Finest Punta Cana

We had a fantastic time at this wonderful resort! We chose to stay during the First week of February. My husband and I selected the "Honeymoon Beachfront Suite with Private Pool". This was a wonderful choice that gave us a beautiful patio to enjoy the sun in a private quiet area attached to our room. Throughout the day we were regularly served drinks on our personal patio by the Bar staff.

The restaurants varied in quality and quantity of portions and service. The "market kitchen buffet" was Okay. There was quite a bit of selection but I do suggest requesting the grillers to make you something while trying some of the pre made selections. We regularly had a server named Maximo and he was what made the buffet meals awesome. He was a great server and treated us like friends he had known for years.

We tried several of the Restaurants on the resorts as well. the Dommo Restaurant was very classy and the food servings were fantastic. We chose this restaurant twice The first time the service and food and the entire experience was fantastic. Miguel Was our server at this restaurant on both occasions and also treated us very well. Now with much praise in this review I feel its important to note that on our second occasion visiting this restaurant(Dommo) we had very very slow Service. It was surprising considering the service we received on our first visit.

We also visited Gusto restaurant which we were also quite impressed with but some of the portions are small but extremely delicious!

We tried the Buffet on the beach the food was decent but the selection was minimal compared to the main buffet.

The Beach was fantastic but the Ocean was quite rough for much of our stay. Finest provides lifeguards and Beach maintence (cleaning the washed up seaweed every morning) on their portion of the beach. They also have Flags they change depending on the safety of the ocean water in regards to swimming. It would be my strong suggestion to heed the advice of the flag.

Choosing a suite or package that includes the "Excellence package is well worth the extra cost in my opinion. It gives you access to more restaurants and other places on the Resort not available to everyone. It also includes one use of the Hydrotherapy in the spa which is well worth the experience.

We are avid coffee fans so we would often visit the "sweet corner" to get a great cup of their specialty coffees.

Another important thing to note is we stayed on the Adults only side of the resort but their is also a family side. On this side their were great looking pool areas and water/splash pads. Their is also a Juice/Smoothie bar that all on the resort have access to. As an Adult with the Excellence Package you will have access to everything on the resort.

Most evenings they also have live shows for all residents on the resort.
All in all we truly do plan on going back to visit this resort the next time we need to get away from the snowy, cold winters in Canada. This was a Fantastic experience and I can't say enough about it. [Details]

We were immediately drawn to the beautiful design of the entire property! It was well maintained and very clean in all areas. The rooms were spacious that had lots of closet space for our luggages and clothes, plenty of seating and table arrangements on our balcony/terrace to hang out, bed was very comfortable. We loved all the activities and play options for the kids, app was super helpful to plan our days ahead. We used the tennis court, gym and spa which was also a pleasant experience. [Details]

Finest at Punta Cana is one of the best hotel we vacationed at. The room was very nice with a view of the beach, the grounds very well kept and clean. The restaurants served good food and catered to small kids. Great experience on all points. [Details]

AWESOME experience at Finest Punta Cana!!! [Details]

We loved our chosen swim up suite in the Excellence Club. Large spacious, modern, walk in closet. This is a lovely high end family resort and we attended just as a couple. The Excellence Club offered a quiet, peaceful adult only environment and three dedicated adult only restaurants. The Finest Family side however is highly impressive with child focused activities beyond anything we have seen before. More geared however to younger families from our impression and the Imagine Club appeared incredible. We booked a 15 nt stay which we personally discovered was about 4 nts too long. We had access to all the Finest Restaurants however they are family focused (understandably) and rather loud. The evening entertainment is all on the Finest side so that too can be heard from all restaurants starting at 8 pm. Overall, we give this Resort a 5 Star rating, with a 4 Star for Food Quality. Great sized rooms, ours had a private pool, we couldn't bear the smell of the deck so didn't get much use out of our private pool. The minibar service was consistent in replenishing the items and courteous in adding extra items of the items we consumed. The housekeeping was consistent in the upkeep of the room, we did find some of the items missing in the room that were part of the finest package and we had to request these but they were quick to replenishing anything we requested. We found the language barrier an issue in communicating basics such as with room service, they would not understand items that were on their own menu and would send something else instead.

The market buffet was a great place to have breakfast until we realized the amount of contamination in the food where meats and non meat menus were kept next to each other and utensils mixed in serving them. There were three stations where omelets we're made but not one was designated to just vegetarian, all had meat and veggie made on the same grill. But being part of the finest package we were fortunate enough to move our breakfasts to Gusto (exclusive to finest package) where we found our servers were more educated to understand the food contamination aspect, there was again a small barrier in the communication of things with the servers but seemed to be better than other parts of the resort.

Poolside service was great, you lay down and someone walks up to you to take your drink or food order within 15mins. I found the drinks were very artificial when asking for basic fruit juices, you would receive something made from flavor rather than fruit. Consistency in the food from poolside service and room service we found was an issue, one day you will receive something really good the next day the same order would yield entirely different results. The pool at the finest exclusive area seemed to be heated and was sometimes the perfect temperature and sometimes cold, unsure how they determined temperature. The environment was always clean and beautifully maintained which I loved about this resort. There was so much attention to detail to a level where there was a pathway that needed some concrete removed to get some under lying work done, they replaced that concrete path with plants within a day so as to ensure guests would not see a tarnish to the property during their stay and to this I give a thumbs up.

The spa was an incredible experience, I cannot say enough good things about it, I wish we had discovered them sooner during our stay, we'd probably be there every day.

The finest concierge was courteous enough to send a cake to our room on my wife's birthday, this was something they went above and beyond and has surely sealed my return to their facility in the near future.

The kids club and attention to children and their care was astonishing and that enhanced our stay, reading up about the kids club and seeing the attention to detail and physical care of the children is on a whole different level, you have to experience it to understand. [Details]

This is a great hotel with fabulous grounds. The staff are all happy to answer any questions and be of help. If you come from Montreal, remember you are going to a third world country that doesn't do much in terms of agriculture. There are times fruit and veggies are not available. Restaurants are a meager 3stars. All fish and seafood are overcooked unless you request otherwise and there's a lack of refinement and presentation in the dishes
