The standard rooms were spacious and well kept. The AC was amazing and solar power operated. The buffet had great food and variety during breakfast, lunch and dinner. Overall our visit was disappointing. Various shortages of food & drinks, cockroaches in the buffet. A missing bathing suit taken from our locked room. The bathing suit was a gift from our daughter and had only been worn once on the first day of our trip. On day three we realized it was missing. Reported incident to Front Desk staff member who directed us to Guest Experience. We returned the next day for an update only to be offered a shrug of the shoulders. (We also heard of two other guests that had items missing from their room as well) This incident resulted in us having to lock up all of our belongings for the remainder of our stay. Embarrassing for Melia to go on vacation and have to do this but sadly we lost trust in the staff. On the day before our departure I met with our rep Kathy to discuss our corncerns. Kathy introduced me to the Guest Experience Manager Kevin? I was shocked that he was unaware of the incident three days after it was reported. I brought him up to speed. He asked to see the room, I obliged. He was surprised to see our empty room other than our three locked suitcases. Even after this meeting with Kevin no formal report was taken and I never heard back from anyone prior to our departure. Needless to say, I was left with the impression that no one from this hotel was concerned that a member of their staff entered our room and removed our personal property. After numerous trips to Cuba we could not wait to leave this hotel. Extremely disheartening as we brought an extra suitcase full of essentials for the staff. [Details]

We really appreciate that you have taken the time to share the details of your stay with us, as this will give us the opportunity to improve our shortcomings.
First, we would like to express our most sincere apologies for the incidents you experienced while staying with us concerning insects in the main buffet. We would like you to know that we consider as huge priority the deep cleaning program in the different places where we offer food and beverage services, because we undertsand how important that is. In addition, we would like to mention that we follow strictly the fumigation program, which is set to occur once a week according to the product we use. Unfortunately, sometimes we cannot count on the more effective products because of inconvenient with the chain of supplies, and the effects is not as good as we desire. However, we continue working to everyday to eliminate the presence of this in our hotel.
Regarding the problems that you tell us about the variety of food and beverages, it is real and we are doing our best work with our suppliers to get everything that ia available, but sometimes some of the elements necessary to improve our service are not found. Nevertheless, we do our best to offer our guests other options that might be to their taste.
Regarding the alleged incident of the missing bathing suit, it is true that you reported that at our Guest Experience department and they addressed the incident with our Housekeeping department and asked your chamber maid about what you described that happened; she stated that she had not touched any of your belongings. We want to highlight that most of our staff has been working at the resort for many years and that our hotel has a huge reputation for the great service and trustabily of the staff. It was in that moment that an official report should have been made because it is only way we have to get an official investigation started and the procedure to check the room's lock record through our Security Department. In the follow up of this incident, which we have in our records, it is stated that you did not claim for the official report and it was just then, the day before your check out, that you contacted your Representative and talked to her about your experience.
As you described, our Guest Experience Manager, Mr. Kennier Mena Morales, took care of the situation in that moment, and he even accompanied you to help you look in your room; after that, you were asked one more time to make the official report of the missing item but you mentioned that you did not consider it necessary. We want to add that we are really sorry that this item has a sentimental value to you, so we understand how important that is to you, and that this has also influenced your feedback about your stay with us.
We can assure you that our Management Team is working really hard to try to keep the hotel's standard and levels of satisfaction, and please be sure that we would be really pleased to welcome you in the future and offer you the service all our guests deserve.

