We stayed here for Dia de los Muertos 2023, while playing in a softball tournament across the street. The location is amazing if you are doing anything at the sports complex. It is also a very short walk to the Malecon, which was excellent for Day of the Dead festivities. We stayed in the all-inclusive section.
Check in/check out - The front desk was very efficient. Our group did have one issue with a room, but we spoke to them the next day and it was rectified. They couldn't find a reservation for a family that had booked 2 rooms. They allowed us to keep our bracelets on after check out so we could still access the resort.
Rooms - We upgraded to the Oceanfront Terrace because it was the only one available with a balcony. The rooms were very nice and clean. Our room was cleaned promptly every day, except the days that we but the Do Not Disturb sign up. The Oceanfront Terrace had an excellent view. There was a little bit of damage on our floor from the earthquake. I know that the floor below us, our friends mentioned there was construction going on in the room next to them. We didn't hear any noise, but we did see a few workers. Looks like they are slowly picking away at the repairs.
Food - We really only ate at the main buffet (La Villita) and Gaviotas (once). The food was pretty good. The breakfast buffet had a lot of food that wasn't really "breakfast food". They did have omelets, sausage, french toast etc. so I managed to find lots to eat. Gaviotas was a really good experience as well. This was included in our all-inclusive bracelets (except a couple of items like lobster). Make sure to make a reservation for this restaurant. Sunday morning brunch was busy but we had no troubles getting a table. They even had a mariachi band playing.
Entertainment - I enjoyed playing water volleyball with Mariana. We met her when she previously worked at another hotel we stayed at. She is very welcoming and so much fun. So, it was an excellent bonus that she is now working at the Sheraton. I also did a stretching class with her and really enjoyed it. You can tell she enjoys her job! I did try to join beach volleyball, but they didn't have enough people to play the day that I wanted to. We didn't really take in any nightly entertainment.
Gym - I used the gym a couple of days on our trip. I went between 9 and 10 in the morning and it wasn't too busy. The gym is 24 hours so it's nice that people can go anytime. There is a great selection of equipment and it's well taken care of.
Other - I didn't get a chance to use the spa. The food at the poolside snack bar is fantastic. Chuy, one of the bell boys, was very helpful. He even explained to us about our thermostat when we said we couldn't get our air conditioner to work (the sensors on your patio door need to be lined up exactly). Starbucks is very expensive, but it was a nice treat to have on resort. The beach is fairly rocky, but still swimmable.
Overall, I would definitely stay here again. The staff are excellent, the food is great, and the location is unbeatable for what we needed. [Details]

We've been visiting this hotel for many years, and keep going back because the location, services and staff are exceptional. Our room was a deluxe ocean view, and initially we were placed on a lower floor, we requested to move to a higher floor and they were able to accommodate us our second day. We prefer the “01” room on the floors and they have an excellent view of downtown PV from the higher floors. We had an all-inclusive package and found most of the restaurants to be excellent. The only one I was disappointed with was Pescatore. The Shrimp tempura appetizer was deep fried shrimp in a regular batter not a tempura batter, and it was overly greasy. The coconut shrimp for my main course was too sweet with the coconut and mango chutney. The best food we had was everything we tried on the Gaviotas menu, and we tried nearly all of it. From the amuse busche to dessert was superb in flavour and presentation. The waiters all were very attentive. [Details]

This was our 3rd time at the Sheraton and compared to other hotels we have stayed at this is our favourite. You don't have to get up at 7 to reserve a chair by the pool or beach. The lineups at the buffet are short. The food is good with a good variety. The elevators work well and little waiting time. The currency exchange offered at the hotel was better than that offered at the various kiosks we passed. We had a room that was quite far away from the lobby which meant a bit more walking but also no noise from the bar at night. [Details]

