Royalton Grenada 1 week solo
I stayed at Royalton Grenada during a week when the resort was operating at about 60% capacity, and overall, I was very impressed. It's an excellent property, and I'd be more than happy to recommend and sell it to clients. There were a few minor hiccups, mostly due to the resort being slightly short-staffed at the end of May. For example, I had a long wait for a table at the buffet a couple of times, and some guests experienced a short delay in getting their rooms after check-in time. These were manageable with a little patience. The food was excellent, I am a foodie. I dined at all of the à la carte restaurants, which require reservations through the Royalton app. My only wish was that they allowed bookings for the entire week in advance — instead, you can only reserve one day at a time, and some restaurants are only open every other day. The buffet was fantastic, with made-to-order omelets and a wide variety of options. Pasta and other dishes also made to order in front of you for lunch and dinner. There is not a lot of authentic Grenadian dishes at the buffet (usually just one or two) so if clients are looking for that I highly recommend they go to “Grenadian night” at the buffet during their stay so they can get a better taste of Grenadian cuisine. There was nightly entertainment, and they have a “vibe team” which will do their best to get everyone dancing and having fun. They also run a lot of fun activities in the day at both pool areas. The swim up bar was closed when I was there unfortunately but that pool is located directly beside diamond clubs pool. I had no issue going into the diamond club pool when invited over by new friends. They were not checking wrist bands. I also dined at the “diamond club” restaurant on the beach without issue. The diamond club rooms do have their own little lounge they can access 24/7 for snacks and drinks. There's 24/7 room service anyways though so not much of an advantage in my opinion. Their rooms are closer to the beach of course but a very far walk from the buffet, restaurants, and the entertainment venues. There is a very small splash pad area for kids which I did not see anyone using. Most kids would just play in the water at the beach. There are two beaches, the far Watersports beach is stunning, perfect for swimming nice and sandy. Then the main beach is the show stopper, the kind of beach you can walk up and down all day every day and not get sick of. It's rocky and reefy so the only people swimming on the main beach are people with snorkels or people on floaties. You can see so many little fish along the shore line. There is a gorgeous mix of almond and palm trees. Lots of beach chairs and they are very comfy, nicer than the chairs they had at the Radisson which is on Grande Anse Beach. Honestly the Radisson did not look impressive to me from the beach, I think people were paying for the excellent location. I met a couple who checked out Sandals and they said that their beach was nowhere near as nice as ours at the Royalton. I went to this resort alone and I felt completely safe. I felt like I could spot a security guard at almost any time I looked. The grounds are stunning with endless flowers, I have never seen anything so lush. Very well-kept grounds. The staff and people on the island are incredibly friendly. My room was great, very clean. I just booked the lead in room category, but I paid a little extra to use Royalton's feature where you can select the location of your room. I ended up with what I would consider an ocean view/partial ocean view by doing this. I highly recommended room 11312 for this reason. It was only an extra 69 USD to select my room location. All in all, It's a beautiful resort. Whether you're traveling solo, as a couple, or with family, it offers great value and an unforgettable Caribbean experience.