We returned home from Melia Cayo Coco a week ago and are already looking at returning next year! This was our fourth time in Cayo Coco and our first time at Melia – we will never stay anywhere else in Cayo Coco – guests for life! We had a beautiful symbolic commitment ceremony on the beach and it could not have been any more prefect! Gippsy did an outstanding job arranging everything….the ceremony the stylist who helped us ladies get ready, the romantic lobster dinner in the rooftop gazebo with Yordy serving us (he's awesome and very funny!!) , the gorgeous flowers, the photographer….EVERYTHING! We had a champagne toast on the beach and they made us the most beautiful and delicious wedding cake! It was beyond a dream come true! When we returned to our room there were rose petals on the floor and bed, a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a bottle of 7 year Havana Club Rum!! AMAZING!! We had a beautiful Lagoon View room with all of the amenities and it was perfect. We enjoyed every meal we had at both the beach buffet and the main buffet. The A La Cartes were also wonderful…our absolute favorite was the Mediterranean A La Carte – it was the best a la carte meal I have ever had at a hotel! The hotel itself was spotless, the lobby bathrooms had full time staff looking after them – well done! The bars were awesome and had plenty of different alcohol on hand. The sports bar, snack bar and lobby bar were great. We loved the animation team and the really fun games they had – especially the daily Lazy Game!! The nightly entertainment was top notch and extremely professional and entertaining. We did not get any bug bites at all on the beach or by the pool – the hotel was sprayed several times during the week by a crop dusting type plane. I have mobility issues and had no problem whatsoever getting around the hotel. If I could rate this hotel higher I would! I have never felt so welcome, comfortable and pampered – it was an amazing holiday! The only problem I had with the hotel is that we were not there long enough – one week was just too short of time to spend at the Melia Cayo Coco! [Details]

This is our 4th trip to Melia Cayo Coco. Weather was perfect, the beach supreme, and the people are just lovely! If you're looking for a smaller, quieter, adult only resort to relax, enjoy the beaches and pool, with fun activities and decent entertainment, this is the place! We love it here and will most definitely be back again next year! This is our first time returning since the pandemic. We did notice some definite changes since our last visit in 2019. Our 2020 trip was cancelled due to covid. (In 2022 we thought we'd try the Dominican and did not enjoy it at all). There was a definite shortage in food (the variety was not as good as previous years, a shortage of some fruits at times, no ham or bacon or options on the a la carte menus unavailable) and was somewhat disappointed in the limited availability for my Pina Coladas ( only available in the evenings). We did notice, since returning, that some things could use work/updates ( entertainment theatre could use some painting/sprucing, concrete area around the pool was starting to flake in areas, the shower in our room is dated (the rooms and resort are very clean though!). Heard quite a few people commenting on the new pool lounges in the pool area ( hard plastic, uncomfortable) and all the new lounge seating and theatre chairs were very uncomfortable ( too deep to sit properly, especially for females, and very hard on the back ) We are hoping, like everywhere else, that they too are trying to get back on track and things will only get better from here on in, moving forward! Enjoyed seeing some of the same staff still there and many of the same people, who go at the same time as us, still coming back ! Loved our morning omelets made by the one and only Charles, boy have we missed those! Enjoyed the convenience of our Canadian money being used so readily now and the convenience of free wifi. We apologize due to the food shortages the country is facing, and that the variety has not been as good as in previous years. Really at times we lack some products such as Piña Coladas, but we try to improve the offer, and look for alternative options. Like you, we hope that everything improves, and that we can return to normality with regard to supplies. We see that you was lucky enough to taste the delicious morning tortillas made by the one and only Charles, this surely helped your diet while you were with us.
The concrete area around the pool is planned for its total renovation in our investment plans for next year, including the snack bar, since we had it planned for this year, but it was not possible because all the materials and resources that were needed for the job did not arrive in the country. Regarding the theater, we are making decisions about the best offer to repair its roof, and then we would make a total repair, which would include all the painting of its façade.
Really the theater seats and the new pool loungers are not as comfortable as we would like, but unfortunately they were the only ones available on the market at the time of purchase.
It's great to know that you were able to participate in fun activities and decent entertainment, that made you feel included, and always find something to spend your leisure and relaxation time.
We are glad to hear that you enjoyed seeing some of the staff that staying with us from your first visit, and many repeat customers returning at the same time as you. Our hotel has always been characterized by a high repetition rate, and by keeping many of the founding workers, or those who have been in our facility for many years.

