This was our 4th time in this hotel and after 3 years we came back again. Since our last stay at this hotel I would say things wen't a bit downhill. Variety of food seems to be less attractive and really irritating thing is that lobster and steak dinner offered for an additional price. This is not a cheap all inclusive resort and in my opinion this is wrong marketing move. The other irritating thing are internet cards that you have to buy and every time you want to go on line you have to enter 12 digit card number and than 12 digit PIN. We missed previous hotel manager Bernard who was always there chatting with guests and greeting them. In all, we had very pleasant vacation exactly what we were hopping for. That terrace in front of the hotel and view that offers while you drinking your first morning espresso in unbeatable as well as the beach and warmth of the ocean. [Details]

Regarding the food, we do respect your opinion; however let me say it is almost exactly the same staff and ingredients. As usual all meals are freshly prepared every day and the menu is thoroughly selected to satisfy the varied tastes of our clientele. Nevertheless I will take a closer look into this matter along with my executive Chef. The lobster and steak dinner with extra charge, it is refered to a more big lobster and a diferent steak corte. About internet ,fortunately we have now acces in the whole hotel as a positive point that we don't had 3 years ago. 1st time in Cuba

This hotel exceeded our expectations. Never a shortage of food and tasted amazing! There was plenty to choose from always. The grounds were perfect and clean. Never missed hot water or air conditioning The hotel staff were amazing and fun to be with from Julio who played a different character every night and who made everyone laugh. There was also Bracken and Amed who did an amazing job to keep everyone entertained, Elena who served us at the buffet everyday with a beautiful smile and made sure we had all we needed.
Iran at the front desk who extended my check out time until 4 pm....thank you! Everyone works hard there and are super friendly.

7th Stay at Melia Las Americas

We stayed in the Level bungalows and it was truly amazing, as it has been in our previous stays.

The servers at the level section on the beach, Nelson and Sergio are the best and most attentive to your needs.

The staff at the level concierge made check in easy and provided great services for our entire stay.

The entertainment staff on the beach Amed, Braskin, Etienne and Betsy (hope I got the names right) kept the fun going all day and night long. They all did a fantastic job getting everyone involved and having fun.

Our maid, May Lin who kept our room clean throughout our stay did a great job, really liked the towel origami she did.

Melia Las Americas has the most beautiful beaches and water that I have seen in my travels. The food at this resort is very good and has a great selection between the buffet and the A La Carte's.

We love this resort and we WILL return again. We enjoy the adult-only resort as the entertainment is excellent and geared towards adults. We love the beach there, the many pools, the rooms and the amenities. The food in the regular dining room has many choices and is very good and the 4 specialty restaurants on site offer more intimate dining with a variety including Japanese, Italian, European and BBQ. We love the fact that Golfing is included right next door, a short 5-minute walk away, on the lovely Varadero Golf Course, overlooking the ocean (cart rentals are charged). We like having the plaza next door (again, in walking distance) for casual shopping and some live entertainment. We highly recommend seeing the Buena Vista Social Club perform there on Wednesday evenings. The bus stop is a short walk from the resort lobby and allows you to travel to the town of Varadero or points eastward as a hop-on-hop-off trip. Very handy. My husband has brought his road bicycle on both of our last two stays and really enjoys riding throughout the peninsula. Lastly, and very importantly, we think the staff is phenomenal.... so professional and so friendly. They make guests feel welcome and relaxed. They make your holiday a pleasure from beginning to end! Lobby furniture is a "bit tired" but renovations have started at Melia Las Americas and it won't be long before the lobby will be updated. I also believe every room should include a night light in the bathroom so that a big light is not required.

Relaxing Sun Filled Holiday!

