Hilton Cancun All Inclusive

Pros- -beautiful, very clean, new"ish", gorgeous decorations -rooms VERY spacious and beautiful, along with comfy beds -food was delicious everywhere on the resort -everyone LOVED the taco bars throughout the day -drinks were delicious, and they had a ton to choose from (good quality liquor/top shelf) -never a line up for food, even though the hotel was at capacity (the food stations around the hotel were plenty) -great variety of food choices, a la carte restaurants were awesome -tons of towels available all day (no towel "cards") -close to the airport (first drop off on the shuttle), but not disrupted by sounds of planes at all Things they need to work on- The MAIN drawback, in my opinion, was the line ups/reservation process for making dinner reservations. They have an app, but it didn't really work for anyone and IF it worked, you could only reserve for 6 people (so not good for larger families/parties). So, they made you line up beginning at 7:00 a.m. to make reservations. I arrived at 6:50 a.m. one day and there was already a line up of 10 people. Another day I got there at 7:30 and had to stand in line for 50 minutes, wasting part of the morning. They would only allow you to make reservations in person for that night and the next (48 hours in advance), so we had to line up a lot throughout the week. It ended up all working out and we got to eat where we wanted to eat, but it was a serious pain. This hotel is not for "beach" people. There are no chairs on the beach as the hotel is built almost directly right up against it. You can walk along the beach, but it is a newer area and there aren't hotels adjacent, so they recommended not leaving our beach area. We did walk the beach and it was fine and we felt safe. This is no fault of the hotel, just the weather, but the waves were rocking so swimming was dangerous in the ocean. The pools were chilly and there is not a "swim up bar". Again, it wasn't a problem because we still swam and had plenty of drinks, but for some people they might not like no swim up bar. I've never been to an all-inclusive without one, so that was a little weird. The hotel is great for younger kids with the splash area. It didn't have the same kind of "activities" or "games" that we have seen at other hotels, especially for older teens or early 20's. They had pool yoga and one pool volleyball game, but no interactive games or entertainment staff around, etc. The staff were friendly enough, but not interactive or fun as we have seen at other resorts. Nice Property, Disappointing Experience

, Richmond Hill, ON

We stayed at Hilton Cancun, an All-Inclusive Resort last week as a family of four. While the property itself is attractive and the food quality is generally good, the overall experience was undermined by poor maintenance, limited amenities, rigid reservation processes, and inconsistent service. For a resort positioned at this price point and under the Hilton brand, expectations were not met. Way too many people for the footprint of the resort. Many basic aspects of the guest experience felt unnecessarily difficult—from securing pool seating and restaurant reservations to obtaining basic room amenities. These issues collectively detracted from what should have been a relaxing all-inclusive vacation. [Details]

The strong points
Beautiful property with a modern design. Food quality was good across the buffet and restaurants, especially the tacos. When accessible, à-la-carte dining offered solid food and presentation.
The weak points
Poor pool maintenance and safety issues, limited drink options, weak entertainment, and overcrowding. Restaurant reservations were inconvenient, housekeeping was inconsistent, and front desk service lacked flexibility and guest care.

Beautiful, modern, sleek.

, Toronto, ON

We loved this hotel and really enjoyed our stay here. The modern, sleek, and stylish layout and décor was very much appreciated as well as how clean everything was kept.

The room and bathroom lacked storage. There was not nearly enough room in the closet or enough clothes hangers. I wish they had put more thought into the design for storage in the bathroom.

We travelled with our 5 month old and 2.5 year old and was a little disappointed that the hours in the Kids' Zone was limited for children under 4.

My only one other complaint, is on the part of the guests. I was shocked and very angry at how much waste occurs with people not finishing their food. It's terrible. With the cost of food and those who are not fortunate enough to afford to eat these days, it was so disheartening to see how much people wasted.
It's too bad there weren't policies put into place to charge people if they leave food behind or at the very least, remind people about the effects of food waste. [Details]

Advertised as 5 star but scrapes in as 4 star

In general, the hotel was nice as you would expect with a newly built hotel. However, this makes it surprising when you see cracked and uneven tiling near the pool deck, lack of guard railings in certain places where a kid can just walk into the abyss, features of the kids splash park either broken or not turned on, and generally shoddy workmanship on the room interior design.

The staff are pleasant, however customer service is lacking. Food will be delivered at the Italian restaurant, but no forks to eat. It takes three times to ask for a fork before one arrives and waiters disappear for 20 minutes at a time while you are dehydrated. Steaks are overcooked relative to customer request i.e a medium cooked steak will come out well done, rare will be medium. The cocktails are sugary pre-mixes but the beers are great. My hand was crushed in my room door, as the hinge on the door cause the door to slam shut rapidly. Mini bar fridge in room is warm even when set to coldest setting. Room was not properly cleaned ever, and often towels were not replaced. If you order a drink from a waiter at the pool or in the lobby, it will take an hour to arrive, it is best just to go to bar. Ordered room service a couple of times and it never showed up. Request baby seats at buffet from staff, they never deliver and you have to get your own or nothing will happen. [Details]

The strong points
Beach, pool and splash park. Kids club is great.
The weak points
Timeliness in staff service at restaurants. Rooms are poorly designed with little privacy to go to bathroom; bathroom is cramped in near front door, bathroom has glass walls which is odd; air con mixed with outside air from balcony creates swampy moistnes
Sanitary measures
Had to ask several times from towels to be sent to room after cleaners did not replace; cleaner did not replace tissue paper; water was not restocked on at least one occasion, public areas are clean
