this was our first all inclusive trip in 20 years (we have been to 33 countries so travel a lot). The resort was lovely and it was great to have reciprocal with the Cornwall resort next door. The room was large and although the decor and bathroom was dated, it was kept clean. We did not have any problem with hot water or pressure, we were on the 2nd floor. The food in the restaurants was very good and lots of it. There were 3 pools that were very clean and a lovely beach area at each resort. You can find lots of tours at the desk in the lobby. There are guest activities on an ongoing basis and good shows in the evening. We enjoyed our stay here. [Details]

The staff, for the most part, were excellent. Friendly, fun and professional. The bed was excellent! I had a back injury in the summer and was concerned but there was no need.
The weak points
We were in the rooms that overlooked the pool with the swim up bar and the music started (very loudly) at 10 am and went steady until 5 pm. There was only one kind of beer and, at time, they ran out and there was only draft available.

My experience was not all that wonderful. We really never enjoy our vacation at the hotel because the room accomdation was disgusting. Room odour smells disgusting. Washroom also carry the same disgusting odours. When we were leaving a front desk clerk asked me if I enjoy my stay, I shook my shoulder she replied the room. The ocean view was spectacular I really enjoy looking out across the ocean. The ocean have great entertainment crossing daily. The sunrises and sunsets are unique.
The weak points
The Grand Decameron Montego Bay hotel need to close business on that side and do a lot of renovation. Room need more air freshener. Not even face towels or hands towels to dry wet hands. No cleanex if your nostrils run or you have a cold or cough.

The hotel was OK overall. The food was OK at best, but pretty average at the restaurants. The TV was enjoyable despite most of the channels being in Spanish. I have been coming to this resort for many years and have visited at least 6 times, but had not been back in about 4 years. The service, cleanliness, food and overall demeanor have changed for the worst. The Cornwall beach side has taken over and it seems the montego beach side has been forgotten and uncared for. No towels in our room, septic leak in the washroom floor that stunk like sewage all week, no longer offer a fridge, blow dryer didn't work and nothing was addressed when front desk was called and said they send someone. No one came. Finally received towels, toiletries and a fridge only AFTER bumping into the housekeeping staff and tipping them personally. From that day forward we had towels and toiletries. There is essentially no beach left on the montego beach side either and had to go to the Cornwall side. No buffet for 4 out of the 7 days and no staff bothered to explain it was a la carte whilst wandering around the buffet area looking for food. Had to go on the road for food and spent a lot of money eating out, as the a la carte only offered a limited menu and we don't eat what they were sometimes offering. Overall, the worst travel experience I've had at a resort in Jamaica. Highly disappointed given the amount we paid and will not be returning to royal decameron [Details]

Check in and check out The check in was slow and unorganized. We were not handled with care. After waiting 3 hrs in immigration, we had to wait another 1h for our room. So we did not get into our room until 5pm. The elevator was not working as we were told, we were on the top floor. When checking out, our flight did not leave until 7pm. Asked the checkout our room one hour later, they told us 25US per person per hour.
Food The food was ok. The drinks were ok.
Staff The staff at this resort was not as friendly. However found some gems such as Kemar, he was an attentive server.
We got what we paid for I guess. It was not the best experience but it wasn't the worse. They need to be more client focus in my opinion. [Details]

My family has been coming here for the last 9 yrs or so. We even come more than once a year if possible.I know you are Jamaica but I think maybe there should be equal amounts of spicy food and not spicy food. My daughter and I had to stay up late one night so we could go get food from the grill and we got there around 11:15 and told us they were out of some of the toppings for burgers. I'm a single mom with 11 yr old son, the staff was beyond amazing with us. I was nervous at first being alone but was made to feel so safe and welcomed. I'd highly recommend the glass bottom boat, Captain Polly took us out and it was better then the excursion we went on. The renovations took away from the beauty a bit but the beaches and pool area were still lovely. The planes are a unique touch, the noise seems awful the first day but after that could barely hear them, just have to get used to it is all I think. We will definitely be back. :) [Details]

