We were there for two weeks in February. The hotel is great with a couple of pools and excellent friendly staff. We were in a Level Bungalow. Very spacious and clean, close to a pool and the beach, which is fantastic. The food at the hotel is diverse something for everyone at the buffet. The four different theme restaurants that require a reservation for dinner provide a "great evening out." The weather wasn't great, but the friendly staff made up for that. If you are a golfer, it's the only hotel in Cuba with access to a golf course. Overall just a great place. [Details]

I was super impressed by the beauty of this hotel. The view from the main lobby to the beach is a 14/10!! The resort was set up to meet with other travelers with many areas to have a quiet conversation. The beach, the deck, the pool, restaurants, the main lobby, the bars and walks along the beach. The staff are pleasant and hard working. Omelet and meat grill had fantastic workers. Next year I may stay for 2 weeks. There were no shortages of beer, wine, eggs, meat, water and other items but I heard that was the case at other resorts close by. [Details]

Lovely, impressive setting, turquoise water, Sand, Palm trees, sunshine, architecture, amenities. Food exceeded our expectations for Cuba. Nightly activities were enjoyable. Just a great place to RELAX!!
The weak points
Good food but need to add more powerful HEAT lamps at food stations. Fix elevators not all working. WIFI spotty and drops need boosters on deck and pool. The RED flag goes up very quickly on the beach when waves are up, limiting access to water.

Love this place

I have been coming to Cuba for many years and specifically to Melia Las Americas. It was the best hotel in Cuba then, and STILL IS.
We just returned from a 2 week vacation and upgraded to the “LEVEL” (a bungalow with exclusive benefits).
While the temperatures in Alberta were -43C, we were basking in the sun and surf.
Melia Las Americas also has one of the nicest beaches along the coastline, is shark free and most importantly to us, ADULTS only! 
For those golfers out there, it is the only hotel that offers direct access to Varadero Golf Club.
A group of 8 guys from Vancouver were in heaven LOL.
We did a couple of excursions as Cuba is one of the safest places to visit and Melia Las Americas has always been our first choice. [Details]

Beach is great, you can almost step down directly from the lobby. Service everywhere was super!
The weak points
There is a piano in the lobby - but no piano player for the whole week! Would love to listen to some music or Cuban singers in the late afternoon/early evening!

I have just completed my 4th stay at this amazing resort. From the time I arrived until my departure, the service has been top-notch. The staff is the main reason why I return. I usually stay in the hotel in a ''prime ocean view'' room for, of course, the view and the quality of the accommodation. There are other options in the '' Level '' category. The grounds are well manicured and beautiful. The cleaning staff is hardworking to keep this place spotless. I haven't found a single area that was not clean.

The food and drinks. Fresh and tasty. There is a lot to choose from. A buffet for breakfast, lunch and diner. Also, the resort has four à la carte restaurants available upon making a reservation. There are additional options for guests who are in the "Level" category.

The staff is attentive and dedicated to service excellence. I have only Kudos for all of them. A good variety of daytime activities are conducted at the main pool and the beach area. Evening entertainment is varied and conducted at the main terrace.

I love this adults-only resort for its superior quality and awesome staff. They all get ''five-stars'' from me. Thank you for making my vacation a success one more time! [Details]

All of the food during our visit was plentiful and delicious. Anything that we could think of was available. The tropical drinks and coffee were great. The room was beautiful and the bed super comfortable. The beach was absolutely stunning, and the sailing was amazing. The hotel lobby, with it's view of the ocean still took my breath away every day !
The singers, dancers and musicians at lunch and in the evenings were absolutely INCREDIBLE! We were VERY impressed with their talents !!

