Great vacation at Melia Cayo Coco

We came on the 9th and right after the Rafael, which delayed trips in Varadero, but no issues for Cayo Coco (power, food, water). Not impacted by the earthquake as well.

The aftermath of this was few windy days with wavy waters - still enjoyable.

We chose Melia Cayo Coco and we were spot on, great resort and great people with everything you hope for when going on vacation. The food was great (for people looking for choices, you can find your eggs, bacon, fruits in the morning, I cannot talk about lunch as we skipped every day, and for dinner we tried all 3 restaurants, all with good choices). The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The beautiful beach has plenty of sun beds and palapas. Wide beach front where one can walk for a good 30 minute. Pool is not too deep(unfortunately), but again plenty of spots into the shade.

Wi-Fi is working very well, from reception to the rooms and also at the beach. 

Beautiful renovated rooms with AC working properly and bed was comfy. Every day , water & beer was replenished, when needed.

All the above possible through the hard work of the people trying to offer a memorable vacation. Some of them, I had the pleasure of meeting them - Jorge from lobby bar, Marcos, Felipe, Niurka, and many, many others. 

For tipping we used CAD/USD bills, coins it's difficult for locals to be exchanged.

Everything that you can spare and bring with you (sweets and candy, hygiene products, medicine, crayons and coloring books, powder milk), would make a difference and would be greatly appreciated.

Definitely a resort to return in the future and also to recommend. Reasons for it: the beach & water,and of course the people. [Details]

Second visit and definitely not the last!!

My mom and I did a mother daughter trip at the Melia Cayo Coco back in April 2024 we loved it so much we took my dad and brother back from November 2 - November 9 for our first family vacation in almost a decade! It was my fourth time in Cuba and second time at this resort.

We absolutely LOVE this resort, like before, it exceeded ALL expectations!!!

The resort is small and has a quiet atmosphere, which is perfect for relaxing. It is not a party scene and majority of the tourist tend to be older, some couples and families; whom were all outstanding & kind people!! The gardens were very well maintained. We were also pleased that there were no bracelets required! Unlike April where we never experienced any issues with the mosquitos, this time they were terrible I was covered in mosquito bites by the time I had left. There were a lot of cats around the resort in April, not so many this time around though, but was still a highlight for us as cat lovers! The resort offers free wifi, which has significantly improved since last time!! There were only a few shops on the resort, however there is a market off resort only 1.7km away if you are looking for something to do :)

Regarding entertainment we loved listening to the saxophone player at the pool in the evenings. The entertainment staff offered games at the beach in the morning and by the pool in the afternoon. The activities were more diverse then last time with changing up more of the types of games they played, however I realize this resort is more centred towards relaxing so I think it's fantastic they still have games to accommodate those who want to be involved!!! There was live music every evening in the lobby prior to showtime. The shows were as awesome as they were before, it was great to see they had changed the dances as well which made it feel like we hadn't seen it before!!

The food was exceptional (yet again), compared to other cuba resorts we have visited in the past they are excellent. During our stay we had no issues with shortage of amenities, food, beverages etc. A highlight for us coming back is that they served champagne & wine during lunch/dinner.

Our room was in the 64 block (6412/6421) which was a little far from where we stayed the last time in the 99 block. The bathroom was newly renovated, the beds were comfortable and the room was always replenished with water and beer. In April we noticed tiny ants all over the room, on the desk, on the bathroom counter and in our suitcases, however there was no issue with that what so ever this visit!!

My mom and I attended the return customers dinner which was the absolute highlight of our trip! Definitely something special and tailored to what the resort strives on! With that being said, our main reason for returning is the incredible staff. To mention those who made our trip memorable the first time and even better the second time include Yolanda and Joel at the buffet. Marcos at the lobby bar. Inti & Adonis at the pool bar. Jesus at the beach bar. Arianna, Chocolate mama, Yandy, Yilena, victor, chino & others with the entertainment staff. As well as Prince, a wonderful face to see around the resort everyday!

I absolutely will be returning to this resort again in the near future - it was an incredible experience both times & unlike any other. We are so grateful for all the staff & wonderful friends we met that made our trip unforgettable! [Details]

Our New Spot

I was thinking of writing a bad review so we could keep this place our secret but that wouldn't fair to all the wonderful people we met that made our vacation memorable. I've been to Cuba 11 times and this resort was the best for us. Part of that is it adults only with most other resorts you have to pay extra to be on the adult side of that resort. I can go on forever with everything we liked but I am not. I would definitely recommend this place for food, fun and drink. The employees couldn't do enough for you. Always smiling, saying hello and tried to keep a smile on their face to keep a smile in our face. They are the true stars of this resort. GM Bernardo was everywhere making sure that things were running as smoothly as possible. If you want to try Cuba or have been there but try another resort, Melia Cayo Coco is your place. I could go on and on so if anyone has questions I am happy to answer them the best I can. There is a reason why they are the #1 resort in Cayo Coco. [Details]

We were here for a week following the reopening. It has been a few years since we were here. During the week we encountered no shortages. Staff have been great. A few things to note: although the pool is new the floor needs to be cleaned already grimy and slippery. Rooms was good although not updated in bathroom. Bathtub is very slippery. Grounds well kept. We were not expecting a lot from cuban all inclusive in the post covid, but we almost didn't get any activities at the hotel. Also, we learned when we arrived that the hotel was closing the day after the end of our vacation for renovation during all summer. That means that we didn't have a lot of choices at the buffet, there was nobody. We feel like we didn't live the true experience at this hotel, that is popular and liked by a lot of tourists. One day at the buffet, the man that was cooking the meat did a middle finger to my boyfriend, for no apparent reason. We were really polite with all the staff there and we believe this was completely disrespectful. We didn't get any compensation for any of these inconvenients. [Details]

A perfect getaway

I have travelled to many 5 star resorts, and nothing comes close to service and peacefullness found at Melia Cayo Coco. The staff is absolutely fantastic ; friendly, welcoming, and genuine. I'd always look forward to my chats with them, and it made it feel like a home away from home.

