Our stay in the hotel

, Ottawa, ON
2023-03-08
We spent the first two weeks of February 2023 at the Playacar Palace, Phase I. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay. The all-inclusive hotel is very comfortable, well-kept, and right on the ocean. It is located close to the famous Avenida Quinta and the ferry to the Isla Cozumel. Our room was very comfortable with a balcony overlooking the magnificent pool and the ocean. The service is impeccable. The friendly and numerous personnel is always ready to help, particularly at the reception desk. The food at the buffet and the three restaurants is exceptional, the best we ever had in similar hotels. We enjoyed the various diversified nightly shows presented. We swam in the warm ocean every day despite the presence of algae which, some days, covered the sand in front of the hotel. We would, nevertheless, like to mention the problem we had to find a lounge chair on the hotel premises or on the beach. They were usually always reserved for a certain clientele or by guests who, early morning, deposited their towel. We had a very good time and have no hesitation to recommend this very nice hotel. Great experience

My wife and I took this trip with our two older teenaged children and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The resort was just the right size (not too big and not too small), the service was excellent, facilities were fantastic and location was great. [Details]

Relaxing and Fun

, Pickering, ON

Our vacation at the Playacar Palace was awesome for a variety of reasons. If you are looking for a smaller resort, this is it. Everything is very handy, you don't have to walk a mile for dinner or the beach. We had an upgraded room, very nice. All rooms have an ocean view. The food at the buffet was excellent. The Italian Restaurant was nice, presentation was A1. We recommend the Lobster dinner on the beach. There is only one pool, but we never had a problem finding loungers. The beach and ocean are beautiful. The pool waitresses work hard delivering drinks out onto the beach. Perla was my favorite waitress. Never any pressure to tip, its up to you, but you can tell they appreciate it. A very clean resort with top quality and friendly service. We would definitely go back or try another palace resort. We visited the Cozumel Palace, nice, but no beach. The area seemed safe, we had no troubles. You can walk to Playa Del Carmen for shopping. Overall our vacation was great. We had a blast! [Details]

The strong points
The Mayan people can't do enough for you. I think their friendliness alone made our vacation!
The weak points
I don't have anything negative to say about this place. If I had to be picky, the music by the pool bar is outdated, and we didn't like the pasta. It's just different from what we are used to. Neither of these things effected our stay.

Amazing

This hotel was absolutely worth every penny! The Beach was phenomenal, the food was to die for. It wasn't over crowded and we didn't have to walk for miles to get where we needed to go. The staff were do quick and pleasant with every and any request. 5th ave is in "your back yard". We felt safe no matter what time on and off the resort. It was truly an amazing experience. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone! [Details]

The service, location, rooms and pool area were fantastic! And surprisingly, the sushi at the asian restaurant was really good! The Mexican restaurant was also very good (but we expected that).
The weak points
The Italian restaurant wasn't very good.

Wonderful staff, great hotel

Lovely resort, wonderful staff. Steps from 5th Ave Playa del Carmen and all of its restaurants, silver and charms. The bar is nice to relax at and the margaritas are incredible- there are no better to be had in all of Mexico. Room service and long distance calling in N.A. are included if you need to check up on loved ones back home. Also included is the use of other Palace resorts in the area, we ferried across to Cozumel to the Palace there, and had lunch and then snorkeled (they give fresh new equipement to each person every time) we went just by flashing our Palace resort bracelet- all included. Several included day trips with this resort as well- e.g. to Tulum or Coba. Lovely pool and poolside service. Nice area (in the opposite direction of the town) to go for walks nearby as well- and for runs. There is a bird sanctuary nearby (but $$$ to get in). Access to a tennis court as well- and of course the staff at the Palace give you rackets and tennis balls. Did I mention the home made icecream, the fresh grilled salmon, the carrot juice for breakfast? Yum. [Details]

The strong points
Steps from 5th Ave Playa del Carmen shops bars and restaurants, yet quiet and lovely hotel with the most wonderful staff possible. Huge platefulls of fruit for breakfast, home made ice cream that was amazing, very good food. Super clean resort.
The weak points
Can t access beach directly from hotel, though it is right on the ocean. Erosion of the beaches over time has required a sea wall. Can still get to a beach though.