Overall, i would rate this resort a 4.5 out of 5. You cant get enough of that spectacular view. The resort is beautiful and very well maintained. The beach is gorgeous and very walkable . The beach bar was central to the beach and the main pool. Drink selections were very poor.. The staff at the beach bar and lobby bar are very friendly. Pool absolutely amazing. The food at the buffet although repetitive, you can change it up everyday with many options. Buffet staff work hard and are very accommodating. This resort had the cleanest washrooms i've ever seen. . Entertainment was good but not over the top. Not a fan of all the stairs in the outside area , but won't stop me from returning. Elavator was a nice surprise . The beach has plenty of loungers to accommodate all guests which was never a problem for us. Loved the location of the beach bar. plus they serve you on the beach. Selection not great. Staff and Lobby bar great service

Beds need to be upgraded to fullsize queen or kings as per reservations instead of twin beds pushed together in the classic rooms. The International, very slow service,menu needs changing food is awful, overall the lack of variety of alcholic beverages

I enjoyed my stay very much! The staff was friendly, the variety of restaurants was great, My favorite restaurants were the Japanese and Italian, the buffet was great as well I used it for breakfast. There was a lack of condiments but that didn't bother me however I would bring pepper next time and Bailys for your coffee. I found the beds fairly comfortable I'd rate them 7 out of 10. I highly suggest bringing your own hairdryer if you use one as the hairdryers there are stuck on the wall and the cord is short, didn't like that but I managed, very minor. However the plug one morning wouldn't stay in the socket and my front door batteries went dead and I couldn't get in to my suite however the repairman came and fixed that quite promptly. I am a gin drinker and I had to upgrade my room to get gin, which I did found annoying but that suite had 2 floors 2 balcony's with a later 2pm checkout (which I was thankful for as I golfed the morning I was leaving) it was 350 USD for 6 nights. The resort has free golf but you do have to pay for the cart which is 44 CAD and I rented golf clubs which were 33 CAD (I loved the Golf club which are Taylormade) the course is awesome too!! The beach was incredibly beautiful as is the whole resort. I would definitely go back and plan on it. The WI_FI connection was sketching and iPhones struggle there I have a Samsung and it was ok mostly. The process of going home in the airport was a 1 out of 10 I stood inline 3 straight hours, the first lineup was to get you boarding pass, the next lineup was for passport and that Visa (save that Visa you need it to come home) the next lineup was on the tarmac to board, it took all of the time to the minute to go home after you are dropped off at the airport, absolutely horrible. I suggest pay for priority status for the plane you board first then they start with the back of the plane seats and up to the front. I also suggest taking a taxi yourself to get there earlier to get through faster. It really was horrible standing in the heat and humidity for 3 hours solid! [Details]

I rented a convertible for the day for a trip to Havana it was 380$ CAD came with the tour guide who was so awesome I recommend that highly

You cannot get Canadian or US money anywhere in Cuba so bring lots and have small bills such as 5$ bills. In some areas and items you cant use pesos so don't get a ton of Pesos, which btw you will be able to buy on the bus from the airport to the hotel.

We did a family vacation to this resort for the first time. There were six of us and we booked 3 rooms. We haven't been to Cuba in several years as we had been disappointed with the resorts and food in the past but decided to try it again AND very happy we did. This resort did not disappoint!
It's a smaller resort than any we've been to but that was a definite plus. The food was great, the beach amazing and the overall atmosphere very relaxing and enjoyable.
Some of the rooms were a little dated but everything was clean and I'm working order. No complaints from any of our group.
I booked the beach romantic dinner for two and it was exceptional.

Amazing all inclusive vacation! Would recommend!

