Riviera Maya
The resort is really big with plenty of things to do. The beach is beautiful and the water is always clean. The waves depend on the weather. There are nice offers for water sports like windsurfing, jet skying and other things. The rooms are comfortable and always cleaned well and on time. You will need to take your time choosing food because they have a big variety. Everyone is going to find a dish that suits him and even if you don't like buffets you can still find a selection of classy restaurants around the resort. Viva Maya has a good location from where you can reach interesting places via bike or walking for example Playa del Carmen. There are also shops less than a 2-minute walk from the resort. What's for sure is that you will never get bored in the resort thanks to the entertainment team and night show team! Which I like especially about them is that they sometimes do activities connected to the Mexican history such as old Mexican games or food tastings. You should not miss out on these guys when coming here! Staff works so hard, super professional friendly and obviously happy to work there. The acrobatics performed in the entertainment shows were amazing! Special thanks to the dancers! Great night shows! [Details]

Great hotel
It was really fun, the people that organize the activities are really joyful and make entertaining activities all day, they were all great. The staff was always making sure everything was clean and I really enjoyed the food.
The weak points
I reduced service rating because of the loud music at the pool in day time.
The solution is simple-reduce the volume. Adding real Mexican live music instead would be amazing!

We spent 9 very enjoyable days at Viva Maya by Wyndham. Although they are in the process of renovating their rooms we stayed in one of the older rooms and it was perfect spotless clean with a very comfortable bed. We enjoyed the food at the buffet and the al a carte restaurants were extremely good. The grounds were well kept and the beaches amazing. We really enjoyed specialty coffee bars. The evening in the plaza off the lobby where they had pop up entertainers was a wonderful surprise, it became the evening go to place. We would highly recommend this resort [Details]

Palm trees for shade on beach. Upgraded to members section. Comfy beds, large room, adult pool and bar. Staff efficient. Lines not long. Food was good but very repetitive. Booze was your typical sugary drinks. Serve from bottle beer at adult bar. Animation staff was energetic but was difficult to find out what was going on. App does not explain where activities are and times were incorrect. A la carte restaurants were decent, Viva Maya was the best. Wine is good in the restaurants. Can't book on app says full but guest services gets you in. We had a great time!! [Details]

I was particularly impressed with the house keeping staff assigned to clean my room . She was extremely meticulous, thorough and kind .
The weak points
When we arrived , we were placed in a temporary room for the night , due to the hotel overbooking guests . The front desk staff told us that if we didn't like THEIR error , that we could leave this resort and stay elsewhere . She was extremely rude .
Sanitary measures
The resort is very clean . The housekeeping staff is very diligent with sanitary measures.

To begin this hotel has zero ventilation. Unfortunately my son wife and I were very sick and now that we are home I'm told I have food poisoning. The cheeses and many other food items are kept out in hot conditions. Part of the staff are great and others were horrible. I am positive that I will never visit another Wyndham resort ever. The hotel is nice but needs to be maintained. On our arrival, we had been up since 4:30 am to catch the flight and after losing an hour we did not get the room till 3 pm. People at the reception, mostly men, are totally unresponsive. You can wait in the line up for hours and the people behind the counter will continue doing what they are; unless you call out "OLLA". Our bathroom toilet would get jammed every day and we requested a room change the first day.It took them 4 days to change our room and the room we were moved to did not have internet, unless you stand in the balcony. The music in the late evening till 11pm is so loud by the pool without any consideration for people suffering with heart condition. For regular customer there is limited choice of alcoholic drinks. I am a scotch drinker, if they ran out of basic scotch, they won't offer me a regular scotch like "Johnny Walker Red Label" which was only for ViVa members. So that's it for you. No bottled beer, only beer on the tap. [Details]

