We stayed at this resort from Thursday, February 19 to Thursday, February 26. We were in a deluxe junior suite room. It was adequate for our needs. King size bed was comfortable and the double shower was always hot and awesome. The bar was stocked every day and fresh towels left. There were a few aesthetic things that could have been better such as the rusting on the bathroom mirrors and the overall lighting in the bathroom but all in all it was a pretty good room. The party pool was loud and a lot of fun for a couple of days, but became too crowded and noisy after about our third day. We moved onto the quiet pool at the other end near the beach and that was very nice. The food was excellent. The only complaint I have is trying to book reservations as none of the restaurants took reservations, so you had to stand in line to get in. One night we waited for over an hour to get into the restaurant. Having said that, we travelled with a party of eight so that made things a little more challenging when it came to seating. Most of the staff were friendly and accommodating to our needs. Entertainment was good, especially the 70s 80s rock band. The food at the beach was also very good, but the beach itself was pretty small and there was a lot of seaweed when we were there.I would give this resort an overall rating of 4.5. [Details]

Took a much-needed sibling vacation in Feb 2026! Booked a two-bed suite for a 7-day, 6-night stay at PLATINUM YUCATAN PRINCESS. Overall, we had a lovely trip, but if we could do it again, we would not stay here. Things we loved: the long stretch of quiet beach (strong winds brought in seaweed, but staff worked hard to remove it) and just down the way was the site's sister resort, which had a lovely sandbar for swimming. The sister resort also had a beautiful atmosphere around the pool and a fantastic snack bar. Even though we booked the adult-only resort, we ended up spending a lot of time at the under-construction kid-friendly sister resort, which was a way better vibe than our actual resort. We also loved the French restaurant (sadly, it's closed every other day). The drinks were strong, and the staff in general were friendly but not necessarily helpful. Also, the free internet was pretty good but it did require you to consent to significant tracking. Things we loved less: There are 14 pools, but no central hangout, as they are almost all along the entrance to people's rooms. Rooms were older and in need of some care. Also, we booked a two-bed room, but they put us in a room with one king bed, which we ended up sharing the whole week, and every time we asked to move to a room with two beds, they would say no rooms available, and even though we booked two beds, it was based on availability. When we would go ask in the mornings, we were regularly brushed off and told not till Tuesday at the earliest (we arrived on Friday), and eventually we just gave up. There was a couch with a pullout bed, but it was flat, and when I lifted the plastic cushion, it was filthy. On the night of our arrival, it was late (after 1 am by the time we got to our room), and we asked for bedding for the pullout couch, and the answer was not tonight. This would be indicative of our service experience at the resort: 2 hours of anything sent to the room, refusal to provide more than one beach towel per person (sister resort had them stacked beside the beach, and we had to wander around asking housekeeping to exchange our old, sandy ones from the day before), and having to ask multiple times for any information. Staff were friendly, but it felt like our presence was a burden, so we tipped well those we interacted with and avoided staff when possible. Also, the resort had an app but it provided no helpful information or had any functionality for our stay. Lastly, we were informed of a sports centre, but no further details were provided, so on the last day, we walked to the front of the resort to take a look (there is a golf cart, but it was at least a 10-minute wait as it was on a schedule not visible to patrons). The resort itself is very spread out so be prepared to do a lot of walking. What we found was a crumbling infrastructure with lots of amenities like paddleboarding, yoga, shooting range, batting cages and a golfing space, but none of this was advertised to guests, and almost no one was using any of these amenities. It really felt like a reflection of what this place must have been like in its prime, but there was a sense of shame in how it was now. Overall, I wouldn't go back, but if you don't mind a bit of construction and kids, the sister resort might be worth a visit. [Details]

Great resort ! When we arrived we were set up in building 1. That building is the quietest if you prefer that. We found it too far away from quiet pool, restaurants ,beach. Moved to building 4 which was in the middle of the resort. Beautiful rooms, great food and awesome hospitality. Biggest issue was beach was covered in seaweed which there was a huge bloom and hard to control. The workers would spend all day combing the beach. The sister resort was walkable vis the beach where it was not affected. Didn't stop us from enjoying time around the multiple pools at the Yucatan resort. Fun vacation. [Details]

Not worth the Cost

I would recommend staying at the next door property Grand Riviera Princess over upgrading to the Platinum Yucatan, it was not worth the additional expenses, the food was no better. The entertainment, staff, beach, and pools were superior at the Grand Riviera. I stayed at the Platinum Yucatan expecting a superior experience after having an amazing experience at the Grand Riviera Princess, unfortunately this did not happen. When I brought forward two concerns to concierge excuses were made and my concerns were brushed off. The staff is not honest about the additional cost of items and additional cost for what is supposed to be an enhanced experience (Rodeo Grill) was extremely disappointing. Entertainment was very disappointing (fire show only one worth staying up). Concierge rude/dismissive when concern brought forward. Dishonest about additional costs (champagne to room $), upgrades (Rodeo Grill $) definitely not worth it.

