**Ocean Allure Playa Mujeres – An Honest Review**
We recently spent a week at Ocean Allure in the **Privilege Oceanfront** section and, overall, had a very enjoyable vacation.
The resort was operating at what appeared to be roughly **35% occupancy** during our stay. While this did reduce the overall atmosphere and energy somewhat, there was one major advantage: **finding pool or beach chairs was never a problem.** No early morning towel game required!
### Arrival
The only real disappointment came at check-in. Although we had reserved a **Privilege Oceanfront room**, our room was not available upon arrival, and we were accommodated in another room for the first night. While this was certainly an inconvenience, I have to give management credit for how they handled it. They compensated both of us with a **complimentary 50-minute massage**, which was a thoughtful gesture and helped turn a frustrating situation into a positive experience.
### Food
The food was good overall, with enough variety to satisfy most guests. However, because of the lower occupancy, the **buffet was closed for dinner throughout our stay**. This meant dining exclusively at the à la carte restaurants each evening. While the restaurants were enjoyable, the menus were fairly limited, so after several nights they became somewhat repetitive. The restaurants also rotated their operating days, with some closed each day, so it's worth checking the schedule.
### Resort & Amenities
The lobby is beautiful and serves as the social hub of the resort, with several bars creating a lively place to relax in the evenings.
The entertainment was enjoyable but somewhat limited compared to larger resorts. On the other hand, the resort offers a **bowling alley and pool tables**, which provide a nice alternative when you're looking for something different to do.
### Beach
The beach itself is beautiful and has tremendous potential. Unfortunately, during our visit there was a fair amount of **sargassum**. This is a regional issue affecting much of the Caribbean and is **certainly not the hotel's fault**. The staff worked hard to keep the beach as clean as possible.
### Service
The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the staff. Everyone we encountered was friendly, professional, and genuinely eager to help. One thing we noticed is that employees make an effort to introduce themselves by name, creating a much more personal experience. Their hard work and positive attitude truly enhance the vacation.
### Final Thoughts
Despite a few shortcomings—primarily the room issue upon arrival, the limited dinner options due to the buffet closure, and lighter entertainment—we had a wonderful vacation. The beautiful property, excellent staff, relaxing atmosphere, and thoughtful service more than made up for the negatives.
**Would we return?**
**Yes, we very likely would.** [Details]

The strong points
Nice rooms, the lazy river, the nice lobby, the many bars
The weak points
During our visit, they have very low occupancy rate, so the buffet was not open for dinner. You had to eat at the a la carte restaurants each nigh and they had very limited choices on the menu.
Sanitary measures
The hotel was very clean. You would see workers cleaning the grounds continously.

Overall a nice resort. Lacking in nightly entertainment. All outside bars closed at 6pm along with the pools. Would be nice to have a buffet dinner to avoid long wait times at a la' carte restaurant's which I feel were below par. Presentation was nice, but quality of food was off. [Details]

The strong points
Beautiful resort with lovely grounds . Staff was absolutely perfect.
The weak points
The a la' carte restaurant's were a real let down, and being privileged guests their privileged restaurant was also not up to par. Eggs benny seemed pre cooked and the hollandaise sauce was like rubber. Needed steak knife to cut Lobster tail meat.
Sanitary measures
Should have had someone slicing fresh bread at the morning buffet to prevent everyone handling the bread with their bare hands.

We had a great time at Ocean Allure. The staff, food and accommodations were excellent. It was quiet and spacious and overall a great place to visit. The pools were a bit cold, but the beach was clean and we spent most of our time there. It got a bit choppy on a couple days but normally it was pretty calm. [Details]

Food, staff, beach all great!
The weak points
The pools were too cold (not heated at all) and a few things still to be tended to as they're opening up.
