Melia Cayo Coco is our first experience with Cuba and it could not have been better!. From the friendly and most helpful buffet staff to the housekeeping ladies who work so hard to make our stay wonderful and carefree, we found all of the resort employees really great at their jobs. The pool is fabulous, the beach is awesome and the entertainment was everything we could have asked for. The a la carte restaurants that we visited were great as well. [Details]

poor coffee, unfortunate cold eggs for breakfast at the International a la carte restaurant, went to the buffet for breakfast after that which is always good. Our group of 6 could not get internet access.

Minor issues, our Renovated Room was amazing. Only small issue was the hot water non existent the last 2 full days. No big deal. Buffet Orange Juice should be freshly squeezed in my opinion. That's it nothing else negative.

The room was clean and spacious and everything worked. The staff was excellent throughout the resort. The beach was clean, sandy, and free of seaweed. I always looked forward to eating because the food was so good especially La Terraza and Arena Real a la cart which we tried. Plenty of entertainment in the evenings like live music and shows. The wind was strong (30 km/h) the whole time but you wouldn't know unless you went to the beach. Luckily the weather was hot enough that week so the wind didn't feel chilly. [Details]

It is always a pleasure to meet everybody at this resort. They are friendly and very professional. we went for 14 days in August and was our seven time at this hotel and it will be from now on for ever unless something drastic happens. I had the pleasure to meet the new General Manager " Juan Pereira " when he actually started at this resort. Very professional and hard worker.Always on top of everything. We would see him from early in the morning to late at night giving orders and checking the operations of the hotel. In regards to the place itself, " is paradise ". Beautiful beach, nice people, good food, good size resort and quiet. The only thing that requires in my view is just to continue to renovate the remaining of the rooms. I also want to point it out that renovated or not the rooms are spacious and very clean. I loved the quietness of the melia, adults only. Staff was very friendly, Staff was slow with water and coffee in the morning but they were short staffed, maybe because it's January. Beach was great,very windy in January, won't return at this time of year again, staff was short in lobby bar as well, in the afternoon, again it's January and they must be short on staff. Favourite vacation spot in Cuba!!

We visited Melia Cayo Coco in early Nov. and again in early Dec. This was our 7th and 8th visit to MCC. I can't say enough about this resort. From the wonderful staff, great food and fabulous beach, MCC is all that you need in a vacation. The atmosphere is very relaxing. As returning guests, we are always greeted at reception with a warm welcome and cool refreshing drink. The gardens are very well maintained and our rooms are always clean and tidy...a true testament to the attentive cleaning staff. The real gem of this resort is the wonderful staff. Always ready to accommodate your requests. We have travelled to other areas and resorts in Cuba, but by far Melia Cayo Coco is the best!! [Details]

The best resort we have been to in Cuba. My husband and I have stayed at the Melia Cayo Coco twice and are planning a return trip in August. The reception staff are very pleasant, attentive and helpful. The wait staff in the bars are knowledgeable and prompt to supply the best refreshments of your choice. The lobby public washrooms are the cleanest we have seen in Cuba, excellent job, thank you ladies. The maid service in our room was excellent, it was always a joy to return to our room to see a new towel creation waiting for us. The dining staff were pleasant and helpful, always making sure you had a wonderful dining experience. The food is the best we have had, plenty of choice and no long line ups. The beach was cleaned daily and there was never a shortage of beds. Lunch at the beach restaurant was made better by the live Cuban music, the band was excellent. The entertainment staff do a wonderful job engaging guests in activities during the day and showcasing their talents in the evening performances. To be honest , we liked everything. We stayed on the laguna at 3712
Beautiful, quiet area I would definitely recommend to upgrade to laguna accommodations
Everybody, and I mean everybody tried to make our stay memorable
I wouldn't be fair if I would mention just couple of names
I want to thank all of Melia Cayo Coco employees for everything they didn't to make us feel between friends ( almost family )
Food was good in every restaurant

My husband and I just returned from Melia Cayo Coco and we enjoyed our stay so much. I have visited Cuba on three other occasions but this resort was by far the best experience I've ever had. The room was comfortable. We upgraded and stayed on the lagoon. The pool was lovely, food was very, very good best I've ever had in Cuba. The beach is beyond beautiful. The service, the Melia staff are exceptional. Everything was amazing. We are already planning to return next winter. Great Vacation at a Fantastic Resort!

