Great 10 day vacation. Beaches are beautiful, clear water and pure white sand. When the wind picks up sea shells and coral wash up so water shoes will be helpful.Food is good there is always something for you to eat even the picky eaters. [Details]

First trip to Melia Jardines del Rey

This was the third trip to Cuba, but first to MJR. Resort was nice, beaches were phenomenal, but the food off resort was better. I knew not to expect amazing food, but more variety or changing food themes everyday would have been nice. Instead, it was exact same meals everyday. Also, alcohol selection was a bit smaller, and my favourite Cuban drink (brandy Alexander!) was unavailable! This was so disappointing, but had other drinks to keep me going!
This is also a bigger resort, and could have been the timing, but during March spring break and Covid-19 outbreak, but the music and entertainment were more geared to younger people, ages 16-26 rather than older. A good party resort, but not what we were really looking for on this trip.
The staff and people were amazing though. So helpful and friendly. This is the reason I keep coming back to Cuba!
I hope the Covid-19 outbreak doesn't halt their operations for too long as they were closing down a couple days after we left.
Would still recommend resort for those looking to party! Maybe less so for relaxing or older guests who enjoyed talking and being able to hear each other over the sound of loud music. [Details]

Solo melia adventure

As a 67 year old woman Melia del rey was a fabulous SAFE place to stay. People at the desk were incredibly helpful. The recreation staff went out of their way to make sure all was well with me. Especially Doulien and Arsemir..I cannot thank them enough!
The food in the buffet was fabulous..so much choice. Never tasted bread as fresh. Fish cooked on the spot .. omelets great. Woman cooking french toast was amazing! Cuban restaurant on beach was awesome as well. Gardeners so respectful and helpful. Hopefully i will return next year! The beach was sooo stunning! Shells coral colours beyond imagination. Family trip to Cuba

This was our 1st trip to Cuba with my family and we had such fun!
The hotel was so helpful from the moment we got off the bus right until the day we left.
Our son (Mikey age 9) fell in love with the kiddie daycare and the people working there. This gave his mother and I some much needed and appreciated time together.
His fun even continued into the evening with the kiddie disco.
He was so parted out and ready for bed afterwards that myself and mom were able to get our much needed rest.
The food and drinks were always available and so delicious. With top notch service and a friendly face there to help.
We would definitely recommend a trip here to all our friends and look forward to coming back one day. [Details]

In these reports we found a request for water in your room and an inconvenience with the toilet flush; both cases were attended by our Customer Service staff who sent the maintenance technician and room service personnel, who resolved the problems, and, once you were contacted again, indicated that you were satisfied with the solution. We do not have reports about the bed or the uncomfortable mattress in the room, if you had done so, we would have taken care of it, even more because we have a stock of available mattresses and also our rooms are subjected to the rotation of the mattresses as established in our standards. On the other hand, we know that sometimes our food offer is not the desired by some of our visitors, but it is also true that it is sometimes difficult to satisfy the varied food tastes of such diverse cultures that we receive in our hotel, about this it adds the fact that due to irregularities with external suppliers, sometimes the supply of some products has been affected, but also every day we strive to satisfy the vast majority. We will continue working on the management of systematic improvements in every area. The strongest point of your resort is the beach with the soft nice sand and at no ends. Lots of shaded areas with the palpas. Short distances to walk to access beach,lobby,restaurants,everywhere.
The weak points
The weak points are: food at buffet is a little cold, the internet isn't very strong. The rooms could be updated and even that there is a lot of sitting areas at the lobby, the chairs could be updated also

The service was very friendly. The rooms were kept clean. The beach was absolutely amazing! The excursions were fairly priced. And they were very fun.I highly recommended the kontiki catamaran. The servers were very funny always kept it lively. The food was good. The nightlife was great, different shows every night. The live rock band was super fun. I had a special dinner for my birthday

Great Resort!

Had a lovely time in Cuba! This resort was a great place to spend a week relaxing and socializing. The beach is wonderful and there are plenty of spots to lay down and relax. There are two fantastic pools. Both play great music and have snack bars close by! The water entertainment is a lot of fun and something you must try! Aqua aerobics is a nice way to work out and keep cool.

There are many restaurants to try during the day. My favourite a la carte restaurant was the bistro. If you want an awesome hydrating drink, there is a coconut stand near the middle or the resort.

If you want to play some games and relax before having supper, the bar behind the lobby in front of the show is nice and calm. Plus you will meet the best bartender, Brandy. He makes the best pina colada's and mojitos. If you ask really nicely, he will make you an Alexander which is delicious. Brandy is also so kind. I was trying to read and it was a bit dark by the bar, so he went and turned on lights so I could see. [Details]

Friends trip to Cuba

We arrived at Melia Wednesday night on February 12th and were in our rooms within 15 minutes, front lobby staff was very quick and helpful for arriving travelers. Not a single complaint about anything on the resort, beach was breathtaking and the variety of food was quite good. Service, drinks, food and medical staff was great! Had an unfortunate accident with a glass falling and my girlfriend required five stitches in her foot.
The weak points
Beach was beautiful but could use more lawn chairs along it.

