Loved this resort! So many pools to choose from and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Many restaurants to choose from also. The grounds were beautiful and lush and we enjoyed walking them but when we were tired there was always a golf cart to pick us up on the way. Can't wait to visit again and bring friends. The staff was so nice to us and helped us when we were lost and couldn't find our room at the beginning of the trip. Very patient and friendly. The pools were amazing and it was easy to find loungers. The beach was beautiful and seaweed free. Paradise!

Just make sure you bring bug spray or lotion. I applied it every day after my sunscreen and a couple of times during the evening but my boyfriend didn't and his legs were covered in bites and I noticed a lot of other guests with bites but I didn't get 1

The hotel was very nice for the most part. Clean, well kept, however, the rooms we stayed in are very dated. There are upgraded rooms at the resort but the one we had was not. Staff was friendly, entertainment by the pool was so-so. Drinks were good, food was good! Wifi was terrible, I've stayed in Punta Cana three times in the last ten months and this is by far the worst wifi we've had. The hotel itself is average. They need to do upgrades in rooms and especially the buffet. Very musty smell walking in the buffet. Was there for Valentine's Day and last year was told by Guest services that they had Lobster at the buffet this year nothing what happened? Next door at the Esmerelda they had Lobster for Lunch and Dinner we had nothing. What a total rip off especially for what you pay it's disgusting. Seems like not a big deal to some but you pay more to get less? Staff is great and Entertainment is great but they didn't fulfill my needs like they should have. [Details]

The grounds are immaculate, as always. The rooms are a bit outdated but everything is working at it should. The food is good. There were 3 main issues. 1. Mosquitoes in our room. Waking up every morning full of bites. 2. Crowded at the beach. Have to reserve chairs before 7am even if not allowed. Everyone is doing it. 3. It was a very nice hotel, and because part of a group of hotels - gave us access to many different buffets and a la cartes - so lots of variety of food. They had great theme nights at the buffet with different foods. There were always the little trolleys to go explore the other resorts and the drivers were quite fun. We are all about the beach - so having buffet, fast food and bars right by the beach was perfect. The beach itself was pretty nice - lots of smooth sand, lots of lounge chairs, and many little huts to offer shade. It was quite windy all week, so some seaweed was being washed up, but you could tell it was cleaned every day. There was entertainment every night and some of the shows were really good and enjoyable. I did request a room on upper floor and 2 beds, but got a main floor room with 1 bed - I asked front desk twice - and they said they could see my request but had no rooms to move me , I gave up asking as I did not want to spend more time at front desk. For some reason there was no remote control for the TV in our room...again asked 2 days in a row and was assured I would get one...it never came. I received a call from the concierge the night before we were leaving - asking if the room was OK and if there was anything I needed. My suggestion would be to make this call at the beginning of someones stay , not the end. This was a minor issue, overall we had a great time and enjoyed the resort. The hotel needs to be updated completely, we found our room was not clean, the bathroom was dirty, no ventilation, the toilet didn't flush properly. We almost had a mouse running into our room from the hallway. We had a big problem with mosquitoes in our room everyday because the housekeeper always left the door wide open while she cleaned the room. My wife & I got eaten alive by mosquitoes in our room everyday and it was very unpleasant. We couldn't even sit outside listen to the music or show because the mosquitoes are so bad in the evening. The quality of food in the restaurant such as the Grill Steak, Japanese restaurant was poorly served , the steaks were tough, and no steak knife caused even tougher to cut the meat. [Details]

It's been my 3rd time to this hotel. Overall it's clean, food is good, entertainment ever night is awesome, swimming pools has activities during the day and closes at 6:00 pm. The beach is awesome. This year has a lot of weeds. Some days more than others. They clean up every morning. They are well equipped and organized. Sufficient chairs. People reserved early chairs. I was travelling solo this time so it wasn't a problem for me to reserve. My stay was 10 days, I was aloud (5) restaurant à la carte! Oh yeah you have to reserve on their site. This is new now since COVID happened. The room was cleaned all to my liking. Service is great. They are renovating that particular hotel till November 2023! À part of it it's closed. I saw the sign up and it will be an awesome, beautiful updates. That doesn't take away any inconvenience of your stay while you're there. It's all positive overall. Great vacation! My next trip will be the Ambar hôtel. It's an adult and luxury. I have been only to the Grand Punta Cana and the Grand Bavaro Hôtel on this resort. It's been great. :) [Details]

