My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay at VIM. The resort was everything we expected... the property was lush and tropical - not your typical concrete jungle like many other AI properties. Hotel rooms were well hidden from the pools and beach. We chose this resort for its reputation for food and entertainment. It did not disappoint. All of the restaurants provided excellent food and wonderful service. Entertainment during both day and evenings was high quality. All staff were warm and friendly. The resort never felt crowded and was very serene. Would have given 5 stars if not for the severe chair hog issues at the main pool.

Great place overall, solid food from the buffet and snack bar. Restaurants provided a great elevated experience. Adults only resort with dedicated adults only beach area.

Excellent family experience, especially at the Palace location where there was better & more food selection and better pool areas. The whole resort is massive and very well laid out

Our experience at the Barceló Riviera Maya AO resort was overall very good! We opted to pay for a swim out room which included the premium upgrade. We enjoyed the swim out daily however, due to the resort's orientation the swim outs loses the sun around noon. One of the perks of the premium upgrade was daily access to the hydrotherapy spa (in the main part of the resort). We ended up using the facility daily, after a workout. As the hydrotherapy is included with any spa treatment, we enjoyed booking either early mornings or late afternoons to avoid the crowds. The premium lounge also offered a small buffet section which we thoroughly enjoyed both from the food perspective and the welcoming staff. The resort is incredibly clean! We didn't notice any issues at all. The housekeeping was on point and the public bathrooms were very well kept. The restaurants were also great! We thoroughly enjoyed the Italian (their carbonara was delicious!) but some of the food items on the other restaurants were a bit off (do not order the Beef Wellington at the French!).

We stayed at this resort from Thursday, February 19 to Thursday, February 26. We were in a deluxe junior suite room. It was adequate for our needs. King size bed was comfortable and the double shower was always hot and awesome. The bar was stocked every day and fresh towels left. There were a few aesthetic things that could have been better such as the rusting on the bathroom mirrors and the overall lighting in the bathroom but all in all it was a pretty good room. The party pool was loud and a lot of fun for a couple of days, but became too crowded and noisy after about our third day. We moved onto the quiet pool at the other end near the beach and that was very nice. The food was excellent. The only complaint I have is trying to book reservations as none of the restaurants took reservations, so you had to stand in line to get in. One night we waited for over an hour to get into the restaurant. Having said that, we travelled with a party of eight so that made things a little more challenging when it came to seating. Most of the staff were friendly and accommodating to our needs. Entertainment was good, especially the 70s 80s rock band. The food at the beach was also very good, but the beach itself was pretty small and there was a lot of seaweed when we were there.I would give this resort an overall rating of 4.5.

My family and I visited grand sunset princess for 7 days in February. This resort was one of the best places we have ever visited. Starting off, the staff was incredible. The service was 11/10, every single worker deserves credit for making our time so memorable. Specifically Lorenzo Poot, at the snack sunset buffet was amazing. He was so kind, took care of our family every breakfast and was ontop of his service. He made every meal enjoyable. The food was also top-tier. The entire resort was spotless. Overall this resort was one you have to visit when going to Cancún Mexico.

It was a very nice family resort. Very clean, the staff was excellent, food was good. Entertainment/activities were fun. Very large resort. Trolleys were frequent if you didn't want to walk. 3 pools (activity, quiet, and family plus a waterpark – which was great for kids, not teens) Getting shade was sometimes a challenge but there were always places to sit. Quite a few shops.. Always food available somewhere. The beach was so so. Not the resorts fault –The sargassum came early and there were some rocks. Need water shoes. Only one downside – for a one week stay you are limited to 3 ala carte dinners. We were allowed 4 for our 11 night stay. We were not able to get a reservation for the first week of our trip. So for the first 7 nights, it was buffet every night. 7 people in our party only stayed 1 week so they did not get any ala carte dinners. Apparently, if you go through a check-in process on their app in advance of your trip you can reserve your dinners 10 days before your trip starts.

Overall I would not visit this property again. Food was not good. Widespread food safety and Hygiene concerns as many people were getting GI issues (throwing up and diarhea) this did not happen when we attended a higher end resort in Cabo a month prior.

The resort was nice and what you would expect from a Riu. Unfortunately, we were disappointed in the variety of food in the buffet and both my husband and I fell ill with food poisoning, and heard of several others who had same and apparently there is no room service at this resort so no one could bring us anything to help. Staff was nice, beach was nice, Spa was lovely, but won't go again.