We stayed at Melia Las Americas Feb 1-8 & April 20-27 2019.
Both trips were fantastic! Lots of beautiful sun filled days relaxing in our Cabana at the main pool.
From the moment we arrived we were again made to feel welcome!
The bellman are always very friendly and look after our bags with ease.
Check was quick. We were upgraded to the Level and directed to a private check in area in the main lobby. The Level staff were welcoming and provided a general overview of the services offered by the Level.
Our accommodations were located in the main hotel with a beautiful view of the main pool and the beach! Thank you for the beautiful rooms!
We spent our days at the main pool (steps from the beautiful beach) where Nelson, Raul and team work hard to ensure the pool and surrounding areas are always sparking clean and are on hand to provide whatever you need. Always with a friendly attitude and lots of smiles!
We ate breakfast mainly in the buffet because of the wide variety of food offerings and the great staff that work there. There are made to order options as well as prepared options to enjoy a full breakfast.
We also frequently had dinner in the buffet, again because of the wide variety of food options, such as made to order grilling station and pasta station. We were well looked after by Yussimi, Castro and colleagues.
On both trips we had dinner at La Arcarda. This restaurant provides an intimate atmosphere, live music and professional staff that make your experience one that you won't forget! The food is cooked to your specification and is beautifully presented! An excellent experience that we would highly recommend to other guests!!
Our favorite place for lunch is the Snack Bar. Alberto is a very hard working professional person who understands service, is very organized and pays attention to the little details. He has mentored Elvis over the past few years and together they make a great team. The food is always fresh and very tasty. The service is second to none and always with a smile and welcoming attitude!!
The Lobby bar staff, Raul, Javi, Sam, Rosanna, and Belkis provide excellent service. They handle large crowds with ease, make excellent drinks, take pride in their work and as well spend time teaching the junior staff members. They are always pleasant, entertaining and funny! They make a great team!!
The Customer Service team, Zahily, Isis, Osmani, Karina and Yelanie are working behind the scenes to ensure that their guests experience the holiday they dreamed of! I admire their tireless efforts, high level of professionalism and their genuine care and attention to the guests. They are there to help guests with any issue they may have. You can find them on the mezzanine level in the main lobby.
We also see many renovations and upgrades taking place at the hotel. Areas such as the washrooms near the bungalows, the Italian restaurant upgrades as well as many of the bungalows are under a full renovation. We heard that the hotel plans to continue with renovations to all accommodations over the next few years. We noted over the past few years the increased level of attention directed toward general maintenance. The common areas and grounds are kept clean, outdoor lighting works, walking pathways are well marked and free from obstructions. All Public washrooms are clean and stocked with supplies. I would like to acknowledge the hard work of the lady (I think her name is Betty) who cleans the beach area washrooms; she does an exceptional job. You will often find here scrubbing and disinfecting the washroom floors, cleaning the toilets and shining the vanity counter. She is very friendly and takes pride in her work. She not only keeps the washrooms sparking, she also brightens up the vanity area beautiful flowers.
In closing this is a beautiful hotel, the location is excellent and the beach is amazing… but those things can be found anywhere. What makes this place so special? The PEOPLE who work at Las Americas!!
We will continue to make Las Americas our winter holiday destination and are looking forward to celebrating 25 years staying at this hotel in 2020!! [Details]

Fantastic Resort

This was my first time staying at the Melia Las Americas and I must say this is one of the best resorts I've stayed in Cuba it truly meets the Five Star Standard. The resort, the rooms, and services were excellent. The food was excellent. The staff is very helpful, attentive, professional and extremely friendly. The resort has an excellent beach and pools with many bars around with much entertainment. The presentation of this resort is extraordinary. I'd also like to bring to attention the Entertainment team at this resort especially Amed and Yadely, I couldn't thank them enough for their great hospitality, professionalism and positive energy that these two have and the hard work that they put in, it was truly amazing they are of great worth to this resort. MLA the very best

