resort. Always fresh soup of the day, fresh fish for frying, pasta was amazing (Barilla) there was a poutine night, Mexican Night, fresh pork, turkey, chicken, beef, lamb and fish. This was a great buffet with tons of food. All common areas were clean, well maintained and comfortable. They had working flushes in common areas that were well stocked, excellent condition with toilet seats, toilet paper, hand soap and very clean. The lobby was a great place to go and relax whether in the morning or after sunset. There was live music each night and a mini disco for the little ones before they went to bed. They always gave a sneak preview of the evening show so guests could get excited about the event. Lobby bar staff very kind, great staff that made an awesome expresso, hot or cold coffee and just about any alcohol drink you could ask for. This is the first place I have travelled to in Cuba that I would consider coming back to. The over all experience was incredible, everyone so kind, helping and entertaining. Definitely will be a repeat visitor!

This has been our 2nd time to this resort in the past 16 months. It is a beautiful resort, with extraordinary landscaping. The beach is the best we have personally been too, with lots of seating for guests, and bars/food service. The pools are great, ala carts are very good and food service is very much improved! There have been many recent upgrades to this resort in the past year. My only complaint was the room, specifically the bathroom. The staff are so dedicated and work so hard to make guests happy. Entertainment is top notch!

Had a wonderful visit to this historic , charming resort. Met many great fellow Canadian tourists who shared they were repeat guests at the 'Colonial'. Met some charming foreign tourists, too.. .The room was spotless, and both room and private balcony had stunning views of the beach and ocean. King size bed was amazingly comfortable. The old style windows opened right into the room. to take advantage of the fresh sea breezes at night while ones being lulled to sleep by the sound of the surf on the beach. Everything was close to our room and the central open air lobby. Coffee at the lobby bar was amazing. The resort is undergoing restoration, so capacity was reduced, however that was part of the charm. This resulted in a quaint, bygone era feel of a holiday inn, but with modern amenities. The buildings exuded charm. You would recognize nearly everyone as time passed. There was a good variety of food, and we didn't see the shortages that returning tourists staying elsewhere in Cayo Coco shared on e returning flight to Hamilton. Was neat to learn that some of the employees had been there since the resort opened..

Upon arrival we were served a drink in the lobby and we were warmly welcomed by Jose who helped us get our luggage to our room. The room was spacious and cheerful, with an ocean view. The beach was beautiful and the grounds were immaculately kept. Be sure to visit the gardener who brings his pet iguana, Juanita. He will get you a coconut to drink! He was so very kind and gave us a homemade treat made by his wife. The pizza restaurant was a highlight of this resort and the service there was fantastic! Katia and Yaima were attentive and SO MUCH FUN! They definitely made our stay better. I have never been treated so well. Best pizza I ever had. We made so many friends and the staff really made us feel like part of the Playa Coco family. I will definitely come back to this resort and I will tell everyone about it!

Just 5 minutes walk to the beautiful beach. Water is clear with white fine sand. Food is good. Have show almost every night.

I had a great experience, the staff were really lovely and helpful. The food was good, there were lots of options to choose from. The building were a bit old but it was neat. I enjoyed my stay.
