Velas Vallarta Suite Resort

During our 14 day stay at Velas, we hit a couple "road bumps" early but the management and staff were very accommodating and helpful in finding resolutions. Would be nice to have a third restaurant option, but the ones that are available changed up their menus regularly and provided excellent tasting food and great service. It was great to see grounds staff maintaining the common areas constantly. Nightly entertainment in the lobby was fun. Mexican night dinner was fun. The kids loved the pool and lazy river. Its too bad the staff still have to wear masks - it must be very uncomfortable for them. We were very surprised (and dismayed) to see that children under 5 were required to wear masks in the kids zone (even outdoors). [Details]

The hotel is lovely with stunning and extensive planting all around. The pools and beach are great. The food was good in the main eating area but very good in Restaurant Andrea. However, the best part by far was the staff. Everyone was friendly, nice and helpful. All around a great holiday. [Details]

I have been to a number of resorts such as Sandals, Riu, Iberostar, - in Cuba, Mexico and various other Caribbean countries, but I would have to say Velas Vallarta was probably the best yet. The staff were phenomenal, the food great, the room clean and modern, the environment definitely 5 Star all round. I would highly recommend this resort for both family or for a couple's getaway...works for all. [Details]

Property is extremely well kept and vey beautiful. The little touches make the small deficiencies easy to overlook. Turn down service was a bit sporadic. Missed 2 days out of 7. Champagne and "tuxedo" strawberries. Upgraded bath amenities. Bathroom very small but nice. Outstanding service. Food at the Andrea restaurant was always above excellent. Lunch at La Ribera was excellent.Lots of staff has been there long term. Lots of pool and beach chairs. Meticulously cleaned. Peacocks roaming the property gave an exotic touch. They would come and eat out of your hand. Only complaint...did not use the beach because of the "shade pergolas" Quiet property not condusive to parties!Can't wait to try another Velas property! Super friendly and extremely attentive staff. Very clean. Lots of pools. Food was great. Liquor is all top shelf. Room service was so handy...especially those late night pizzas. Beach was pretty rocky and would have been nice to have outdoor entertainment at night instead of being in a banquet hall. But all in all it was great bang for your buck. Also don't go to the hotel tour...it's a time share presentation. The concierge is not really a concierge.we had a one bedroom master suite and it was awesome. Super spacious and great having a separate room from our kids. [Details]
