Cofresi Palm Beach resort and spa

This was not a great experience. We were not VIP guests, just standard rate. After specifically requesting a room with a king bed we were placed in a room with 2 queen beds. I had requested the room with a King bed at booking, 6 months prior to our trip, as well, I emailed the resort directly to ensure this was possible and asked at the front desk at check-in and was assured it was a standard king bed room. It wasn't. We were fortunate that we were able to move rooms a day later.
We struggled with hot water in our new room in that it took 20 - 30 minutes of running the water just to get it hot enough for a shower.
The resort is built on a hill and has too many stairs for people with mobility issues. The beach is small and you must reserve your spot early if you want a beach bed or lounge chair. The same goes with the pools. The beach and pool were both very dirty with debris floating in the water. The staff do clean the pools in the morning, but that is all. By afternoon when it is hot, you are swimming in dead bugs, bird droppings, leaves, etc. Expect the power to go out pretty much anytime it rains. We had this happen and when the power came back on, it started our coffee pot at 3am! Lots of noise from the hotel vehicles, motorcycles and golf carts at all hours, then there's the gas and exhaust fumes wafting into your room. The walls are very thin and you can hear lots of people talking. Whether it is next door or outside your room, expect to be woken up and be mindful of what you say. You are greeted with a welcome gift of 1 pepsi, 1 7up, 2 beers and some snacks. If you do not consume these within 2 days, the maids will take them. They do not restock the fridge. If you are outside when it rains, shelter is limited and is first come first served. No umbrellas in the room, you need to bring your own. You only get 1 hour of free wifi each day, but you can purchase a Dominican Sim card for your phone at the pharmacia. This is the best bet since they limit the wifi. Do not shop at the stores at the resort, they are a ripoff. They are overpriced and they will scam you if they know you are new to the resort. [Details]

Very nice room plus housekeeping and the majority of the staff were amazing. We got conned into their sales pitch disguised as a tour. Told there was no membership fee and when asked to pay the over $30,000 USD for a membership we said we weren't interested and got called liars. We could never get a hot shower in our room so I'm glad I upgraded for the hot tub. Plus it is obvious that the resort is not keeping up with maintenance as one of the pools had paint peeling away and my toilet needed fixing. [Details]

This resort has several blocks of buildings. After waiting unnecessarily long for check in as agents took as long as they possibly could, we were sent to 205, not good. No hot water, pool was not being kept up and the poolside bar was unmanned. Bathroom floor constantly wet, vanity around sink cracked everywhere and poorly caulked, sink had trouble draining. In order to get around this resort you must take a shuttle...which is pretty good, comes by about every 10 minutes but walking in some areas is difficult, many hills and stairs. We did go to guest services and they changed our room to block 202 which was a big improvement and better located, we used the Casablanca buffet which I found good and the staff there did their best, no complaints, there is also a quiet pool for adults that was well maintained with good king size mattressed palapas. Locals attend this hotel and that is where the trouble starts. The bar staff and the check in staff will actually call them forward ahead of those waiting in a Queue! We had a gang of locals going around setting off their stereos at doors in the middle of the night. They were staying in the adjacent room next to me. When I reported this at 5 a.m., security was eventually sent after two efforts who knew exactly which room they were in but looked at the complaining people coming out of their doors and walked away without doing a thing! The noise got even worse the minute they left and when I tried to contact reception they refused to pick up...this was 5 a.m., I doubt they had much to do up there. This completely ruined what could have been a nice vacation but the collusion of staff and security with rabble rousers deliberately antagonizing paying guests is totally unacceptable. If they do not address the maintenance issues and the poor behaviour and continue to treat paying guests as second class citizens I imagine they will soon be out of customers, we will certainly never be back there nor even in the Dominican Republic...it has left us with a very bad taste in our mouths. This is the third time we've stayed at this resort in the last 18 months. We always request a room that is not on the ground floor. This is for security reasons because we have had a ground floor room broken into and robbed in another resort in the Dominican Republic. Despite this request, we are always given a room on the ground floor. The first two times, we were immediately assigned another room. This time, however, we were told that there were no rooms available with the king-sized bed. The only one available had two twin-sized beds. Neither the front desk nor guest services have this request on record, resulting in much energy expended to get what we originally requested. The current occupancy of the hotel is extremely low and it should have been easy to get another room. It only took 5 days. The hotel blames the air carrier and the air carrier on the ground blames the hotel. 2. The Airline customers staying at this hotel get a second bracket (tan). The airline rep didn't know all the items these bracelets provided us. We had to ask guest services to learn (after the fact) that we get 15% off all Spa treatments. This would have been good to know before we dropped $440USD on the Spa as they would not do a refund and would only offer the dollar amount in other Spa services. The spa were very argumentative and originally did not want to honour the discount as it wasn't their job to advise us of discounts, this was the job of guest services. Very unprofessional. The room we were originally put in had cockroaches. The room we were moved into had a TV which wasn't fully functional. The VIP beach which we are supposedly able to access with our upgrade was indicated open by guest service and when we went down security stated it was closed The front desk will serve Dominicans always first before non-Dominicans [Details]

