Week stay at the Melia

We overall had a great time. The resort is quiet, with activities during the day. However, if you are looking for night life, this is not the resort for you. The beach is amazing and clean. The staff are very friendly and get to know you, from the entertainment team to the gardeners. We came back with a collection of grass creations gifted to us by the garden staff. The food is very good at the buffet, the seafood was very tasty. The restaurant food was delightful as well as the service. The stay was not without hiccups however. I did catch sight of a cockroach at the buffet table which is unfortunate. We had some ants in our room as well. The bed was not the most comfortable and there were some stains (coffee maybe) on the sheets. Overall, the resort is beautiful, staff are lovely, and is a great place to relax your days away or participate in day activities. The cons would not prevent us from coming back. [Details]

We would like you to know that we have worked hard to eliminate insects, both in common areas and in the rooms, and indeed we have achieved great results. However, sometimes these reappear, but we continue applying the vectors control and deep cleaning programs as established by our hygiene and health department. Unfortunately, sometimes we do not have sufficiently effective products. In any case, if insects appear in the rooms, something that can occur due to the environment in which we are placed, this can be reported to our Guest Experience department, and they will send someone to spray the room. We would also like you to know that upon guest request we can make a change of mattresses or satisfy any other request you may have, you just have to let us know. However, your observation about stains (perhaps coffee) on the sheets will be discussed with your room maid and block supervisor. Another Amazing stay!

This is our second time at Melia Cayo Coco and will be returning next year. We have been to many throughout Cuba and have discovered this gem. Not too big and you can always find a very social vibe, but it is also very peaceful and relaxing. The massage is a must, but book as soon as you arrive. The resort has an elegance that begins with the beautiful glass and white lobby area. The resort is being continuously maintained and improved. The restaurants have always been very enjoyable. We have not had issues with food as we appreciate the grilled fish, calamari and roasted meat with vegetables. However, you must be willing to ‘go with the flow' and you will always find something.
The staff is friendly and be sure to make contact with Prince! His positive energy is hard to miss! He will do whatever he can to make your stay memorable and help plan activities. The beach is SPECTACULAR! The sand is like powder and spans kilometres. We travel at the end of February and finding a place to sit on the beach has never been a problem. There are also areas to snorkel near the rock. However, you can also take a boat out to reefs with more variety of fish. [Details]

We just came back from a great week at this resort. It's a beautiful spot with a fabulous beach and great swimming.

Our room was fine, clean and simple with a nice balcony.

The food and drink was plentiful and lots of choice. I know some people will disagree but I was quite happy with what was on offer.

What makes the place really special is the friendly and professional staff who go out of their way to make sure your stay is a good one. The standout for me was Jose who gives great massages and is a lovely human being.

I would definitely recommend it to others and I'm hoping to go for a longer stay next year! [Details]

Amazing stay at Melia Cayo Coco!!

I've been recommended to stay at this hotel by multiple people, as it is known to have a great reputation. I can definitely confirm that this resort is fantastic in every aspect. The staff are extremely warm and attentive in all areas of the hotel. The nightly entertainment is also incredible, they have live music and dancers who perform a different theme every night.

The cuisine in both the buffet and restaurants is delicious and they really do implement their Cuban cuisine, which I love! One of my favourite things to eat from the buffet are the crepes with honey, they taste so fresh. The snack bar also serves the BEST margarita pizzas.

The pool and beach are both so relaxing in every way. There is always an abundance of chairs and spots to choose from, whether you want to be in the sun or shade.

I HIGHLY recommend staying at this resort, they really do go above and beyond to ensure that you have an amazing time. [Details]

Fantastic two weeks at Melia Cayo Coco

This was our first trip to this resort so we wrote an email about a week before we came to Cuba. In it we asked for a ground floor room due to my husband's disability. We also asked for the room to be close to the ocean (ocean view if possible), close to the buffets, as well as a king size bed. The reply was that they would do everything they could to help us out.
When we arrived we received everything that we asked for, it couldn't be any better! We also got an invite for a special supper at the gazebo. There was also a form to fill in so we could get breakfast in bed!
The ambience with the music, saxophone, trumpet, flute, and piano players was spectacular. Such a relaxing start to the day and a relaxing way to end the day as well.
The staff are always welcoming and friendly with smiles and warm hugs, ready to help make your vacation all that you want it to be.
The beach is a beautiful powdery white sand with plenty of palapas to relax under. The ocean was warm and clear, a wonderful way to cool off from the hot sun! The pool is a wonderful option for when it was too windy and cold, it's always hot by the pool.
There is a pickle ball court as well as a billiards/poolroom and they are currently working on the sports club.
We had an absolutely wonderful time and will definitely be coming back, maybe three weeks next time. Many thanks to all the staff at the buffet, snack, and beach buffet and bar, as well as the maids and groundskeepers❤️ [Details]