I would say this resort is an average resort from what I've seen and compared in Mexico. The staff are friendly but very few of them spoke English at all. Nothing really stood out to us at this resort. The beach had a LOT of seaweed, the food overall at the restaurants, buffet and snack bar wasn't that great. I found some of the meat to be undercooked. The rooms are very dated, however the staff did a good job of keeping them as clean as possible. Internet/Wifi throughout was VERY choppy. It didn't work in many areas and made it difficult to communicate with family members. Overall for the price, I guess it was ok but I would probably pay a bit more and stay somewhere else next time. We have stayed at several resorts in the Mayan Riviera and this one was one of our top picks! The resort was not too big yet still offered everything you would need! Great pools, delicious food, amazing beach and friendly staff. The only thing I would say was not top notch was the room. It was a decent size and bed was comfy but the bed was creeky and one of the legs didn't touch the ground and there was more rust and build up in the bathroom/shower than most Mexican resorts. The spa is also AMAZING! We did the couples massage which gave us access to the hot and cold jacuzzis, champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. Price for the services was comparable to back home. Overall this was a great stay! [Details]

We had a lovely time even though it rained for the first 4 days. Lovely resort, Lovely staff, we loved our room and comfortable bed on the ground floor. near the trapeze, Yes I said trapeze, Cool, Delicious drinks and a big variety of food that was endless and fresh, The two pools were refreshing and the beach spectacular with a view of Cozumel across the way.. There was nightly entertainment very lively. We tried all the restaurants and they were great, yes the food could be a little hotter in temperature but it was still delicious The location was fantastic within walking distance to a outdoor mall of shops full of many souvenirs and clothing. I would definitely come here again and even stay at this resort... Jo-Anne & Steve [Details]

The hotel was very nice the rooms were clean and maintained. The resort is a smaller one but was nice to have easy access to everything so close. The food was great with lots of options. I think the best part is the staff. One in particular went above and beyond his name was Carlos he was super helpful telling us about the resort and how to find things and would always say hello when he saw us and even called us by our names when seeing us the next day. Can tell he truly cared about the guests at the resort. [Details]

This hotel, was a big disappointment. Rated 4 stars, is a 3 start at best. The rooms are adequate. An upgraded room sends you to the end of the property closest to the road and furthest from the beach, opposite what we requested. The food, well, I've had better meals in CUBA and that is saying a lot. The beach was great, sadly a bit seaweed covered, but this is no fault of anyone but mother nature. While the property is very well kept, clean and beautifully landscaped, the customer service was pretty deplorable. No one really knows whats up! Everything that is requested is met with a deferral to another person who then defers to someone else. An example, not one soul could confirm when our bus would be picking us up on our departure. When we finally found the tour group rep, we were told that she had no idea because we had not visited her to confirm our details. we are booked at a resort with an arrival and a departure date what more do you need me to confirm??? At the end of the day, every other resort I have been to has binders for each tour operator, with departure dates, flight numbers and pick up times. Absolute nonsense! We made the best of our vacation and had to travel 2hrs away from the resort to actually eat some authentic guacamole...the resort guac was from a package!!! No "AVO TIME" at Viva Wyndham Maya apparently. [Details]

Nice well kept hotel. 3 pools to choose from including a Adults Only pool which was our favourite. Although it's not a brand new hotel the grounds and the rooms are well maintained and very clean and that's all that mattered to us! This is a family resort. Lots of activities to choose from if you like to keep active. Great hard working staff as well as animation team. Food was good at the buffet and restaurants. We just came back from our vacation at Viva Wyndham Maya! Great resort, very clean, good food, amazing shows! The beaches are beautiful(unfortunately this time of the year the sargassum algae give a big headache to the people who work in the resort, but I have a lot of admiration for the hard work they are doing to make people feel comfortable in the water!) It's a resort good for anyone, from the youngsters to the oldest!!! Rooms are kept very clean! Food is very good! [Details]

