We are repeat guests , previously staying in the Grand Premium Lagoon Rooms. This time we chose to stay in a Grand Premium Lagoon Suite and very happy with the extras that came with it !
We were fortunate to experience fabulous weather and spent our days walking for miles on the beach or floating for hours in the ocean.
We brought 2 large suitcases of Humanitarian Medical Aid from Not Just Tourists with us and a wonderful gentleman at the reception desk was able to make arrangements with an English speaking taxi driver to take us to a Consultorio in Isla De Turiguano to deliver the supplies. Everyone at the hotel works together to support their extended community !
We certainly enjoyed all the activities and the evening entertainment. Wherever we ate , the food and service was great ! [Details]

Unfortunatly Vacations must come to an end

2 great weeks. Unfortunately, the weather was off for a couple of days. With the heavy downpour, we had a minor leak in our lagoon room and to our surprise they offered us a Suite, which we gladly accepted... WOW .. what service.
We were there in 2017 after Irma (hotel was devastated ), what a fantastic job in renovating. Kudos to the management and staff.
This place is perfect ... impeccable service from the GM ( Juan ) down to the sanitation staff .... this place is soo clean you could probably eat of the floors.
My wife would have liked the yoga platform moved from the Sport Club, back to its original location by the Gym, as the view from there over-looking the ocean is relaxing.
Being a non swimmer, I found a beach a bit on the wavy side, but I had my noodle :o) [Details]

This is my 4th trip to this resort, and in fact my second trip this year. There is so much I enjoy about it from the food to the staff to all the facilities.

Our flight arrived late but we were greeted with the same friendliness and helpfulness as any of the other earlier times we had arrived. Our room was ready; but since we have been there before and have a favorite spot we asked if we could have our favorite area. While it was not available that night we were given the right spot the next day as we were in the spring when we were there: very accommodating. My husband and I like to sit on the balcony at night to enjoy our tea and so location is important to us.

We have eaten at the ala carte restaurants and like them and they are GREAT quality all BUT because we find the buffet so exceptional we always eat there now. The food is excellent and varied and so there is always something there for anyone to find to their tastes. The staff is almost 100% excellent (occasionally someone might be having a bad day :)) and usually remember our preferences.

I can't comment on the pool (as I am a pure beach person) but people look to have lots of space and fun, although not enough shade for my taste.

The beach is perfect and there are a LOT of spots with shade. As I LOVE the beach and spend the entire day there from about 8:30am-6:00pm I am picky about "my spot". Because of this I go early in the morning for a walk and to get a place to spend the day BUT there are so many places this is not necessary to get a good spot in the shade. My husband enjoys the kayaking and can always have his hour or so in the ocean. He also took advantage of the biking one day and the young lady (maybe Jennifer?) who was his guide was very friendly and helpful, sharing lots of information about the area, Cuban lifestyle, and the Melia resort. He enjoyed the outing.

The entertainment in the evening was enjoyable and varied enough for everyone to enjoy as are the wait staff and the drinks. I am not a big drinker but always enjoyed both the service and presentation of the beverages.

The rooms are comfortable and well maintained and the air conditioning works perfectly (which is a requirement for my husband and one of the reasons he prefers Melia over other resorts we have visited in Cuba).

Overall, this is my favorite resort vacation spot ANYWHERE and I am looking forward to returning again for my fourth spring vacation in a row, this time with friends accompanying us. [Details]

Best hotel in Cuba

This hotel deserves to be rated #1 hotel in Cuba.

First I would like to thank the entertainment team. Victor made it seem like it was his own personal mission to make sure that my companion and I had a great time. He more than succeeded. Victor thank you for making my vacation as good as it was. Katty and Yinet are absolute sweethearts that you just can't say no to. I thank them very much for their attempts to teach me to dance. I would also like to thank Yaneisy and Maite for, among other things, properly teaching me how to drink Rum. Maite for explaining and Yaneisy for showing. Finishing off the entertainment team I'd also like to thank Ani, Oppa and Ismary. Without them my vacation wouldn't have been the same. They truly are first class.

