Over priced, needs improvements
I've been to this resort many times. It makes me feel comfortable seeing so many familiar faces. This time I stayed for two weeks. They have made many improvements since my first visit 18 years ago, however they do seem to be going backwards and the pricing is going up. Many of the staff are amazing. The food is ok/good, I think you'll always be able to find some thing to satisfy you. The were lacking on signage so sometimes I would pass by something if I could make out what it was., also could be a problem for those with allergies. The Salmon in the a la carte is my favorite and the Taco soup. When we arrived no one mentioned the a la cartes, if we hadn't been there before we wouldn't have known. We signed up for the first two but then heard from other guested that they changed the way they were doing things and you have to sign up with guest services and get a ticket. I was disappointed that staff didn't inform us. The fellow from guess services is always late arriving and sometimes if difficult to find during the day as he doesn't stay at his desk so its annoying having to wait around for him but you have to book 24 hours prior to the meal. The rooms are very outdated but I must give the cleaning staff kudos, even if the rooms don't look great they do clean them very well. I thought is was very odd that they have cut back on things like zero face cloths, hair conditioner, body lotion, there was two bottles of shampoo, two bars of soap and to bottles of water. They have water coolers in the hallways that you can refill your water bottles which is great to reduce plastic bottle waste but this year I found that more often then not they were empty. They advertise that the rooms have coffee makers and refrigerators but this is incorrect. I have yet to see a coffee maker or heard of anyone else having one in there room. They actually just started putting refrigerators in the rooms while we were there. You do have an ice bucket but you have to wait for the pool bar to open and you can take in down and ask for ice. In the 14 days I was there I switched rooms two time. The first day I went to have a shower and to tub was so high that it was not easy to get into. The paint was peeling around the drain and the tub it self was very stained. The shower head was very low which made rinsing my hair challenging. After dinner I went to the front desk and asked to be switch as I couldn't see doing that for two weeks. The girl at the desk gave me a different room right away. I packed up and moved to the new room. The air conditioner wasn't on and the room was very warm, no problem I turned it on and unpacked my cloths. This room had a walk in shower and again two bottles of shampoo and two bars of soap. My room never cooled down I woke up many times through the night trying to change the settings on the converter but no luck. I even google the manual for the remote thinking I just wasn't using it properly.
I mentioned to the front desk and they said they would send someone. I went on about my day and that evening my room was still warm. Again I mentioned to the front desk this time someone came up clicked some buttons on the remote and I believe he said he had to go up on the roof then it would be working. The next morning still not working. Once again I go to the front desk and the girl said she will follow up right away. I was waiting for my friends as we were going out on an outing and I guest the girl thought I was waiting for results and she said again that she was going to follow up right away. I felt to me she was saying "go away". When I cam back my room was still hot and humid I called down And I was unaware My friend was speaking on my behalf at the same time. The man that answered the phone said that the air conditioner will take a few days to fix and they will move me to a different room. Once again packed up my belongings and moved to another room. This room the air was working, the room was clean, it was missing a shear and when I went to close the heavy curtain the rod fell off (which wasn't a deal breaker) again two bottles of shampoo and two bars of soap, no coffee maker and no fridge. I noticed this room I actually had hot water in the shower. the other two rooms it was barely warm I just figured that was the best I was going to get, (I'm not quick to complain). I remained it that room until my departure. The pool is nice and clean. The loungers by the pool are wearing out. There is one amazing girl that covers serving the snack bar area and the pool area (I don't know how she does it everyday. The loungers at the ocean side need new cushions or maybe clean the ones that are there, they are kind of gross looking. They have one person working the ocean side bar, he also has to run across the road to the pool bar for food orders. They have plenty of security camera's around the resort yet one evening there were three men having a sexual encounter on the ocean side which was not what anyone expected to see and the three men didn't seem to care if anyone saw them. I do love the location of the resort, you can walk to many stores. When you arrive at the resort many of the first people you see look very uninterested and don't smile or greet you at all, it's not very welcoming. We try to make the most of our holiday and try not to sweat the little things but I don't think we will go back next year. Way over priced and really needs some updating for sure. I left feeling a little disappointed. They would really have to make big improvements and have a fantastic offer to make up for the last visit. P.S. I almost forgot to mention I did get an amazing massage by Candy, it was one of the best I've had. I went into the spa.