I went with my 2 friends to photograph the birds in the area. We hired a guide who picked us up right at the front of the resort. When I told him where we were staying he said "you picked the best resort". The hotel itself was beautiful and the food was really good. As a birder I found lots to photograph right on the resort grounds plus getting out with the guide was also awesome. The biggest thing about this resort is the staff. From the folks in the buffet, the beach restaurant, 24 hour snack bar, main bar, front lobby, gardeners and the maids that look after the rooms everyone was so friendly and welcoming, making it such a fun experience. I loved the fact that the wifi worked throughout the resort including in the rooms.. I highly recommend this resort, nothing but good things to say! [Details]

First of all the STAFF is amazing! They made you feel like part of the family, thank you our sweet Lia, Annie and Chocolate Mama (she told us that's what she likes to be called). Beach is a piece of paradise. Food is really good with a big variety and plenty of it, we were so lucky to have that as we were hearing horror stories of other places. Grounds are meticulously kept. Entertainment was good if you wanted to participate or not. Nightly entertainment was good also, we enjoyed it very much. Drinks a plenty of course but we found the lobby bar to be slow in service, they need to have more than one bartender on hand. Rooms, however, are dated and tired looking with a much needed update, which they are now underway with. But it will take years to finish. We had a few issues with electrical, air conditioning and water pressure and temperature, but they were handled pronto which we appreciated. Bathroom could be cleaner, that was my main issue but it's hard to make it sparkling when it's old. We definitely will go back, our experience was wonderful! [Details]

This resort is full of teachers during March Break! It's so easy to find people to talk to as a result, particularly if you are in education!
The staff is absolutely wonderful! They are really attentive and really want the guests to have a great time. This extends beyond just the entertainment staff. The groundskeepers, the cleaning staff, the food preparation staff are all so kind!
Chino and Alberto really enjoy playing volleyball and it made our visit so great! We were very happy to play with them throughout our vacation!

