Resonance Musique Varadero

My experience was not the best during my most recent trip. I would say arriving at noon, told check in was 4pm, and not getting a room until 5:45pm made the day very long and exhausting as I was awake and travelling since 4:30am. Next they told us that due to low occupancy the buffet restaurant on Musique resort was closed and we had to walk to the Blu resort for buffet meals (breakfast lunch and dinner). A snack bar above the pool was available with hamburgers fries and pasta depending on the day. Air conditioning worked well, but froze up and needed to be defrosted during the day. This was minor as it kept the room cool overnight. The safe did not have batteries and I reported it and waited in my room as directed. No one showed up. I tried the next day and someone came and told me it needed batteries. I waited two more hours and a new person arrived and said he didn't have batteries. So I gave up on the safe. To contact Guest Services you need to use WhatsApp and it is an international call centre who forwards the concern but doesn't reply to tell you what's happening. So you need to walk over a km to Blu lobby to talk to a very friendly staff member. One other concern about my safety wasn't able to be corrected either for the whole stay. The dead bolt lock is installed wrong and even when locked, the key card will over ride an open from the hallway. More then once I was in bed with deadbolt on and had staff enter and apologize The Beach is great. Water is excellent and was so calm. I think because of low occupancy it was not cleaned like the high season. But it was the best part of my vacation. [Details]

We had set our expectations low because of Cuba's recent power outages and hurricanes, and were pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously! Food was good enough even for a picker eater like me. We had 6 days of real eggs and a huge spread at the Blu buffet the final night (roast beef, turkey and roast pork). Italian a la carte was really good too. Weather was chilly a couple days so we had quite a few excellent cappuccinos. We fell in love with the staff especially our chefs and waitresses and the lovely lady at the reservation desk. We will be back in a few weeks!! [Details]
