Generally speaking, it was a wonderful trip for our family of 4 adults. We chose Select (adult only), which was quite a wise choice. At first we didn't know we could check in at Select's front desk, we waited in the lobby at the entrance for at least 40 minutes, this was, hmm, not quite comfortable. So if you book Select, just do let one of the staff know and they will guide you to the right place. After that, everything went very smoothly.
The staff were very friendly, we never encountered any rude situation there. Most of them can speak English quite well, so totally no problem in communication.
The sandy beach was soft, but the waves could be very terrifying sometimes, so be very cautious.
For food: For general customers, they would need to make reservations for the special dinner restaurants, but for Select customers, you can just go and show your Select bracelet, it's that simple. For the three special restaurants, we preferred Hermann and Luigi, for Sea Scape, hmm, it's ok but we all thought the dishes were a bit over-salty and it took longer for the dishes to be ready. For buffet, everyday there was some changes on the menu, but not too much. Luckily none of us were picky, so we have no negative opinions regarding the buffet food.
We were quite satisfied with the two pools at Select area, most of the time very quiet and shady. We saw staff cleaning the floor near pool area almost everyday, but not sure how often they clean the pool, the water looks fine, but there was sand on the bottom, which was quite understandable.
The room was ok, A/C was quite efficient and not very loud (if you choose low fan), the only thing that could be improved was the water: water pressure was low, it took a long time for the hot water to come, the first morning there we got no water, but the problem was fixed after a call to the front desk.
For Wifi, sometimes in the room, you would need to find the "sweet spot" if you want to watch some videos, otherwise the speed was just ok. However, we found the the places near the pool outside of the buffet restaurant was super good, so we spent much time there :).
It's raining almost everyday, but came and stopped quickly, and the temp was like 28-30, so no worries, just wait for a bit, or get soaked, don't let the rain spoil your holiday. [Details]

This was my second visit to this resort. I was travelling with my adult daughter this time. I love this resort, the location is perfect. The resort is always spotless and well stocked. Beach is great unfortunately it was red flagged a few days while we were there so had to spend time at the pool and if the weather wasn't perfect it's a short walk to town. I would definitely go back. [Details]

Great resort, stayed in Select and wouldn't book anything else. Nice Gardenview room with a decent view of the water as well. Scenery beautiful. Food was very good. Probably the best service team I've ever encountered. Beach was lovely, waves rough at times (but that's part of why we chose Puerto Plata). [Details]

Too many smokers. Basically couldn't get away from it other than in Herman's. Everywhere else is open and the smoke would drift in. People smoking on the beach, in the pool, in the ocean. We won't return because of it

Select at Casa Marina was amazing as always. The staff is always friendly and fast. The rooms are large and clean, 1 thing this last trip seemed the king beds are very firm ( usually very comfortable). The view is stunning. People need to remember this is not a 5* resort, but they will treat you like your at a 10* [Details]

It was a nice resort. Beautiful scenery. Staff could have been more friendly. Stay away from the excursion guy named Jose. He is a scammer. Lies about what you get included in your excursion. The fishing boat ride was HELL. Thought we were going to die. Boat was gross. Water on bathroom floor which is questionable if it was really water. Two days in a row people screams at JOse for scamming them. He says he's been at the resort for 22 years and has children across the word. Disgusting. Hot showers was hit and miss. Miss on most days. Food was good. Mexican restaurant was really good. Bartender was awesome. Waitress not friendly at all. Overall experience I would rate 3 out of 5. [Details]

This is suppose to be an "adults only" resort. Everyday there were children on the beach. The beach was closed the first day and remained yellow flag for the rest of the stay. Guests reserve chairs by the pool for hours, even though they were not in them. The shower spray was minimal to no existent with no hot water. The internet was intermittent and delayed. The reception staff smile and nod but do nothing about your issues asking you to come back multiple times to talk with someone else. The only true good food on the resort is in the International Restaurant. [Details]

Disappointing. Issues with hot water and water pressure. We were assigned the wrong rooms and had to be moved. The staff don't seem to want to be there, unfriendly and unhelpful. The amenities are not as advertised and don't pay extra for "adults only" because it is not truly adults only. [Details]

Room assignment was terrible. We paid for an ocean view and could only see a sliver through the weird keyhole in the roof over the sliding doors. No balcony, just a railing across the patio door.
On a good day, shower water was slightly warm but mostly cool. We had water but others in our group did not. Buffet food was very limited, boring and bland. They kept running out of the good deserts and flavored yogurt. No ice cream at any meal.
Guests would reserve pool loungers very early in the morning but not actually use them till after lunch. I felt unwelcome and afraid to use a chair because guests seemed to think they owned the loungers.
We were on adults only side and supposed to have a private beach but no one stopped guests from family side from walking through adults only section with their kids and using private beach for the day.
All round terrible resort. Will never go back and will never recommend.