Second I'd like to thank the wait staff in the Main Buffet. For Breakfast and Lunch, Omar, Beatriz and Leandro took amazing care of us. Service at the level of a 5 star restaurant. For Dinner it was Celia and Tony. Celia was like a long lost aunt that just made sure you have everything you need, and Tony made coffee's that would put a Starbucks barista to shame.

Lastly, I'd like to thank Yonel and Indira at the Lobby Bar and Jesus at the Beach Bar. I don't think in the 7 days there my glass was empty for more than 30 minutes combined. [Details]

Mother/Daughter Getaway

After having visited this resort 14 times with my spouse, I decided to do a mother/daughter vacation here. I was a little apprehensive going in August as it is considered low season and thought things may be too quiet and not be as good. Definitely not the case! Our requested room location was available and ready upon checkin - thank you Gippsy and team. Front reception staff friendly and efficient. A lot of the regular staff were on vacation however there were still several I knew. Everyone made us feel welcome right from the start. We both enjoyed the food, drinks, entertainment (lobby and theatre). Staff remembered our drink preferences each morning, lunch and dinner. Thank you Omar, Beatrice, Sonya and Joseph :) we thought the food was great and good selection.
We never had a problem getting chairs in the shade each day. Animation staff were great and my daughter enjoyed participating in volleyball, aqua aerobics and rum tasting. It was nice to chat with Alberto (lifeguard) and Bladimir (towel hut). We got a pass from reception to visit the Trypp. We walked the beach to get there and were going to stay for lunch but decided to go back “home” to the Melia.

My daughter commented on how much she loved the smaller size of this resort and that it was all adults and easy to navigate as everything was close (she is a mom of a 6 and 3 year old). The beach is absolutely beautiful and was so warm and calm while we were there. I thought the shows that we did see were even better than previous visits. Foam party was fun to watch or participate in
We met a lot of really nice people people while here.
Mozzies were out in full force. Maybe it has something to do with blood type. I got more bites than i normally do but they never bothered my daughter. Just make sure you take spray etc. It didn't affect my holiday.
It is true that the rooms are dated however they are spacious and clean and we had no issues.
Booked again for Nov 16th with friends and my daughter is looking to go back in the near future with her husband [Details]

Amazing Vacation

The Melia Cayo Coco is a great place for a quiet getaway. We have been twice before the latest hurricane (Irma 2017) and twice after. All four times have been great! The staff really do make this hotel. There are many activities daily, but you are not forced to join. You can make your vacation exactly how you like. Miles of white sand beach and the pool is always in great shape. Plenty of lounge chairs at the pool or on the beach. The food is above average for Cuba, a strong selection at the main buffet. The BBQ (beach) restaurant for lunch is great, live entertainment and amazing BBQ. The evening entertainment is always enjoyable, a combination of dance performances and music talents. I recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with great a great beach, warm weather and great staff. [Details]

Beautiful Resort

We visited this resort for our second time. The first time was 2004. The resort is small, which we love and the people are all so friendly. When we were there in 2004, I noticed how friendly the gardeners were and it is the same now. All the staff are very friendly and they make you feel at home from the time you arrive until the time you leave. The food is good, the entertainment is fantastic and the grounds are so well kept. The Manager, Bernard Meyer, is always walking around and stops to talk to everyone, making sure you are enjoying your stay. The only part we didn't enjoy was how hot it was, and that is definitely not the resorts fault. [Details]

This was our very first trip to Cuba. We used a travel agent to book and are so glad we booked the Melia Cayo Coco!

Our vacation was amazing. The resort was a 10/10. The rooms (we stayed in a regular room -6311) are not extravagant but they are more than adequate, as there's no need to be in your room that often!