Lots of pools; bar areas to choose from. Beach is not huge but it was very clean and the sand in the ocean is soft and rock free. Loved the Bali beds by the beach. Lots of restaurants to choose from as well. The Anime team was excellent and there was always a contest for someone to enter. We were in block 202 which was excellent as the show are past the Tropical area and so is the bigger buffet at the Casablanca. The Pearl at the Cofresi was excellent for breakfast and much less busy and much quieter than the Casablanca. We enjoyed the bigger selection at the Casablanca for dinner. Beautiful grounds. Yes, not for people with mobility issues as there are lots of stairs, that being said, it was nice to have those since we ate so much. Drink mixes are not great but there was selections for other things. Huge resort when shared with the Lifestyles grounds/resorts. Too many choices. Couldn't see all of what Lifestyles had to offer and do it all in the 8 days we stayed at the Cofresi. Rooms are showing their age, however our rooms were always very clean and our housekeeper was excellent and very friendly. Hot water and pressure were an issue at busy times, however, it is a huge resort so I can see how they have issues with everyone having hot water before dinner time or early morning. Did not like all the people who stayed at the other timeshares who visited with their golf carts. They had no respect for guests walking on the walkways. It would be nice if speed bumps or gates were installed to slow them down. Also when there were many of them, the fumes were bad. I would go to this property again. Great price for what you get compared to other resorts I've been to. Love the mountain views and everything Puerto Plata had to offer. It was better than what I expected. Then again, as long as there is variety; it's clean and help is available when needed, that's what matters to me most. I would not recommend this property for someone will kids. Lots of stairs no matter where you want to go. Not easy to get around with strollers. The tropical is flatter for families. [Details]