There is a wide variety of activities offered by the hotel and the staff. A variety of à la carte options, different themed nights at the buffet, many shows to enjoy, and friendly/helpful staff to cater to your needs. Without doubt they have best beach on the island. Superb!
After a number of years in various resorts, we decided this fall to visit Melia Cayo Coco. We had previously stayed here in 2004 and 2011, but for many reasons just never got back until now – and we are really pleased that we finally did! The feel of this resort is classy and professional, but it does not sacrifice warmth and comfort to achieve the feel. We felt totally welcome from the moment we stepped into the lobby on arrival until the sad goodbyes the morning of our departure. Our accommodations were first-class. We stayed in what is called a Grand Suite and loved it. It includes several perks such as: Guaranteed reservations for A la Carte Restaurants; Special Dinner in the Gazebo, overlooking the pool; VIP minibar with Champaign, Cuban rum in room on arrival; Beach towels in room on arrival; Complimentary late checkout (time upon availability). These suites are on the lagoon, very near the lobby. Big thank you to Gippsey for all you help in arranging this. Each day we received a generous supply of thick, cozy towels, and in the evenings, we had turn-down service from Norka, the sweet flower lady. For entertainment, the excellent Animation Team kept folks occupied very nicely at the pool. Each evening we were treated to talented singers and musicians in the lobby prior to the main show. The beach is so very relaxing and beautiful. There are plenty of palapas to provide shade and more than enough loungers to please everyone. The renowned white sand of the Cayo Coco beach is still here, nearly free of rocks and shells. Food was outstanding. We tried each of the a la carte restaurants, and found each quite fine. However, the food was so good at the Buffet that we actually canceled a la cartes to go to there!! The service and food were fantastic, and the wine choice more than adequate. The first night we walked into the buffet we were immediately seated, drinks poured and treated like royalty. And the entire vacation was like that. In the lobby, it was not unusual for a server to be at our table before we even got seated. We also had similar service at the pool Snack Bar. On the few occasions when we had (minor) issues, we were treated in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner by the Guest Experience group. First and foremost we must mention Liz who did an outstanding job of organizing our romantic dinner and other much appreciated personal gestures and always soooo professional. Also the other folks Haila, Daniella, and Yunismy were always so willing to address any concerns/issues we had. What a great group of folks. We would like to mention some of the other folks that made our vacation extra special as follows: Each morning when we would arrive in the lobby for our tea and coffee we were greeted by the oh so efficient Tamara, Aranelys and Rolando. No matter how busy these folks were, they always had time for hello and ask how we are doing, as we did enquire of them. During the afternoon and evenings in the lobby we were taken incredible care of by Edil who is still a student but you would not know it by the way he conducts himself and his professionalism and efficiency. Such a privilege to get to know him. In the morning buffet we were greeted with the beautiful smile of Arisleidy. She would always fill and refill our water glasses without us ever having to ask. Also in the morning buffet was Yamil. He too is incredible and such a kind and professional server. And not to be missed are the cooks Lester and Charlie and another gentleman whose name I don't remember. Always happy to see us and made delicious eggs, omelets and bacon. AMAZING!!!! The evening buffet was always a pleasure to arrive and be greeted by Julia and or Eddy. We felt like we have been friends forever and were treated so special. Our first night Eddy and Yoel met us as we entered the buffet and it was like seeing old friends, even though we had never met. So attentive and again so professional. And then we have Diosvany who seems to work everywhere. He was working at the pool bar, the lobby, the buffet and wherever he was needed. What a wonderful human being and again so professional and just darn good at his job. And a huge shout out to the amazing chef Nothelby who just floats around ensuring everything is in order. The meals this man prepares and oversees are exquisite. What an asset to this resort. We also loved the pride everyone shows working in the buffet. If something needed to be cleaned, wiped off, picked up, refreshed or whatever, they did it. We were there 20 minutes before closing and they were still refreshing the platters with food!!! Our romantic dinner in the Gazebo was outstanding. Our waiter Dennis did an amazing job and everything was served hot and delicious. Never rushed and it truly was a romantic experience. We also had great meals served by Delmas in the Cuban restaurant and Indira in the International. Again very professional and efficient. We had the privilege of attending the repeat guest dinner which was a lovely experience and delicious food. The resort manager Marco personally welcomed everyone then made a beautiful short welcoming speech and then went about his busy job. Speaking of Marco he is doing a fantastic job! The sense of teamwork and comradery among the workers is beautiful. This does not happen without a good leader. He is very approachable and we had a couple of great conversations. We also saw him speak to the workers as he would to a guest, very respectful. He is always around and pitches in where he is needed which is so nice to see. We arrived home on a Sunday at 3am and by noon Monday had a return trip booked. [Details]

My husband and I have visited the Meliã three times, and can't wait to return!! The beach is beautiful, sunrises are spectacular, musical groups and shows are top rate, and the food whether at the beach restaurant, poolside cafè, buffet, or à la carte, is appetizing and delicious. However, in spite of all this awesomeness, it's the spirit and kindness of the employees that keep us coming back!!! We enjoyed excursions to experience the “real” Cuba, as well as a drive to Playa Pilar in a beautiful, 1950's Jeep convertible. The massage therapists on site are amazing. We truly can't say enough about the wonderful times we've enjoyed at the Meliã. We highly recommend this resort. We can't wait to return!! [Details]