We have vacationed in Cuba now 23 times and our stay at the Melia Cayo Coco was the best by far. The staff at this resort are excellent! They are always engaging and most speak excellent English. We really enjoyed the musicians that played regularly at 9 am and 5 pm beside the pool area. The violin, trumpet and clarinet players were added such atmosphere to the resort. Every night the entertainment in the lobby bar was excellent. Our room was very clean and spacious. The beach is in my view the best one in Cuba. The food was very good, had steak twice and it was cooked just the way I asked for it. Our waitress in the main restaurant for breakfast and lunch(Yamilet) made our stay extra special and provide excellent service. We are so looking forward to returning in the very near future. Our Cuba Resort of Choice

This resort has become our favourite Sun destination. We have been 4 times in 6 years, and we are bound to return next year. We have been to Cuba countless times in 17 years, and have stayed in a variety of accommodation, including private homes. We've seen it all! Most of all, we love the staff, who became instant friends and remember us every time. The standard room quality is top notch, the food is great, the drinks are fine, the beach is excellent, the a la carte restaurants are wonderful. The way it is laid out, with blocks of 4–8 rooms surrounded by beautiful, well-maintained gardens, makes it seem like you are living in a village. The live music is first rate, and don't miss the Cuban son bands that play at the open-air beach restaurant at lunchtime.

Every day, we'd walk on the white sand beach collecting sea shells and watch the sunrise around 7. You might see Joel raking the seaweed. Back to the snack bar where Yarima makes delicious cortados coffees. Then to the buffet breakfast where Charlie makes the best omelettes. And that's just the start of the day! You won't regret going! By the way, many, many people go back again and again, sometimes twice in the same season!

We also like the short, direct flight from our city, and the short ground transportation time. [Details]

Woman travelling solo! Incredible!

As a woman travelling alone I was a little anxious as to what to expect. This resort went over and above my expectations. The staff were amazing! They went out of their way to make sure I always had what I needed and I always felt not just safe but spoiled! I gained weight because the food is on point at each and every meal. I did the buffet but the Beach restaurant was by far my favourite with Cuban BBQ and live mariachi band every lunch. The a la cartes were also excellent but a bit boring if travelling alone. The animation staff!!! I joined in all the fun and attended all the shows. The excellent quality of entertainment was astounding. Never a dull moment from painting on the beach to rum tasting to foam party at the pool. I was never bored. My room was beautiful and the cleaning staff did an excellent job making my room a sanctuary when exhausted. Fancy folded bedding, always a fresh water bottle and a lovely porch to sit on when tired out. The beach! Pristine! Swam in the beautiful clear water, went on a snorkeling expedition for 20 pesos (about 24$) I felt like I was swimming in an aquarium! Worth every penny. The lobby is a gathering place before and after supper with live music every night and also dancing. The pool 24hr snack bar! So delicious, the drinks are amazing and the food just like my favourite fast food. The last thing I want to say is about the guests. Travelling alone I met so so many wonderful Canadians , Brits and Europeans. The guests were so kind. Many were returning guests so they knew all the tricks. I was invited many many times to dine with them. As it is a small resort (250 guests) by the end of the week I had added friends to my Facebook from everywhere. Most guests are Canadians and you can't beat their warmth and kindness. Back home one day and already looking to re-book for July! [Details]

The hotel is lovely and relaxing. The beach is beautiful and the service is amazing. The food is delicious and entertainment is great! The only downside this stay was the people who were saving spots at the pool at 6am and not showing up until 8-11am. Not fair at all and the rule not to save was not enforced by staff. [Details]

Wonderful holiday

Perfection!

The MCC is a perfect resort for a quiet getaway from the Ontario weather this time of year.

Even if I was a complainer, I am not, nor is my wife, I couldn't find anything that wasn't to our liking.

Our room was spotless everyday upon returning from the pool and we never had to ask for beer, water or pop, it was always there in the fridge.

The food was nothing short of outstanding. The al a carte portions were a little small but after gorging at the buffet, it was a nice break to actually leave the restaurant comfortably full.

Service was always friendly, attentive and quick.

The facility itself was very clean and I don't think a day went by that we didn't see someone on the end of a mop or a broom.

I met a man who was on his 20th trip to MCC and I can honestly say we would go back in a heartbeat. [Details]

We had a wonderful vacation at Melia Cayo Coco, just what we needed. The hotel is small with well maintained grounds and not crowded. We never had to wait in long line ups and never had a problem getting a lounger at beach or pool. Maid service was excellent and fresh towels were provided daily upon request or at the pool. Food was wonderful and the choices were excellent in the buffet and at the restaurants, no need to go hungry here or to complain. The hotel has different bars/shows to enjoy in the evening or just sitting by the pool was super. We enjoyed the beach everyday and the beach restaurant was a great place to eat, thanks to the friendly staff there! The New Year's Eve party, show and buffet was excellent!! The beach was wonderful with lots of loungers for everyone, and great for long walks. Food was great here and we always enjoyed everyone meal, lots to choose from- no complaints. No lines anywhere and never crowded.
The weak points
Rooms could use an update.

