Once again we had a fabulous time. It is a home away from home. The rooms are very clean. The beach is fabulous for walking. The staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. I love it when guests play the piano in the lobby and everyone joins in by dancing and singing at the beach restaurant!

From the time I arrived I was made to feel very welcomed by the staff and other patrons. This was my first visit to a Melia resort , But certainly not my last.

It is the people who make a place great! Melia has many loyal employees - some have been with the resort since its inception - and they are what makes this resort a 5-star *****. These employees are likely the reason that so many guests continue to return year after year. I would like to commend each employee who has become a friend over our eight visits, but that would mean specifically mentioning over 70 people and identifying their strengths. What a way to relax!

We visited Melia Cayo Coco Feb. 19 to Feb. 29 - and were not disappointed! From the warm reception upon arrival, to the perfect lagoon room - we had a fantastic vacation. Two ladies behind the scenes, Gippsy and Jessica, make sure everyone is having a good time, and are first to address any issues you may be having. The beach is bigger than it was 4 years ago. We spent all but 1 day on it - lots of sun or shade, and great swimming in the ocean. The food here is great! Selection, quality and presentation are fantastic. And of course the people who work to make our vacations great - enough can't be said for all their hard work - from the ladies cleaning the rooms, to the gentlemen tending to the grounds, the people at the front desk, the bartenders, servers, all the staff at the buffet - there was not one person who did not do their best to make our stay perfect! No reflection on the resort - I wish that vacationers who smoke, would not leave their cigarette butts on the ground, or even worse, on the beach.

Great getaway!

The resort is small, everything seems to be central. This was our second time and it was as good as the first time. I personally prefer Rio de Oro in Holguin but the flights were not good for us, thus we ended up in Melia Cayo Coco. Plenty to eat, no problems with drinking water and rooms are smaller but very nice. My wife and I like to dance salsa, many opportunities to dance! Excellent staff throughout the resort. We would and will go back.
The only negative side is the the Cuban government did. When leaving Cuba you must exchange CUC's for Can $ but no all, anything less than a $1 you will get CUC's back, forcing you to leave that there. You can not use CUC's in duty free only Can $ or visa and prices have doubled in some cases.TOTAL MONEY GRAB!!!, this will hurt the Cuban economy!!!
Not a good change for Canadians traveling to Cuba. [Details]

10 days of total relaxation

Wow, this is our second time at Melia Cayo Coco. last time was before the hurricane . 4 years ago. the resort still has the beauty, charm, and same friendly and warm staff as well as new staff, who quickly bond with you making you feel you have arrived home. from the moment we arrived off the bus which by the way is a very short 15 minutes from airport we felt relaxation taking over.I want to begin by saying special thank you to two very hard working and behind the scenes mostly, ladies who without their devotion and love of their job would make a difference in this resort. First, Gippsy Lopez Reyes, a non stop first class person who ensured our stay was amazing. Second and by no means less, is her Assistant and partner,Jessica Lidia Melendrez Corzo, always on the run ensuring the resort is well represented. thank you so much.The food at melia is top notch, and the dedication of the food service and beverage staff ensured nobody went hungry or thirsty. Executive Chef Manuel and Chef Duniesky rock this place. as well Raoul pasta chef.The beach was always clean and is so big now. plenty of covered areas to find. Which makes me say that the resort is doing something great for our planet, no more straws and disposable glasses, bravo . there is plenty of reviews about this resort, however I like to mention the hard working staff that went out of their way to make us feel special. Wow - Melia Cayo Coco

A great adults-only hotel that caters more to an older crowd. Go here for a nice relaxing vacation. The rooms are large, clean and there is plenty of hot (almost too hot) water. Never an issue with either the bath or beach towels. Beach chairs are plentiful and the beach spectacular. When it's windy, the pool area becomes the real center. Forget about the pool-side bed huts - they are 'saved' by really early risers.
Internet - available for purchase in hourly increments. I didn't hear of any issues with it but I was using the service of my home providers out-of-country package and it worked flawlessly.
Food was truly great - and not only for Cuba. Good food selections with night themes. Pasta station, fresh seafood station. Desserts were truly outstanding - awesome French macarons (and I've been to Paris), bananas Foster, delicious ice creams, etc.
The real highlight was the spectacular service from the entire staff - smiles from everybody and they looked happy being there. The pool-side 24 hr snack/drink bar that was exceptionally staffed by a warm, enthusiastic and friendly group of servers - shout outs to Dannys, Dayan, and Orlando.
The entertainment was fine as long as you were not looking for a 24-hr go-go-go type of show. The entertainment staff and shows were geared to a bit older clientele.
Don't go here if you are a 20-something looking to party - this isn't the resort for you. Go here if you want a nice, relaxing place where you can unwind in the warm sun while enjoying some of the best accommodations and food in Cuba.
One last thing and it really can make a difference - please, please, please consider being a truly gracious worldly traveler by leaving a tip for the various services - maids, breakfast, lunch, dinner (especially at the a la carte restos) and bars. To us travelers, it doesn't make a huge impact to leave a tip for good service, but for those hard-working staff, it is huge. They will never, ever expect it but I know it will be truly appreciated. Beautiful, manageably-sized adults-only hotel on the best stretch of beach in Cayo Coco. Spacious, clean rooms. Excellent service from the entire staff, especially at the 24-hour pool snack bar. Awesome food too (not only for Cuba).

