Bridgetown

This was my second stay the Blue Horizon. Once again it was great. I can't say enough about the friendly and efficient staff! Any thing we asked of them, they were quick to accommodate us. The cleaning staff are so friendly and rooms are cleaned to perfection daily. The staff at the desk always have a smile. The restaurant has been updated and again the staff is great. I thoroughly enjoyed my supper meal. Food was great. The continental breakfast, which is included could be improved by having a few more items on the buffet, but otherwise is fine. Our room is plenty big with lots of storage. Most importantly a large balcony looking across to Rockley beach. We even were greeted by a family of bajan green monkeys one morning while out enjoying our coffee there. The location of hotel is superb. Close to beach, shops, great restaurants and a beautiful boardwalk. I'll be back, for sure!

Returned home Saturday 15/6/2024 late evening from The Sands Resort Barbados, Room #64. Doing laundry Sunday morning at home, 16/6/2024, I realized that several items of clothing were missing/stolen/taken by the employee who was assigned to take care of our room. So....while at work employees see it fit to help themselves to property which is not their's. Shameful dishonest employee! Who ever you are, you must have desperately needed my items. Beach is erroded, small, pictures are deceptive. Palm trees toppled over into the water. Gastronomy highly satisfactory. Drinks not top shelf liquor; local quality barely adequate tasting. Bedroom in the Standard Room Category is upstairs, stairs are impractical and steep. Living area, kitchen, sliding door to pool/patio on the ground level. Access from the back #64, no A/C at main floor-humidity is thick; A/C upstairs bedroom is noisy and runs on...without disengaging when preset temperature is set...runs on, and impacts sleep. Management requires greater readiness to assist, real lack compassion, and no empathy either. Check - in was self completed, staff were unhelpful and distracted with all matters personal & could care less to do their jobs! M.K.F

This hotel is a good place to stay. The location was nice and there was lots of place to have a choice of where to eat.

Hotel was very nice and very clean. Staff was friendly and welcoming. We visited on off season so resort was quiet and not very busy. Not on beach but short shuttle(free) to beach or into town. Also enjoyed the free glass bottom boat tour and swam with turtles

We were there for Valentine's day and stayed a week. This small hotel is perfect if you want to spend a quiet and relaxing vacation. When we were there the guests were almost exclusively British and mostly above 50 years old. We were told that there is a lot of repeat guests all year around. The staff is exceptionally pleasant and friendly. The hotel being so small, they get to know you quickly. The hotel itself is generally in good condition and adequately maintained. Our room (#4) had a garden view. It was in OK condition but a bit small and dated in our opinion. Next time we will select a better room. The food is excellent. Most of the time you select your meal from the menu at lunch and dinner. A few times it was buffet style. Breakfast is always a buffet. There is also a couple of theme nights. They had a few shows in the evening and we enjoyed them. From the hotel you can walk to the beach (public beach). It is only a 2 minutes walk. You can snorkel right from the beach and you get to see plenty of different fish as well as turtles. No need to pay for an excursion. They rent chairs and umbrellas on the beach (20 USD a day) or you can put your towel directly on the beach. There are trees so you can be in the shade if you prefer. One thing we found awesome is that they bring the race horses at the beach to bathe and swim in the ocean on a daily basis. On Sunday there was about twelve horses in the water at the same time. You can also walk into Bridgetown. We did a lot of that. There are all sorts of things to see or do nearby such a horse racing track, historical museum visit, an extremely lively an interesting commercial street, etc. There are monkeys around the hotel even though it is right into town. We found this quite fun. Wifi works in the lobby but not in the rooms. It was our first time staying at such a small hotel but we really loved it. We seriously consider going back.