My boyfriend and I traveled here in Feb 2023 to celebrate our anniversary. Melia Las Americas surprised us and exceeded our expectations! We had the "Level" upgrade and it was so worth it for the small extra price. We were greeted and checked in quickly and with ease. A bell boy was provided to bring our bags to the room and although at first, our key cards did not work he was quick to get them fixed and get us into our room. The rooms were IMMACULATE. We stayed in the Garden Level Suite and to our surprise had two floors! On the first floor was a bathroom, dining area, walkout patio, and kitchenette/fridge - which was replenished with coffee, teas, pops, beers, and water bottles daily. There are stairs that lead up to the next floor in which there is a full-size bathroom with shower, tub, bidet, toilet, and full vanity including hair dryer, iron, and ironing board. Towels were replenished daily with the option to ask for more if needed. We had a full king-sized bed, another living area upstairs, and a walkout balcony that overlooked the garden, golf course, and ocean. There is a full-size closet with drawers as well. The cleaning services were amazing and there is a do not disturb option if you wish to not have your room cleaned that day. The grounds of this resort are incredible. The main lobby is well spread out with lots of sitting areas and the view from the lobby steps down to the ocean is BREATHTAKING. The beach was stunning, with white sand, and blue water, and never a problem finding somewhere to sit even if you are not down early in the morning. The food - genuinely surprised us! The buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner included a variety of options. Although some of the produce is not the same as in Canada we never went hungry. Some of the options at breakfast included: an omelet station, fried egg station, bacon/sausages/hashbrowns, toast, cold cuts, cereal, yogurt, fruits, salads, sweet treats, pancakes/french toast and YES there are condiments - hot sauce, ketchup, dressings, etc. Lunch/dinner at the buffet varied from day to day but included various options including fries, pizza, sandwiches, rice, paella, lots of meat options, salads, fish, pasta bar, etc. The 24-hour snack bar is great as well with burgers, sandwiches, french fries, etc! They also make an incredible iced coffee or cappuccino! We visited Il Limoncello for dinner twice on our trip (the Italian Al-A Carte) and were so pleased with the food and service! On our first night, we were seated outside and were able to watch the sunset over the water. If you want to be seated outside the earlier reservations are best! My boyfriend and I had: bruschetta, pizza, carbonara pasta, meatballs, antipasto, and stuffed chicken. You can also order room service 24 hours from the snack bar for a meal when you wish! The pools are well kept and rarely packed or difficult to find a seat. The best part of our trip despite all the amazing amenities is the staff hands down. We would like to thank Elvis at the beach bar always tending to us (even without asking), and the wonderful buffet staff they made our experience so wonderful and always smiling!! We would like to add that the resort and the nearby Plaza (mall) do not accept CUP. They accept credit cards, and cash (USD, EURO, CAD). Some days the machines worked and other days it was down so we suggest bringing cash in your home currency and credit card. If you wish to change to CUP I would do so in small amounts and you may tip bartenders, staff, maids, etc in that currency. However, purchasing at the resort cannot be done using CUP. The GOLF COURSE is amazing. The views are beyond breathtaking and even if you are not an avid golfer it would be worth it to play a round at the course.

Overall, our experience at Melia Las Americas was 10/10 and we would absolutely come back! Thank you for making our anniversary trip one to remember. [Details]

Holiday Was OK But Too Short

My husband and I have been to this resort more than 14 times. We come here because of the wonderful staff, lovely accommodations and for my husband, the proximity to the Varadero Golf Course. Quality and variety of food has declined since pandemic. Found some foods too salty. No spoon, sugar, whitener or tea bags in room, just 2 coffee pods. No entertainment in lobby. Bed in bungalow too firm.

Beautiful hotel with live entertainment and friendly staff.
I highly recommend purchasing a Level package it is definitely worth it for the private pool with swim up bar, delicious catered meals, and gorgeous rooms.
The Japanese restaurant was fantastic with food cooked right in front of you, and the Level restaurant was great for sit down breakfasts, lunches and dinners.
Bring a pocket full of $5 bills for tips (no change, it is unusable there) I brought US $1s as well but I wouldn't next time, they love their Canadians <3 [Details]

My experience was fantastic!! Such a gorgeous resort! The entertainers are so amazing! Adrian has the most infectious energy! You see him smile and you just want to be around him all the time! He does Yoga, Thai Chi, Aqua Gym, Beach Volleyball, games, dance lessons where you just cannot take your eyes off of him because his Cuban rhythm is so perfect! Need to learn basic Spanish? Fantastic vacation, again...

This resort has become my absolute favorite after traveling through the Caribean for the last 25 years. This time I was visiting with two of my friends and everyone was very happy with the reception, service, friendliness of the people working there and comfort in their hospitality.We also met some very lovely people there aside from the hosts. I sugested to my cousin to visit here also and he just come back on the 3rd of June having stayed there for 8 days. My friend and I have already made reservations for October 12 and are counting the days impatiently. Can't wait to see everyone again, Manuel (manager extraordinaire), Karenia (ultra room organizer), Elsie and Jorgi (entratainment specialists), and others just as nice and just as valluable. We'll be baaaaack...... The wonderful people of Cuba are doing a tremandous job considering the extremely unfair and inhumane, cruel embargos and restrictions constantly thrown at them by their neighbours the USA. We had an amazing experience once again at Melia las Americas . Things changed post Covid but we had food all the time and not so bad for choice .
Staff was amazing once more. Only thing is they need to have more animation at night . Location of this hotel is great. We stayed in the renovated room on the 4th floor.. just gorgeous with ocean view . We will definitely return . Could not ask for a better vacation [Details]