This was our 6th stay at the MLA and this time for 14 nights. We cannot say enough good things about the resort and its staff. We really enjoy it, in part because of its close proximity and unlimited golf at the Varadero Golf Course but also because of the entertainment, food and hospitality of the resort. The beach here is second to none.
The resort is adults only and has a great mix of patrons and the resort does an excellent job of providing entertainment from morning to late evening. During the day the activities at the beach/pool/gym and local music at the beach grill provide an added enhancement to a beach that is just fantastic.
The early evening entertainment at the outside patio or foyer is top notch with excellent violinists, sax players and pianists – a great way to have cocktail and relax before dinner.
And at 9:30pm every night there is the theatre that puts on a very entertaining show and is promoted all day by none other then Julio in his many costumes.
The food at the resort is super – four excellent a la carte restaurants – our favorite is the IL LIMONCELLO Not only for its selection of mediterranean food but we get there early for a table on the outside deck to watch the sunset. The Robleza is open air dining with Cuban cuisine – very good. La Arcada is a must with international cuisine and a live quartet adding to the atmosphere. The Japanese Sakura not only is good eating but super show cooking – an entertainment in itself.
While we really enjoy the a la carte the La Terraza or buffet has something for everyone – try the pasta bar or grill that will prepare fresh anything from fish to pork to chicken all with windows looking to the beach.
Our room at the hotel while dated has always been kept spotless this time by Rose-anna – while dated the beds were very comfortable and in a reception hosted by the new General Manager for returning guests, Francisco said they are into a 3 year renewal plan that includes the bungalows and main building – while hard to believe things can only get better. Our view of the water and golf course makes our day. The resort always appreciates returning guests and the new general manager seemed very approachable and introduced his entire management team to us.
The staff at the resort are very responsive and a pleasure to deal with.
Suffice to say the MLA will be our Cuban home for all the reasons I have mentioned. [Details]

Lives up to its reputation

Travelled with another couple both in are 30s. Both booked into level garden suites
Check in: arrived at 3am check in was quick.
Room: very spacious large rain shower bed more comfy than usual. Rain shower and glass blocks that let natural light in which is nice when your using shower but not so much when your trying to sleep in.
FOOD
Food was very good. Cook station with wide selection of meats along with pasta station. Only gripe was poor fruit selection/quality no salsa and lettuce seem to run out often
Service
Restaurants service was impeccable but bar was inconsistent. Drink service in the selected locations was also inconsistent made mistake of not bringing bubba mug
Entertainment
Most of it was top notch with great singing and instruments
Live music always good in lobby
Golf course is beautiful and was prepared to pay for cart/clubs

My mom , sister and myself went on our first girls trip together. We have never been anywhere like this together. Melia Las Americas stole our heart. Excellent week at the property. Cuba is never sold for the culinary experience - but the food was very good at this property. Great variety at both buffet and a la cartes - in particular, Arcada Restaurant. (yes, good steak in Cuba!) Stayed in a bungalow room and it was clean and modern - upgraded to the new service "The Level" and it was nice to have the additional perks, most notably the late check out. I understand from other guests the hotel rooms in the main building are in need of an upgrade. Service was good and of course, the staff were lovely and accommodating. The property was sold out during our week yet never felt crowded or busy. No problem ever getting chairs at the pools or beach. Everything was very clean, including the public bathrooms ie. by the pool. Enjoyed the various musicians playing in the lobby each night however I did not see any shows put on by the resort staff. This is not the place to go if you are wanting a party/club atmosphere. Many repeat guests and most come because of the included golf which is right next to the resort - a short walk away. I will not hesitate to sell the property. My ratings below are based on comparing this property to others' I have stayed at in Cuba as a 4 star in Cuba is not the same as a 4 star elsewhere - but I certainly have no complaints! [Details]

My husband and I have come to this beautiful hotel 3 times and will always return every year. The food is really good, the employees are friendly and professional, the hotel is very clean inside and out. All the a carte are good also.
We had an extra special time thanks to Amed who is in charge of entertainment, he always said hello and made people get involved in the activities and shows. Very polite .
Always assisting in getting a seat for the guests, helping the elderly down the stairs, we all appreciated his respect.