Skews to an older crowd not necessarily looking for a lot of entertainment options. Another a la carte restaurant could be added.

3rd time

Best trip ever! they can't guarantee it but we had sun everyday. Perfect!
I had a problem with my room key reader. I went to the front desk and the clerk determined it was the room key reader. The repairman was there before I got back from the front desk.

Lots of food and variety even for my wife that isn't a red meat eater. Lots of fish and seafood. Most dinners had a theme which made things interesting to say the least. Breakfast is a big thing for us and we were never disappointed by the variety.

I notice that some people have complained about the lack of entertainment. The nightly entertainment is fantastic! Some of the singers' voices, Wow!!

This is an adult only and may not be suitable for those that want to "party". I'm sure there are resorts for that. We go for the peace and quiet except for the waves lapping up on shore.

Our rooms were extremely clean and the maid did our room at a time that was very convenient for us....we're at the beach.

I don't know about the internet as I leave all that stuff at home. I want an escape!

Just love this place. No disappointments!! We are already planning our trip for next year. Maybe we can sneak in two trips in. [Details]

No lobster dinner this year unless you wanted to pay extra. Last year the lobster tail supper was on a Friday. At the outside dining there was a fire pit for a pig roast. We never had one the whole week we were there.

Incredible hotel, elderly crowd

This hotel was amazing! The staff were absolutely incredible!!!!! The food was great, the room was beautiful, the beach was amazing. The only thing we were disappointed with was the "excitement" level of the other guests. We're 20 and almost all of the other guests were 65 . We thought "adults only" would mean that the parties would be awesome and we'd have a wild time sans crying babies and misbehaved children... This was more of a retirement home on the beach. Excellent time

This was our third time at the Melia and it was great yet again. The staff are excellent and make it fun to be there. They work hard to make the stay enjoyable and fun.

The food was excellent. The Mediterranean A La Carte was again our favourite. The buffets were well stocked and managed. The meat cook could see me coming and got the extra shrimp going for my wife.

We have tried a couple other sites in Cayo Coco and this one out supplied and out staffed the others. Highly recommend going. We will be going again next year for our fourth time. [Details]

A Great Vacation

We had a great vacation during our stay at the Melia Cayo Coco. The food was great and there was a very good selection. I would like to thank Omar and Beatiz for going out of their way to look after us. While the room was old it was in good shape and very clean. The beach was beautiful and there were lots of activities to participate in if you wanted to. I would especially like to thank Pedro for the kick boxing lessons he gave my son, it made his vacation. The entertainment was enjoyable especially the water show.

Melia Cayo Coco is our first experience with Cuba and it could not have been better!. The room was clean and spacious and everything worked. The staff was excellent throughout the resort. The beach was clean, sandy, and free of seaweed. I always looked forward to eating because the food was so good especially La Terraza and Arena Real a la cart which we tried. Plenty of entertainment in the evenings like live music and shows. The wind was strong (30 km/h) the whole time but you wouldn't know unless you went to the beach. Luckily the weather was hot enough that week so the wind didn't feel chilly. [Details]

EXTRAORDINARY IN AN EXTRAORDINARY PLACE

It is always a pleasure to meet everybody at this resort. They are friendly and very professional. we went for 14 days in August and was our seven time at this hotel and it will be from now on for ever unless something drastic happens. I had the pleasure to meet the new General Manager " Juan Pereira " when he actually started at this resort. Very professional and hard worker.Always on top of everything. We would see him from early in the morning to late at night giving orders and checking the operations of the hotel. In regards to the place itself, " is paradise ". Beautiful beach, nice people, good food, good size resort and quiet. The only thing that requires in my view is just to continue to renovate the remaining of the rooms. I also want to point it out that renovated or not the rooms are spacious and very clean. I loved the quietness of the melia, adults only. Staff was very friendly, Staff was slow with water and coffee in the morning but they were short staffed, maybe because it's January. Beach was great,very windy in January, won't return at this time of year again, staff was short in lobby bar as well, in the afternoon, again it's January and they must be short on staff. Favourite vacation spot in Cuba!!

We visited Melia Cayo Coco in early Nov. and again in early Dec. This was our 7th and 8th visit to MCC. I can't say enough about this resort. From the wonderful staff, great food and fabulous beach, MCC is all that you need in a vacation. The atmosphere is very relaxing. As returning guests, we are always greeted at reception with a warm welcome and cool refreshing drink. The gardens are very well maintained and our rooms are always clean and tidy...a true testament to the attentive cleaning staff. The real gem of this resort is the wonderful staff. Always ready to accommodate your requests. We have travelled to other areas and resorts in Cuba, but by far Melia Cayo Coco is the best!! [Details]