The resort was clean, well maintained and beautiful. The lawn/maintenance staff make beautiful pieces from the palms, and even a hat if you forgot one. The kids loved them when we took them home as gifts.

The staff is absolutely amazing.. accommodating, personable, genuine and always went above and beyond for any additional requests. They all go above and beyond to make your vacation special.

There was lots of choice for food at the buffet and the 3 a la carte restaurants were very good. Our favorite was the Mediterranean.

The buses that run between resorts all the way to Pillar beach are so great! 5$ a day to ride as often as you would like. visit different resorts or get a day pass for the other Melia's or visit the market and beaches. We had so much fun doing this and made a whole day of it!

We spoke to some people from other resorts who were less than happy with their accommodations and decided to switch to the Melia Cayo Coco and were glad they did. Most people we talked to told us this was the best resort in Cuba!

Most visitors on the resort are older couples/groups. I would say the average age of the people staying is above 50. It is quiet and laid back with lots of easy-going activities. We loved this about the resort and were glad we picked a place without children and lots of younger people.

Thank you so much to all of the staff at the Melia for making our first vacation to Cuba an unforgettable experience.

The staff! I have never been treated so well on a vacation, let alone by the entire staff. Beaches were beautiful and very close walking distance. Evenings had great entertainment. Buffets had a wide variety of foods premade and fresh to cook.

Excellent relaxing vacation

We were at the Melia Cayo Coco from May 22 to May 29 and we had a very calm and relaxing vacation. Amazing Resort

Traveled as a couple; and was moved from the Pullman to Melia do to overbooking issues at the Pullmam.

We upgraded to the lagoon rooms; so worth the extra $
The most amazing sunsets I've ever seen
The international breakfast always quiet, the ladies working here always so much fun and friendly

Food and service at this resort was the best I've had in any resort I've been too
Have to give a shout out to some of the most amazing staff we have meet; and friends we have made
Yandy and his amazing drinks. Love this guy.

My husband and I had a romantic dinner over looking the pool (the food was awesome) we both had steak and had the pleasure of meeting Joel who's service was never ending our whole stay

Our favourite maid Diami. She made wonderFul towel art and was always smiling and happy

Charlie always busy with keeping the pool up to par always took the time to say hi and see how our stay was

So many wonderful staff. Wish I could thank each and everyone. I see why there are so many repeat customers

Our stay at Melia Cayo Coco was our first vacation together as a couple, and the resort was an excellent choice! Beautiful beaches, lots of fun daily activities, and relaxing with a pina colada and a book.

All the staff on the resort were helpful, friendly, and welcoming. We particularly enjoyed daily archery and shooting with Pedro - he is hilarious and made our stay that much more fun. Rum tasting was also a highlight.

There are a few different places to eat at the resort, though the restaurants are all reservation only, so make sure you book reservations when you arrive, otherwise your food options are somewhat limited. Our favourite was the Mediterranean restaurant. Overall food selection and variety was good, but we found that fresh vegetable options were somewhat limited and meat tended to be overcooked/dry relative to our tastes. This was the biggest issue we found. Meat that was slow cooked or cooked in sauces as well as barbecued meat skewers were generally good, though.

In preparation for our trip, we read that people often tip resort staff with small gifts such as toiletries (toothbrushes, soap, etc). We brought a lot of items to do this, but it felt a bit odd to do publicly. We left gifts for the maid, and she really appreciated them, though for most staff we decided it was best to tip with CUC, so make sure you bring extra cash for this. If you get to know someone who works at the resort and want to give them gifts beyond cash or toiletries, old electronics like cell phones and used clothes are very well-received because they're harder to get in Cuba.

Overall we had an amazing stay and we would be happy to return. Make sure you try lots of drinks - we were surprised to discover the Melia Cuba (coffee, rum, tobacco, and chocolate) was delicious! [Details]

Third stay at Melia Cayo Coco...won't be our last!

