Bahamas Vacation
We travelled as a group of four to Freeport. This was our second trip to Bahamas having been to Nassau in 2017. We had an excellent flight from Toronto and arrived around 11:30 am. The airport arrival area was not overly large so it took some time to get where we needed to be but we eventually got our bags and were on our way to Viva Fortuna on the double decker bus. After a quick 15 minute ride, arrived at the hotel we were ushered into the theatre area to get our wristbands. Our rooms would not be ready until 3 pm but we could enjoy the buffet, pool and beach while we waited. Our room was an ocean view 1146, the building right next to the main building and the trapeze. If you prefer a quieter time don't choose this block of rooms. The music continues until about 11:30 and it can be loud. We loved being close to everything. The buffet had something for everyone and theme nights each day of the week. The 3 a la cartes we amazing! We have stayed at many 5 star resorts and we found these to be among the best we've had. The beach was absolutely beautiful and we never had to worry about finding a chair. Always lots available any time of day. A couple of days the cruise ship folks would come by but they were always friendly and cheerful. We met lots of new people on the cruise days. The pool chairs were always full and although we never swam in the pool, it looked clean and well taken care of. The rooms were not large but were clean and yes could use a little updating. We always had hot water, great pressure and the air conditioner worked perfectly. The beds were comfy and we slept well. It was cool in the evening and definitely needed a sweater after dinner enjoying the entertainment. Viva Fortuna does not stock the mini fridges. We knew going that we had to bring out own water bottles to refill and the refilling station was right outside our room. This resort is definitely worth booking. As travellers that only travel to 5 star and adults only, we loved it! The staff and animation team were absolutely perfect hosts! Try it, you won't be disappointed!

Gorgeous boutique resort in the heart of Lucaya
From the room, to the grounds, to the staff everything was incredible at Pelican Bay! It's perfectly located just a short walk from the marketplace and a short, scenic, ferry ride to Taino Beach (where you have access to the beach, pools, etc.). The grounds are beautifully landscaped with stunning water views. We were treated to breathtaking sunsets over the marina from our balcony. The lighting at night creates a magical ambiance throughout the grounds. We were in one of the more updated rooms. It was spacious and modern. I know it's a small thing but I loved the nice touches like hooks on the balcony to hang your beach towels. Housekeeping is every 2nd day..which suited us just fine. There are 3 beautiful pools but they were a bit too cold for us during our visit in February. There isn't a beach on site but in addition to the free ferry to the Taino Beach resort you can also pay $25 for a day pass at the Lighthouse Pointe resort right next door. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet .... lots to choose from and a bit of variety every day. You'd have to be extremely fussy not to find something to enjoy. We also really enjoyed our meal at Sabor Restaurant....wonderful service and delicious food! Bones Bar was also a popular hang out on the water's edge...cold drinks, reasonable prices and stunning views. There are numerous other bars and restaurants within walking distance (we enjoyed the Flying Fish right next door). We had nothing but positive experiences with the staff. Everyone we dealt with was warm, friendly and attentive. We highly recommend Pelican Bay if you are planning a trip to Freeport!!
