BEST HOTEL IN AREA

Fantastic vacation in Cuba at Playa Paraíso it was about our 20th time just at this resort!
I had the pleasure of staying at the Playa Paraíso with my family and friends, and I couldn't have asked for a better time we are treated like family.
The staff were all great! Everyone of the workers in all areas gave 100 percent. These people are hard-working, accommodating, and super friendly, it takes them hours to get to work and put a smile on there face to make you happy!
A special affirmation to Ernesto,George and of course Annelys whose job it was to liven things up days and nights at the pool and the bars areas, and they did so .
Housekeeping staff went above and beyond by taking the time to decorate our rooms with flowers as well as shaping the blankets and towels into lovely swan and heart shapes and even writing thank you notes for us.
Dining room staff at the buffet and la a cartes were conscientious, asking what we'd like to drink, and always courteous, constantly refilling our water glasses and clearing dishes away. All the chefs at the grilling table whose dishes were always made-to-order, whether they were omelettes in the morning or steak strips or pork medallions for lunch and dinner. They have alot of bacon to make you happy
Bartenders at all the bars were really friendly and knowledgeable and mixed great drinks!
Even the gardeners were hospitable, greeting us every time we walked to our bungalow.
Some of them would create flowers or grasshoppers by intricately weaving palm leaves, even bracelets for all the woman with us!
When I was given these, it always made my day!
For the price, this holiday was more than I expected.
Anyone who has things to complain about is being obtuse.
We all work hard for our money and have to save in order to splurge on a vacation, but compare this price to all the other packages.
If you're expecting full-on luxury, then you need to pay for that.
Also, complaining about the workers approaching you to exchange canadian coins for american bills is asinine. A quick Google search will teach you that the locals can do absolutely nothing with the loonies and toonies you give them as tips. You have to make sure your bills are not ripped because there banks will not take.
So, the money you worked hard for and have taken with you on vacation for tips is wasted.
These people can only use their cuban money or american bills to buy things.
Just ask any of them. They'll be more than willing to share some facts with you.
The next time you want to book a vacation and choose Cuba because the price is right, take american bills for tipping or 5 dollar bills.
You'll get the service I just wrote about.
And if you've booked for beautiful Cayo Coco again, pack bug spray like we did. It sure made things more enjoyable. Again, you'll learn from a quick Google search that the island of Cayo Coco is 80% swamp land, so mosquitoes will always be abundant spray in morning and night, Men wear pants at night you will be happy.
I have been everywhere in Cuba and Cayo Coco is the best. If you are Single use this hotel there is no price difference. [Details]

We want to give a special thank you to Elianys and Roberto and their whole team at the snack bar for going above and beyond with customer service.

Another excellent employee is Tomas Magdiel Hernandez Suarez. He not only helped, he went out of his way to locate us in the hotel and offer a sincere apology for any inconvenience that was caused. Staff smokes in No Smoking section

Hotel Playa Paraiso strikes out

Staff refuses to respect 2 small no smoking areas. There was a time when we were very happy with most aspects of this hotel.

There is a designated "smoking area" for staff, but they continue to use the small no smoking section as a place to smoke, near children, near non smokers, even near cancer survivors like my wife. I personally spoke to the staff in:
- January 2023 at the reception desk
- January 2024 I spoke to a tall woman from customer service regarding the issue and she lit a cigarette up while I was complaining.
- April 2024 I expressed my concerns again with reception, customer service, and members of the management team.
- May 2024 a member of the management team messaged me in Canada asking if I could purchase 20 NO SMOKING signs . I was happy to help.
- June 2024 we delivered 20 aluminum NO SMOKING signs to the hotel along with some additional items for maintenance staff. We donated the things to the hotel for free thinking it was an investment in future vacations. I have been told senior management doesn't want the signs installed.
It has become clear that a select few staff and managers have no respect for the guests.
The staff's attitude encourages the guests to sit and smoke in the non smoking area.

Statistics show that LESS than 12% of Canadians smoke and more than 88% are non smokers.
I wonder how many guest's would be here if management worked as hard at pleasing 88% instead of 12% ?
The beach would look cleaner. Staff wouldn't work as hard cleaning ashtrays or cleaning old cigarette butt's out of the cup holders on pool chairs.