One tell tale sign of an outstanding resort is repeat guests...at MCC there is no shortage of repeat guests...that and first timers who within the first 48 hours are already planning their next visit! It seriously is that good! We just returned the other day from our third stay at MCC and we've decided that next time we will stay longer as 1 week is just too short!

What makes MCC outstanding?
- Excellent customer service from check in to check out
- Friendly, thoughtful and passionate staff that are eager to please and help
- Incredibly beautiful, clean, wide, white sand beach with gorgeous shades of turquoise water lapping up to the shore. You can take really lovely long walks.
- So many palapas that you don't have to get up in the wee hours to "reserve" one
- Lovely pool (we are strictly beach people but the pool is clean and a good size)
- Immaculate landscaping and lush gardens (considering the damage that Hurricane Irma did...the tireless work of the gardeners is very evident!)
- Great variety of tasty food in the buffet no matter what meal you are having and 3 lovely a la carte restaurants (our favourite is the beach/Cuban restaurant), one 24 hr snack bar, all with table servers that go above and beyond to ensure you have a positive experience (Lobby bar and snack bar are open 24/7)
- Fabulous entertainment every evening, multiple daily activities you have the option of participating in if you're interested (activities team is amazing!) and many quiet areas that you can just enjoy the views
- Rooms are well maintained and maid service always adds that extra special touch daily no matter if you stay in the lagoon suites or regular rooms. Beds are firm but comfortable. A few extra perks with lagoon rooms (we stayed lagoon 2X) but in this visit we stayed in a regular room and found it just as comfortable as lagoon rooms, the only thing we missed a little was the extra storage drawers...but no big deal really.
- All adults resort....so expect a more quiet, calmer atmosphere....more relaxing and restful. Dress is clean casual...a la carte restaurants require long pants for men in the evening.

We have traveled to MCC twice as a couple and once with our 3 adult kids. We have never been disappointed by anything. We have met and made many great friends on our visits with people from all over, as well as with the staff. Going back to MCC is like going back to a place we feel so comfortable in that it's like being at "home". Staff remember us and welcome us back like family...they even remembered our drink orders from last year! lol If you're wondering if you should book MCC...do it...you won't regret your decision. We have recently returned from our 11th trip to Cuba and our third visit to the Melia Cayo Coco (better known to us as ‘heaven on earth'). We have selected a Lagoon room each time, as they are truly unique and peaceful.
Cuba may be experiencing some shortages, but at the MCC there is NO shortage of top-notch service; beautiful surroundings and SMILES! And it starts from the ‘top on down'….Bernard Meyer, the new manager, is everywhere, every day, attending to every detail. I watched him straighten chairs by the pool; check tables for salt & pepper shakers and remove empty glasses by the poolside. He always has a moment to stop and ask how you are enjoying your stay and what can they do to make it better! He is gracious and attentive. And this attitude is reflected in the actions of every staff member, from the waiters to the gardeners.
The food at MCC has always been very good. The restaurants have a varied selection and we love that it includes many of the Cuban flavours, even at the buffet! You will always find fresh foods in the buffet…fresh grills; pasta and omelettes. There is a wide selection of vegetables, soups, breads and salads. All the A la carte restaurants are terrific – the choice is really about the style of food and the view!! Safe to say, we will never go hungry/unsatisfied at an MCC meal!
Like many frequent guests of the MCC, we have developed friends with the staff. It is our pleasure to greet and visit with them. While all the staff gave us great service, on this trip, we would like to express a special “thank you” to some of the staff who made our stay extra-special! Every morning, a smile and a cappuccino were ready for us from the team of Tamara and Aranelys!! Our room attendants, Eddyt and Yunisleidy (Yuni), showed their talent with towel art and attention to detail! Got my best Pina Coladas from Dayan at the pool bar! Our ‘Boys on the Beach' (Carlos, Hugo & Ivan) made certain we had a comfortable spot and great location! At the buffet, there were several lovely staff, but in particular we had wonderful service from Arisleidy and Yandy! We had two wonderful servers at the International dinner and, sadly, I did not write down their names. The “Mr. Personality Award” is a tie between Charles (the Omelette King) and Rolando (the ‘sexy big' gardener)! The “Energizer Bunny Award” goes to all the Animation Crew, but in particular, Maite!!
On the first night of this trip, there was a problem with my husband's CPAP machine. That could have made for a very uncomfortable stay. But, because of the attention to service and the ingenuity of the technician (sorry, forgot to write his name, too), they were able to fix the connector and loaned us a better quality convertor for the entire stay. Way to save the day - Great job!!
Cuban resorts in Cayo Coco have lots of beautiful beaches and nice rooms….what makes the Melia special is its' staff and their genuine interest in making our stay the best. We usually get one week a year to travel and relax and leave our worries behind…THIS place is where we choose to spend our time! “Thank you!!” to Bernard and his team for another awesome week of fabulous memories and great times!! Relax and worry about nothing