Great vacation without high expectations

We had a great vacation with a few hiccups along the way.
Beaches are absolutely stunning, resort itself has beautiful grounds & is pretty well maintained.
No beach towels for the first 2 days but that's ok we can live with that. Towels in some rooms were not replaced at all throughout the week.
Water for showering goes from freezing to scalding hot- you have to be prepared to move quickly when it gets super hot. At times you were honestly unable to flush your toilet in the room.
Food is ok- at the buffet you can usually find something to eat. My personal opinion about á la cartes- don't bother unless you are ok with waiting hours for your meal & honestly it's ok but not great & not as many options.
Unfortunately we were there for Valentine's Day & did not realize how big of a deal this was in Cuba & our resort seemed to be taken over by rude & greedy ppl.the buffet was a complete shit show that night with ppl taking a ton of food & filling up bags of food leaving some of us who had not eaten yet without food. There should be some level of control over this.
The resort was over booked for Valentine's Day & they were not prepared for this at all.
Unfortunately this left a damper on us as we were leaving the day after.
My biggest issue with this resort was the lack of water! Water bottles in the room were sometimes replaced but very inconsistent & in boys room it was never replaced. When one of the boys was sick I went on a mission to find water- they would only give me glasses of water & no bottles. When I went to customer service took me about 45 minutes to finally get 1 bottle. Water is a necessity & I have an issue with not being able to get water. I understand they were busy but still.....
I did go prepared with lots of snacks & spices so we didn't starve & honestly for the most part staff were great.
The public bathrooms were not the cleanest by any means- at times not cleaned for a whole day & that can also be blamed on the ppl visiting the resort as we need to be respectful of it being a public area. I recommend bringing toilet paper.
Would I recommend this resort? If they can get the water issue resolved I'd say yes but honestly don't have 5 star expectations, they do miss the mark on a couple of things. [Details]

Of course, we will share and analyze them with all the staff. Unfortunately, at some times we present problems with the replacement of the lingerie due to irregularities with the company in charge of washing it, but as I said on other occasions, this has been addressed in a timely manner. In any case, we will analyze this inconvenience with the accommodation department since you say that you did not have replacement for them all week. However, unfortunately we do not have the reports of your stay or the number of your room so that we can make a more specific analysis since the name shown in these comments could not be located. We had problems with water temperature in some blocks due to very occasional failures, but this was also addressed in a timely manner and resolved as soon as possible. We would like you to apologize for the lack of variety of food in the a la carte restaurants and the poor service due to the long wait. We will analyze this with the chef and the staff of these establishments, since such a poor performance is reflected in a bad service and, therefore, in such an adverse opinion of our clients, we cannot allow it. Of course, we will take steps to correct it. We have to apologize for the inappropriate behavior of the locals, but unfortunately we cannot act at this point as we would like, since it is a bit complicated considering that they are clients with the same rights as others. In addition, the peak of affluence of locals in our facilities occurs mainly only on dates such as that of 14/02 and only for a short stay, because they usually come to celebrate these occasions. We also apologize for the poor response of the Quality department to your request for water, this we will analyze with the head in charge. On the other hand I would like to explain that we have presented problems with the supply company of bottled water, which has caused that at some point the replacement service in the rooms has been affected, but this was always offered at all points of consumption of the resort like bars, restaurants, etc. We look forward to having you back at the facility and providing you with an improved service. 2nd Time Just Amazing

