Kauai relaxation

, Nanaimo, BC
2014-03-03
Everything I could think to ask for in affordable accommodation in paradise. Beautifully maintained grounds and pool at an amazing beach abutting other resorts and beaches. Room was comfortable and well-ceaned daily. The small kitchenette (microwave, no stovetop) was ample to allow us to enjoy many breakfasts, lunches and snacks on our balcony overlooking the beautiful grounds and beach. Small shopping mall just behind resort. We could have happily spent our entire time here, but it was useful to rent a car for day trips and variety in eating-out options and grocery runs. I was surprised that swimming is not recommended at this or most beaches in Kauai, so it was also nice having a car to get to the few life-guarded beaches. A walkway along the beach (about 6 miles and growing) connects this resort to many others and is good for walking, bicycling, running and sight-seeing. Good for "morning" people - the wild jungle fowl WILL wake you - all over Kauai! We had many hours between check-out and flying home and the resort continued to provide a good venue for enjoying our last day - lobby area lovely, open air. [Details]

The strong points
Comfort, relaxation, on a long lovely sand beach.
The weak points
Swimming not recommended at this or most Kauai beaches. If you are looking for night-life, you will want a car. Or maybe a different island. We did not find local entertainment. No playground (but we had no children).

Great Vacation

, Burnaby, BC
2010-05-08
The last few vacations we have stayed in all-inclusive resorts in Mexico. This was a VERY nice change as the resort is small and it was not crowded at all while we were there. The location is good as it's about half way between the South and North coasts which is nice for day trips. It's also within walking distance to a small town but we usually had to drive for dinner. There are take-out restaurants in the Coconut Market beside the resort but they close at 6pm. Great shopping for souvenirs at the market though and a convenience store as well. We loved our ocean front room. When it was raining we sat on the covered lanai and watched the ocean. For the most part the staff were friendly and helpful, particularly at the concierge desk. Our room was nicely decorated, comfortable, and clean. Unfortunately, most of the time we were there, the pool was very cold and the hot tub was very hot (we like it hot but it was extremely hot). It may have been nice to have a restaurant at the resort and parking at night was a challenge but I would definitely stay at this resort again. [Details]