Great for golf and beach, food is mediocre

If you're looking for golf and beach this is the place to be. Golf course a short 3 min. Walk from your hotel. Hotel is directly on the beach. Food can be a little frustrating since it is not available all the time. Buffet hours are very limited and other offerings are sparse and service is unreliable. In fact, it takes a few days to learn to curate your meal but once you figure it out there's something that you can find to eat at every mealtime. Snacks are limited. In fact, experienced visitors at this hotel all brought their own snacks, hot sauce, steak spice and the occasional jar of peanut butter! [Details]

Amazing stay at Melia las Americas

My friend and I braved a trip to Cuba and were more then happy we did. Never mind the Covid tests and vaccinatiion proofs, that is a giiven and went without any problems, but staying at Melia las Americas was a most wonderful experience. I got the marvelous room 3306 facing the ocean. Everything about the room was just great but it was even more satisfying due to a great service and company of lovely Karenia who made sure I had everything I needed. She is a very capable, friendly and personable lady and it was a joy to get to know her. I also must mentionn Miriela and Marichal at "Barbacoa" restaurant. Miriela is a marvel, she remembered all that I and my friend usualy ordered and was on top of every wish we had before we even voiced it. Marichal was also very atentive and made great cappuchinos. And then there is the tireless entertainment crew at the beach, namely Jorgi, Elsie and the beautifull blue eyed young lady whose name I fergot. I meant to go last day to visit with all of them and thank them one more time but was unable to, time runs out faster then we think. I will make up for it next time, soon I promisse. A big thanks to the young manager, Manuel who made sure to see to every detail in running this wonderful resort. When I praised him in the dining room I should have mentioned that it is saying a lot when your crew is often singing while runing around working. Cuba is my destination always and it will remain my destination for the remainder of my life. I wish them all well and will be there again in January or February 2022. Everything, people first. Beach is unbelievable beautifull, the ocean was lovely and warm. We even had wonderfull weather.Food was plentifull, not the usual wide selection but plenty lovely food if you are not inclined to waste and are respectfull.

Nothing, I had all I needed and can't wait to be back.
Sanitary measures
All was done to keep the guests and the hosts safe, masks were worn outside of our rooms. Test was done on arrival and another 72 hours before departure. All was profesional and easily accessable. No problems of any kind.

THINGS TO BRING (bug repellent, refillable container for the beach since the cups are very small, night light for the bathroom and your own face cloth)
RECOMMENDATIONS
Put a towel on the chair next to the beach at 7:00
Get a pad from the beach clubhouse to put on our beach lounger
Go to the mall to buy wine in order to bring it in the à la carte restaurant
Ask for another blanket and will receive it immediately
Tip the servers if you want anything done they get a whole lot friendlier
Ask for extra foam on the bed since they are hard
Put all valuable items in your carry on
Make reservation for the à la carte restaurant from the day you arrive otherwise they will tell you its all booked
Change small amount of your money at the reception
ROOM Check-in time: 15:00. Check-out time: 12:00
Yesumaris is the person to see front desk if the room is not to our satisfaction
The first floor rooms had a bit of a smell, second floor rooms not so great, third floor rooms are very nice as well as the hallway and the view on the third floor is great. We had room 3103 king size bed, view of the golf course and water, it was very clean and would highly recommend it

Are very close to the door of the resort
Saturday and Sunday more locals on the beach this would be a good day to go out of the hotel
No sea weeds
No harassment by vendors on the beach

DRINKS
Cristal Cuban beer is good and cold
Cocktail are strong
Lobby bar has more variety of alcohol
A sweet wine called Legendario is terrible
Pina colada is made from powder
PLAZA
plaza next door (again, in walking distance) for casual shopping and some live entertainment.
GOLF RESTAURANT
The 2 minute walk from the hotel lobby to the Xanadu (DuPont) Mansion at the golf course, for a drink in the lounge or dinner is definitely a todo. (veal came with a purée of mashed potatoes, vegetable and well presented)

-The lady who makes reservations Angela was so kind and helped to coordinate our à la carte which was no easy task with so many of us and she did so with a smile.