Worst experience ever Cofresi
Saturday, March 11, we arrived at Cofresi resort. It had already been an extremely long morning as we needed to arrive at the airport for 4:30 am. The flight went fine and we were eventually all checked in at the resort by 3pm. We immediately got ready to head to the pool so we could try to squeeze in two hours of swim time before supper and getting to bed after a long travel day. Only, the getting to bed part proved to be the toughest challenge. My daughter felt something on her left arm, it was a worm. She killed it and thought it was just a fluke and it would only be one. Then, a few minutes later, there was something crawling on the side of her face as she tried to fall asleep for the second time, it was a worm. Again, she brushed it away. The third time she felt something on the right side of her and spring up because she was creeped out. As she lifted the blankets and looked at the sheets, there was tiny worm crawling around. She turned on her flash light and checked the bed my wife and I were sleeping in and found more worms. She immediately woke us up, told us what was going on and we sprung out of bed as well. My wife and I examined both beds and in fact saw exactly what she had mentioned, little worms and they were plentiful and alive. My daughter and I walked down to the front desk to request a new room. They said that was not a possibility because there was nothing available. Now that was a little hard to believe as the resort is big and there is not a huge quantity of people here. We then requested to have the room at least cleaned. After much back and fourth, the person at the front desk finally sent the cleaners up to resolve the problem.. or so we thought. When they arrived they made us exit the room and began spraying a highly fragranced chemical of some sort to fix the problem. They were told the issue was the worms in the bedding not bug flying in the air but they still continued to send us out of the room instead of trying to listen and understand. They were in the room for about a minute total, and didn't explain anything to us as they left. We were just told not to go in because of the smell. After twenty minutes, we went back in the room. You could not even breathe because of such heavy fumes AND there were still worms on the beds, ALIVE! My wife and daughter went back down to reception. They again asked for the room to be properly cleaned if there were no other rooms available. The receptionist made it seem like it was their fault it was not done properly the first time by saying it was their duty to tell the cleaners what needed to be done. Well for one, we tried to and they wouldn't listen. And for two, they were informed that the issue was with the bed and bedding. The receptionist said he would send someone to the room again to fix the issue. When the cleaners arrived they mopped the floors and said not to go in for twenty minutes. How does this fix the worms in the bed issue? Back to reception they went again and they were passed off to another gentleman who said they couldn't get the cleaners to change the bedding at that time because they were “off”. At this point in time, we're easily going on two hours of this nonsense. Not to mention, we were stuck outside because the fumes in the room are too much to bare while trying to breathe. My wife even asked for another bottle of water at the front desk and they told her that was not possible. At 11:50 pm, a man arrived to change the bedding. As he picked up a pillow and noticed a worm, he just shook it onto the floor. We attempted to contact the emergency number for our travel provider to see if could get any assistance and that proved to be of no help either. We were left sitting up all night waiting until we could join the welcoming meeting on the 12th to try to resolve the problem. In addition to the bugs in the beds, there was no hot water for showering and at times, not even enough water pressure for the shower to stay running. And while we're at it, there was no water or power on the evening of the 12th. Monday, March 13th, still no hot water, not enough water pressure to have the shower stay on and the power went again. Needless to say, it's been a trip from hell.
On Going Issues:
Front desk- ignorant and unwilling to provide any assistance. We constantly felt like a nuisance when trying to get assistance for issues. Eventually, we gave up requesting help and just attempted to solve the issues ourselves (ie., the leak in the entry way of our room). We were not the only people who felt this way. Almost every guest we spoke to said the same thing and had the same experience.
Odour- we were unable to have our patio door and window open in our room because of the horrific smell of sewage outside. This also left us unable to use the patio throughout the entire duration of our stay. Down right ridiculous.
Daily Issues:
On March 13th, the food at The Pearl buffet made me extremely ill. I was up throwing up and had diarrhea all night and throughout the entire day on the 14th. I lost an entire day of my vacation due to food being handled improperly and/or cooked improperly. Perhaps the name of the restaurant should be changed from “The Pearl” to “The Hurl” as numerous people were bed ridden.
On March 14th, a couple were taking a kayak out into the water and they were having difficulty because the waves were rough and crashing in to the shore quickly. The animation crew stood up top just watching and laughing while calling them idiots. I am assuming they didn't know guests were within ear shot of their conversation; however, it is no way to speak of someone who is paying to try to have a fun experience.
March 15th- Although the rain can not be helped and I fully understand that, my room had a massive puddle from the water draining in. When we returned from supper, we opened the door to find the entry way floor covered in water which began to run into the main area of the room. Unfortunately, personal belongings and carry on bags were completely soaked by the time we arrived back. We were left to take our shower towels to try to soak up the water and create a little blockade in the entry way to stop the water flow because the people at the front desk were of no assistance.
The above is not all of the issues but instead is a summary of some of my concerns.A lot of the issues were documented with photos by myself.
Not a very good impression.
We also want to include the issue of having no hot water for the entire trip. This was an issue that plagued the entire Cofresi resort.
I feel the 4 1/2 star rating your on this resort is misleading advertising. I have stayed at 3 star resorts in Cuba which had better accommodations and staff. This statement is echoed by many others who were at this resort [Details]

We have been travelling 2 times a year for 10 years and this trip was easily the worst trip we have ever encountered. This resort has got to be the most disgusting representation of customer service and take no accountability for the health and safety of their guests. Everyone on the resort was getting violently sick and have been for months prior and there is absolutely no responsibility taken by the resort of air transit. No hot water at all EVER, constant power outages, bathrooms are leaking and toilets clogged all the time. They don't attempt to address concerns at all. They don't care to take the extra time or consideration to place you with your family members or travel friends even though it was stated as a request within your reservation. I am not high maintenance, I've stayed in Cuba for years and have loved it, but this place has completely turned me off the DR forever. [Details]

