Before Christmas Vacation

My 2nd visit to this hotel. Things have deteriorated with regards to beverage and water availability within the last 12 months. Food was plentiful but repetitive. Pool and grounds well maintained. Staff was friendly and always willing to make the vacation better where they were able to. I'll return again. [Details]

The strong points

Pool area did not have loud thumping music during the day. We were able to talk comfortably. Staff was wonderful and ensured that we enjoyed our vacation to the best of their abilities.

The weak points

Water filtration was a huge issue which made it undrinkable and it had a terrible smell. My building in particular had no hot water at any time. "Cuba Day" was poorly done. No pop available for drinks, unless you paid $2USD per can.

The reception staff seemed very stressed. Needed more lights on the grounds. The food was very repetitive. The 3 restaurants were only for the repeat guests, which I think was not fair, then why mention it on the website. The food was always cold in spite of been in hot pots was not covered and flies were sitting on it. [Details]

Some staff were exceptional.

The weak points

The wifi sucked, did not have enough beer and mojito ingredients available, no 3 pin plug in the walls, had to request for bottled water everyday, ask for toiletries every day, no hot water in the evening.

Being VIP, i stayed in one of the Villas, beautiful bright, large room with ample closet space, nice big bathroom TV, fridge and balcony. I mainly ate all my lunch/dinner meals at El Benny's, and breakfast at the 24hr Bar. The waitresses, waiters and Bar staff provide excellent service. The food always delicious and wholesome. The GYM is well-equipped, clean, open and larger than most resort Gyms. Washrooms and showers are also located in the Gym is a sauna.
Villa Section has a pool, a mini pool for little children, a mini-club, and a games room.
The grounds around the Villa are meticulously kept, the gardeners working tirelessly to keep everything beautiful. [Details]

The strong points

Beach! Wait and Bar staff working very hard to keep the guests well looked after. The housekeeping staff providing spotless rooms and common areas. Wifi available throughout the resort. The food!

The weak points

The older original part of the resort ("the Barracks") is standing abandoned and in disrepair. Heartbreaking to see since I recall their beauty in 1990s.