The resort delivered a lot of entertainment and fun. They had great shows. On the other hand food was very basic. Daily menu changes were very minimal. I found a lot of staff very unhappy and gladly showing their attitude when asked for help. The worse was check in and waiting in line for over an hour after a 10 hours of travelling. A la carte booking were already fully booked during the first days of our stay and I did consider myself lucky to book 3 last days( that was available to us), unfortunately we did get to use only 1. Rooms rundown with a paint pilling off. Air condition loud and weak won't drop the temperature below 24degree Celsius. Will not go back there. [Details]

We had a wonderful time staying in Viva Maya all-in December. The property had all essential amenities that you would expect in all-inclusive hotel, quite decent and clean room with balcony, queen size beds, TV, small fridge, small safety box, iron with board, fairly spacious bathroom with enclosed shower. We checked a couple of a la carte restaurants, which were good, but couldn't get to third one. Buffet is okay with few exceptions, coffee shop is great, and there were snacks station (pizzas, salads, burgers and fries) and of course bars (the lobby bar we found was better). The hotel had quite a good size main pool, and few smaller ones, including adult-only. But the best thing is that the beach starts right outside the pool, so you don't have to walk a long time to get there. The hotel is not a huge one, but I think this is an advantage as you can easily get to all needed facilities very quickly. The beach is clean and well maintained, with easy towel service. Animation team is good and offers lot of activities - you could take kayaks i.e. or have free 20 mins trip on catamaran. Dance classes, kids club, aqua aerobics, archery, trapeze, tennis, table tennis, bikes, evening show program. Another good thing is that the hotel is located in very safe Playacar gated area, so you don't get random people traffic there at all and cars are verified at checkpoints. [Details]

We stayed from Feb 24, 2020 to March 2,2020. Check in process went on smoothly. We were greeted with a nice fruit drink and was explained about the enviro tax which worked out to be around $12 US for the week and the $2 US per day for the secure safe, which we paid at checkout. Checkout was done pretty smoothly as well. You need to get your bracelet removed to get a ticket for the bus ride back to the airport. The room was nice and clean. It smelt like chlorine when we got in, but not overpowering. The beds were comfy, the pillows were a bit hard and we needed the fleeced blanket at night....got cool at night. "Loco" weather in Feb. The shower worked well, got plenty of hot water. There was a flat screen TV which we didn't use. Wifi in the room was adequate. We ended up on the main floor on the B side of the resort, which worked out fine for us as it was pretty quiet and we didn't hear the night time entertainment in our room, plus we were so close to everything, the a la cart restaurants. The beach wasn't far, so nice when the resort isn't so big. There was the trapeze where both adults and kids can try out and they have good nightly entertainment. There were plenty of lounge chair, didn't have to worry about reserving one ahead of time. The weather wasn't so nice and the waves were huge, the flag warning was red the whole week we were there, so we didn't get to try the kayak or the cataraman, however my husband and son tried the parasailing near by, cost $65 US per person. They take you to the boat by jet skis and take your pictures for an extra cost. We didn't try the snorkelling nor the massage either...maybe next time. We also liked the archery part. My son and I painted potteries and the price depended on the size. Once you finished paining the guy "beautify" the piece for you, add glaze and I guess put in the oven and it's ready for pick up the next day. They had many things we didn't try, like bocce ball, volleyball, beach soccer, dance lesson, Spanish lesson and Zumba. Plenty of interesting birds around... a lot of seagulls and blackbirds, but I particularly like t he wood pecker. There's also the agouti, a type of big rodent...kinda look like tail less squirrel quasi rabbit. You can tell the resort was well cared for, you see the housekeeper sweeping even at night and the gardeners keeping the place clean. Everyone works so hard....the bartenders and the waiters. We didn't like the food at the buffet that much, but there are plenty of choices for everyone. We loved the a la cart restaurants. Our favourite was the Mexican, followed by the Mediterranean and then the Viva Cafe. We couldn't get into the Italian restaurant so can't say much about that. The Mexican restaurant had some amazing mango margarita, so delicious and the steak was awesome! Outside the resort there is a nearby mall with Starbucks and pharmacy, jewelry stores and the lot, but I found everything to be pricey....we didn't get a chance to venture out to Playa del Carmen this time around. We did take the Tulum/Cenote/Coba tour and that was interesting, but a full tiring day though. Oh and I forgot to mention they have a 24 hour snack bar right where the pools are and they serve pizza, hamburgers, taco's and other variety of food......good when you come in late and still be able to find something to eat. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Viva Wyndham Maya. It looks like they have a well organized place for the kid's club too. Friendly staff too! We didn't try the pool during our stay, we just stayed at the beach. The pool was pretty small and is often crowded. Would suggest bringing your own Kleenex box as they don't have it in the room. The fridge is there, but empty......best bring your own water bottle where you can fill up from the water station....it was steps away from our room. I suggested to the hotel to have a place to hang wet towels/bathing suit in the balcony since there isn't any place to hang them. There were a lot different nationalities there, a lot of French Canadians, Italians, Polish. I think we were a minority English speaking guests. I also like to mention that we had a problem with our safe and they had a guy fix it within 1/2 hour...I thought we had to wait for him for hours! ...so that was great service right there. Thanks Viva Maya for everything! [Details]