Interesting and mixed experience in PV
Salim Yusuf, Burlington, ON

The best parts were the weather , the city was moderately interesting, beach was good and the waters of the Pacific were great . The Sheraton is a well kept property and the room was excellent . The restaurants and the food at the hotel were patchy -- the Mexican restaurant( Gaviota) was good to very good with excellent service, the Italian ( Alfresco )which doubled up as the seafood restaurant for half the days, was a disappointment both in the flavors of the food and the poor service. On the Sunday, the hotel had a brunch( in a newly renovated large facility ) which was excellent .The Expo restaurant was not a great experience either in setting or food flavors.
The hotel had only half their restaurants open and so one had to make reservations for dinner around 8.00 am --anything later than 9.00 am would lead to no space or a reservation at a very inconvenient hour .During dinners, the restaurants were at least one third empty( although we were often told that the restaurant was full), we believe due to shortage of staff . We learnt to navigate this .Although their website indicated that they had an Asian restaurant ( which got good reviews on Trip Advisor ), it was not part of their hotel facilities and was not part of their "all inclusive plan".. So the food front was a bit suboptimal . We made up for this by going into town and having two excellent meals ( a Mexican and a Thai ). We would have preferred a plan with room and breakfast alone or with vouchers for half the dinners, which will allow flexibility in dining in or out. It also appears that the hotel restaurants had not made adequate planning to staff restaurants properly for the high occupancy after the Covid slow downs.
We discussed our experiences with the manager on duty, Mr Bermuda ( especially the very poor service at Alfresco) and he was very responsive and helpful. Things were smoother after that as we avoided the Alfresco restaurant and minimized dining in the hotel . .
The tennis courts were excellent ,the pros were helpful and the spa was excellent..
If the dining experience and the flavor of food were improved, I would consider returning to this hotel in future. [Details]

The stay was woinderful because of the company of my family. I was quite disappointed as it was more like a 3 star hotel. On the shuttel to airport we heard there was a Michael Jackson show on the Friday. We were at the resort that evening. No signs, sound or anything. So confused that we missed it. Hotel would have been acceptable as a 3 star. Great as a 2.5 star. [Details]

I would say overall we enjoyed our stay at the Sheraton. The food was very good they had a good variety, if anything they could stand to jazz up the salad selection. The drinks were incredible, in the bar and restaurant area the drinks were served in nice glassware and always garnished with fruit. There was not enough a la cart restaurants. There was never mention that you had to pay for the oriental restaurant and the Starbuck coffee shop. That would have been nice to know. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. We could have done without the constant bugging about timeshare that got to be tiresome. Our room was ok, we stayed in the clubroom on the 22 floor. The view was amazing, the bed was extremely comfortable it was also very quiet. The down side was we payed an extra $200.00 each to be in the adult only and we got very little for that money. There was turn the bed down service which is no big deal but then they only left one chocolate on the pillow, hello there are two people in the room. The fridge was stocked everyday with water, soft drinks and one beer. We asked about it and they said that was what you got, hello there are two people in the room. Two robes and one pair of slippers. They did offer a private lounge that you could go for breakfast and coffee. We were really disappointed in what we got for the extra $200.00 each. Totally not worth it!! A big thank you to Jonathon that worked in the lounge, he found my husbands wallet returned it nothing was missing. Good to know there are still honest people out there. The grounds of the hotel were kept very nice and alway clean. We love the beach and this was a big disappointment, it was very rocky with very little sand. It was had to walk on so we didn't go for many walks on the beach. [Details]

It was noted but we did not see any changes , we stripped the sheets , and slept on mattress and still got bitten. Seems house keeping did not care or ???? I think they have a serious problem that needs attention. we wont return until we hear the problem has been addressed and taken care of. [Details]

Excellent service, friendly staff, English speaking. Bars, lounge and servers all excellent. Beer in cans (not on tap) so this was a nice surprise as we were told to bring our own cooler cups (which we didn't end up using at all). Room was good, not the best. The window did open and that was glorious! Air conditioning worked great. Drank the water from tap, no problems. Small bar fridge was not very cold at all and had one 1 beer in it. Food was excellent. Entertainment provided was fun! Resort is walking distance to the Malicon and old downtown(we walked down and back 3 times) Marina is short taxi ride away, and so in mall for shopping. [Details]

Good: Room was clean, room service was very promt and effecient. Found the rooms to be a little sterile and lacking any local flavour.
Service at the lobby bar and poolside bar was great (except ONE guy at the lobby bar who refused to mix us a pina colada with some orange juice).
We tried all three on-site restaurants and found the Italian one lacking. The Mexican one was OK and the Seafood one was amazing.
The pool was great, and the daily activities were fun. Sometimes finding a lounger was a challenge.
Huge shout out the kind older gentleman with the Canadian wife from Quebec (we didn't catch your name) who was stationed in the info booth at the street entrance to the hotel. He gave us great and HONEST advice about where to go shopping and which tours were worth our money. No sales pitch!
Also, we had a massage at the parlour across the street from the hotel which was quite good (getting one at the hotel would have cost 2-3 times what we paid).
Bad: My biggest complaint about the hotel was being grabbed by a "vacation club" sales rep as soon as we set down our luggage. At first she misled us to believe she was giving us a hotel orientation. Once we made it clear we were not interested in purchasing a time share she let us go, but we found several other staff members would not take "no" so easily.
The bed was a little hard and uncomfortable. The pillows were useless.
Overall: The vacation was good, however I would not return simply because I hated the heat and the feeling that every interaction with a local was about getting us to spend money or tip.
If this is your first time going to Peurto Vallarta be cautious about buying anything from the tequila vendors near the Malecon. They are horribly overpriced and more interested in getting you a "deal" on your tequila as long as you'll do a time share presentation. Our kind gentleman who we didn't get the name of sent us to a tequila warehouse that charged me $13 usd for the bottle I wanted instead of $160 usd that two of the Malecon vendors tried to charge me.
Also don't take the taxis, the busses are way less money and service near the hotel is frequent. [Details]