We never get a room in the block that we ask for when we make a reservation well in advance. Our first room had a strong smell of mould so we asked to be moved. They placed us way in the back of the resort like they were punishing us. Then our toilet flooded the room. The toilet leaked water all over the room. Which makes the floor extremely slippery. Thankfully we didn't slip. They did fix the toilet. They no longer have food pool side for lunch. We can only get lunch at the buffet or down at the ocean hut. They do now bring you pool towels every morning when they clean your rooms. The staff are very friendly. [Details]

Me and my girlfriend had a great time! I was very nervous about the food options as I have celiac disease, but the resort did a great job accommodating me. At the hibachi place I was given my own plate so I knew there was no risk of cross contamination but could still participate in the hibachi fun. They also asked before hand at the restaurants if anyone had any food allergies making me feel reassured they knew how to handle my food! The entertainment team did a great job putting on performances and created fun games at the poolside. Special shout out to Hollywood, Gordon Ramsey, Leonardo Dicaprio and the girls (I am sorry I only remember Lunas name) for making us feel safe and included and also letting us be our crazy authentic selfs. Definitely would love to come back to this resort and would recommend to friends and family! [Details]

We have been going to this hotel for the last 7 years or so, and will continue to do so. This all adult resort is the perfect size for us. Not too big, not too small. The rooms are very big. We always get the swim-up and the same room. We have gotten to know the people at this resort and they know us as well, always welcoming us back. We feel very comfortable here and safe. Only 9 miles from Play Del Carmen and a shuttle to take you there if you want. About a 35 minute drive from Cancun Airport. [Details]

Cleanliness throughout, an excellent room with everything working, good and friendly service, good food and variety, premium drinks, clean swim out pools, you can always find a shade on the beach.
The weak points
The ocean is not for swimming at all and not even for bathing because of the rocks, which are small and big. It's a shame that such a beautiful resort does not offer enjoying the ocean water, which was the only reason we went there.

From my point of view, the Platinum Yucatan Princess is an exceptional resort. Great food, outstanding service, and perfect customer care made the stay unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty, whether at reception, through room service, or in the restaurants and bars.

The friendly atmosphere, great weather, beautiful beach, and tremendous pools all added to the experience. However, the main pool cement pad could use some improvement—it's very hard on bare feet. Despite that, I would still recommend this resort to everyone and give it a five-star rating. We met people who have visited five times, and we would definitely return ourselves. Great value and beautiful grounds

The staff are amazing - helpful and friendly.
The food is excellent - a massive variety and the a la carte restaurants require no reservations with the exception of the Teppanyaki.
The rooms are large and bright and comfortable.

The strong points
Attentive service throughout the vacation. The wildlife is interesting and entertaining. Great location - only 45 minutes from the airport. The food was fantastic with very few exceptions. The entertainment/show crew were the best I've ever seen.
The weak points
The beach situation is weak and the swimming is unlikely without water shoes. The drinks are often disappointing, despite promoting international beverages. The sports park is tired and neglected

The hotel was beautiful. All staff, including cleaning staff, event staff, bar staff, restaurant staff, everyone, was very friendly and welcoming. The food was very good. The entertainment was wonderful. The swim up bar (there was two but we only ever used one), was great! Lots of activities to participate in. [Details]

The nightly entertainment was wonderful.
The weak points
The beach was very small and overgrown with vegetation. We didn't use the beach at all.

Some of the staff were really friendly but most of the time it seemed like they were maybe overworked and underpaid and didn't have the energy to smile or provide outstanding service. The hotel is getting old and must be a lot of work to keep looking nice. The gym equipment is basic but not good quality. The beach is rough, the best thing to do is to walk down the beach to a different resort. The food was fine but not excellent. The entertainment staff are awesome. Nice hotel, close to Playa del Carmen but I would never stay there again. [Details]
