RESORT: perfect location with its own beach. The site is a little older, it's well maintained and in character with a Mayan theme, actually the aging enhances the Mayan theme, its exactly what I wanted.
THING TO DO / ENTERTAINMENT / FOOD: there's an abundant amount of everything, for those that want everything, including an awesome kid's section or there is plenty of room where you could be on your own away from other. Food selections were fresh & delicious. Truly the Best of all worlds.
In CONCLUSION: I could not be more pleased with my experience. I would personally give this resort 5 .
I will definitely choose & RECOMMEND Iberostar Playa Mita for future travel.

The layout of this resort was quite good and we really enjoyed our room that faced the beach. Our room was spacious but the pull-out couch was very uncomfortable. We asked for a cot but were told there were not any available. It also didn't seem like the room was ever thoroughly cleaned and the lack of ventilation in the bathroom was problematic. The room service was pretty good but the restaurants were not great. The main buffet had decent selection but would often run out of things and they would not replenish them. Locals definitely got priority getting into the buffet. Making reservations at the a la carte restaurants was nearly impossible, even days ahead, and the food at those restaurants was not great anyway. The rooftop patio was a great place to hang out during the day and the rooftop bar was a great spot for the evening. The taco bar served great fish tacos but no one seemed to even know it was there, perhaps because most days the beach had a red or black flag and was inaccessible. We only had one or two days where the beach was accessible so we didn't get to boogie board. We had to reserve deck chairs pretty early on a few days and some days there were extra chairs everywhere. We usually aimed for the rooftop patio as it was quieter and we could look out at the ocean. They should have more loungers there. We didn't look for the shows at night so we don't know if they had any or how good they were. The kids club looked cool and lots of kids seemed to go there. We liked their stated commitment to sustainability but not sure what happened to all those paper napkins behind the scenes. [Details]

I just spent a one week vacation from 2023-11-04 to 2023-11-11 at the Iberostar Selection Playa Mita. It was an amazing experience. I would easily return here again.

The beach was very nice and on a nice private cove. The beach wasn't at all busy like some other resorts. There was no incessant or annoying watercraft in the area. No noisy sea doos, boats, paragliders, and planes like some other resorts. Also, it was never a problem to get beach chairs. You don't have to go down at 6am in the morning to get some chairs. There was also beachside service for drinks which was quite nice.

The restaurants were all quite nice. We dined at the French, Japanese, and Steakhouse restaurants. Every one was a pleasant experience. The food and service was generally excellent!

The resort is quite new. Everything feels fresh and well maintained. I would easily consider coming her again! [Details]

The property is immaculate and the service excellent. Food is good, not much variety and the steak a la carte was disappointing. If you like to do things off the resort, it is quite distant from everything so expect to pay for taxis. The road from the airport to the resort is in very bad shape in some areas. [Details]

The hotel was very nice. Friendly and helpful staff. Food was good (especially the 4 ala carte restaurants - they are a must). While vegetarian/vegan options are limited they are very good. Plenty of lounge chairs around pool - no need to get up early to claim one. The view is beautiful! It is about an hour away from Puerto Vallarta so need to hire a taxi to go anywhere. But if your goal is to get away from the crowd, this hotel is it. I would absolutely recommend it and would go back. [Details]

Everyone very friendly, Beautiful setting, set in a large bay.
We had an ocean front room which was fabulous. Very comfortable king bed with nice linens and extra pillows. The shower was amazing, with nice amenities. Housekeeping was excellent, and room was done promptly. The two pools were great, we swam in the quiet one and watched the many activities in the main pool. The activity staff does an amazing job offering an array of activities for all. Nightly shows were very good. A kids program is offered and there is a great play area for them. [Details]

This is a really great resort for families. The buildings and grounds were clean and well kept. The pool area is laid out in a way that parents can relax and kids can play and have fun safely. The kids club and staff are fantastic!! Food was really good. This was our 3rd visit to this resort and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. As always, the food (at the buffet) was both plentiful and varied. We also had excellent meals at the Mexican restaurant. The hotel staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, whether at the front desk, the restaurants/lounges, or the pool. My spouse and I needed a quiet week to destress and reenergize. We went in January & the weather was perfect 25-30 deg C daytime & 18 deg C.