At check-in we were told that the room we were assigned was made up for only one and the attendant would bring us extra towels in the morning...we were late getting to the hotel...no towels showed up all week, we had to share one small towel between us. The toilet didn't flush properly. The bathtub was very hard to get into, had a big crack in the bottom. Had the feeling that the sheets hadn't been changed from the previous occupants. Couldn't figure out the cooling system, the safe in the room didn't work, the sliding doors to the balcony were very difficult to open/close. A lot to the lights on the pathways were out or broken. Stay at Hotel Playa Pariaso

It was a relaxing experience away from normal life. The hotel rooms are spacious bit needs upgrades to several facilities in the room. The safe in our room was broken, iy couldn't lock and technician didn't come to fix after giving an excuse of going for lunch. Toilet paper was scar ce in all bathrooms, iron board broken and phone in room didn't work. Customer service was poor when u needed something done. Water was not available in room on some days. Broken shower faucets. The evening entertainment was great! Something for the kids as well. The food was not so great as it seems left overs from breakfast was added to lunch or dinner. It was the same food most days at the buffet Allegra and people need to know more about the a la carte venues to try options. More restaurants offering variety is needed. The Italian restaurant was excellent! Lots of flies causing stomach aches and diarrhea on some days. Access to beach towels is needed rather than one towel for one week! Overall it was nice to be near the pool and beaches and to have wifi in lobby and other places at the hotel, that was positive. [Details]

This is our second time at Playa Paraiso. Wish we had booked 2 weeks instead of just 1. Everyone working at the hotel was great, 3 of the staff stood out above the rest.
---- First person is our house keeper Kisbel Armas Trujillo. She did an amazing job looking after us. The room was always perfect, she was friendly, polite, and professional, always making you feel right at home
----- The second Person is Elianys from the Captain's Snack Bar. Her Smile, and attention to detail was great. The entire team that works with Elianys does an amazing job of looking after the guests.

BEST RESORT IN CAYO COCO

Just returned after 3 weeks away. I have been to 6 of the resorts along Cayo Coco and this one is the best. It will be my 7th time here.Will be back December 2 because I got Bribed to go to Playa Coco to try. I just love this resort, the staff goes out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and happy. Right from the Bellhops to the grounds crew. All the Al a Cartes are great and the staff. Thanks to George everything is great. There is also a pasta station where you can have alfredo sauce or tomatoe sauce. Trust me you won't go hungry. The beach is amazing. The rooms were great and we had a suite - I guess I am perfect. A special thank you to Annelys and Ernesto for always making us feel like family. Santa is the cleaning lady near the buffet she is a wonderful hard working lady and always happy to see me and my wife. I can't wait to see everyone in 2 weeks again. [Details]

This was our 2nd time at this hotel. This hotel meets alot of what we are looking for. Short trip from airport (20 minutes), very few stairs on resort, not alot of walking needed to get to anywhere, a beach that was not too wavey due to peninsula protection. Beach is wonderful. Food this year was much improved from our visit a year ago. Staff were helpful and friendly. Water shoes would be helpful but you could make due if you don't have them. The airline used to and from what not a pleasant experience. Airport horrible.
The bus ride was fine. The hotel had many mosquitos. Check in was fine. No bellboy to take luggage around. Walked to find our building while getting eaten alive. Made it to our room. The room was extremely musty smelling but was clean. The bathroom was clean but the shower is over 24" to step in, the shower worked ok, no problem with pressure or temperature. The hose did have a leak. The caulking is in need of being replaced. The maids did make the bed and sweep the balcony. The sheets were never exchanged in 7 days, the floors were swept once in our room. Cats with kittens around resort which we expect. Staff didn't seem happy. The music is the same as it has been for many many years. Updating needed in the rooms for sure. No pop to drink except flat pop they put into the slushy machines. Coffee was extremely weak. Had to mix expresso into our coffee to have a coffee.
Beach was ok. Not the best I've been too. The food was ok. I eat everything. They need to work on temperature. Eggs a few days then powdered eggs used. Gross. Found a cigar but in one of the rolls. But it was ok. Whole experience was not what we had expected. We won't be returning. [Details]

Enjoyable week at Playa Paraiso

Spent a very enjoyable week at Playa Paraiso, from Sept 20-27th. It was our seventh time in Cuba. Check-in and check-out went very smoothly, and service with a smile. We were in room 4311 with ocean view. The resort is very clean and the gardeners keep the grounds impeccable. The lobby area is a great place to chill before going for dinner. The service was excellent throughout the resort. Thanks to Dariel for keeping our room clean and Daniela for serving our drinks with a smile.

The beach was beautiful with plenty of loungers and palapas. Enter the water directly in front of the beach bar where there is no coral to hurt your feet. The pool area was very clean with a lot of loungers as well. The à la carte restaurants were all very good. The lunchtime pizza served at the Ranchon near the beach was delicious!

The buffet was a little disappointing but still quite adequate. The rooms are a little dated but they have begun to renovate them.