The hotel is very clean, the staff is super friendly, and the food is really very good. Transfer to and from hotel was seamless. The room was fine. Spacious and clean with a balcony. The mattress is so-so, but it was good enough for the time I was there. The bathroom was nice-great shower pressure and lots of hot water. The tub had jets and that was awesome. There is an abundance of choice of food at the buffet, especially if you're into desserts. Lots of meat, veggies. Fresh fruit. One night at the buffet we had grilled lobster-what a treat. The a la carte restaurants were all good to excellent. Japanese and Greek were my favourites. Service was always great everywhere. A shout out to Wilson who made us laugh. The beach is absolutely beautiful and my friend and I never had an issue finding chairs. The staff work hard to clean the beach every morning and walking along the long stretch of gorgeous soft sand was amazing. For those who like activities and loud (pounding) music, they have that happening by the pools, but there are also quieter pools available. We were happiest at the beach. Drinks were good (I had beer, caesars, and margaritas and wine at dinner). The spa was fantastic-Catalina and Anita are pros at relaxation massage. A great vacation. [Details]

I travel several times a year and will not return to this hotel. The service was minimal and the staff did not seem to know the most basic information about the hotel, such as where certain onsite restaurants where located - even the maps were inaccurate. The staff did not seem happy, even when tipped generously, and we were asked several times about helping them move to Canada. The rooms themselves require important upgrades as the amenities were non functional, including the jacuzzi bath, tv, safe and mini fridge - even after a room change. The spa was clean and had a variety of amenities, including steam room and sauna, however the confirmed valentine's day reservation we made two weeks prior was not in the system and we weren't able to get the package we reserved. The food was particularly disappointing regardless of which buffet or restaurant we went to or the time - the coffee came from a vending machine. There were just too many issues overall and we've never felt relived to come home from a vacation before. [Details]

This is the second time we are at a Bahia hotel in Punta Cana, we were in Bahia Ambar in 2017. This time we liked it better, mainly because of the beach, more accessible, in Ambar we had to reserve chairs at 6 am. The beach is a little overcrowded but there is enough space. One or two days some algae were brought by the sea but only 50 meters away the water is clean. The hotel starts getting old, needs some renovation but it is no problem for us. Usually the renovation leads to a price increase….The site is very big but there is a regular train system and there is no problem moving around. The room is clean, room service is impeccable, regular change of towels and constant supply of water and beverages in the fridge. Food in the buffet is very good, I think there is food for any taste. A lot of seafood, fish. There is a theme every day, Mexican Dominican, Spanish, American, Asian, Gala…There are 11 restaurants à la carte. We liked a lot the Indian, Mediterranean El Olivo, Brazilian, Garden Grill, Japanese and Greek. The Indian was probably the biggest surprise, great food! The only thing is that there are two almost identical Japanese restaurants in the two lobbies of the hotel with similar names, Mikado and Maiko and a lot of people missed their reservation because they went to the wrong restaurant, information you should get at the welcome meetings… The tour operator representative Ernesto was trying so hard to sell excursions that he didn't give any information unless asked. Like where do you get the beach towels, there is only one place in the complex. This is the reason many people don't go to these meetings which, like everywhere, are a place to sell activities. … The animation has its ups and downs, the more traditional programs at the theatre were better but the disco at the lobby was probably the highlight. We stayed two weeks and had a great time. We have stayed in more expensive hotels in Punta Cana but we liked this hotel the most. [Details]