Our 2 week vacation
Todd Downey, Milford, ON
2023-02-22
This was the first time we booked a 2 week stay and the price seemed right for our vacation. Upon arriving the hotel was very clean , approached with a welcome drink and waited to check in. They were very kind at check in. I do not speak Spanish and they did very well to explain the details of our stay. We had a porter take us via golf.cart to our room. Dropped us off took our luggage up to our floor , we tipped and he left. No explanation of our room at all. We've been to enough resorts that we figured out what needed ro be right away. We had a very clean room. Our cleaning lady was very thorough every day. Tipped her every day that we wanted to be cleaned , we didn't want a couple of days. Towels were fresh each day, but came later in the day due to supply . Now the negative of this room and speaking to .any others was the water. We had no hot water for our entire stay . A couple of days we had Luke warm. We reported it as did many others . They said let it run 5 minutes, we ran it sometimes for half an hour , what a waste of water, especially when some areas ran out of water . This to me should have been a priority fix in the entire resort. Some rooms had all hot water and little to no cold. This is not a worker problem , this is a owner/ manager problem straight to the top. You will lose many bookings if this is not fixed. The owners of this resort need to be mad aware of this right away. Next negative if you don't do your home work is there is stairs , stairs every where . Any person with issues in walking, doing stairs , or wheel chair person, this is not the resort for you. It does have ramps at some places but it's not an accessible.resort in my opinion and this needs to be stated in their web page. People with children and strollers I watched, they had to pick strollers up and carry up and down stairs . Not a friendly resort for this as well. Although they do have a neat children's area, and activity center . The resort is huge , and also has a shuttle.that runs 24/7 to take you to points of destination. This is a great tool as well. Too many people snagging chairs and papalas either late at night or first thing in the morning and hardly using them, while others are walking around aimlessly trying to find a chair just to enjoy the beach for a couple of hours while there. Some greedy people saved the papalas and many lounge chairs as well. This is sheer greed , and the resort needs to stop this . The beach was all sand, and beautiful, our favorite spot. The waters could be rough and the undertow could be strong at times. People were bowled over a few times . So be careful and watch your children.no water shoes are needed. No snorkeling their either , too rough and murky. The entertainment was not the greatest and they need to change it up . People are getting bored . The workers do the best they can with what they have to work with. The resort needs a 24 hour coffee/ snack bar near or in the lobby , this is a must . And they need to offer a daily fill of a pop or 2 in the rooms, along with more water bottles. Not just upon entering . The lobby also needs staff to go around and serve/ offer drinks to people sitting around in lobby and the outside area. Smoking needs to not happen in the lobby area, designate.an area please. The al le cart booking is an absolute joke! Only booking on Sundays??? And luck of the draw , to get some while there and waiting in line for 1 to2 hours . This is ridiculous. The food in the buffet was very good, and very clean . We enjoyed the food . Some of the people were accommodating and some didn't give you the time of day.. The resort was very loud all of the time until about 11 at night, then 6:30 in the morning it starts all over . Our room was near the road and alls we heard throughout the day was 2 stroke bikes , busses and dump trucks. Loud loud loud. Room was 304 building. They also drove crazy with their bikes and carts in the resort. If a child or someone wasn't watching they could be hit by these drivers. Please slow down. [Details]

The service at this hotel was very upsetting. When we arrived we waited 1 hour standing in line waiting to check in, only to find out our room was not ready or which room we were staying. Also they could not find our envelope with our information. Then we had to wait another hour in line to get our room. When we went to our room it was not what we reserved or what was on the website. We had reserved 1 king bed but was given 2 double beds. When I went downstairs to Guest Service, I explained the situation, and she advised me that they have to see if there is a room with a King size bed. I explained that what we reserved and what was posted on the website it is not what the room looks like. She apologize and said to come back tomorrow at 3 to change the room. Also, the room had no hot water. Guest Service advised that they will take care of that. The next day we went back at 3 and was advised that they was not room available. That is when my husband got mad and guess what, we were told again to come back tomorrow and we will get a new room. We still had no hot water and was showering with cold water. We were not the only ones complaining about the room or the not hot water. So here we are paying all this money and had no hot water or the room that was advertised. The food was substandard, fried balcony is not a substitute for bacon. [Details]

This resort is bigger than all other resorts that we have stayed in. A lot of stairs and uphill and downhill walking. I was disappointed in the beach. The tide was high, no chairs or palapas. Food was not bad. Room service would've been nice. There was no pool service, which was also disappointed. The room was outdated but it served its purpose. All in all, you get what you paid for. Suggestion - service desk needs to relocated and updated. Too much crowding. We were happy that we received bottled water every day. The resort was clean. Too bad, no free Wifi [Details]