2019 Golf Getaway

I have been staying at the MLA (Adult Only) for many years and love it every time I return. Being an avid golfer I love the close proximity to the Varadero Golf Course (next door). The staff are so helpful and friendly. They treat you like family. There are a number of good restaurants on site but my favourite place to eat after golf is the Snack Bar where the food is great and Alberto provides excellent service and lots of laughs. We like to stay in the spacious bungalows so we have a little more privacy. There is a nice shopping centre just before the entrance to the resort where you can can stock up on the essentials (beer) if you drink like a Canadian (LOL). Our maid was excellent and made sure that we had fresh linens, towels, etc. each day. The beach is beautiful and the water is so blue. Our little piece of heaven and recommend this resort highly. The staff at Melia Las Americas are the most welcoming, smiling, genuine people. From the first day, we would get out of our room and walk down to have breakfast and felt like we were right at home with this lovely family of staff from morning till night.

Amazing!! My parents and I visited Cuba for the first time. We chose Varadero because we heard of the beautiful beaches it has. My mom and I were debating between Iberostar and Melia Las Americas. Almost last minute, like an instinct, we decided to chose Melia Las Americas and we are absolutely happy and satisfied that we did. Everything from the food to the people to the service and the hotel was excellent. As a first impression, when walking into the hotel, it is very clean, well-kept, and classy. It has an amazing view of the beach and ocean, and is in extreme proximity to the beach, which is what we were looking for. It is one of the closest hotels from the airport, about maximum 30 minutes with the bus, which pass by very fast as you enjoy the views of Cuba. The hotel has excellent wi-fi service, very cheap, for only 1 CUC, you have one hour to use your wi-fi card. The restaurants, we tried three La Arcada, Il Limoncello, and La Robleza, were excellent. The food really has its own flavour. I never once had problems with my stomach after eating it. Great variety and selection at the restaurants and the buffet. The terrase is perfect to sit at night, with music always happening, whether violin or flute or a band singing live. It was the perfect ambiance. Very classy and romantic and perfect for an adults-only resort. There is also a snack bar after the buffet is closed, for those that want to eat something past hours. The drinks are delicious!! Great service, always on time. Luis Enrique is one of the best servers!! This resort and its employees is now like a second home to us. We had an amazing time! Everyone, from the housekeeper Lily, to the barman Raul, to Daisy, Elena, and Emilio serving at the buffet, to Batista who always helped us with the beach chairs, to the entertainers Braskin, Amed, Etianne, Jose, and Roberto who always made us laugh and simply enjoy our time on vacation, to the dancers Diosmel and Lia, and to the showman Julio, absolutely everyone we met made our experience unforgettable. We truly felt like a family! I have never felt so welcome and cared for in a new place, amongst strangers, as I did in Cuba, at Melia Las Americas. We have nothing to complain about! The daily activities they have, from competitions to dance classes to aqua gym, are very fun! The nightly shows are amazing, especially the Saturday night fiestas! I can say that we will definitely be back again and will chose the same resort, not only because of the proximity to the beach, the privacy it offers but also entertainment and cleanliness, but mainly because of the people who truly deserve all the respect and appreciation for making our trip unforgettable. Amazing time in Paradise.

This is my second time to this hotel and they will for sure be seeing me for a 3rd a time. Overall I had such a great time at this resort. There is always something to do. You never really had to leave the resort to be entertained, every night there was an event and something interesting going on in the Lobby.
The staff specifically Amed and Brasskyn were awesome, polite, positive, vibrant and kept us entertained throughout our stay. Such great and hard working people.

Only disappointment I found was last time I came to this resort they would have this delicious garlic oil that they would flavor the meat at the meat station or put it your pasta. That was not offered anymore and that was a huge disappointment, that simple oil literally made the dishes go from a 6/10 to 8/10 if you like garlic.
Overall you will not be disappointment if you stay at this hotel. I had a great time and I'm sure if you booked you will too. [Details]

Anniversary beach trip

We renewed our 10 year wedding vows at Las Americas in 2017, and decided to do an anniversary vacation this year.
This was our 5th stay at Meliá Las Americas. We keep returning here because we know the food is solid, hotel is well kept, they have a great beach, and it's right on the golf course.This is an Adults only resort, so the beach and pools are relaxing. Lots of couples, weddings and groups.
Hotel has a currency exchange at the front desk, there are 4 a la carte restaurants, several pools, swim up bar and restaurant in the bungalow area pool.
Many types of rooms available from your typical hotel room to large multi-room/multi-bath suites. We stayed in a bungalow this trip, modern decor, very spacious as it had a living room on a separate level from the bedroom.