Best Beach

Stayed here for 2 weeks. The first few days were a bit hard as a few things in our room didn't work, TV and often toilet. We got moved to building 1 and we loved it. The room was nice and comfortable with a nice size balcony but I know in the other building (8) the bed was not so comfortable. We have been to Cuba many times and you never go expecting great food but I will say they did have something for everyone and you just have to lower your expectations when you go to Cuba. They are doing their best and they just can't get everything they need right now. We are beach people and have stayed in cayo coco in the past and you can't beat the beach. Only thing is you have to get up at 6:30am to bring your towels down and get your chairs. Most of the staff if super nice and will help you out. We bring lots of stuff they need and we also tip regularly and we find you got looked after better. [Details]

We stayed at this resort over March Break. First, I must say that dear Cuba has been hit hard by both natural, and worldly events. They try so very hard to do what they can to make everyone happy, and to boost their tourism rate back up again. Every single worker at this hotel worked their buns off. From the housekeeping, the gardeners, the waiting staff, front desk, everyone. Now, the currency. I read a lot beforehand in what to bring, but it wasn't until I was there that I knew for sure. Canadian BILLS. Please don't use loonies and twonies. The Cubans cannot use these as currency, and end up having to ask tourists if they can exchange them for bills, as their bank will not exchange. The bills must also have no damage in them at all, or the banks will not take them. They do take American bills load up on American $1 bills if you like. Or Euros. The Cuban money is not used much at all. [Details]

Everyone was very friendly and kind. Beach is amazing. Iced coffee perfection. There are also a lot of stray cats which we LOVED. All very friendly. They say not to feed them, but how can one not? Also wheelchair accessible.
The weak points
Some tourists are jerks. Be respectful.No ketchup, jams, Nutella. Bring them if you need them. Clean towels are somewhat unheard of in rooms. No see em bites. Bring bug spray. Not good wifi. Beds and pillows are not A1.

No one was really wearing a mask, but there was antibacterial pumps here and there.

The beach is amazing, some staff are nice like the servers in the buffet and pool bartenders. But some staff, like the front desk workers, act like you are bothering them when you approach them. We had the same dirty white towels for days. I asked for extra bottled water and never got it. We had to share two thin blankets for 4 people, they wouldn't give us any extra. The food in the buffet is terrible. We ate Hot Dogs every day for lunch at the snack bar but they don't have any condiments. I was hoping to enjoy some cocktails on my vacation but they don't have anything to make anything good. Wifi only worked for me in the lobby in the morning. Entertainment staff only acknowledge you if you are young and partying. No fun activities/exercising on the beach like the resort next door. This is our 5th time in Cuba and by far the worst stay, but we made the best of it. [Details]

Absolute Garbage

At first arriving it was beautiful! Had to wait almost 4hrs for our room as check in is 4pm and we arrived shortly before noon. Walked into our room and the smell of mold and mustiness hit our faces. Asked the workers who brought our luggage along with the front desk about it and was given the story about it being the air conditioning and humidity. My husband gotten eaten alive in our room. Didn't bother going to the beach to end up getting eaten by sand fleas. Buffet was the same food and smelled and tasted like fish. Limited selection and didn't taste good at all. Could've done better

Weather was excellent. Resort grounds were well maintained. The resort is "dated" and not everything works. The phone in the room would not ring but I could call out. The shower head had a lot of calcium build up. The water was warm and never hot. The rooms were not cleaned everyday and cleaning when done was minimal and water was given by request only.
Food was adequate, ran out of cheese on day 4. There were line ups for the buffet lunch and buffet dinner every day. The staff for the most part was very slow and not as friendly as they have been previous visits. It was almost as if there wasn't anybody overseeing the operations of the resort.
The service was amazing on Valentine day. I found out later that the owners were on site.
No issues with airport or air transportation. [Details]

Amazing beach!

First off, I want to say how amazingly beautiful this beach is. First time at a smaller resort. Has its charm. Rooms are ok... But it is Cuba. Distance to everything is short walks
Not miles away. Stayed in bungalow #1. Was decent. Bed not as comfy as home, but not the worst. The staff are Amazing! Especially Daniella at the pool bar! And ALL the entertainment team. Had a small issue with ( non valuable) unimportant things taken from maid, even though I left many gifts aside. So that was a bummer and not cool ( No value .. dollar store razor/ shampoo sample) That being said..... I still would come back again. The beach and rest of staff were well worth the return trip. It's one of the closest resorts to the airport. ( 15-20 min) great value at this resort! [Details]

We had an amazing time at Hotel Playa Paraiso. Stayed in building 3 , room 3305 with an ocean view. This was our first visit to Cuba so we only booked 1 week . Ended up wanting to stay longer. One highlight was our housekeeper Kisbel . She went out of her way to make everything perfect. We felt like family by the end of our holiday.
