The hotel,needs upgrading for sure all over. The front desk took a long time to check us in. We had requested two rooms on the same floor or even the main floor,for handicapped. But we got neither, so had to go up with the girl and look at the one they finally found on the 5th floor as our friends were on the 5th floor, the girl said the 3rd floor was exactly the same. so I had a quick look and thought it looked alright. But did not notice our balcony was just above all the air conditioners so after getting there , we realized we could not even sit out there and relax too noisy??And we had paid for an upgrade before we left. We have been to mexico on other occasions and just paid the normal price no up grades, which were way better, the room was no better for the priority rooms we thought we were paying for. We also were told we would get better drinks, but they were only for the Elite Members!!!Sitting on the top shelf, did not feel very nice
when you asked for something on the top shelf and you where told you could not have them, and also could not have breakfast on the beach resturant! Worst part was we did not get hot water in our shower until the
4th day, the staff came right up when we called, but it didn't get fixed until the our holiday was 1/2 over!!! Not the staff's fault if they have not been trained in plumbing. the maid did not clean the floors very well, she straightened up but did not mop the floor every day or wipe down the the
dressers and same dust ball was under the vanity in the bathroom, all week, and it would be very helpful if they could speak alittle english. We were also told there would be a welcome liquour bottle of our choice in the room waiting for us, and nothing??? Also other resorts have had people waiting for you with drinks and we seen at one hotel we dropped people off on the the way from the airport, they got cool towels the minute the stepped in the lobby and got a refreshing drink. Also asked when booking to have you do something speacial for my friends 65th birthday, and there was nothing until I went down to the concierge and set something up. Also the concierge that was just the regular one was not at the desk most of the time, the bell man would say they stepped away for a few minutes. I Hour later still hadn't returned.First time in my life we spent the extra to be priority, and we're not treated any different, than anyone else there.I was really looking forward to having a little pampering nothing fancy in the room just very plain .

Our room was in poor condition and is outdated. The paint on our walls had bubbled up and was attempting to just paint over so it wouldn't be noticed. The sun was blocked by the hotel next door so we only got sun till 2:30pm unless you went down to the beach. The ocean was too rough to swim in.

Sandos Cancun has one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen as well as comfortable, king sized beds to relax on and view the beach. You do need to get up quite early to reserve one of these beds, but this is a typical issue at all incisive.The workers are beyond friendly and gracious. I was appalled to see so few people tipping. A couple of dollars makes a big difference to them! The rooms are large and comfortable, most of the food is really good - we preferred Frattini's Italian and Gaijin Tepanyaki. The resort lobby, bars and restaurants are beautifully decorated. We would return as we had a great experience. [Details]

The breakfast at the buffet (there was hardly any bacon and when it was brought out, it was gone in seconds), some of the menu items could be hit and miss at the a La cartes

The hotel is very nice and easy to get around. The beach and pools are great..lots of fun activities. The Sandos claims to accommodate all restrictive diets and allergies...they don't, it wasn't till the third day that I had some food safe to eat. But even the guests with no restrictions complained about the food...it's really too bad as food is a big part of how you will rate the hotel. They fell very short on that point. [Details]

Food...they had mediocre at best in all tge restaurants except for the Japanese was good. They do not accommodate gluten free as easy as they claim. Very little choices if any.

All staff were attentive and made sure we were taken care of. Fantastic spa experience . Always had a cabana available. First time ever at a resort that there were no line ups at bars and buffets.

Balcony furniture needs to be updated and railings need to be properly secured.

Everyone at the hotel tried very hard to make us comfortable. The hotel is beautiful and small. No complaints. The food was good, yet not great. The hotel now has a highrise built next to it, and it does take away the atmosphere (and sunlight). A very good hotel, but not "over the top". In fairness to Sandos; they tried VERY hard and we enjoyed ourselves. I would go back. [Details]