A slice of paradise

This resort lives up to the Melia standard. Just returned from two weeks of complete rest, relaxation and fun. The staff are welcoming and very helpful. The keys of Cuba have the most beautiful powdery white sand and clear turquoise ocean. MCC has a fabulous beachfront with enough room to enjoy the tides moving in and out (unlike some of the other resorts). There was always a good selection of food to choose from, whether in the a la carte restaurants or buffet. Beach restaurant is truly a gem on the beach. Leandro, Osmany and I can't remember the name of the female server (sorry) provide exceptional service. The grill master, Raul, fed us perfectly grilled and tasty food every day. Loved the band Son Del Rio and we had the best Cuban dance party every lunch. And it was so much fun when the staff joined in! Jesus at the beach bar provides great service. I stayed in a lagoon bungalow and was completely happy with the amount of space and conveniences in the room. Maid service was very good. Enjoyed beautiful sunrises and sunsets from the balcony and waterfowl making their happy noises and taking flight throughout the day. The lobby bar staff were always attentive, and appreciated all the service from Osvaldo, Inti and Advil. The Prince, Communications Director, was always friendly and helpful. Haila from Customer Experience was so welcoming and helpful - she also arranged for a birthday cake and celebration for me. The gardeners work so hard in the hot weather to make the grounds beautiful. I enjoyed the fresh coconuts they provided! Thanks Jorge, Joel, and Felipe. Our 8th stay at MCC was almost perfect. We wouldn't consider going anywhere else. We love the band Son Del Rio Cuba. They are currently playing at the beach restaurant, Tuesday through Friday, 12:30 - 14:30. There is another band, Sonávila, playing at the beach restaurant, Saturday through Monday, 12:30 - 14:30. They were excellent musicians too!We stayed in an unrenovated 2nd floor room in block 84. It was close to the beach and very comfortable. There was endless hot water and the toilet flushed every time. MCC's staff are very professional and welcoming. They work very hard, 24/7. Customer Service was outstanding! The coffee in the snack bar and lobby bar is perfect. The food in the buffet was plentiful and excellent. The food in the al la carte restaurants was also excellent. We went to the beach restaurant for a la carte breakfast, by reservation only, twice. It is a wonderful setting and hopefully will continue even after the new International restaurant opens. We enjoyed endless drinks in many bars. As returning customers, we enjoyed 2 dinners for loyalty guests during our 2 week stay. ~ 60 people were at each. The beach is great for walking. We swam in the ocean except on red flag days. The water temperature is refreshing. Rain showers were short and infrequent. We took a taxi to Moron twice in our 2 week stay. We visited friends and went out for lunch. We experienced real Cuban living conditions. We flew Air Transat direct from Halifax. Cuban immigration and customs were very fast. We were tested for Covid. Our bags arrived quickly. We took bus transfers to and from the airport. A beer on the bus is now $5 CDN. The resort's feral cat population is growing. We look forward to its reduction and improved cat control. We stayed at the Melia Cayo Coco from February 18 to the 25th. This was our first time in Cayo Coco and it was not what we expected for the price we paid. Our room was standard and looked a little tired. The food was average with some items not available such as Orange Juice, Pinia Colatta, vodka, pineapple juice, mustard, and ketchup apart from many more. Our room was made up daily around 4:00 PM or later which we found late if we wanted to retrieve back to our room. The restaurants that we had reservations also were short on supplies when ordering on their menus. The Buffett had better food when compared to the La Carte Restaurants. But what we didn't like at the buffet were the roaches on the counters as well as at other food stations. This was brought to the floor manager but nothing was done other than him using a cloth and brushing them off the counter. The entertainment was good at night and service was average but the drink selection was limited with limited options. The beach was nice as usual and the Beach Bar only offered Rum drinks and Beer. It's disappointing that you travel to Cuba and all they have is that. It's unfortunate we had to experience all these issues. On our flight home, we met other travelers staying at other resorts( the PullMan) and they had Vodka, Pina Coladas, and many other items we did not.
We are Melia Reward Members and traveled to Cuba many times before, during, and after Covid and never had an experience like this time. We will not be returning to this hotel for our future travels. Hope this review helped [Details]