The room is dim, even if I turned on all the lights, maintenance needs to routinely check the rooms, and my floor lamp is not working at all. We stayed for a week and we asked to clean our room on the third day, it was so disappointing to see that it was not done, except the cleaner come and collect the garbages and replace the water bottles and make the bed, on top of that she did not even replace both towels, the guest should also be provided with face towels. The resort is close to the airport. The entire staff were very friendly and welcoming. The grounds were pristine, the food was exceptional. The steakhouse and Japanese a la carte were delicious! Nothing negative to say. We were thrilled with everything from the food, the resort was clean and beautiful. The shuttle to and from the beach was very quick and accessible at all times. My wife has mobility issues with MS and the shuttle as well as close location of our room to the main lobby, buffet was exceptional. We did not have to use a wheelchair for her which was great:) Thanks to the wonderful staff and experience and we can't wait to book our next trip back to Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana!! [Details]

We went as a group of 20 for our sons wedding. Upon arrival, there was not enough staff to check us in to our rooms. Food was good , place was beautiful. On the beach, someone was trying to sell you something constantly. You will be fine until there is a problem or emergency. My husband had a fall getting out of the pool. Staff members are not trained. They were both on the phone calling for help. We were the ones checking my husband's vitals. He was in and out of consciousness. 20 minutes and we carried him on lounge chair to the nearest ground vehicle to the clinic and then to the hospital. No one called us to see how he was. This is my second time at bahia principe punta cana and my third time at a bahia principe resort overall. This all inclusive resort is simply amazing. Very clean. Quick attentive friendly staff. Great food both in quantity and quality. Pools were always clean. The beaches are like walking on baby powder they are so fine. I have nothing but praise for the bahia principe resorts and specifically this one in punta cana. My wife and I will be returning again next year. My only comment to make is that the vendors that pop up mid week are very pushy. If that could be curbed a bit it would be perfect. I'd still give this resort a 5 rating. [Details]

We went as a couple, in our mid 50's. Stayed in Villa 4, near the beach. So convenient, as the trams travelled from the end of our walkway right to the lobby areas. We went from beach to pool, to other pools, jacuzzi pools, back to beach, etc. We had planned on doing a couple of excursions, but there are so many things to do on resort, we did not go off resort, except a 30 minute walk, southward on the beach to the vendors on the beach. We also did a Chocolate "Excursion" at Chocolate Cia, found just off the Bavaro Lobby. Lasted about 1hr15m. $25/pp. Learned about chocolate history and prepped / made cocoa bars. Lots of fun and very educational. The Terrace (just off the Lobby) was always our evening spot. Live music around 7-8pm, then entertainment team kicks in til 9. Music until Theatre show stops (9:45). Then more Entertainment team until 10:30ish. Dance lessons, competitions (my wife & I won the couples Bachatta dance competition 1 evening). Join the GBP PC Group on F_B_. A wealth of information. Book the A La Cartes soon as you can. We booked 14 days ahead via email you can find on F_B_. Went to Dominican, Italian, BBQ and Tapanaki. All great choices. Our fourth time at the Royal Golden. Very dissatisfied with room maid, cleanliness. Food at the buffet downgraded, dirty dishes,etc. When approached by the Privilege salesperson we were told that the Royal Golden section did not exist anymore, but we were greeted and registered by and at he Royal Golden desk lounge. Bahia Principe Grand, great vacation!
Food in the buffet is very good, I think there is food for any taste. A lot of seafood, fish. There is a theme every day, Mexican Dominican, Spanish, American, Asian, Gala…There are 11 restaurants à la carte. We liked a lot the Indian, Mediterranean El Olivo, Brazilian, Garden Grill, Japanese and Greek. The Indian was probably the biggest surprise, great food! The only thing is that there are two almost identical Japanese restaurants in the two lobbies of the hotel with similar names, Mikado and Maiko and a lot of people missed their reservation because they went to the wrong restaurant, information you should get at the welcome meetings… The tour operator representative Ernesto was trying so hard to sell excursions that he didn't give any information unless asked. Like where do you get the beach towels, there is only one place in the complex. This is the reason many people don't go to these meetings which, like everywhere, are a place to sell activities. …
The animation has its ups and downs, the more traditional programs at the theatre were better but the disco at the lobby was probably the highlight.
We stayed two weeks and had a great time. We have stayed in more expensive hotels in Punta Cana but we liked this hotel the most. [Details]

Lots of food choices but very average to poor quality .
Too much loud noisy music everywhere but missing the good traditional Carribean music, steel drums etc.