There is a shopping centre right beside the resort - with a convenience store and shops for clothing, rum, cigars, coffee, hairdresser, lounge/bar, etc. And a bank as well.
The Buena Vista Social Club frequently does evening concerts on the second level, definitely worth checking out if you are interested in Cuban music.
The 2 minute walk from the hotel lobby to the Xanadu (DuPont) Mansion at the golf course, for a drink in the lounge or dinner is definitely a todo. [Details]

Another great holiday in a special hotel

My family and a lot of friends meet here each year and we all have been here many times. Many changes going on some good and some wait and see.
We were in the Level a new experience with some wonderful add on Alacart breakfast and lunch which included lobster which was excellent with fantastic service from Mervin.
A special place on the beach where Nelson and Raul looked after us and pampered us with drinks service and anything we needed . A special room where Lia and the ladies gave us there undivided care, free wifi cards upgraded drinks and champagne . with snacks in a very luxurious area from 9 too 11 pm.

Our bungalow was cleaned every day excellent work with towel art and extras touches that were wonderful.

The alacarts The Japanese and the International were excellent with wonderful service alas the lobster has been removed from the alacart International now though.
I have to say that the Meditearean and the Romblais alacarts were not up to the Melia standards for quality of food and terriable service which I have not experienced to such a high degree could have been new staff. The Buffett was excellent with wide ranges of food for every palette. And service was incredible Betty Manuel and all the staff could not do enough for us and a warm thank you to Rachael for her warm smiles in the morning to greet us. The swim up bar restaurant has the best kept secret at the hotel at lunch they do amazing shrimp with excellent service from Elberto and Elvis just fantastic. The 24 hour bar where mercy Muriella and a wee newbie which has great potential Janier was the usual fantastic with all the staff there pretty amazing. Never had to wait long at the front desk excellent prompt attention. The lady who makes reservations Angela was so kind and helped to coordinate our alacarts which was no easy task with so many of us and she did so with a smile. I loved the shows especially the beach party and disco party with Liliana and Sandra Ettiene and all the hard workers who did the preparation for those few hours like Michael Angelo and Leo. The towel lady Lirena and Yanet were so helpful and Hose who managed to show me how to play dominoes and the great dj Auto for his upbeat tunes . If I have missed anyone I am sorry . There is a new manager in place he arrived and we had the opportunity to say good bye to Bernard the old manager but with a great support team like Reynaldo and Elizabeth Im sure our little piece of paradise s changes will be for the better. This was my first time in Cuba. This hotel was highly recommended by a friend. And it truly lived up to the expectation. The food was good and there were specialty restaurants. Very good resort

We came back saturday from this resort, one of the best we stayed in Cuba. It was a short drive from the airport and that was a plus.
Check in - we had a free upgrade to bungalows - one was ready and for the other one we had to wait until after 4PM. A few trips to the front desk, that was not easy in the heat. It is a long walk but it's worth it for quiet and privacy. The bungalow area is beautiful and very close to the beach. That beach is beautiful, the palapas are closer to the water but there is absolutely no service there. If you need to drink something you have to walk to one of the bars (not close). We always found chairs, at any hour.

Rooms - bungalows - we had 2 just renovated - living room and bedroom on the same level - just beautiful! AC worked wery well and terasse was huge. The only problem - when they renovated the showers, very modern - some of the showers have 2 doors and the water doesn't drain well. First shower - flodded the whole bedroom and part of the bathroom. I didn't want to change the rooms (6401) so each time after that I would put big towels on the floor to block the 2 doors. Worked well :D
Minibar - poor. The guy was really nice and bring whatever you ask - 2 beers, water and cola or lemon drink. I like to have a fresh coffee in the morning - we're in Cuba... they brought us 2 little pouches with instant coffee decaf, wasn't happy. Than no sugar, we asked the cleaning lady and she brought us some.
The cleaning lady from 6401 - 6407 was awsome and she spoke english!