Just returned from two weeks at the Melia at Cayo Coco Cuba.
Was perfect! The weather the food the whole set up was amazing.
We did not want for anything.
We are just turned seniors and don't mind paying more for quality and I believe we got exactly what we wanted.
The physical layout is very simple and the grounds are beautiful. Plenty of palapa's down at the beach.
We will be returning again except this time will be for three weeks!

Honeymoon vacation

First time here at this resort, Melia Cayo Coco. It is a beautiful and well taken care of resort paradise. It lives up to its 5 star rating. Plenty of staff to help you with your needs and look after you during your stay. We had amazing weather while staying here (very lucky). The food is very good compared to other Cuban resorts. I've been to the Melia Sol Cayo Guillermo in 2001. And I much liked it as well. This trip was very relaxing because we were on our honeymoon and wanted to relax. We plan on going to town one day to do some shopping. The only thing that was unsatisfactory was we booked our trip as honeymoon but when arrival they didn't know but they fixed it by giving us a bottle of champagne in our room. [Details]

Beautiful resort

Meliã Cayo Coco has been a very relaxing and beautiful resort. We have felt very safe the entire time here, even when taking walks off the resort. The food is fantastic, 5*. The staff are always greeting you and you are never looking for service, they are always there ready for you to order the best drinks and cappuccinos! The strong points
The food and drinks (both alcoholic and non) are perfect. The rooms and bathrooms are constantly being cleaned and it shows, they are all sparkling and fresh. The staff are super friendly and genuinely happy. We have felt very safe the whole time.
The weak points
We are used to bacon being cooked more, but you can ask the chef to cook your bacon a little bit longer if you want. There have been some biting bugs that leave a very red and itchy spot, so bring bug spray!

It is very clean here, they are always cleaning and keeping everything looking fresh and sanitary.

We had a great time. Wonderful service, very clean and a good selection of food. Even the cats were cute. Our room was nice and well kept with a renovated bathroom. The beaches were beautiful. There was a lot of different kinds of entertainment throughout the resort including the pool, the beachside restaurant as well as the lobby and theater. A shout out to Adonis, our bartender and Joseph our server at the International restaurant. Second trip to Melia

This was my second trip to Meliá Cayo Coco.
This resort is great. The grounds were very beautiful and the beach is gorgeous. The resort itself is very well run. The housekeeping staff did a fabulous job every day, the room was always spotless. As for the food, all meals were good. There was a wide variety of options. The staff made the dining experience even better with their friendly manner.
I'd like to send many thanks to Sachy Perez, who was so great throughout my stay. She always went out of her way to make sure every guest (including myself) was taken care of. Also, big thanks to Arslady and Anelbys and special thanks to Juliana for their great service. Finally, I'd like to thank Prince for all his help during my stay. I almost don't want to write a review for fear that this resort will become impossible to book. What a true gem in Cuba. We travelled to Melia Cayo Coco as a couple. We had been to Cuba on two previous occasions within the past several years. The first time was not a good experience. The second time in Holguin was good. Melia was exceptional.

Food – Yes, we didn't have peanut butter and jam. Not every possible food item was available every night. If that is your expectation go to a different country. We had turkey, roast beef, chicken, lobster, fish, pasta, and the list goes on. Every meal we had was fabulous. We certainly didn't go hungry. My thanks to all of the chef's and servers at Melia. Fabulous job. They were all friendly, attentive, and great at what they do.

Drinks – Again, there are things they don't have and this limits the drinks they can make. They didn't have cranberry juice. So pick strawberry. But, if you go with an open mind and ask the bartenders to give you some ideas, you may be surprised. They didn't have Irish Cream, a favorite of mine. So I asked what the bar tender could do. I discovered a Rum Alexander which was fabulous. Focus on what they do have and you will be happy.