The rooms were very clean, and maid service daily. The main common areas were also kept clean. The Beach was beautiful but there wasn't enough covered areas to avoid the sun, and we paid a premium to have special access to an area of the beach, but unauthorized people were using it and the staff did not enforce the rule that it was for premium guests only. Almost no poolside or beach service, the drinks were served in tiny glasses and were mostly ice. Food at the restaurants came in tiny portions, the buffet food was horrible, and the staff expected tips for everything.

Great hotel and service

We've been to this hotel several times, easily our favourite hotel in Varadero.
Lots of amenities, numerous daily beach activities, water sports and evening entertainment. Nightly theatre shows, evening dancing with live music or DJ's on the patio overlooking the ocean, as well as beach parties.
Rooms and beds are very comfortable, food is excellent(very important to us) with the restaurants being well kept and managed. We've seen numerous upgrades and changes over the last 4 years, including significant room upgrades, lobby refresh, restaurant upgrades, added premium Level lounges and concierge beach services, etc.
This in an adults 18 hotel, beautiful beach front, surrounded by the golf course. A number of free rounds of golf are usually included with your stay. Golf course is stunning with several unique holes. The hotel amenities and helpful staff keep us coming back. Call out to a few of the many staff that made our last last stay enjoyable: Nelson- classy professional demeanour, Raul- hardest working guy on the beach, Allen- always engaging, and Elsy,Amed and all of the entertainment folks. Best Golf & Beach Resort in the Caribbean

Visited Melia Oct. 21 to 28, 2019 and most recently Jan. 18 to 25, 2020. If you are looking for an amazing golf and/or beach experience and a resort that is packed with Canadians, this is the right resort for you! In October my husband and I had a great week celebrating my 50th birthday. We golfed together on my bday, and he golfed a few mornings while I slept in, enjoyed my cappuccino from Robleza on the beach, soaked up some sun, read my book, and then met him for lunch at La Robleza. It's a gorgeous restaurant patio overlooking the pool and ocean. Rachel served us daily and she was superb. We enjoyed the tastiest white fish fillet and grilled veggies. Pina coladas, Havana Specials (pineapple and rum), white wine and the best champagne (can't get enough of it!). The food at Melia is awesome if you are used to eating healthy! Lots of beef, pork, chicken, fish, veggies and salad to choose from. Great variety of cheeses and the bread is to die for. Made daily and no preservatives. The pizza is super yummy too. The hamburgers served at the beach bar and restaurant are so good – two moist patties topped with a fried egg, a slice of ham, tomato and lettuce on a homemade bun! It's just as good if not better than the same burger you can order in Canada at The Works. We had a beautiful room overlooking the 15th hole on the golf course and on my birthday they left us a bucket of champagne in our room to celebrate after our round of golf. Our visit in January was much the same but with friends to enjoy more golf and more champagne of course! If you love a challenging golf course with amazing views, you will love the Melia Varadero Golf Course adjacent to Melia Las Americas. Great weather and great experiences. Before and after dinner we enjoyed the bar lounge where the staff put on their own show in the evenings – what we call the “Raul Show”. We laughed so hard our faces hurt. He does this silent film routine behind the bar that coincides with the singing and dancing performances in the lobby. He had us in stitches during the opera performances. Don't ever stop being you Raul – because you are the best. During both trips we upgraded to the Level, where you get quite a few perks – such as pre-booked restaurant reservations for 7:30 p.m. at the four restaurants – Sakura, La Robleza, Arcada and Il Limoncello. Also enjoyed our own private pre-dinner drinks at the Level Lounge where we sipped on champagne and enjoyed premium spirits. We golfed each morning, enjoyed the beach all afternoon, ate well each day, laughed, drank and danced the night away to the band in the lobby. Highly recommend a week or more at Melia Las Americas!
