My Vacation at Selectum Resort, Varadero, Cuba

I had great experience with the choice of Selectum Family Resort in Varadero, Cuba. My room was mostly tidy and clean (with few exceptions). I enjoyed the beach, swimming pools, and meals and drinks which, were served in the resort's Buffet, bars and restaurants (with couple of exceptions). [Details]

The strong points

Meals were regularly available on time. The Bar and Snack bar were open all day. Food and drinks served were well-prepared and monitored by supervisors and chefs, and clean. The staff was generally polite, friendly, well-dressed and clean.

The weak points

Long lines when serving the meals in the Buffet, drinks in the bar, or on the front-desk. Due to infrequent housekeeping in the rooms, fresh and clean towels, bed linens (sheets, pillow cases) were not usually provided.

Sanitary measures

Housekeeping should provide fresh and clean towels, bed sheets, duvets, blankets, and pillow cases.

The strong points

Staff and Cuban people were amazingly helpful and informative. A great resort, but wished the gym and other services were open 24 hrs.

The weak points

The buffet lines could be better organized with sandwich press in the middle of the food lineup. Rude tourists constantly butting into lineup. I had to speak up many times and inform people where the back of the lineup was.
