Dont know where to start ,we experienced many so called 5 star resort in the last years ( - 20 weeks in the last 4 yrs)and are aware of what we can expect at this price range but usually hygiene is one of them. The lack of time présents me from going in détails about all the horrible things we went thru at this Princess hotel. -our 5 yrs old ended up at the hospital after catching a bactéria, he was put on antibiotic ,bacteria was caught either at the pool or thru food.Pools over there are dirty and main main one my wife would not even set foot in it was so full of algua -our 18 mths old ended up at the hospital for catching foot, hand, mouth .We spoke met 3 other family whose kids got it.For our baby girl we didnt make a big deal about it until it became sickening to watch .We then went to the hotel doctor which ,again, sent us to Bavaro Hospital. Our baby girl caught Herpès on top of foot, hand, mouth ,,,antibiotic creams every 4 h,seringe médications every 6 hours ,spécial soap to wash her 3 times à day...and she was forbidden to go in the water Management called us every day to ask news from our kids and then it stopped,i went to see them the day we left ,they told me we tought you left already... -our room smelled like rotten eggs ,they only accepted to change after 3 days ,,,he high chairs makes you want to vomit,,,kids clubs activities are a farce,, i swear i could go on and on but i got better things to do ,,,
Management is full of lies, excuses and take no responsability for anything ,,i could of filled their paper to get à free upgrade or à few free days but i would never set foot there again If you love your kids dont go there [Details]

Amazing Resort - Food allergies can be an issue

We stayed in a Swim-Up Suite in the Family Club area of the resort. We loved the bunk beds for the kids and the king-sized bed for us and the beds were comfortable to sleep on. The bathroom is tight for a family of 4, but the shower is HUGE. Water pressure in the shower was ok with the handheld shower. The rainfall shower basically just dripped. We loved that there were robes and slippers provided for our family although, the child-size robe and slippers would be good for a child up to age 5. The loungers on the patio are super comfy! I need some of those for my backyard. The kids loved that they could just go out the back door and straight into the pool. They spent a lot of time out there. The restaurants were all pretty good. We ate at the buffet the first night and when we told them our oldest child has a gluten allergy, they brought out numerous chefs to show us what they could eat from the buffet and even offered to make something special if they wanted. This was the only restaurant that did that. The sit-down restaurants were quite difficult when it came to food allergies, even though we had a printout from guest services regarding the food allergy. At the Italian restaurant, my child wanted to order the risotto for dinner. We were told numerous times by the server that rice is not gluten-free. Of course, this is not true and we tried explaining many times. We told her that they wanted risotto and we know it does not have gluten. She did not understand and took it upon herself to order our child the gluten-free spaghetti with tomato sauce without telling us. When they tried to deliver the spaghetti to the table, we told them that they had ordered risotto, not spaghetti. At this point, my husband went to talk to the gentleman at the front of the restaurant and explain what happened to him. He said he would take care of it and have the risotto made for our child. 5 minutes later, they brought the spaghetti out again. Eventually, we did get the risotto for them, but our dinner took 2 hours due to these issues. Our favourite restaurant, which we discovered on our last day, is the Mexican restaurant. They have gluten-free corn tortillas, which gave our child lots of options as you can order corn or flour tortillas with most of the menu items. I highly recommend the Premium WiFi. It was included in our stay, but if it's not included in yours, it's only $18/week per device. We were able to browse, read emails and stream videos with it all over the resort. Right now, there isn't much in the way of entertainment at the resort. They only have a singer or a band playing at the main building in the evenings. All in all, we were happy with our stay. The swim-up suite is definitely worth it, in our opinion, during these covid times as we were able to stay away from people if we wanted to. [Details]

The strong points
The swim-up suite is worth it for families with the ample space in the room and the pool being so handy for the kids.
The weak points
Food allergies can be an issue in sit-down restaurants. We recommend printing out a detailed allergy card in Spanish to take with you, but be prepared to have very limited options in some of the restaurants.
Sanitary measures
The room was cleaned daily and we regularly saw staff cleaning in the rest of the resort. Mask wearing is not enforced as much as we would have liked in the areas where signs required mask use.