The best resort we have been to in Cuba. My husband and I have stayed at the Melia Cayo Coco twice and are planning a return trip in August. The reception staff are very pleasant, attentive and helpful. The wait staff in the bars are knowledgeable and prompt to supply the best refreshments of your choice. The lobby public washrooms are the cleanest we have seen in Cuba, excellent job, thank you ladies. The maid service in our room was excellent, it was always a joy to return to our room to see a new towel creation waiting for us. The dining staff were pleasant and helpful, always making sure you had a wonderful dining experience. The food is the best we have had, plenty of choice and no long line ups. The beach was cleaned daily and there was never a shortage of beds. Lunch at the beach restaurant was made better by the live Cuban music, the band was excellent. The entertainment staff do a wonderful job engaging guests in activities during the day and showcasing their talents in the evening performances. To be honest , we liked everything. We stayed on the laguna at 3712
Beautiful, quiet area I would definitely recommend to upgrade to laguna accommodations
Everybody, and I mean everybody tried to make our stay memorable
I wouldn't be fair if I would mention just couple of names
I want to thank all of Melia Cayo Coco employees for everything they didn't to make us feel between friends ( almost family )
Food was good in every restaurant
Drinks where fantastic at every bar
Try to take some tours and see how is the real Cuban life

My husband and I just returned from Melia Cayo Coco and we enjoyed our stay so much. I have visited Cuba on three other occasions but this resort was by far the best experience I've ever had. The room was comfortable. We upgraded and stayed on the lagoon. The pool was lovely, food was very, very good best I've ever had in Cuba. The beach is beyond beautiful. The service, the Melia staff are exceptional. Everything was amazing. We are already planning to return next winter. I think it's safe to say that we will be taking all our winter vacations going forward at Melia Cayo Coco. [Details]

Great Vacation at a Fantastic Resort!

We have vacationed in Cuba now 23 times and our stay at the Melia Cayo Coco was the best by far. The staff at this resort are excellent! They are always engaging and most speak excellent English. We really enjoyed the musicians that played regularly at 9 am and 5 pm beside the pool area. The violin, trumpet and clarinet players were added such atmosphere to the resort. Every night the entertainment in the lobby bar was excellent. Our room was very clean and spacious. The beach is in my view the best one in Cuba. The food was very good, had steak twice and it was cooked just the way I asked for it. Our waitress in the main restaurant for breakfast and lunch(Yamilet) made our stay extra special and provide excellent service. We are so looking forward to returning in the very near future. We keep returning to MCC because the staff are so welcoming, kind and caring. We love the band, Son del Rio, that plays at the beach restaurant starting at 12:30 pm, Tuesday through Friday. There is another band that plays on Sundays. They are good too. [Details]

Our Cuba Resort of Choice

This resort has become our favourite Sun destination. We have been 4 times in 6 years, and we are bound to return next year. We have been to Cuba countless times in 17 years, and have stayed in a variety of accommodation, including private homes. We've seen it all! Most of all, we love the staff, who became instant friends and remember us every time. The standard room quality is top notch, the food is great, the drinks are fine, the beach is excellent, the a la carte restaurants are wonderful. The way it is laid out, with blocks of 4–8 rooms surrounded by beautiful, well-maintained gardens, makes it seem like you are living in a village. The live music is first rate, and don't miss the Cuban son bands that play at the open-air beach restaurant at lunchtime.

Every day, we'd walk on the white sand beach collecting sea shells and watch the sunrise around 7. You might see Joel raking the seaweed. Back to the snack bar where Yarima makes delicious cortados coffees. Then to the buffet breakfast where Charlie makes the best omelettes. And that's just the start of the day! You won't regret going! By the way, many, many people go back again and again, sometimes twice in the same season!

We also like the short, direct flight from our city, and the short ground transportation time. [Details]

Woman travelling solo! Incredible!

As a woman travelling alone I was a little anxious as to what to expect. This resort went over and above my expectations. The staff were amazing! They went out of their way to make sure I always had what I needed and I always felt not just safe but spoiled! I gained weight because the food is on point at each and every meal. I did the buffet but the Beach restaurant was by far my favourite with Cuban BBQ and live mariachi band every lunch. The a la cartes were also excellent but a bit boring if travelling alone. The animation staff!!! I joined in all the fun and attended all the shows. The excellent quality of entertainment was astounding. Never a dull moment from painting on the beach to rum tasting to foam party at the pool. I was never bored. My room was beautiful and the cleaning staff did an excellent job making my room a sanctuary when exhausted. Fancy folded bedding, always a fresh water bottle and a lovely porch to sit on when tired out. The beach! Pristine! Swam in the beautiful clear water, went on a snorkeling expedition for 20 pesos (about 24$) I felt like I was swimming in an aquarium! Worth every penny. The lobby is a gathering place before and after supper with live music every night and also dancing. The pool 24hr snack bar! So delicious, the drinks are amazing and the food just like my favourite fast food. The last thing I want to say is about the guests. Travelling alone I met so so many wonderful Canadians , Brits and Europeans. The guests were so kind. Many were returning guests so they knew all the tricks. I was invited many many times to dine with them. As it is a small resort (250 guests) by the end of the week I had added friends to my Facebook from everywhere. Most guests are Canadians and you can't beat their warmth and kindness. Back home one day and already looking to re-book for July! [Details]