This resort appears to be an older resort but was well maintained. Staff was wonderful from my first day on arrival till the day I left. There was absolutely no shortage of food or refreshments and loungers were never a problem. I went as a standard guest and was happy with everything. There is VIP available and it does offer up more perks. Personally I did not look into it for this trip but it may be something to look into in the future. This resort is very large, built on a hill. So if you have mobility issues, VIP does offer up golf carts. Otherwise there is a shuttle service available for basic transportation. There are plenty off pools and pool bars. You can spend your days either enjoying Cofresi resort or the sister resort the Tropical. If I would recommend one thing for this resort it would be that they need more umbrellas for shade at the pools near the lobby. It is difficult to find shade from the hot sun without having to go inside the lobby. [Details]

Well were do I start, let's see: Not a 4 star Not enough beds on beach (numberous moved to VIP section and fence moved to consume more beach area) Not as good flavor of food at buffet ( go to Casablanca @ tropical) shuttle takes you there in 5 min Most all entertainment is at tropical ( shuttle) Room did not have dressers You have to pay for safe Make sure you check sliding patio door ( ours did not have a pin to lock) or bring a 10 penny nail Hot water was almost nonexistent Rolling blackouts (don't both setting clock) Only 1-2 plugs in room for charging We just got back from the Lifestyle Tropical and this was by far our best stay If you go stay in newly updated buildings 5 or 6 There are a lot of beach beds there (some with curtains) They have a great sushi bar (zen) They bring you drinks They will bring you snacks (wings, panini, burgers, etc) This is the better of the two resorts Unless you pay for VIP at Cofresi So based on our trip in December 2019 and Jan 2020 Cofresi 3* Tropical 4*
Footnote: Bring $1 bill (US) they don't take luney's and exchange rated isn't good at hotel (50%) Try to get a upper 2nd or 3rd floor There currently appears to be a women's panty napper at resort, my wife and another 1st Floor tenant had theirs stolen If you have left over candy (Christmas, valentines, Easter, etc) bring it. They love chocolate, gum, candy) leave $1-2 tip with candy on pillow for cleaning lady Extra bottles of water may appear along with more bathroom soap, shampoo, body wash Enjoy [Details]

We had a beautiful vacation , even though I was really nervous about the comments , but I am glad that we choose this resort! We had a Junior Suite, big , modern room, clean, the building close to everything. The only thing that bothered me -the golf carts- i understand that you have to offer something for a membership, VIP.... but the fumes are disgusting, why not electric cars? The restaurants were good, the brasilian phenomenal, the chinese...the food was good but the service was bad, the waiters dumped the food in front of us, and they didn't even bother to pass by our table, so we ate, we left, I doubt thas somebody noticed [Details]

