Although this resort was undergoing many renovations during our stay it did not affect us that much. One activity pool was closed as well and the one lobby and buffet and sports bar but there was still another activity pool, quite pool, lazy river, many bars, theater show at night, another lobby and buffet. There was a beach bar that had lunch everyday, a health bar where you could get smoothies or energy shots. The beach was amazing. Some areas were rocky but there were spots where you didn't need water shoes. It was great for snorkeling. The resort is large and so much to see...so much wildlife. It's a must if you love nature and want to be surrounded by lush gardens and trees. Everything was in walking distance however they do have shuttles to get you around if you didn't want to walk. Staff is very friendly. Loved it! Diego and Cristoffer were the best concierge team! [Details]

Room does not have a welcoming vibe to it!
Clean etc, but far from cozy, displaying a welcome comforting appeal.
With families, should be 2 queen beds.
As well the coach took over 3 hours, from the airport to get to the resort. We're not made aware of this prior to booking. We took a private shuttle back to the airport, half the time. Facets in tub, very poor water pressure! [Details]

Multiple small issues brought down the stay

Overall the resort presents really well - lots of pools, bars and activities. It's big, which is both a good thing and a potential inconvenience depending on what you're looking for - but definitely lots of activities for the family.

It was the small things that brought the visit down for us. We stayed 3 days & nights, and 2 of those evenings were spent chasing either room service (for a dinner order that they forgot) or housekeeping (for bottled drinking water that they hadn't restocked during the daily room cleaning routine). In each case, I had to call several times (kid needed to eat, and we needed drinking water) and staff weren't too helpful.

Everyone forgets stuff, and individually each incident wouldn't have been a thing. But when they happened on back to back evenings (2 out of our 3 nights) and no staff seemed to take ownership of the issue, it got annoying enough to detract from the rest of the stay.

And then on the morning of our last day, maintenance were repairing (drilling, dropping heavy items, talking loudly with each other) the room beside us and the room across from us - not conducive to sleeping in, which my teen kids were attempting to do.

So, I'm disappointed. The website presented the resort really well and I was really looking forward to the stay with my 2 kids, but the lack of ownership of the 2 issues put a damper on my experience. The noise from the construction was icing on the cake. [Details]

This hotel was awesome, plenty of drinks and great food selection at the buffet. Marcelino at the buffet made our experience even better with a smile and fantastic service!
Sergio was an amazing driver on one of the carts, gave us great advice on traveling out side the resort, wonderful gentlemen!
We stayed at 2409 and our concierge were unreal, they helped us with so many thing from getting into restaurants last minute, lost keys finding our way around and traveling off Resort to coda thier names were Jared, icela and Eddie and I will forever be greatful for thier service.
These people above made our trip! If it wasn't for the smiling faces and willingness to help at any moment it would not have been the same, Thank you from the bottom of my hart you will never know how bad we need this holiday and needed you! Thank you! [Details]

I would rate this hotel at a 3 star level. Rooms are comfortable, but not always cleaned daily. There are a number of pools to choose from which is a bonus, as well as the ability to swim in the sea.
The selection of restaurants is bonus but avoid the Italian Restaurant at all costs - poor service and substandard food.
Nightly entertainment is provided but they do have the sound volume is far too loud to understand the MC or performers which spoils the show. [Details]

Good hotel, marred by the heat

We're almost at mid point of our 1 week vacation at this resort. The resort itself is nice, the pools are aplenty and the food and drinks are always close by. There is bar service at the pool, which is great. There's a lot of wildlife across the resort which is always fun to watch. There is strong Wi-Fi everywhere which is a nice plus.

Now for the negative points:
All the restaurants and buffets, basically any closed area other than your room is NOT air conditioned. This causes severe issues as when it gets hot, there is no respite (32 degrees Celsius feeling like 38). The pools also get VERY WARM. I'm not sure if there is any cooling in them. We got so hot on our day 1 that we suffered a minor sunstroke (we are in our early 30s and healthy). I'm not sure why the buffets etc are not cooled, maybe it's to save a couple of bucks? All in all, we will not be returning to this resort again. [Details]

Staff are amazing! In particular, our concierge Chaco was phenomenal and truly saved us with all the planning he did for us! As well, Hugo from the sports bar was knowledgeable and very friendly. We thank you all though for the wonderful hospitality!
The weak points
The WiFi keeps dropping off consistently no matter where you are in the resort. If we are to use your app, then it doesn't really help we cannot access it. As well, our room didn't have any shampoo nor soap until we asked for it.

Fabulous Stay !

