Mazatlan
We loved this resort but we like a quiet atmosphere with early nights. The location of this resort means a 15-minute ground transfer with no additional stops. The beach had no soliciting which was so refreshing. You are not close to Mazatlan but we have been there before. We never left the resort.
Rooms are spacious with full ocean views. We saw whales and dolphins our 5th floor balcony. No wristbands are required! Food was great. No reservations are required for the a la cartes. We had no trouble getting a table for 6. I particularly enjoyed the 24/7 coffee bar. Pools seemed to have enough loungers and umbrellas. Although it seemed the hotel wasn't very busy. It may have been a different thing if the resort was at capacity. It got a little noisy while "Boots On The Beach" attendees arrived for a country music jamboree. Even then the nights quieted down early.
Although the children's area was poorly designed, our 4 year old had a wonderful holiday playing in the shallow pools and running on the beach. [Details]

The strong points
A la cartes don't require reservations
Food was excellent and plentiful
Premium liquor
24/7 coffee and snack bar
No wristbands
Elevators were very good and only for quests
Friendly staff
Beautiful beach with no soliciting
15 minute ground transfer
The weak points
Children's area:
- Not stroller accessible
- No towels
- No shade
- Play structure seems an after thought. Inexpensive box store build which racks side to side. Placed on concrete. Slide and swings were blazing hot during the day as they were not shaded.
Sanitary measures
Staff kept the resort very tidy. Building 2 seems to have a structural issue as the hallway has support poles and the planters has the vegetaion removed. We were in this building and it didn't effect our stay.

600 pesos to go to town and another 600 to get back. No public bus. No uber comes out to resort. Everything else was great. Entertainment usually done early. App was vague or wrong. Nothing posted on events anywhere. Service in buffet and pool great. Restaurant service just ok [Details]

Good Resort for Families!

We are a couple in our late 20s and had a relaxing time here for a week. Spent lots of time by the pool and got solid service from the pool servers. All staff was very friendly and helpful and spoke decent english.
99% of the crowd here was families but we didn't mind! Would have been nice to meet others our age though.
The beach is great for walking down. The wind is cold coming off the water and the riptide is too intense to go in past your knees. There's also a large mound of sand that protects the pools from the wind so there's only a few spots you can get a lounger and see the ocean. And if you get one of these spots then you'll also get that cold wind coming off the water!
The food was consistently average or underwhelming. Most food was either bland, stale, or soggy and we went to bed hungry pretty much every night. This was the more disappointing part of the trip. I didn't see any suspicious food safety practices and I only had minor stomach issues once or twice which is below average for me so I think they are doing a good job in that regard. They just need to season their food more and aim for a bit better quality across the board. For example, the bacon was from frozen all week and then finally on our last day there was real bacon that was cooked in individual slices and it was amazing! [Details]

Fantastic week at Dreams

We stayed for my birthday weekend had a fantastic time. The staff were all great, especially the entertainment team! Entertainment team members, Tury & Luis were absolutely phenomenal with our son along with the rest of the team as well. Our waiter Josue took such good care of us (and others as we made friends around the pool) he hardly had to be asked when we needed a new drink and he always had something for us to try if it was taking time for what we ordered. It seemed the pool bar had a hard time getting cranberry juice and mint for one of the days we were there even though they had it up at other bars. Josue would always ensure our drinks were on the way even if he had to go get it from a further bar. The team at barefoot grill always great you with a smile and fast service. The team at Portifino were so great catering to our picky eater son and making him what he requested even if it wasn't on the menu. All the other staff (bell men, front desk, housekeeping, room service) were all so friendly. A wonderful week spent at Dreams. [Details]

The strong points
The entertainment team went above and beyond to ensure we had a fun week around the pool and resort.
The weak points
Cleanliness and resort upkeep. The rooms where cleaned well, but we often found cups or plates sitting for long periods onto of garbage cans in walkways around the resort or along the beach. Tables, chairs and floor around the pools weren't wipe daily.

Dreams Estrella Del Mar is beautiful, the staff is great and the food is very good with good variety and a la cart restaurants, service was excellent. We were well looked after and had a great week. Gated community with security. The bellboys were very helpful, the check-in was seamless. [Details]