This was our 2nd visit to Melia Jardines Del Rey and we had a great time. Our room was clean everyday, always had hot water and air conditioning and safe also worked properly. Check in was fast, yes they put us all in a room and call your name but it was quick and easy and the bell boys are quick and happy to help you with your luggage. We did change some cash at the airport but they also offered this during the check in process. I didn't have a problem with the food but will say sometimes service in the buffet can be slow but they are very busy in there trying to do their very best to make us all happy! I did have an issue with another guest being pushy with my daughter at the buffet trying to get some hash browns lol if everyone would just slow down and not grab all the food like it was their last meal it probably wouldn't be as crazy in there some days!! But good variety of food. There are al a carte restaurant as well and all are good. The beach buffet is awesome for lunch and also a bar at the beach. There is a doctor and dentist on site as well as massage. We didn't do any extra excursions except for going on bus shopping but there is a small market just outside of resort and can find the same things but it was fun going in the double decker bus. I did speak to people whom did Purchase excursion and all said it was great!!
Entertainment staff are incredible and all very talented people. Zumba and Volleyball on the beach and every night a Great show and a pre show for the kids!!! There is also a kids club with lots of activities. We got beach towels every other day again no issues. The beach/ocean is Spectacular and I never had an issue getting Lounge chairs and the boys at the beach are quick to help you! remember to bring your reusable Bubba Or Yeti cups with you and one of the waiters will fill it up for you. There are a lot of shells on the beach so if you have little kids or sensitive feet bring some water shoes with you but I was fine with nothing and we walked a long way in both directions with no issues. We rented a car and visited Morón for day it is a great city with many historic places and a very old and important place in Cuban history!!ALL the staff are Great and I cannot express that enough!!! I cannot name them all because too many to mention but everyone always have a smile or an Hola for you, the gardeners can make anything out of palm leaves. You'll find excellent selection of drinks and the Best Cappuccinos that I dream of daily!! I personally tried to get to know as many of the staff as I could. We have been travelling to Cuba for many years and I always bring some stuff for the staff and I try to give to as many as I could as they are all deserving for working so hard to help us enjoy our vacation! a small token reminder of me and my family and they all really appreciated even the smallest thing I had to offer!! Excellent Vacation Spot

First time ever traveling to Cuba and seeing the ocean, which is stunning by the way! Lots of chairs available, huts, and ample relaxation spots. Beach bar onsite. Beach bartenders come to you so no need to worry about your drink getting empty. The staff on site are truely amazing and go out of their way to ensure your stay is as enjoyable as possible. Everyone here is friendly and has a smile on their faces. Food was good. Was worried at first as people were saying it was bad but honestly I've had worse back home. Starving was not an issue here with a buffet, a la cartes, and a 24 hours snack bar. Several different excursions made available. Highly recommend the catamaran! Absolutely stunning! The snorkling on this trip was beyond beautiful! Vibrant colors and a variety of tropical fish. Night Life was great too! Evening shows and live entertainment offered nightly. You definitely want to check this piece of paradise out!

Only issue I had here was the room keys. We had to have them reset once every two days which was quite annoying. [Details]

My friend and I just got back from an incredible week at Melia Jardines Del Rey!
The hotel is lovely and just the right size - big enough that nowhere every seems overly crowded, but small enough that it is still easy to get around.
The staff is INCREDIBLE. They are all extremely friendly and kind and will go out of their way to make your stay memorable.

The pools are very clean and there's tons of chairs. The beaches are stunning! Our hardest choice every day was deciding whether to go to the pool or the beach.

Our room was up to date and clean. If I absolutely had to pick something to complain about it would be that the bed was a little hard for my liking.

The food was good considering it's Cuba. We had no complaints and found we had lots of options depending on what we felt like that day. The pizza at the beach lunch buffet was one of our favourites!

There is only WiFi in the lobby and by the pools and some days it didn't work very well. BUT - we actually didn't mind this. We used our phones for about 15 minutes a day just to check in on emails and with our families at home and other than that it was extremely relaxing to “unplug” for the week. [Details]

Once again I have chosen this great resort my 7th visit.... Something always brings me back and its the people who make the difference .The Staff is just amazing.friendly.and welcome you like family...always there to please their guests...A-1. customer satisfaction is their business

Beach is long,wide and you can walk for miles.Water is clear blue and calm lots of chairs & sun huts for everyone.
.Bar service all over this large resort is fast and fully stocked and ready to please.
Rooms are large comfortable ,fluffy white towels,fresh linen changed often and clean.stocked frig...
pools are large area both with swim up bars and plenty of loungers.and servers to come to your chair..nice classy touch .
A la cartes are nice,and elegant. great service.good wine.The buffet is a buffet.nothing surprising.you should not go hungry'
Washrooms around the resort are clean and attended to.
Entertainment is all day & night.Sun rise to sunset. young & old,
Lobby entertainment is my favorite with classy group singing and piano ,and music instruments. nightly show,disco for the young.weekly beach party.
Ice Cream parlor openly daily and in early evening...really nice touch.
This is a large resort but everything is not far way..golf carts to bring you around if you choose..very well layout resort..
the night walk back to your room is large walkway could have better lighting but we always bring our little flashlight.
This resort has everything you need and more!!

Another amazing vacation

Had another amazing week here. 6th visit. The staff are so wonderful and naming them all is impossible. From my sweet lisbeth to Joel, Johnny, Udit, norbel, our favourite check in lady and on and on. The food was great and I could tell all the other guests that week loved it too by all the full plates and line ups for food: so no one better complain! Thank you to our Mary who made sure I had a week off from making my bed! You were all wonderful. The weather was the best and comfortably warm never even had the AC on in the room at night it was so wonderful to sleep.