We would like you to know that we receive the opinions of all who visit us with good will, as it is a way of having a tool for systematic improvement. It is a great pity for us that what we offered you was not what you expected. We would like you to know that we are very sorry that you were displeased with the room you were assigned looked a little dated, but this is something we are aware of, and we have been working in the improvements taking into account the availability of resources to deal with renovation work.
We are also very sorry for any inconvenience with the supply of food and drinks, but it goes without saying everything that we have already repeated so many times in these forums regarding the issue of supplies, something also highly known by everyone who previously reviews these forums of opinions before making their travel choices.
We would like you to know that the rooms have service hours throughout the day, that is, from the arrival of the house cleaners until 4pm. Maids have to clean a group of rooms that each of them have assigned, and not just your own, so they can't clean all rooms at the same time. That is why when there are demanding clients in this sense, it is recommended that they ask to customer service for their room to be prioritized during the service, and this is assumed with great pleasure by our staff.
Regarding your observation about cockroaches, we must tell you that we are aware that we still face the appearance of this vector in unwanted places. However, we would like you to know that the deep cleaning program, the opportune collection of waste, and the internal and external fumigation program, are applied according to the established standards. However, we present a sad reality, we have been testing several of the existing products in the country to combat this, and till now we have not found one 100% effective, since we depend on the products available in the country's stores, which are the ones that our suppliers can guarantee us.
It is good to know that you liked the nightly entertainment, and that at least for your appreciation the service was average, although we would have wanted you to have appreciated it of the highest quality. We are also very pleased to know that you enjoyed our beach.
Regarding your last observation about the existence of products in the Pullman that were not in ours, such as Vodka, piña coladas and many other items that we did not have, we must inform you that there are many products in our hotel as well that they do not have in their stocks, because it is about how quickly the products in stock are consumed, which varies greatly depending on the demand it has, the point of consumption to which it was assigned, the number of customers that the facility has at that moment , among many other factors that are irrelevant that we explain them to you, because you would not understand them either.
Your observations have certainly helped us, but much more to all those who read these forums. It is a pity to know that you will not return to this hotel for future trips. We would have liked you to give us the opportunity to have your visit again in the future, so that we could do our best to erase such a bad experience you have experienced. So glad to be back!
We are hoping, like everywhere else, that they too are trying to get back on track and things will only get better from here on in, moving forward! Enjoyed seeing some of the same staff still there and many of the same people, who go at the same time as us, still coming back ! Loved our morning omelets made by the one and only Charles, boy have we missed those! Enjoyed the convenience of our Canadian money being used so readily now and the convenience of free wifi.

Awesome Resort
The hotel itself was beautiful and the food was really good.
As a birder I found lots to photograph right on the resort grounds plus getting out with the guide was also awesome.
The biggest thing about this resort is the staff. From the folks in the buffet, the beach restaurant, 24 hour snack bar, main bar, front lobby, gardeners and the maids that look after the rooms everyone was so friendly and welcoming, making it such a fun experience.
I loved the fact that the wifi worked throughout the resort including in the rooms..

Drinks a plenty of course but we found the lobby bar to be slow in service, they need to have more than one bartender on hand. Rooms, however, are dated and tired looking with a much needed update, which they are now underway with. But it will take years to finish. We had a few issues with electrical, air conditioning and water pressure and temperature, but they were handled pronto which we appreciated. Bathroom could be cleaner, that was my main issue but it's hard to make it sparkling when it's old. We definitely will go back, our experience was wonderful! [Details]
Great March Break destination!
The staff is absolutely wonderful! They are really attentive and really want the guests to have a great time. This extends beyond just the entertainment staff. The groundskeepers, the cleaning staff, the food preparation staff are all so kind!
Chino and Alberto really enjoy playing volleyball and it made our visit so great! We were very happy to play with them throughout our vacation!