WARNING! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS RESORT. I PAID $9000. FOR 2 ROOMS 14 DAYS FOR MY LITTLE FAMILY. WORST STAFF AT THE FRONT DESK, LOTS OF LOCALS WERE CUTTING IN FRONT OF US DURING CHECK IN WAS TOLD IS $200 IF YOU LOOSE YOUR BRACELET $3 IF YOU LOOSE YOUR ROOM KEY CART. WAS GIVEN 42111 AND 42115 EVEN THOUGH I REQUESTED A CONNECTING ROOMS THEY DIDN'T CARE IF MY KIDS WERE ALL MINORS. SHE CIRCLE OUR ROOM IN A MAP AND THAT'S IT. NO TIME FOR HER TO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS. KEY DIDN'T WORK THROUGH OUT THE STAY RUINED OUR VACATION WHEN YOU HAD TO KEEP WALKING UP TO THE LOBBY AND IT'S ON A MOUNTAIN WITH MULTIPLE STAIRWAYS UP AND DOWN HILL. 11 RESTAURANT IS A LIE. WANTED TO BOOK ITALIAN AND WAS TOLD DURING THE 2 WEEKS IT DIDN'T OPEN. THERE ARE ONLY 3 RESTAURANT OPEN EACH WEEK. IT'S POSSIBLE THEY WERE LYING TO US AS I MENTION SERVICE CLIENT WAS A NIGHTMARE. I BURST INTO TEARS THE NEXT MORNING WHEN WAITING FOR THE SHUTTLE EACH TIME IT SHOWS UP WAS ALMOST FULL AND LOCALS DOESN'T CARE IF YOU WERE THERE AHEAD OF THEM WAITING THEY CUT IN FRONT OF YOU. VERY MISLEADING THE ALL INCLUSIVE WITH THEIR BUFFET IS OPEN FRIDAY TO SUNDAY AND IT CLOSED SO YOU NEED TO TAKE A SHUTTLE TO ANOTHER RESORT 7 MINUTES RIDE TO CASABLANCA BUFFET IS LOCATED AT THE TROPICAL RESORT AGAIN SHUTTLE FROM HELL YOU HAVE TO WAIT ON FOR BREAKFAST LUNCH AND DINNER FROM MONDAY TO THURSDAY. THEIR BUFFET IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE PEARL BUFFET AT THE CONFRESSI. BEST SHOWS IN THE EVENING AGAIN YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE SHUTTLE TO THE COLLESIUM 7 MINUTES BUS RIDE FROM HELL. I HAVE TO SAY AFTER THE SHOW IS THE WORST AS ONLY 1 SHUTTLE AND WE FEARED FOR OUR LIFE AS LOCALS ARE DRUNK AND PUSHED IN FRONT OF YOU TO GET IN THE SHUTTLE. WE LITERALLY WAITED 45 MINUTES TO GET IN THE SHUTTLE SOMETIMES AT MIDNIGHT WITH LITTLE ONES. BECAUSE THEY HAVE 1 SHUTTLE RUNNING AND OVER 700 PEOPLE WAITING IT WAS A NIGHTMARE AND REAL DANGER. THEIR SCAM IS TRYING TO SELL YOU MEMBERSHIP STARTED AT $33000 TO $20000 TO $12000 TO $5000 AND WHEN WE GOT UP HE TRIED TO OFFERED IT TO US AT $1000. I TOLD HIM NO THANK YOU! NO CONTRACT THEY ASKED WHAT'S YOUR CREDIT LIMIT BEFORE THEY EVEN TELL YOU THEIR PRICE. IS A SCAM DO NOT BUY. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESORT FROM HELL. THE STAFF ARE VERY RUDE WITH NO MANNERS. YOU NEED TO LISTENED TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON THIS RESORT ARE ALL TRUE. DO NOT GO [Details]

Issues on issues for my boyfriend and I.
Food was impossible to get unless you had a reservation for any of the restaurants besides the buffet(which also had specific hours), IN ORDER to make a reservation for dinner etc. you needed to be there between the hours of 9-11 and 3-5 something along those lines, so if you like to eat regularly or on your own schedule I don't recommend. Two bottles of water were provided daily, which is not as much as one would think it is especially two people who drink 10-15 bottles per day. COULD NOT STAY HYDRATED. In my opinion the alcoholic drinks also no bueno, WAY too over poured and very hard to enjoy. best part #1 was when we ran into a family emergency back home our second night there(OUT OF 8) and needed to to get back to Canada, WELL its only possible to arrange between the hours of 9-5 or whenever your rep is available, not a huge deal but deal breaker. BEST PART #2 In total we were there for 3 days (AGAIN OUT OF 8) and were not able to receive a refund on the rest of the days (OR THE LOCK WE HAD TO PAY FOR, FOR OUR SAFE) we were not able to be there. We also had to sign a waiver as to why we were leaving early. The staff on the other hand was absolutely amazing and very polite, although, I would avoid everyone on a VIP golf cart as all they want to do is take you on your "welcoming tour" and try to sell you a time share, we honestly missed our tour because we were sleeping (neighbours woke us at 4 a.m COULD HEAR EVERYTHING AND I MEAN EVERYTHING..... THROUGH THE WALLS.) and were hassled anytime we were spotted so someone could bring us on this tour. no, we did not go on our tour I simply Smiled and told them we had already received it. I suggest the same to anyone who Visits this place, if you don't want to be hassled ON VACATION.
Oh, and did I mention no refund?
If you want a relaxing vacation, where you can stay hydrated, enjoy your alcoholic beverages and not be hassled on a regular basis for your tour I would just avoid.
**** LOTS OF WALKING HILLY AREAS AND STAIRS WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND FOR ANYONE WITH MOBILITY ISSUES*** [Details]

Overall, our stay was good. There are some obvious maintenance issues that should be addressed, ie lack of water pressure. We cannot say enough good about the staff. Our bell boy, Leo was very helpful. Johnson who books excursions (located by the beach) was amazing. Our cleaning lady Julia, the people on the front desk, the staff in the restaurants are all exceptional. [Details]

A la cartes are absolutely amazing.
Food served at both The Pearl and Casa Blanca is also very good. Best we have ever had at an all inclusive resort.
The weak points
The rooms. Our AC did not work well. To keep our room cool, we had to keep the washroom door and black out curtains closed at all times.
We could only take a shower early mornings or late evenings. No water pressure during daytime hours.