Greeted with a smile and a lovely cold non-alcoholic drink.
Room was large and clean with a view of the ocean and the pool from our balcony. There was a shower but no tub which was fine for us. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and nice. Our concierge Juancho stood out and went above and beyond to help, even offering to have chicken soup sent to our room when my husband was feeling ill (grumbly guts that he brought with him to Mexico).

This hotel is an hour's drive north of Puerto Vallarta airport so it is not a party place. The grounds and surrounding area are beautiful. The beach was sometimes empty and never crowded. It is very safe to play in the surf. It did not appear to be a place to swim due to the surf being relatively high and the beach is on open ocean. The pool was a great place to relax, swim or just play. There is a second pool for people who want to play water sports.

The entertainment staff did a great job of providing opportunities for play, sport and entertainment for adults and/or kids. I had a cast on my arm so I particularly enjoyed the water aerobics (with Drypro cast cover) and salsa lessons with Marco Polo.

My spouse and I enjoyed paying table tennis on our own, walking on the beach and hanging out. I ran on the beach and around the local area of Litibu and felt very safe running on the hotel side of the yellow wall by myself.

The food was excellent. Good quality and lots of variety at the buffets. The specialty restaurants required reservations but we learned we could have reserved before we arrived. Thats what I recommend. The food and service was generally excellent.

The wifi was free but was a little erratic.

We loved it and are already discussing returning to this hotel. For us, it was the perfect choice. Many of the people I talked to had been to other all inclusive resorts in Mexico and felt this one was superior. [Details]

Overall a pleasant experience.
The hotel is located in the middle of nowhere, though. So if leaving the resort and exploring surrounding villages and towns is important, you'll be disappointed. Shuttles to Puerto Vallarta are expensive. There is public transport for 35 pesos MX each way, but it's bumpy. [Details]

This hotel was lovely! Mainly because of the staff - All of them were amazing. Esmeralda by the pool was exceptional!!

We ate at 3 of the 4 Restaurants, Japanese & Mexican were the best. Buffet is good option if you don't have a reservation, They have theme nights and the food was plentiful & tasty. It could get crowded in there though, but it is a buffet.

Main Pool has plenty of children in it, It would be nice if there was a separate "adult" only section OR children's pool, where the parents could be with them.

In general the hotel was good. There seemed to be fewer staff, the drinks not as good and the bathrooms by the pool were pretty bad compared with our last visit. The hotel staff was friendly, the food was great and the rooms were clean. It looks as if the pool could use some work, however, the kids at the pool seemed to be having an amazing time. The ocean had beautiful tropical colors and was had very warm water. Beautiful sand and a long beach to walk!