Perfect Vacation
After a number of years in various resorts, we decided this fall to visit Melia Cayo Coco. We had previously stayed here in 2004 and 2011, but for many reasons just never got back until now – and we are really pleased that we finally did!
The feel of this resort is classy and professional, but it does not sacrifice warmth and comfort to achieve the feel. We felt totally welcome from the moment we stepped into the lobby on arrival until the sad goodbyes the morning of our departure.
Our accommodations were first-class. We stayed in what is called a Grand Suite and loved it. It includes several perks such as: Guaranteed reservations for A la Carte Restaurants; Special Dinner in the Gazebo, overlooking the pool; VIP minibar with Champaign, Cuban rum in room on arrival; Beach towels in room on arrival; Complimentary late checkout (time upon availability). These suites are on the lagoon, very near the lobby. Big thank you to Gippsey for all you help in arranging this. Each day we received a generous supply of thick, cozy towels, and in the evenings, we had turn-down service from Norka, the sweet flower lady.
For entertainment, the excellent Animation Team kept folks occupied very nicely at the pool. Each evening we were treated to talented singers and musicians in the lobby prior to the main show.
The beach is so very relaxing and beautiful. There are plenty of palapas to provide shade and more than enough loungers to please everyone. The renowned white sand of the Cayo Coco beach is still here, nearly free of rocks and shells.
Food was outstanding. We tried each of the a la carte restaurants, and found each quite fine. However, the food was so good at the Buffet that we actually canceled a la cartes to go to there!! The service and food were fantastic, and the wine choice more than adequate. The first night we walked into the buffet we were immediately seated, drinks poured and treated like royalty. And the entire vacation was like that.
In the lobby, it was not unusual for a server to be at our table before we even got seated. We also had similar service at the pool Snack Bar.
On the few occasions when we had (minor) issues, we were treated in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner by the Guest Experience group. First and foremost we must mention Liz who did an outstanding job of organizing our romantic dinner and other much appreciated personal gestures and always soooo professional. Also the other folks Haila, Daniella, and Yunismy were always so willing to address any concerns/issues we had. What a great group of folks.
We would like to mention some of the other folks that made our vacation extra special as follows:
Each morning when we would arrive in the lobby for our tea and coffee we were greeted by the oh so efficient Tamara, Aranelys and Rolando. No matter how busy these folks were, they always had time for hello and ask how we are doing, as we did enquire of them.
During the afternoon and evenings in the lobby we were taken incredible care of by Edil who is still a student but you would not know it by the way he conducts himself and his professionalism and efficiency. Such a privilege to get to know him.
In the morning buffet we were greeted with the beautiful smile of Arisleidy. She would always fill and refill our water glasses without us ever having to ask. Also in the morning buffet was Yamil. He too is incredible and such a kind and professional server. And not to be missed are the cooks Lester and Charlie and another gentleman whose name I don't remember. Always happy to see us and made delicious eggs, omelets and bacon. AMAZING!!!!
The evening buffet was always a pleasure to arrive and be greeted by Julia and or Eddy. We felt like we have been friends forever and were treated so special. Our first night Eddy and Yoel met us as we entered the buffet and it was like seeing old friends, even though we had never met. So attentive and again so professional.
And then we have Diosvany who seems to work everywhere. He was working at the pool bar, the lobby, the buffet and wherever he was needed. What a wonderful human being and again so professional and just darn good at his job.
And a huge shout out to the amazing chef Nothelby who just floats around ensuring everything is in order. The meals this man prepares and oversees are exquisite. What an asset to this resort.
We also loved the pride everyone shows working in the buffet. If something needed to be cleaned, wiped off, picked up, refreshed or whatever, they did it. We were there 20 minutes before closing and they were still refreshing the platters with food!!!
Our romantic dinner in the Gazebo was outstanding. Our waiter Dennis did an amazing job and everything was served hot and delicious. Never rushed and it truly was a romantic experience.
We also had great meals served by Delmas in the Cuban restaurant and Indira in the International. Again very professional and efficient.
We had the privilege of attending the repeat guest dinner which was a lovely experience and delicious food. The resort manager Marco personally welcomed everyone then made a beautiful short welcoming speech and then went about his busy job.
Speaking of Marco he is doing a fantastic job! The sense of teamwork and comradery among the workers is beautiful. This does not happen without a good leader. He is very approachable and we had a couple of great conversations. We also saw him speak to the workers as he would to a guest, very respectful. He is always around and pitches in where he is needed which is so nice to see.
We arrived home on a Sunday at 3am and by noon Monday had a return trip booked. [Details]

We enjoyed excursions to experience the “real” Cuba, as well as a drive to Playa Pilar in a beautiful, 1950's Jeep convertible. The massage therapists on site are amazing.
We truly can't say enough about the wonderful times we've enjoyed at the Meliã.