Pool – The pool was chilly but so are the nights. By mid-day, the water always felt refreshing and because it is very shallow on one end, you can wade up to your ankles, knees, or whatever your preference is and visit with friends.

Entertainment – I loved the balance. At the pool, they weren't there hounding you all day. They would come in each day in the afternoon with a game and it was always fun for those who joined in. The music by the pool was a mix and I loved that they played a good amount of Cuban / Spanish music. Why listen to techno or US music all day when you came to Cuba to be in Cuba. We found the music volumes just right. The lobby had live music every evening that was top notch. The saxophone player on the ledge by the pool on the first day was a real win. Fantastic. And the entertainers were incredibly talented. All of them. The break dancing routine was astounding.

Rooms – We were in an older room and our friends stayed in a newer room. Both were fine. If you want more modern ask for a newer upgraded room, if they are available. However, both rooms were very clean, the beds were comfortable and we had fresh water, pop, and beer each day. The water pressure could fall quite a bit in the evenings when everyone is getting ready for dinner, but there was always enough to get the job done. The water can take a while to get warm. Up to four minutes. Just be patient and it will get hot. Very hot. Every room had two great umbrellas that came in really handy one night. That was a nice touch.

Grounds – The gardeners. What can I say. I enjoyed waking up each morning and walking along the path to all of their warm welcomes, smiles, and joyful attitudes. They are always making hats and flowers and insects from leaves of trees. How incredibly talented. They will stand out as memories from my trip for certain. A tree fell one night in a storm and it was cut, by hand, and gone by 10:00 AM. At home, they would still be doing environmental assessments. And the cleaning staff were always cleaning up behind us. The bathroom lobbies were kept very clean as there were always staff that would stand by the door and go in right after patrons to ensure it stayed clean. Outstanding.

The beach – What can I say. Most beautiful beach I have been to. Pictures are worth a thousand words.

Feedback – I always like to leave some feedback so that the manger can make improvements where possible. These are not complaints. Simply ideas to make it even better. There were waiters that would come out to those sitting around the pool occasionally, but not too often. If there were additional staff that could come and ask if those sitting around the pool wanted drinks or food more often, that would be an improvement.

If there are extra carts available, perhaps they could have one drive around the circle every 10 min or so in the mornings and evenings. We would have walked regardless, but thinking of my parents, they could flag down that cart and get a short ride in the morning rather than have to call and wait.

That is really all I can think about. We will be back for sure. If I go to Cuba, why would I go anyplace else. [Details]

It's good that our beach is the most beautiful you've ever been to, this makes us feel very proud. We are very pleased to know that you loved the balance of entertainment. Our activities team is very encouraged by your recognition of the variety and quality of it, whether it be the participation games, the music by the pool or at night in the lobby, but above all the pleasant volume at which they carry out all the activities. We were very relieved to know that your rooms had a good cleaning service and replacement of the minibar, but above all, that all the equipment worked adequately. The water pressure can actually drop in some rooms during peak times, when everyone is getting ready for dinner, but there will always be enough, as you say. Our gardeners are undoubtedly very dedicated to their work, they have a great sense of belonging, but above all they are extremely kind, courteous and helpful people. It is no coincidence that our grounds and gardens are among the most beautiful in the region, and our guests feel very comfortable with their excellent treatment. Our cleaning staff also makes our hotel a place of reference for the extreme neatness that can be experienced throughout the facility, and in this sense they will also have an excellent performance evaluation due to your favorable mention of them. Your observations of improvements will be carefully analyzed with each of the departments involved. We hope to be able to manage improvements in this regard. It is true that additional staff offering service in the pool area would help a lot; we will analyze this with the human resources department. On the other hand, we understand that an additional cart giving tours around the resort to transport clients who need it would be ideal. Unfortunately we do not have this at the moment, but we would like you to know that this is included in our investment plans. It was an immense pleasure to have had you with us. One week stay...wonderful! Great sunny weather. Friendly staff, clean and large pool with lots of comfortable chairs. The beach is very sandy and water clean and blue.
The Melia is very clean and staff are so friendly and accommodating. They even have pickleball...thanks to Rene and Marcos (sports directors) for accompanying play for myself and others.
In all, I had a wonderful stay and the food was great! I plan on returning and highly recommend this resort. [Details]