Melia Cayo Coco is still the best resort in Cuba that my partner and I have gone too. This is our second stay at this beautiful resort. Again, right from check-in to check-out our trip was exceptional. The ride from the airport to the Melia was under 15 minutes and that includes stopping at other resorts to drop off other vacationers. Checking in is always a pleasure. Being repeat guests, we received a free bottle of rum, 3 breakfasts at the lagoon restaurant and a lovely VIP cocktail party.
The staff are truly amazing. What a great group of people. Always happy to see you, willing to do what it takes to make sure your needs are taken care off. The grounds keepers were always greeting you and just making your trip feel personal. The entire staff for the restaurants and buffet were truly wonderful to be around. One of the things that I loved the most was that fact that the friends we made with the staff on our first trip remembered us and it makes you feel really welcomed.
I don't care what some people say about the food, it's really good. Lots to choose from and the chefs were on hand to cook up your chicken, beef or fish to your liking. The food is labeled and there is such a variety. The three restaurants were a great experience as well. The Las Caletas was beautiful at sunset.
The beach is beautiful. The sand goes on for miles. It is, by far one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. They are clean and the sand is almost white. We never once had an issue getting a spot to park our butts during the whole vacation. The weather, for the most part, was absolutely gorgeous. A few days of winding conditions. Nothing that would keep you off the beach. One day of rain, which was fine, because we entertained by the wonderful staff.
The nightly entertainment was exceptional. The dancers are amazing and very friendly. If you want to learn to dance or if you already know how to dance, you will be enjoying yourself for hours.
Again, I will be going back. It does feel like a home away from home. A beautiful and friendly resort no one should miss out on. [Details]

Amazing vacation

Another incredible visit

Great holiday at the Melia

We just returned from another great holiday at the Melia Cayo Coco. (seventh visit) We will be back.
Yunismy provided great service for our room, dinner reservations, special anniversary dinner and providing a taxi service for our trip to Lenny's. Thanks to Yunismy.
Yarima made our special coffee (with and without medicine every morning). Excellent service!!
Food and service in the buffet by Arisleidy was good every morning. Good service by Jorge in the evening suppers in the buffet.
Lunch at the beach grill was enjoyed with Yusmelkys's service.
Service and food at the a la cartes are good. Yulia made our supper special at the Las Caletas.
Our anniversary supper in the gazebo, was made special with Danny serving.
We spent every day at the gorgeous beach. Chairs were provided by Carlos or Ivan each day.
Afternoon drinks were enjoyed - made by Geney and served by Yelenni. Evening drinks were great out on the terrace with Pinty, Leo, Yunior and Chevi.
Entertainers were always trying to get us involved, but we were lazy!! Always enjoyed a visit from Yinet and the other entertainers.
In summary, the staff, food, beach and accommodations are excellent for a relaxing holiday.
One minor weak point - there was no Cristal beer on our last two days!! We like Cristal beer! [Details]

A great small resort!