We absolutely loved our time at the hotel and will definitely come back. We have stayed in various hotel chains in Mexico and Caribbean, and this is one of our favourites for sure. Details:
- hotel grounds: perfect size, easy to walk around but not too small, very clean and well kept, almost no mosquitoes, lots of animals, lots of shade when waking around the hotel. - beach: absolutely gorgeous, white sand, clear water, warm, great for swimming, ton of beach chairs and shade available, no need to reserve chairs in the morning. - pool: lots of shallow parts, clean, no swim-up bar which is good for people with kids. There's also an adult-only pool and a kids pool near the main one. - food: delicious, lots of variety at the buffet, Mexican and Mediterranean restaurants were great, didn't get to try the Italian. You can make 3 restaurant reservations if you're staying for a week, and you can book them all in one go. Victor at the Mexican one and Juan at the Mediterranean one went out of their way to accommodate us, thank you! - rooms: clean, comfortable, ac not noisy, good showers and bathroom. Could use better amenities (shampoo, conditioner, bar soap). - connectivity: this is the first hotel I've stayed in Mexico that offers free wifi in the grounds! Not super great but enough to stay connected to the world. However, you have to pay to use your room safe, so evens out in the end. - staff: wonderful and friendly, very accommodating. Entertainment and trapeze crew were great. Shout out to Laura who had lunch with us often and was a wonderful human being. - kids club: so caring, good space with playground and shallow pool, a different fun activity at 3pm everyday and mini disco at 9pm. My daughter was very happy participating in the activities, including cooking classes, piñata party, face painting, dancing games, circus classes, etc. Huge thank you to the whole crew! - activities: trapeze classes, sailing tours, kayaks, beach sports, archery, bikes, ping pong, stand up paddling... no lack of fun things to do, all included already! - nearby: there's a mall area right outside the hotel for cheap souvenirs, and you can walk to 5th Avenida in Playa del Carmen in 20-30 minutes (through the road or beach). From Playa del Carmen you can also take a 30 min ferry to Cozumel (Ultramar) and spend a day in Cozumel which is awesome (Rent a car for the day and drive around the island stopping for snorkeling, beaches, restaurants, parks). Better amenities, softer pillows, smaller bikes for children. In-room safes should be free. Would be nice to have a water slide in the kids pool.