Check in was quick and easy, they offered delicious cocktails in line while we waited which was nice because it was so hot. Driven to our room with our bags. The room was amazing, very spacious and the jet tub bath and waterfall shower were awesome. Life saving air conditioning. Didn't pay extra for a view but the balcony was still nice. The maids came multiple times a day and did a lovely job; make sure to put do not disturb if you intend to sleep past 9. Amazing wifi everywhere you go. The buffet blew my mind- I am not an adventurous eater and my partner has dietary restrictions and we only struggled one lunch to fill our plates - which was fine because there is a snack bar on the beach. Top quality buffet. A la carts were a bit messier. We were told to book with our concierge, and he told us he'd email confirmations. A few days passed and nothing. Went to check in with him and there seemed to be an error. In the end was only able to get one of three. The steakhouse. Which wow, the food and service was top notch. It's open air though so a little too hot in the building (also the ceiling fans create a strobe effect with ceiling light which made us a bit woozy.) the pools are crystal clear and lots of fun (there's even a quieter pool with a juice bar if you're looking for a little peace). The lazy river is amazing, probably our favourite part of the resort. Sometimes people would be waiting for tubs, but honestly it's better without a tube. You would see lots of Coutis and lizards and birds as you gently float around the resort. Unfortunately the beach is plagued by the seaweed bloom. The staff were hard at work cleaning it, but some days the beach was just not doable. When the seaweed was clear enough for swimming the little beach between the two bigs ones is the most fun. Big schools of fish that aren't very afraid of people. But stay off the rocks! Lots of sea urchins. The resorts entertainment staff have big personalities and are lots of fun, you pretty much get free stand up comedy by the party pool, the games are silly and theres always something going on. Booking an excursion at the excursion desk was fast and informative. Lots of options. All in all we were very pleased with our vacation and would be happy to recommend this resort to family and friends. [Details]

I really enjoyed the hotel as a regular tourist. Even though I was a member, I chose to booked with a friend through a travel agency for convenience.

I figured since I was a member already, the hotel would accommodate. To my surprise, being a member is not that much in their eyes. If I wanted my membership rights, I needed to pay for them....(on top of what I already paid).

We really enjoyed our stay at the resort. There were three different pools which each offered different atmospheres. The lazy river was a nice quiet retreat when we needed a break or some down time. Snorkelling at the beach was amazing. So many different kinds of fish to see. The food was excellent and plentiful. Lots of different bars and wait staff were constantly coming to see if we needed anything. We also enjoyed the spa one day, where our girls (aged 9 and 12) had chocolate massages and facials. This resort is popular with Canadians. It's a large resort about 90 minutes from the airport. There are rumors that a second airport may be built near Tulum. This would shorten the commute to the resort. Not mobility accessible.. Some people prearranged scooters through a rental place. There were passengers trams from your room to your destination in the resort but they had to arranged in advance through the bellboy. There were also trams that ran regularly around the edge of the resort. A la Carte restaurants were varied and the food was generally good. Lots of activities for adults and children. Excellent drinks and service at the Tequila bar. Went there every evening. It was right across from the theater. Good variety of shows at the theater. [Details]

The Grand Sirenis was definitely not a 4.5 star resort. All and all we had a decent time. We were really disappointed in the food. We expected better. The hotel Ec Chan was really run down (sink plugged, shower didn't work, jet tub took a hour to fill, door hand and peep hole fell out, plug in receptacles were hanging out of wall, it took two of us to slide open and close the Sun deck door, room smelt bad too). Some staff were friendly. The resort was actually kept up nice and clean. Just saying the way it was. I'd rate this resort 3/5 star. [Details]

The hotel itself is huge and the pools are endless, be prepared to get your steps in, not a bad thing on vacation.
You never have to wait or reserve a chair which is nice. If you are looking for that white sand beach to walk on for miles, this isn't the resort. You will need water shoes as it's very rocky.
The food is ok, a lot of times it's not labelled or incorrectly labelled (don't eat the sushi or cold meats). There are no hand sanitizers dispensers in the buffet area and in most bathrooms only one dispenser had soap.

The room we stayed in was good, spacious, clean, we had to change rooms as the original room was not up to par, could use a little TLC.

If you are making an a la carte reservation make sure they take a picture of the confirmation with your concierge as they don't always email and we had a big mix up for our party of 14. Thankfully they helped us but we couldn't sit together as they had no record of the reservation. Minor issues but nothing major. The app doesn't work so avoid that and go straight to concierge. Beach, hospitality and wildlife were all great. The pools were clean and the was a choice between the busy ones and the quiet ones. The rooms were large and clean. The concierge was available until late into the evening and was very helpful.

What an amazing vacation from check in to check out we were impressed with the service around the resort. Every staff member was kind, thoughtful and went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. We enjoyed the food at the buffet, daily breakfast mimosas, lunchtime burgers, the coffee/ice cream shop and the experience at the Brazilian a la carte restaurant. The shows were ok nothing that I didn't mind missing when my reservation overlapped. The pools were great with lots of activities and the lazy river cannot be missed we made sure to go at least 3 times every day. The room was quite large and clean. The bathrooms were fine - we did enjoy the waterfall shower head. The resort is quite big and spread out and it took us a few days to get to know where everything was, so explore and see where pathways go because often we didn't find out until way later an easier way to get somewhere. There are lots of lizards, coatis, monkeys and other wild life around it was nice to look for them (watch those coatis they are crazy around the garbages after lunch and will steal your pizza boxes) Make sure you check out the free dolphin show and the foam party. We were really sad that there wasn't a fire show the week we were there. [Details]

The food was a big disappointment almost everything was undercooked at the buffet and at the La carte the food was average . The other thing that was bothersome was the attitude of the people working there they seemed angry and totally not happy and did I not want to help you or be bothered . This hotel was massive, & there was something for everyone at this resort. From the wonderful and friendly staff, to the numerous options available for feasting, not to mention the coffee shop & ice cream bar. The wildlife & the pools were amazing. I have been to Mexico 8 times and I would say this resort is definitely my top 3.