The resort itself is beautiful, and will only become better as we've been informed that they are soon undergoing renovations. The greenery found on the resort is lucious and truly makes it feel like a paradise. It is extremely well kept, and home to many innocent little creatures such as hermit grabs, lizards, crabs, cats. My partner and I were always looking forward to seeing them. The beach is gorgeous. Beautifully maintained and clean. You will see quite a few fish too! Friendly little fellas. Make sure to try the mangos from the mango salesman walking on the beach. Best mangos ever!

The lobby is one of my favourite areas. It was rich in night activities and entertainment, while also being a great place to wind down and enjoy a delicious coffee. We absolutely loved the presence of live musicians through the day; soothing saxophone, calming clarinet... they were refreshing from the chaotic music that other resorts tend to play.

The resort also had an awesome Cuban day. They served freshly grilled lobster, fish and pork by their beach area, accompanied by a generous buffet and lovely live entertainment. There was a band aswell as dancers who were filled with life. We thoroughly enjoyed getting a taste of their culture.

The buffet has good variety - I highly recommend eating their fruits. The papaya and mangos are something else. I could not go about my day without them! Service was great too. We always looked forward at being greeted by Joel, Giovanni and Taidee.

Fabulous Time!!!

We had a Fabulous time, second time back at Melia Cayo Coco, in less then a year. Very quiet and relaxing resort, in which is what we look for. The Staff are very welcoming, all are very friendly, especially if you make the time to stop and chat with them. They work so hard to keep everything so clean.
We were there during the Tourism Fair, and during those days, wow big difference, (from our first stay) I understand they made sure everything was top notch, while promoting the resort, and having VIP guest from the FitCuba attending, I am sure they brought in extra stock, as there was no shortages, and all meals were delish, and cooked to perfection. Noticed after the Tourism Fair was over, the next day on May 6th, you could tell Staff were tired, and food seemed to go back to the way it was on our first trip. In which we still enjoyed, just seemed not as much selection, and not as much care went into how things were cooked. They still do an awesome job, for the amount of shortages they have to deal with.
This has turned into our favorite resort in Cuba, due to the Staff, beach, quiet grounds, and the short drive from the airport. So much that we are already booked for our 3rd trip back. Super séjour en couple au Melia Cayo Coco

Nous avons séjourné début juin 2024 au Melia Cayo Coco pour de courtes vacances en couple de 5 jours. Et l'endroit était idéal. Vaste mais compact, on est toujours près des services, mais assez loin pour être en paix. Les chambres sont un peu vieillotes, mais très spacieuses et silencieuses. A noter à ce temps là de l'année des vols de viel avion russe le matin vers 7h à très basse altitude pour pulvériser contre les insectes. Un peu bruyant mais on s'y fait très facilement.

Le site est superbe, la piscine grande quoique peu profonde et toujours au soleil, peu d'ombre malheureusement. En juin, aucun problème à se trouver une palapa à la plage, où il vente toujours assez pour amoindrir la chaleur. Et quelle plage, superbe, tranquille, un vrai coin de paradis.

Le personnel de l'hôtel est toujours très poli, disponible et bien attentionné. On mange bien, quoi qu'on voit qu'ils ont des ressources limitées pour importer des denrées alimentaires. Néanmoins, on mange toujours bien, c'est assez varié et avec les grillades sur demande, on s'en sort très bien . Calmars, crevettes, paella, excellents poissons.

Plusieurs petits bars permettent de s'hydrater tout au longe de la journée, à la plage où à la piscine. Complexe pour adulte seulement, c'est calme et les animations sont aussi peu bruyantes. On y va pour se détendre, pas pour être sur le party.

Staying in Melia coco was absolutely wonderful experience, first of the resort was wonderful and relaxing as it was an adult only resort, food was very tasty and the rooms was cleaned everyday with ac as well, everything I needed was on the resort and we didn't need to go out the resort. Secondly the staff was good and they go and beyond in delivering costumer service, they were very friendly and are hostile.

From the initial pick up at Jardine del ray airport (only a 15 min bus ride)..to our greeting at melia cayo coco up until our last second everthing was top notch! The weather was also perfect...staff at this resort are incredible! Yes, the beach is great! and it did not disappoint.. rooms are a little outdated, but everything was super clean and in working order. The cleaning staff here are top notch..everywhere! beach bar, rooms, lobby..super clean. This place runs like a well oiled machine. Food was decent too! Always something to eat and a good variety! We returned to Melia for the fifth time and loved every minute of it. We never get bored of Melia. Our highlight of this resort and a big reason we return is the music at lunch in the Ranchon. We love the band Son del Rio and love to dance with them. We also love the people. They are so friendly and welcoming you feel like part of one big family. In fact, we were here to attend the wedding of a staff member we met here the first time we visited. Melia is such a lovely place to vacation! The staff are so friendly, everyone says “hola” as you walk by. The beach is amazing. Everyone we've talked to says the same thing, that this is the best place they've stayed. My family came across this resort on our second trip to Cuba, and we keep saying we're so glad that we didn't have to keep trying all kinds of resorts to find our favourite! [Details]