The food was a pleasant surprise; well presented and tasty. The resort was clean and well appointed. The staff were unfailingly professional and caring The masseuse was a gem. I went 4xs. The music and shows were well done. The Tenors were AMAZING
The weak points
Music caters to 70 and 80 year olds. A little too much Elvis and Frank stuff. A night devoted to the best of the rock and disco scene would be appreciated

The resort was definitely of the highest rating for Cuba; 5 star. The service was exceptional and the food was high quality and presented well in the buffet and a la carte restaurants. Great entertainment nightly, however not necessarily geared towards the “disco/nightlife” concept, but rather more relaxing and romantic music. A lot of returning clients, and with good reason. Melia Cayo Coco

Having stayed at the Pullman on our last visit my first impression of the Melia was that it wasn't as nice of a resort. However, as the week went on the Melia surpassed the Pullman in a few ways and we have decided we will return the the Melia next year.

The strong points
The food was great, beaches wonderful, adult crowd only, never had to wait in long lines for food or drinks, beach grill is excellent with table service. This is a smaller resort so no big crowds at bars, beach or restaurants.
The weak points
Rooms are not great. They need to be updated. We did update our room after a day and room was a little better but still just ok.

Another wonderful week at the Melia Cayo Coco

My wife and I returned to the Melia for the third visit this year. Once again the stay met all of our expectations from the greeting at reception to easy check out. The room may be dated but the room service staff do an exceptional at keeping the room clean. The food has always been good and it was again on this trip. The grounds are always well taken groomed and have had some improvements over the time since the hurricane. The staff are wonderful were remembering us from our last visit from the bar staff to the wait staff in the restaurants and the animation team. We will be returning in 2020 for another wonderful stay. [Details]

Fabulous Time Again

The Melia at Cayo Coco was as fantastic this time as last time but now the beach is amazing. We stayed a number of years ago and the beach was quite small and disappeared with the tide. Not so now. Now it is wonderful and expansive. As before, all other aspects of the hotel make for a superior vacation. The food is well prepared and varied with plenty available. The restaurants provide a quieter and more intimate dining experience if you so prefer. The staff is friendly and helpful and totally professional from the lobby to the gardeners. There is every effort to please. Besides the activities and the pool and beach and the evening performances, there is entertainment daily in the lobby over the dinner hour which is top notch. We highly recommend the Melia as a marvelous hotel for a Cuban vacation. [Details]

Excellent beach, gorgeous pool, ample seating at both, attentive staff, varied activities, great facilities. Oh yes, the Melia is only 15 minutes from the airport.
The weak points
To add anything here would be to nit pick. Rooms are constantly being updated, ours had not yet been. But everything was totally functional and comfortable and clean so if you need everything to be new, request an upgraded room.

Second great stay

I have been to Cuba five times and this was my second stay at Melia Cayo Coco. I was just as pleased as my first time. Check in was speedy. My room was very comfortable and clean. The buffet had good variety and the service friendly. The staff throughout the resort couldn't be nicer. The ground keepers kept it looking great. White sandy beach and the warm Atlantic, hard to beat. Of all the years coming to Cuba this was by far the best dance group of all. Wonderful Vacation!

We have visited the resort 7 times and are looking forward to our next visit. Our room was a junior lagoon suite - we really enjoy the breakfast location upgrade that comes with staying on the lagoon. The beach is beautiful, food great and the entertainment is terrific. Melia Cayo Coco - Amazing vacation

We were at the Melia Cayo Coco the firs week of November with our daughter. It was our first time. We were looking for an adult and smaller size hotel relaxing with entertainment. We loved our vacation at Melia Cayo Coco! It was recommended by a friend and my vacation agent. The food was great and had a great variety to choose from. The buffet was fresh, delicious and constantly refilled (French latte coffees). We loved the live music (by the pool and the lobby), night -singers and the shows. The entertainment and variety of activities was engaging. Normally, I do not not participate but the animation team is great and I played volleyball, participated at the beach painting session with Richi, pool party. Management (Juan) and all the staff are excellent, friendly and kindly (Alden, Jorge, Jesus, Carlos and Richi-painting) and they are all working very hard to ensure that everybody gets something out and love it. My hotel room was old but clean with a view of the beach.
Would certainly recommend the Melia Cayo Coco for those who are looking for a relaxing and beautiful place to go to and for the entertainment. If you're young and single and looking for parties, this is not the place, perhaps you could have fun if you're looking for entertainment, activities and a relaxing place. You will find more couples then singles. I think it's the right balance, it's a win-win for everyone. Keep the good work!