This was our 11th year in a row on this stretch of beach. 3rd year in a row at Wyndham Maya. We always look for price because all hotels in area share same beach. This hotel is good for price. Food and drinks as well as rooms at all 4 resorts we stayed at are good [Details]

Good overall impression. Stayed Dec 17 to 24th, 2018. I am a picky customer and I would recommend this resort to anyone, maybe except people who want to play tennis there as their rooftop tennis courts are unusable. All aspects: the room, food, entertainment, beach, activities, water equipment, etc were to my satisfaction. Note: this is an all inclusive resort for a good value, and if you expecting to drink good wines or perfect drinks prepared with good quality alcohol, you have to settle for what is a norm in such resorts, which is mediocre wines, mediocre beer, and low quality spirits. But there are FREE. You are welcome to walk 150 meters to a shopping mall in Playa Car and buy your own bottle of good rum or wine. Be reasonable in your expectations. The rooms are clean and well maintained, air conditioning is quiet and working, grounds are well kept, the beach is perfect and raked/cleaned daily, the beach loungers are washed daily, the entertainment is good. They have a trapeze acrobatics open to public, and very helpful instructors. The nightly entertainment is good, particularly the acrobatic team. [Details]

The strong points
Good overall resort.Tasty, freshly prepared food. Well staffed, used plates and glasses are right away. Well kept grounds. Clean facilities and rooms. Bars, buffets, pools, beach, entert areas well laid out and in convenient distance. Perfect beach
The weak points
The roof top tennis courts are totally unusable due to unsuitable type of surface.
No water bottle refill restrictions are completely unreasonable.
Hard pillows.
Mediocre wines , beer, and domestic drinks (but they are free!! )

The perfect place to spend a relaxed holiday!
[Details]
Good experience overall
It was a good experience overall.
We had to change rooms after the first 3 nights because there was construction and a lot of noise.
Food was average (typical all inclusive style)
Weather was very hot and humid, so, I wanted a shower after my shower [Details]
Great experience !!
A great resort with some nice surprises
Although they are in the process of renovating their rooms we stayed in one of the older rooms and it was perfect spotless clean with a very comfortable bed.
We enjoyed the food at the buffet and the al a carte restaurants were extremely good.
The grounds were well kept and the beaches amazing.
We really enjoyed specialty coffee bars.
The evening in the plaza off the lobby where they had pop up entertainers was a wonderful surprise, it became the evening go to place.
We would highly recommend this resort [Details]

First Visit To Mexico, Rivera Maya Resort
[Details]

Great vacation!
The spa is also AMAZING! We did the couples massage which gave us access to the hot and cold jacuzzis, champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. Price for the services was comparable to back home.
Overall this was a great stay! [Details]
Christmas vacation
Lovely resort, Lovely staff, we loved our room and comfortable bed on the ground floor. near the trapeze, Yes I said trapeze, Cool, Delicious drinks and a big variety of food that was endless and fresh, The two pools were refreshing and the beach spectacular with a view of Cozumel across the way.. There was nightly entertainment very lively.
We tried all the restaurants and they were great, yes the food could be a little hotter in temperature but it was still delicious
The location was fantastic within walking distance to a outdoor mall of shops full of many souvenirs and clothing.
I would definitely come here again and even stay at this resort...

Viva Wyndham Maya review
This is a family resort. Lots of activities to choose from if you like to keep active. Great hard working staff as well as animation team.

Viva Wyndham Maya
Great resort, very clean, good food, amazing shows!
The beaches are beautiful(unfortunately this time of the year the sargassum algae give a big headache to the people who work in the resort, but I have a lot of admiration for the hard work they are doing to make people feel comfortable in the water!)
It's a resort good for anyone, from the youngsters to the oldest!!!
Rooms are kept very clean!
Food is very good! [Details]

Family trip
Vacation
Terrible service to check in - only one line open , plus one line for exclusive maya guests
Check out was much the same
Beds were hard, pillows small and soft
Food was mediocre- the pool bar had fantastic burger but the cooks would only cater to Spanish speaking folks, if your white or speak English your choice was a hot dog or burger , even though there was 6 items on the menu
Pool was nice but very small for the size of the resort
Adult pool still had children at it
The zen area was nice
The staff were ok but by no means welcoming- you did not get a warm fuzzy feeling
Beach was great
Check they tried to put 3 people into a king size bed only [Details]
Excellent Family or Multifamily Resort
Very good, perfect value for money
Pretty good stay at the Viva Maya
[Details]
Wonderful hotel and vacation!