Overall we enjoyed our vacation. One thing we didn't like was the beach in front of the hotel, it was sand and pebble and you had to cross the pebbles to get to the ocean. Doesn't sound like a major problem, but it was an inconvenience and prevented us accessing the beach as often as we would have liked. The hotel food was excellent. The buffet service was a bit hit and miss, but I think this was possibly because the hotel may have been short-staffed and not yet geared up for as many people as were staying there. We booked the club level room and the bed was very comfortable but the room was 'simple'. There was a coffee maker, but the length of the power cord meant that you had to use it on the floor as there wasn't a table that could be used to accommodate it. We had a great ocean view from the room. The male singer in the piano bar was pretty good, so we'd spend the end of the evening in there; would have been better if he could have entertained from 9pm rather than 10pm.The downtown area of Puerta Vallarta is in walking distance of the hotel so we would often walk along the beach(which was sandier away from our hotel) to get there, and we liked downtown very much. The taxi from the airport cost $250(Pesos), but only cost $120(Pesos) back to the airport, so although the taxis are cheap, it's worth checking the cost with the taxi driver before accepting the ride. We would go back to Puerta Vallarta but would stay in a hotel which had sandy beaches in front of it. [Details]

We for the most part enjoyed our stay. The location is walking distance to the malecon or just a cheap cab ride away. You can't wk the beach here , as its separate from other hotels by rock walls. Spa services are very expensive but if u walk across the street theres a massage place that's very good and cheep. Concierge at the hotel are awesome and knowledgable. Stay away from the excursion desk! They try to upsell you unless you go to one of those ridiculous time share events that wastes your entire morning. We got our excursions online and the concierge printed out tickets off, and got a better deal. The pool here is not very big, but the hotels not too crowded so it worked out. Excellent resort
[Details]
Great as always
[Details]
Good holiday
We had a room that was quite far away from the lobby which meant a bit more walking but also no noise from the bar at night. [Details]
Interesting and mixed experience in PV
[Details]
Not 4 star
On the shuttel to airport we heard there was a Michael Jackson show on the Friday. We were at the resort that evening. No signs, sound or anything. So confused that we missed it.
Hotel would have been acceptable as a 3 star.
Great as a 2.5 star. [Details]

Sheraton Buganvillas
It was nice to have a sun terrace as most rooms did not have a balcony.
The hotel was only half full and there was a nice quiet crowd with no rowdies. Nightly entertainment was advertised in the brochure, but we had
3 or 4 nights with nothing. [Details]
Mexico 2020
Wonderful vacation
Luxury resort
Good except for the bed bugs
It was noted but we did not see any changes , we stripped the sheets , and slept on mattress and still got bitten. Seems house keeping did not care or ???? I think they have a serious problem that needs attention. we wont return until we hear the problem has been addressed and taken care of. [Details]
Beautiful resort excellent service
Fantastic
We will be back
January 2016
Repeat stay and would come back again
Loved it
Beautiful Hotel grounds
The food was good, the buffet had nice options, but the sit down dining seemed to be very small portions (6 prawns for a dinner main).
The rooms were very nice, quite a good size, nice sink area and bathroom. The a/c worked well too. Bed was comfortable.
Overall I like this hotel and would go back. [Details]
Great Location, very rocky beach.
Room was clean, room service was very promt and effecient.
Bad:
My biggest complaint about the hotel was being grabbed by a "vacation club" sales rep as soon as we set down our luggage. At first she misled us to believe she was giving us a hotel orientation. Once we made it clear we were not interested in purchasing a time share she let us go, but we found several other staff members would not take "no" so easily.
The bed was a little hard and uncomfortable. The pillows were useless.
Overall:
The vacation was good, however I would not return simply because I hated the heat and the feeling that every interaction with a local was about getting us to spend money or tip.
[Details]
