Surprise Escapes

Beautiful rooms, amazing food choice. For us we didn't realize how far it was away from the main strip - about 5km off main road to get to resort. Beautiful facilities and welcoming staff. We wanted something that felt a little more like Mexico and we thought it was adults only but unfortunately just one half of the resort is. Lots of children and families. Would recommend to anyone just looking to get away for some good food, amazing bar drinks and sunshine but not looking to get off the resort for much. Tulum took about 2.5-3 hours after picking everyone else us at their resorts and playa Del Carmen was about half an hour drive. [Details]

Overall the resort is beautiful, however I felt I was deceived by the fact it was advertised as an adults only resort. It is a portion of the resort that is designated as adults only with only one restaurant for adults. All other restaurants are with kids!! The adults only restaurant was also closed for two days while we were there. When we arrived we were greeted by a representative who we thought was for Hideaway but in reality was the time share salesperson. When booking we thought there were five resorts we were possibly going to. After arriving at the Hideaway at Royalton and finding out it was owned by Sunwing we believe we were always gong to the Royalton!