Food - great and enough. A la carte - we tried them all and the only one we didn't like was Arcada. Lunches at La Roblezza were the best and staff there was same, smiling and happy.
The buffet - different story - older staff, no smiles, walking by you ignoring that you're there. Many times we had to get up and get our own cuttlery, water or salt. This until you find one or two people that are nice and you only go in that section of the buffet.
Bars - we only tried the outside one where the smoking was allowed and most of the staff was busy but in the end they will come to your table. We tried the ice coffee blanco - negro, americana or regular coffee and some drinks, all very good. Beer was good but mostly the strong one, not too much Crystal.
The resort manager is very nice and you can see him everywhere and at anytime.
Entertainment - I found the resort too quiet, except the night where everybody danced outside the lobby and the beach party.
There were a lot of singles, a lot of fun, nice friendly people. We made so many friends.
Another plus - no mosquitos - I think they take care of it very well. It's the first resort in Cuba where I was not eaten alive by them.

I wrote good and bad, but we wanted not to be bothered by the bad and made the best out of every day. For some people would be a big deal, as this is an expensive resort.
We had an awsome time and if the price is right we would definitely return. [Details]

LOVE this resort!

This is now our favourite Varadero resort! We have stayed in many Cuban resorts, and by far, Melia Las Americas is the best.The location and proximity to Varadero's beautiful beach is fantastic. The mall next door is also incredibly convenient with many well stocked shops. As an adults only resort, this was a very enjoyable destination. It is a small hotel, with the option of staying in separate bungalow suites that are very nice. We met several people who have vacationed at Melia Las Americas for over 10 years due to the awesome staff, service and hotel features. Their ocean-view suites are unbelievable. Hotel staff are outstanding: Daniel (top notch bellman); Raoul and all of the lobby bar staff; Osveldo (maitre d') in La Arcada restaurant, Ariel Rubin (waiters in La Arcada), all front desk staff, a la carte servers and buffet staff. Lia and Elsa from the Animation team are also incredible. Very friendly and helpful to learn about Cuba and their culture. There are several pools to lounge by, and some of our restaurant meals beat Canadian high end restaurant quality. Service is unbelievably professional and top notch. Golfing is very reasonably priced, including cart and clubs. We highly recommend this resort and intend to return in 2019. [Details]

The hotel was pretty empty and we managed to get the worst room in whole place. The room was tiny and they manage to put in a king size bed which broke mid way thru the week.
The staff where different this time as they didn't seem to care. When asked to get a piece of toast for breakfast they pointed to a loaf of bread. the variety of fruits was not available this time around. lack of order! [Details]

Fantastic Vacation & exceptionnal staff

The Hotel is for us the best place to go and relax in Varadero. The food, the view, the grand staircase to the beach, the proximity of the beach to the hotel, the clean sand, the entertainment, and the staff that work there make us return back to this cherished vacation resort.

It is a clean resort, the rooms we had were fantastic, the main lobby has internet & entertainment so this is great if you don't want to go do the entertainment section and stay in the main building.
The buffet has so much variety, and the food is delicious & fresh. I know it is rare for Cuba, but this is one reason why this hotel is so great.

The staff is FANTASTIC. As reference, Customer Service Manager & Quality Manager is efficient, friendly, quickly taking care of issues with her staff, making sure the guests are happy. She has the guests' satisfaction at heart, and does all of this with a great beautiful smile. The Head cook is very attentive, he was informed by Customer Service Manager & Quality manager that my husband has Gluten intolerance and made sure that his team had Gluten free pasta for him, and during the stay was always making a detour to come and validate with us if all was ok. This is a great service & shows how much they care. The General Manager is also very involved with the guests to ensure their satisfaction, and very friendly.

We visited other hotels in Varadero, but this hotel is the best and only one for our needs. Don't hesitate to book your next BEST vacations. [Details]