The hotel rooms could use a little paint but to me it wasn't a big thing as I did not intend on spending much time in there anyways. The entertainment staff, Jermaine, Kevin, sorry can't remember the other male (maybe Ray) and not to mention Skittles and Simone. They were totally awesome and very polite and gave myself and my cousin lots of laughs. Leon as MC is fantastic. The food to me was very good. A couple of things I personally didn't like but I'm fussy. But everything I ate was delicious. The Front desk staff was great and very knowledgeable. The bartenders; Langford, Christopher, and I believe her name is Elishia (Pool bar) fantastic. Now to mention the nightly entertainment. Loved it. Thank you all for a great time. Most of the former staff have moved on which is disappointing. I am a return guest for several years and things really seem to be falling apart there which is very disappointing. A la carte ran out of food twice in a week and we ate the same cheap buffet food all week long... What wasn't finished at supper was then served at breakfast.... When the grill finished an item they refused to go make more they told us there weren't enough guests. They cleared out the entire buffet one night while we were still seated eating..... No heads up...Our room smelt and there were bats rats and cockroaches this year :( They also now have catamarans that dock outside the room daily that blast really loud music... one pulling in after another........That all being said most of the staff are wonderful but some are terrible ( frank the bartender wouldnt even serve us). This wee resort is an absolute gem. Small enough that you can get to know the staff, in an excellent location to go exploring (hip strip)Montego Bay. This resort has a HUGE following on FB (go check it out!!), very laid back, and it is a solid 3.5* - not a ton of bells and whistles, but very quaint, clean and friendly. It was delicious. I preferred the buffet rather than the a la carte. My husband inititally did not want to go, but found that he loved it and wants to go every year. This was a great little hotel right on the Hip Strip. It has everything you would need. It's not very big and it's not a brand new hotel. What it is - Very clean, has a great location, amazing staff, Good drinks (the dirty banana is a MUST try) and fantastic food (be it from the buffet, a la carte or the snack bar). We were in room 324, which was a corner room overlooking both pools and had amazing sunsets. There is construction next door, however even as late into the night as they worked the noise never bothered us. The beach is nice and we were able to snorkel right off the boardwalk area and the beach. I had been to Jamaica once before on a cruise stop and hated it, after staying at the Royal Decameron, I am so glad I gave Jamaica another chance - loved it! We did the luminous lagoon tour too (booked before leaving YYZ) this is certainly worth it, what an amazing experience!! [Details]

Beach and the view from our room was outstanding. There are coral reefs close enough to snorkel from the beach. There was also a nice clear sandy area for swimming without the reef. Food was really good, lots of flavor and nice variety. Room was large with big balcony and very clean. Most staff were friendly and helpful. Bathroom in the hotel room was old and falling apart. Shower head was cheap, old and didn't spray water evenly. You only get 1 bottle of water in your room for the entire visit, so you have to seek the bar staff to fill your bottle with water and ice. The bar staff didn't seem to happy to do this. The internet worked well in the lobby but not in your room. However, we had read reviews and knew about the water and internet issues before we booked. If they could add a daily bottle of water, an ice machine, or a fridge in the room, it would solve the water problem. The internet, well, I didn't go to Jamaica to spend time on-line. Going to the lobby to check in with the family at home was fine for us. I would recommend this resort in the future after the new rooms have been built. [Details]

Our overall experience was great! The only comment I have is wifi and safe should be included in price. Staff were excellent for the most part however I had an issue with the towel cards as they made a mistake and tried to blame me. Not what it used to be
It was ok
The check in was slow and unorganized. We were not handled with care. After waiting 3 hrs in immigration, we had to wait another 1h for our room. So we did not get into our room until 5pm. The elevator was not working as we were told, we were on the top floor. When checking out, our flight did not leave until 7pm. Asked the checkout our room one hour later, they told us 25US per person per hour.
Food
The food was ok. The drinks were ok.
Staff
The staff at this resort was not as friendly. However found some gems such as Kemar, he was an attentive server.
We got what we paid for I guess. It was not the best experience but it wasn't the worse. They need to be more client focus in my opinion. [Details]

Family of 4 went for first time to Montego bay Jamaica
enjoyed each and every moments, weather, food Beach and had lots of with people around.
the only thing that neg. is the water at our showers (On & Off)(Hot & Cold) and not enough to get a good shower
also, at the bar there's Espresso & Cappuccino Machine ON YET nobody is there to serve the coffee in morning and when someone is around they say the bar is not open YET its will be open at 11:00am, while we are asking for Espressos not alcohol !!!! so if your and early morning person and would like to have a fresh espressos need to wait until 11am !!!!!!
other than that we loved everything and enjoyed every thing, special Thanks to Kyara and Latisha for your amazing service and the rest of the group they are all happy to service you at any time you ask. Defiantly will go back

Had an overall great time.

The resort is clean, fun and safe.
The service is really good especially the front desk.
The only bad experience that I had was with a lady server by the grill in the beach area other than that all was prefect.

Beautiful Jamaica
Bathroom in the hotel room was old and falling apart. Shower head was cheap, old and didn't spray water evenly. You only get 1 bottle of water in your room for the entire visit, so you have to seek the bar staff to fill your bottle with water and ice. The bar staff didn't seem to happy to do this. The internet worked well in the lobby but not in your room. However, we had read reviews and knew about the water and internet issues before we booked. If they could add a daily bottle of water, an ice machine, or a fridge in the room, it would solve the water problem. The internet, well, I didn't go to Jamaica to spend time on-line. Going to the lobby to check in with the family at home was fine for us.
I would recommend this resort in the future after the new rooms have been built. [Details]