[Details]

Stayed at confresi for a week with my boyfriend. Hotel was nice minus all the golf carts, motorcycles, and cars driving around the resort grounds. Food was okay, we both got sick the last day and everyone we talked to afterwards got sick for a couple of days as well. Beach isn't very nice if you like to walk on it (very short Beach) the resort also has a poo like aroma when you walk along the grounds. Beautiful scenery though and room was clean. Wouldn't go back. When reading this take into account we're in our early twenties so we don't have high standards. The price was cheap so we went. Wouldn't pay more than 900 to go here though [Details]

Cofresi Palm Beach resort and spa
[Details]
Slightly disappointing
Stay Away
More of a Dominican hotel, not a four star resort
The VIP beach which we are supposedly able to access with our upgrade was indicated open by guest service and when we went down security stated it was closed
The front desk will serve Dominicans always first before non-Dominicans [Details]
Travel Agent from Ontario
[Details]
NOT GOOD
Worst vacation ever
Cofresi
First Time to DR
Our 2 week vacation
[Details]
Stay away from this resort
Vacation
Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort
Worst trip south
Cofresi
Myself and my kid enjoyed tremendously. For sure will go back. Pools are clean and well kept. Beach is beautiful. Enjoyed the food. place is well kept.
There are stairs so for people with strollers and elderly people I would advice to make arrangements. Overall great experience. [Details]
Worst place even
No shuttle to take you in town. Have to fine your way by taxi. If you have uber app and know where you're going. [Details]
Good value
Cofresi not the same
Not a 4 star
Not enough beds on beach (numberous moved to VIP section and fence moved to consume more beach area)
Not as good flavor of food at buffet ( go to Casablanca @ tropical) shuttle takes you there in 5 min
Most all entertainment is at tropical ( shuttle)
Room did not have dressers
You have to pay for safe
Make sure you check sliding patio door ( ours did not have a pin to lock) or bring a 10 penny nail
Hot water was almost nonexistent
Rolling blackouts (don't both setting clock)
Only 1-2 plugs in room for charging
We just got back from the Lifestyle Tropical and this was by far our best stay
If you go stay in newly updated buildings 5 or 6
There are a lot of beach beds there (some with curtains)
They have a great sushi bar (zen)
They bring you drinks
They will bring you snacks (wings, panini, burgers, etc)
This is the better of the two resorts
Unless you pay for VIP at Cofresi
So based on our trip in December 2019 and Jan 2020
Cofresi 3*
Tropical 4*
Footnote:
Bring $1 bill (US) they don't take luney's and exchange rated isn't good at hotel (50%)
Try to get a upper 2nd or 3rd floor
There currently appears to be a women's panty napper at resort, my wife and another 1st Floor tenant had theirs stolen
If you have left over candy (Christmas, valentines, Easter, etc) bring it. They love chocolate, gum, candy) leave $1-2 tip with candy on pillow for cleaning lady
Extra bottles of water may appear along with more bathroom soap, shampoo, body wash
Enjoy [Details]
Great vacation
The only thing that bothered me -the golf carts- i understand that you have to offer something for a membership, VIP.... but the fumes are disgusting, why not electric cars?
The restaurants were good, the brasilian phenomenal, the chinese...the food was good but the service was bad, the waiters dumped the food in front of us, and they didn't even bother to pass by our table, so we ate, we left, I doubt thas somebody noticed [Details]
Cofresi palm beach stay
SCAM FALSE ADVERTISED HORRIBLE FRONT DESK AND CS.
Cofressi resort and spa
I wouldn't.
Two week stay, January 2018
We cannot say enough good about the staff. Our bell boy, Leo was very helpful. Johnson who books excursions (located by the beach) was amazing. Our cleaning lady Julia, the people on the front desk, the staff in the restaurants are all exceptional. [Details]
Cofresi spa
So be prepared for lots of walking [Details]
