Great for families

, Keswick, ON
2014-02-12
I spent 2 weeks at this resort from late January-early February, 2014. The hotel offers 250 rooms built into terraces on a hill overlooking a great beach and the Pacific. The strength of the resort is its staff: Jorge (George), Customer Service Manager, will work hard to make your stay enjoyable and address any concerns. I was most impressed by his acumen, professionalism and congeniality.
The resort is built around a pirate theme. There is a pirate ship with slides and water cannons in a pool at the top level, a zip line, 2 tennis courts, a miniputt green, lots of activities, and a great beach across the street. The food was excellent, there are many nearby restaurants and bars within walking distance if you wish to leave the resort, and even a very modern Walmart 5 kms away!
This play is ideal for families with small children, and for those who wish to interact with the friendly Mexican families who constitute the majority of the guests. The airport is only 25 kms away. [Details]

The strong points
The staff, the customer service manager, the food (variety and quality) and the beach (a 5 km stretch of clean sand). Excellent chance to meet Mexican families.
The weak points
Some of the rooms do not have safes and are in need of renovation. It can get very noisy near the main pool as can the dinner service.

A True Mexican Vacation

, Chilliwack, BC
2014-02-05
We stayed at Vista Playa De Oro Jan 12-19 2014.
The Resort is older and could use some renos and updating. But the service and staff definitely make up for that. The resort will grow on you!!
Jorge Ramos is the go to guy,he helped us change rooms. He is the most helpful individual we ever met on our mexican vacations (9) It is obvious this man loves his job. The Beach across the street is FANTASTIC, rated best beach in Manzanillo. You can walk for hours, nice waves and the water is warm. Beer was always cold. Food was basic but good. They have theme nights, we enjoyed the one with the set-up around the pool the most.Rooms are clean, beds and pillows are hard.
Lots of Mexican families stay here, wich made this resort even more authenic
The Mexican people are very friendly!! If you are looking for a true mexican experience stay here. We had a wonderful time and will stay here again!! [Details]

I have been to this resort previously, and was even more impressed this trip. A real true Mexican experience is what you can expect, and if that is what you are looking for you will not be disappointed! [Details]

Great vacation!

If you want a clean, comfortable hotel with a great beach, you won't be disappointed. We had a wonderful relaxing week. The staff went above and beyond. The food was excellent, and the beer was cold. Most of the hotel guests were Mexicans which we really like. This was my 4th trip to Manzanillo and I have loved them all. It is a great hotel for kids as well as there is much for them to do. You can't beat the price, and if you want to go off the resort to eat, that is inexpensive as well. I highly recommend this "cheap and cheerful" vacation package.
On a side note, I would like to mention the issue of guests bringing their own glasses to the bar for refills rather than using the plastic ones provided by the hotel. I wish all all-inclusives would put an end to this practice as it is very unsanitary especially in light of H1N1, and it also creates extra work for already over-worked bartenders by having to fill unnecessarily huge glasses.