My family of four (2 young adult sons) had a fantastic time at this resort. The staff is top notch - in particular, the entertainment staff. The resort itself is very clean, well taken care of and beautiful. Classy. The food was abundant and there was an amazing amount of choices. Very good too! The room was large and had a private balcony. We felt very safe on the resort and the resort is kind of on it's own which was nice. Very relaxing!!! We never had a problem getting a seat at the buffet or finding a chair to lay on. It was full, but we never once felt crowded! The beach is nice, but the water is wavey, which can be fun. It's not a 'swimming' type beach but a lot of fun! Bring your boogie board! Vendors on the beach, but they are nice and all you have to do is say "no gracias" and they move on. Wifi was shockingly good - we even got it on the beach. We LOVED our time here - took one day to go into Bucerias and you can also go into Sayulita. There is a hotel shuttle on certain days to do so, but we took a cab and also the public bus. Entertainment shows at night were very good too - make sure to check them all out. Fabulous resort. Wonderful food, beautiful beach and pool. This resort is impeccably clean both inside and out. The rooms are nice and the grounds and pools are lovely. We had a great week getting away from the frigid Canadian temperatures. Overall it was one of the best resorts we've been to in the Caribbean-Varaderro, Cayo Coco, PV, Mazatlan, DR.
The staff are excellent & always very friendly. They seemed very happy to be working & being able to assist with your vacation experience.
The cleaning staff are their cleaning rooms & then helping in evenings if you need more towels or refreshments.
It would be nice if there was a self service refreshment area for pop & beer as I've seen at another resort. Just a small thing I know, but there are hostess' going around the pool & serving drinks
There's a golf course, Litibu, right next to the property which is a huge plus. Bell boy will whisk you over to the course when necessary.
Everything is paid directly at resort through the concierge as we get preferred rates. Two playing options are available: regular fee at $1780 pesos or $1180 pesos for twilight (>1pm). Golf course isn't overly busy, but fee includes everything you may need with golf carts, driving range & waters. I brought my own clubs since it was free through our tour provider but they do offer rentals clubs at hotel. It's not a big fancy resort course, in fact it's owned and operated by the government. Greg Norman layout but just a little rough around the edges-carts with broken brakes, old range balls, grass quality. I would rate the course 3.5 stars out of 5. [Details]

Lovely resort, with some of the friendliest staff we have ever experienced at a resort. The waitresses at the beach bar we by far the best , friendly, and hardworking gals we have come across. Même a 1 h de l'aéroport l'hôtel playa mita est accueillant par sa propreté son look chic ,beauté du site,piscine et le service de tous impeccable digne d'un 5 étoiles.
Les chambres sont bien et très propre avec un service de nuit la salle de bain aurait besoin d'un petit rafraîchissement mais rien d'épouvantable.
Pour les hommes ,pour tout les restaurants à la carte rien de formel même si on dit d'avoir un pantalon long , si vous avez un bermudas propre et sandale se sera accepté .
Le buffet est excellent c'est certain qu'il y a une thématique pour chaque soir , pour notre cas qui ne mange pas de poisson ce n'est pas la thématique idéal ce soir là ,par contre j'ai reçu plusieurs commentaires que c'était excellent moi-même ayant observé des pinces de crabe ,sushi ,moules, grosses crevettes etc.
Les restos a la carte correct sans Wow mais toujours avec un bon service le plus décevant pour nous fut le français il n'avait plus de steak NEW YORK on nous a dit qu'il avait été remplacé par un filet mignon qui n'était pas le cas, ça ressemblais à une macreuse pleine de tirasse.
L'animateur de la piscine est extra de plus c'est le même qui s'occupe des spectacles du soir qui est très sympathique les spectacles sont divertissant avec de bonne voie et bon danseur .
Les drinks sont de qualités mais sans un WOW comparativement avec d'autres hôtel visité.
La plage est rocailleuse et très agité mais nous le s'avions ce n'est pas l'idéal pour nous, mais pour des jeunes qui aiment les vagues se serait bien avec une eau chaude on peu aussi prendre de bonne marche sur la plage qui est toutefois longue mais pas en largeur.(Beaucoup de vendeur sur la plage).
En gros je vous conseille fortement cette hôtel et nous y retournerons surement qui pourtant ne retourne jamais au même hôtel.

We had a really good experience at this hotel. Spent 7 days there and felt well taken care of. They had lots of fun activities to participate in and fun shows in the evening. We enjoyed our stay at this resort.we had a ocean front junior suite.the room was very clean and we were well looked after as far as house keeping and restocking fridge.our room was also refreshed in the evenings as well. A high end resort with good food, service and amenities.
I would come back here just for the beach! Long, private and the ocean is clean! There are vendors but they are not agressive. Swam in the ocean almost every day. If you prefer, pools and activities await you.
There were over 400 people here but we never felt it! Very airy and lots of space.

If you golf, Litubu is right across the street!
