Mazatlan

We have been to Mexico 16 times but this was our first trip to Mazatlan . Based on reviews we booked this resort. We booked the preferred package also recommended. The result was a package that was 50% more than we have ever paid in PV, including the Barcelo, Riu and Marival. The resort is close to the airport. It is not close to Mazatlan but we don't usually leave the resort. The rooms are very nice. We want a comfortable bed, air conditioning , hot water and a toilet that flushes. It was all good except the A/C which did not work even after complaining. This has happened to us before where they deny there is a problem and try to convince you that you are incorrect. The preferred upgrade meant a child free building, upgraded mini bar,private pool and private lounge. Children usually aren't an issue.The mini bar was no different than the other rooms at the resort. We don't sit at the pool but prefer the beach.The lounge was nice but is at the other end of the resort so we only went twice.The upgrade was not worth it. The food was very good at the Meraki and the Portofino. The Oceania was good but we had very poor service both times we went. Th El Patio we did not enjoy and only went once. The buffet was decent but you could never be certain it would be open unless you used the app . There was a beach bbq one night that was a gong show(not enough seating). Ocean views from our room with nice sunsets. Saw dolphins twice. Tried sleeping with patio doors open to cool the room but waves crashing were too loud. We would return if the price was more comparable to Puerto Vallarta.

Location is decent as is the beach, aquarium tickets included, service requests answered promptly but limited meal choices, line ups, extra charges, spotty pool service, poor beach chairs, and delayed or non existent cleaning of chairs and dishes left in the halls etc are a downfall. There are a number of great food joints outside the resort including across the street and it is easy enough to catch a ride anywhere from this location. The price is somewhat high for the offering, though.

We enjoyed the resort. A little dated but was fine. Location was good, walked out and in the action. Walking distance to many shops, bars etc.

We loved the location as we are walkers and the malecon and the beach were both fantastic for walking. The hotel is nice and clean . Staff was very helpful especially Jonathon. The ocean view rooms are a great plus however not great for sleeping . The street noise was very loud every nite. Although we loved the view we would ask for a lagoon side room next time even though they don't have balconies

We loved everything about the resort, first class all around. The rooms are a bit dated but that's the only knock against this resort. One suggestion: you have such a beautiful long beach that goes for miles! Please start a service where you could rent bicycles on the beach so that your quests can go for long rides along your beautiful coastline.

While this hotel was very clean and spacious in the rooms, barely anyone spoke English so it was hard to figure out what was included in your all inclusive and because of the language barrier often things did not get done. One thing that was very irritating was the fact that they did not fill up our fridge with pops and water or if they did it was barely anything. We were not allowed to order drinks and take them back to our room because that was not part of our all inclusive. So if we wanted water we had to order it at the pool and then hide it in our bag which was ridiculous! The food was really good but the service was slow and you had to order everything so you had to wait all the time. Which once you knew it took about an hour to get your food you just made sure to order well in advance of being hungry. With the exception of two people the staff was very friendly. But this is definately not a 4 star resort and the term all inclusive is a bit misleading. While everything is free you have to order everything and sign for your food. This would have been helpful information to know before you got there so you weren't wondering where you get your food.

Upon arrival it was apparent that the buildings were outdated. There was bar music that was so loud it vibrated the room door which was not sealed and you could see the clear space around it. Upon entering the room the bathroom was extremely small. Barely able to accommodate one person. Closet unfinished and was just a clothing bar and 3 drawers wide open to the entrance. 2 double beds that are attached to the floor and a door to the patio. I decided to spend a couple extra $ on the vacation for the ocean view which did not disappoint. Don't come here if you wish to relax! Constant extremely loud music which I would call noise (ompa bands on beach with amplifiers). When an actual mariachi band showed up you couldn't hear them.

This place seems to be going down hill. I have stayed here a few times in the past but will not stay there again. Sorry to say