Recently, from February 16-23, we returned to the Melia Cayo Coco for our second stay. In the past we had visited three other resorts in the Caribbean, all nice in their own way, but the Melia was so outstanding we felt that we could do no better. While staying there we talked to a number of other visitors who felt the same way and had returned numerous times. From one, a Canadian accountant on his 15th visit, we learned that a recent survey of vacationers indicated that of all Caribbean resorts the Melia had the highest return rate.

The Melia is a 5 star, adults only, all-inclusive resort located on a gorgeous stretch of beach. There are numerous palapas, so it is not difficult to find a comfortable shady spot. A nearby beach bar provides friendly service. We spent most of our time there (at the beach, not the bar!) rather than at the pool, which tended to be busier as it serves as the centre of activity for the entire resort. The pool area gives access to the main buffet, the lobby, the theatre, the snack bar and one of the specialty restaurants. We tended to spend a fair amount of time in the lobby bar, a comfortably breezy area near the main buffet.
The service was friendly and fairly prompt, and we enjoyed a variety of cocktails while there. I recommend the Havana special.

We took most of our meals at the main buffet. There was always a large variety of tempting selections and our main concern was to avoid the temptation of overeating. Most evenings we selected from the grilled fish options. On different nights we had fresh hake, tuna, cod, and bluefish - all excellent but we felt the tuna was the best. In the mornings we usually asked Charles (who we fondly remembered from our previous visit) to prepare us an omelet. I loved the fresh juice selection, especially the papaya and guava. One of the special treats was receiving service from one of our favourite attendants, Arisleidy. On seeing us she would usually wave us over to one of her tables and immediately provide us with coffee and water. Always smiling and friendly, we made a special point of saying goodbye to her just before we left. On two occasions we ate at the special restaurants, the Mediterranean and the International. Both were excellent, providing five course meals and attentive service. One surprise was that you had to pay extra to get a good bottle of wine, but the prices were quite reasonable starting at about 5 CUC.

As for the room, on our first visit we had one of the junior suites located directly behind the beach restaurant and on the second we took one of the lagoon rooms. They were both very nice, but of the two we preferred the junior suite, partly because of the extra room, but mostly since it was located so close to the beach where we spent most of our time. The lagoon room was quiet and had a nice little balcony where you could sit in a comfortable lounger and watch the ducks swim by. Some reviewers have commented on an unpleasant lagoon odor and the presence of mosquitos. We experienced neither of these, The chief disadvantage was that we were in one of the most distant of the lagoon rooms and it was quite a little walk to the pool area or the beach. In one way this was good as it built some exercise into our daily routine, but in the future we will try to reserve one of the six junior suites. [Details]

Fantastic, Fun, Friendly!!!

Fishing is fantastic. The rooms are clean and always well maintained by the friendly staff. We were in a lagoon room and the view was great. Our own balcony looked out over the lagoon and was a delight! The staff in the dining rooms were great. They made us feel so much like family, we were sad to leave. The beaches are lovely and we walked for miles. We saw and took pictures of many different birds. The whole experience was perfect. The manager's name is Bernard and he is friendly and welcoming and he is always around....pretty sure he doesn't even sleep. If you need anything at all, there is someone to ask. The food manager, Carlos, really knew what he was doing and was so friendly and helpful always. As we walked, we met many of the landscaping staff. Again! So friendly and sweet. The strong points
Clean, friendly, fun, and amazing fishing available so we went three days in a row.
The weak points
One week wasn't enough. So that was my fault for not going for two weeks! Haha! No weaknesses that I am aware of.

We love it which is why this was our second visit there. The beach and weather are beautiful but it's also the hard working staff that impress us. The gardening crew, servers/bartenders, cleaning crew, entertainment staff, front desk and customer service. All smiles and warm welcomes. [Details]

The strong points
It's a small enough resort that crowding is not an issue. You can get spots at the beach and pool as well as lines at the buffet are almost non existent! The food here is fantastic!
